Perps are awards, not all awards are given for last shot kills or for participating in a live event. Being able to make a substitute Perp would devalue those who did manage to achieve one.
Yeah by achieving one is compared HOW to farming one 3 times? Which do u think consumes more time and "skill"??

BTW where is the fix for butterfly?? Can't be tht hard to fix an ab tht always hits against normal tactics...

Anyone who grinds 135 missions in order to almost have a perp item cares way too much about a ridiculous graphic effect.

I JUST got back from watching it.  It really was a great movie.  TOTALLY was better than that harry potter movie.  I excpected a couple of corny cheesy parts, but really is was extremely well done.  One thing that made me very happy was that there wasn't a stupid "comic relief."  I hate when a great character is just made to be humorous (cough cough, gimli).  Really wa an excellent movie.

The Lounge Matrix Universe The Architect's Mistake Re:The Architect's Mistake -Collbard- 0 03/17/2008 18:46
Hmm I'll have to think about this a little more but this is my initial thoughts:

We know that the machines lie on several occasions (ya know, the whole "false reality thing"SMILEY; however, The Architect seems to genuinely be providing a completely fair choice.  The Oracle was created in order to help guide The One.  One has to wonder, would Neo and Trinity have fallen in love if The Oracle hadn't given Trinity her prophecy (same as the vase instance)?  We know The Oracle did something different than she had done in the past, and that clearly led to Neo making his decision the way he did.  The Architect doesn't lead him a particular way because that isn't his function, that is The Oracle's function.

As far as I understand it, machines/programs are supposed to be incapable of actually telling a lie.  This may have been taken out for the game, but did it ever happen in the trilogy?
Well, the entire Matrix was a lie in order to make those connected to it believe that they were in the real world (let's not delve into reality in this thread though).  Also "The Prophecy" of the One was a lie in order to continue the cycle of restarting the Matrix.  It is often presumed that the plans to reinsert Cypher into the Matrix were a lie (again, lets not drag that mess here).

  Caini wrote:

The intention of the machines was not lie about the reality, but keep them under their reality. I can't recall any moment when the machines lie.

The Architect gave neo that choice because that's how the humans accept the matrix in first place, with choice. So the Architect made the math and thought that every human in every case needs a choice. Obviously he couldn't forsee that Neo would choose the left door, but the choice was given to keep his own logic.

I disagree.  The intention of the machines seems clearly to me to be to lie to humans about reality.  If a human would have come across an agent and said, "Hey, is this world an illusion?" do you believe the Agent would have said, "Yes"?  No!  The Matrix is a manipulative system of control!  It's obvious Machiavellian principles.  Read Plato's Allegory of the Cave and Descartes theory of radical doubt - those are what the Matrix are clearly based off of.

Nah, your RSI is what your mind makes it, doesn't mean that you're gonna look exactly as you are in the real, Neo had much longer hair when he first jacked into the training construct than he did in the real. If you know it's a simulation and you know you can make yourself look better (in any way that you think would make you look better) thats what most people would do. If you don't know it's a simulation (bluepill) then your image will be whatever your mind thinks you should look like...

There are probably lots of larger bluepills out there, they just may not have been seen on film and the MxO peds... well they're walking aren't they... the large bluepills are probably driving the cars... SMILEY<img src=" />

The Lounge Matrix Universe Agent Smith as a Christ-figure Re:Agent Smith as a Christ-figure -Collbard- 0 04/15/2008 14:22
Umm...honestly I think this is a really bad interpretation.  The idea of machines as God is good and the bluepills being little inhabitants and redpills being the deviants that screw everything up (this is one idea behind machinist ideology in MXO is it not?), but Smith as Jesus is terrible.  Firstly there were several agents that performed the same function as Smith, so you'd have to take that into account.  Secondly, Smith wanted to get out of the Matrix because he hated it.  I don't remember Jesus capturing a demon and begging him for information on how to get into hell (Smith-Morpheus).  Smith promised an end, while Jesus promises everlasting life.  Smith rebelled against his masters as mentioned.

I don't see Smith as an evil character though.  While it's easy to say Neo represents Jesus and Smith the devil, I'm not a fan of strict dualism like that (which is why I like serving the machines in MXO)  I think when deciding who is good and bad, you have to look at Plato's allegory of the cave (although a bit tweaked in the case of the machines).  It is painfully obvious that The Matrix is an updated form of the allegory of the cave.  From that interpretation, if we can somehow imagine that the machines have good reason to hold the humans, then Smith is in fact a good guy and the redpills are the evil deviants that should  be destroyed, especially when they try to make other deviants.
The Lounge Matrix Universe Agent Smith as a Christ-figure Re:Agent Smith as a Christ-figure -Collbard- 0 06/03/2008 15:48
Well we can say there is gnostic influence on the films, but we can actually trace the influence further back to Plato.  While gnosticism didn't stem from Plato, it certainly was related.  Specifically, gnosticism and the works of Plotinus are extremely similar, though I don't think either influenced the other...actually I'm not sure about that.  I think gnosticism had its roots right before or around the same time as Plotinus and once his works were read Gnosticism really took off.  I could be wrong about all that though...gah, time to go read my old class notes.

