And there's an entire level of Enter the Matrix devoted to staking vampires in the Merovingian's chateau.

I was using either a Data Extractor 1.0 or 2.0 in Chelsea when I was attacked by a new kind of NPC called a "Data Simulacrum" (not to be confused with the Viral Simulacrum witnessed earlier).  They look much like the Viral/Antediluvian sims.  There details can be found on my Character Details page.  There at the very bottom, above the "Data Sentry" entry.

Inside the data cluster that spawned upon their defeat was an Experience Code Amplifier.  There was one other thing inside the cluster, but I can't remember what it was.  I'm very sure it was something like a code frag, nothing massively important.

One question that's been on a lot of players' minds for a long time now is this: where do the Machine and Merovingian redpills go when they're not jacked in and not on their hovercrafts?  It's doubtful that they're all living in Zion.  Many of us have assumed that they have bases somewhere in the real world.

   I wouldn't be surprised if this was more of a question for Paul Chadwick. ^^;;

Wasn't there last appearance in Reloaded?  Persephone killed Abel, so he's dead.  The last time we saw Cain was during the Chateau fight scene.  Neo kicks him through a statue.  I doubt that killed him, so he could be alive.

Good point about the possibility that the Merovingian got rid of Cain after what happened.  But the reason I doubted that Cain was killed in the battle with Neo was because he and his brother are "notoriously difficult to terminate", as Persephone said.

Is anyone keeping track of the storyline as it's advanced in the Critical Missions?

From what I can tell, very few people are keeping track of what's happened in critical missions.  And there  seems to be little in the way of inter-organizational discussions about what has happened in their respective critical missions.  Also, it seems that most of the people who do keep track of the critical missions only keep track of the Zion critical missions.

FeralBoy wrote:

Since I'm new to these critical missions, I have no idea how far behind I am in the story.  At the moment, I seem to be at the point where the story was a couple of Live Events ago.  Is it possible to miss a Criticial Mission, or do you players get to play them all no matter how late they start?

Older critical missions are replaced as the story progresses.  Which is why I'd like to see a mission archive simulation in the game (or at least something, either in-game or on the official site, that can be used to read about or experience past missions).

I've been taking extremely thorough screenprints of all of my Critical Missions so far, so I've got all the official dialogue that has been spoken.  I talk to the same person more than once, just in case they say something different the next time around.  If anyone who is keeping track of the storyline is interested, I can provide them with what I have so far.

I'm glad to hear this.  I've also been doing something like this.  Not only for the critical missions, but the neighborhood contact missions, and the "introduction and seduction" missions that all new players go through.  Unfortunately I've only started doing this in recent months, so there's a lot of older critical missions that I missed.  And I had to create a new character in order to document the "introduction and seduction" missions and the neighborhood contact missions that I missed documenting.

Oh, and I just remembered, it's likely that Enmascarado is dead.  I guess it's not 100% confirmed, but Enmascarado did said that his RSI was rigged with a "nasty surprise" that would be unleashed upon his death.  That nasty surprise was the fire virus.  Also, he was defeated by the Assassin, which means it's possible that the auto jackout overriding killcode was used.

And then there's what I like to call the "missing comic".  For some reason the comic is on the website, but there's no link to it.  It's called "The Man Who Knew Too Much", and it was originally a series one comic.

The last I heard, Sophia Stewart's case was dropped back in June or July.

I'm open minded about the whole thing.  But so far, Sophia Stewart doesn't seem to be a very stable person from my point of view.  In one interview I read, she referred to birthdays as "pagan holidays".  Hmm.

Also, I remember reading a thread in another Matrix forum where they talked about Sophia Stewart selling audio CDs about her claims while her case was being worked on.  This was apparently a very compromising move on Stewart's part, at least according to some law knowledgeable people who posted in that thread.  I'm not sure if I can find that thread though.

Actually, when you first meet the Effectuator, he says "The Merovingian made them specially for me".  They're Lupines that have been modified for stealth and infiltration.  They don't teleport, they can cloak.  And Operators can't pin down their location before they uncloak, they can only see intermittent signals where the Dire Lupines are.  Their skin is even darker than a normal Lupine.  According to their Details, "Some trick of pigmentation causes this character to appear as if always standing in shadow.  Their eyes, by contract, look preternaturally bright".

And for those who missed the Effectuator's Details, "This man's jaunty bearing and bright summer clothes form an unusual contract with his neatly groomed, graying hair".

It's probably extremely difficult (if not impossible) to do this accurately at this point in time.  Most people didn't document the older missions, and most documentation that exists now concerns recent critical missions.  So most of the older criticals would have to be done by memory, and that doesn't always guarantee accuracy.

This is one of the reasons I'd like to see a mission archive simulation.

It's not a bad idea, certainly, although I'm not sure we have any looping two-player emotes right now (do we? I'm not really up on my two-player emotes, what with playing solo most of the time *sniff*), so there may be some technical issues involved in doing that.

It would also probably take a lot more time to animate than most regular emotes.