It's always funny to see the Cypherites rage against an inherent function of the Matrix (the removal of people who become aware of the simulation) due to their belief that they're helping people avoid the pain of the real world.  Only Cypherites receive this pain.  There are plenty who clearly got past this pain (assuming they ever had it at all).

Also, doesn't it kind of kill off Cypherite recruitment?  Like I said, the real world gives them pain, so they became Cypherites.  But if you're not letting people experience the pain of the real world, then there's no new Cypherites, right?

I'm pretty sure killing off recruitment was part of the plan.  They wanted to kill all redpills that were awakening people, then have themselves reinserted.  Since reinsertion is not a possibility, the logical plan now would be to kill redpills that are awakening people, then kill themselves in order to ensure that no one betrays the Cyph code and tries to awaken anyone.  I don't know if thats what they are doing though.
Syntax Events - Syntax Redpill Prisoner's Dilemma - Beta Redpill Prisoner's Dilemma - Beta -Collbard- 0 03/20/2008 21:36
Come one, come all!  Think you've got the Strength and Strategy to win the Redpill Prisoner's Delimma?  Sign up!  The rules may sound complicated at first, but you'll quickly get the hang of it!  The more who sign up, the greater the experience will be!

Redpill Prisoner's Dilemma is modified somewhat from the typical Prisoner's Dilemma in order to make things more interesting.  Will you chose to cooperate or betray?!  The rules are as follows:

Participants have one week to sign up (until March 27).  Either give your handle by responding to this thread, sending me a PM, sending me and in-Matrix email, or contacting me within the Matrix.  In order to keep an air of secrecy, the contestants will not be listed until after the first round has been completed.  Rounds will be completed as follows:

Once all contestants are signed up I will randomly pair them off with one another.  Contestants will not know who they are paired with.  At the soonest time that I and two paired contestants are within the Matrix and available I will contact each of them simultaneously.  I will then ask them the vital question, "Cooperate or Betray?"  Once I have received an answer from both contestants I will disclose to each of them a location for us all to meet.  Scoring is as follows:

Contest 1:  If contestants A and B answer (respectively) , "Cooperate-Cooperate," neither contestant will gain a point.  If contestants answer, "Cooperate-Betray," contestant B will gain a point.  If contestants answer, "Betray-Cooperate," contestant ! will gain a point.  If contestants answer, "Betray-Betray," the players will begin a battle as soon as I have given there results.  The winner of the battle will receive a point.

Contest 2:  At this point either one contestant has received a point or both contestants have cooperated and no point has been given.  The contestants, now face to face, have the opportunity to briefly discuss negotiations if they wish, or, the contest will continue.  Again, I will privately ask both contestants "Cooperate or Betray?" then reveal the results of their answer.  Scoring will proceed as mentioned above.

Contest 3:  At this point there are several score possibilities; contest 3 will be the last unless there is a tie (see below).  Again, a brief discussion between contestants will be allowed, I will ask "Cooperate or Betray" privately to both contestants, reveal the result and give points where due.  At this point the contestant with the most points will be declared the victor and will move onto the next round.  Ties will be determined as follows:

If both players have acted cooperatively throughout all three contests, both players move onto the next round!  In any other circumstance, a Final Contest will be held, conducted the same as the others; however, if both players cooperate in the Final Contest, they will both move on and if one contestant gains a point advantage over the other, he/she will move on.

Once all contestants have completed a round I will post the results in this thread.  Round two will begin in the same way Round one did.  I will randomly partner up the remaining contestants.  Should the case arise that there is an odd number of contestants, one contestant (again randomly chosen) will advance to the next round automatically.

The rounds will continue until there is only one contestant remaining (the victor) or until there is a stalemate between remaining contestants.  A stalemate occurs if all remaining contestants choose to cooperate with one another.  On the very last round (that will determine a stalemate) I will inform contestants that a stalemate is looming before asking them "Cooperate or Betray?"

The clear victor will receive the full prize amount.  In the case of a Stalemate, all remaining contestants will split the prize amount.

Beta:  As the title of this thread says, this event is a Beta.  I have never conducted anything like this before and I'm not sure exactly how well it will work; however, I've spent a considerable amount of time crafting the rules.  I don't want to devote an excessive amount of $info towards a prize without being sure that I can successfully pull off this event.  The prize for this event will be 10 Million $info.  If this operation works well I will create an official version and offer much greater prizes (including prizes for advancing each round).  If you have any questions/constructive criticisms feel free to post them.

Syntax Events - Syntax Redpill Prisoner's Dilemma - Beta Re:Redpill Prisoner's Dilemma - Beta -Collbard- 0 03/25/2008 10:46
Well the "Always Betray" strategy is the most obvious, but in many cases is not shown to be the most effective strategy.  Another problem I encountered while constructing this is that, as mentioned, the rounds are definite.  I guess if I could add a greater incentive to cooperate and less of one to betray it would be nice, but then everyone might just cooperate.  I did design this with several scenarios in mind though, so that after the initial meeting players could choose to cooperate or betray without the first round preventing a complete coop-coop win.  Do you think there would be a greater incentive to cooperate if a prize were given to each player for passing into the next round, but no prize given for betrayal?  I had actually intended to do this, but I just wanted to run a beta version to see what strategies players would generally use.

I still plan to run this so sign up if you want to give it a try.  You've got nothing to lose!
