There aren't any plans to do that. However, apart from a few constructs, I heard they had worked on a few additional areas. There was some kind of a power plant with zombies, and possibly some other area they keep in secret.
My theory would be the freeway system since it was already modeled for the movie and I think Rarebit mentioned they had had some kind of an intention to do that.

To a question concerning his world design abilities, he also stated that he basically was able to create some kind of new district or neighborhood, but from what I've read, it would probably be some sort of copy of what we already have.

Just repeating, they don't have plans, but you shouldn't completely give up your hopes.
Where did you read this?
The Ask the Devs thread, mainly the old one (too stupid it isn't searchable right now).

Why do you have your little, pathetic spot light on? My suggestion: Fly to the Machine City, find the computer the Matrix is run on, get that little chip called useropts.cfg and turn off that dumb spot light!! It's just fatal for your reputation among other redpills to run with that silly, bad looking spot light! Believe me, I'm right!!!

Well, it's not like you couldn't use Aikido at level 11 :smileywink:

However...

Well, I'm pretty sure it's a misplaced Lupine attack -- that wouldn't be the only case with wrong animations: Guard Breaker often causes the wrong move, and the Lupines conceal some of their attacks as silver bullet shots. However, I'm not so sure... maybe both animations are just similiar.

It's just that it's not the standard way a broken grab finisher looks: Normally, the loser falls down to the ground, dead, and then the winner performs his attack in the air.

However, I think I now remember the new Speed finisher, either. Again, has any former Self Defense finisher been removed due to the new ones?

I also would like to have the lupine style in the ability tree. Although it would interfere with the idea a little, but it still would be great.

OK, before we continue, I'd like to adjust the name of my thread. Apparently, I had forgotten (or overlooked) the new Speed finisher, and maybe there's also a new grab finisher, who knows? Anyone mind if I change the message subject? You can always change it back later SMILEY

Yea, let's start with that: Has the grab tactic also been enriched by a new move?

I've never been a Gunman myself and only seen the animations on NPCs, so I'm not sure about something:

Before CR 2.0, I clearly remember my enemies kicking me a few meters back or jumping back themselves and then firing their arm(s); what I don't remember from CR 1.0 but see all the time now is my enemies performing artistic rotations and jumps while shooting off their guns.

Has the first group, indeed, been removed by CR 2.0 and the second one added?

Its definitely Pistol Aerial. I also think Pistol Aerial is responsible for the desynching of Interlock (the RSIs are no longer facing each other while fighting, animations are totally desynched). Or it may be the whole tree that's susceptible to desynching Interlock.

No, I don't think so.. That's been around before, no matter what style the two opponents use. The separate styles have their own flaws, though, particularly certain moves not being played at all and the responsible character freezing.

By the way, how long has Pistol Aerial been bugged this way?

I took the pics in Lemone, but it's the same on any sidewalk in Richland and Westview (not sure about Downtown).

Basically, I don't quite understand how "existing texture" automatically results in insect cave drawings. I mean, the cracks on the main streets are also patterned, but don't look like insects as far as I've seen...

And Joakim, the older live events contained clues in the very world textures. At least that's what they said in laucnh interviews, and I've a read a player on the forum complaining about the new events mention this aswell. So I automatically thought it was some remnant from the beginning of the game where everything revolved around flies and insects...
Gameplay Discussion Districts, Neighborhoods, and Constructs Insects on city textures Re:Insects on city textures zeroone506 0 10/27/2006 14:36
I agree the textures in the screenshots can't be identified as insects with a 100% certainty insects. But still, they look much like insects than your picture. One has six legs and two antennas, and has other details that look very bug-like. The other one looks kinda mutilated, but the limbs still remind me very much of insects.

Your image does kinda look like a butterfly, but the inferior wings look rather like bubbles and are separated from the rest, the sorta swelling in the middle of the body looks weird, and there is littke that would remind of a head, limbs or antennas.

But I agree, it is kinda ambiguous. Maybe it's really an accident that looks like a bug...

There's a certain Aikido Grab move (where you pack your opponent's leg and twist it around, carrying off his feet) that needs an adjustment. I even doubt it's within the CR 2.0 responsibility.

After you've brought him to the floor, he's lying on his back, with the legs towards you. The move he always uses to get up puts him in a (vertical) position where he's looking in the reverse direction from you, which causes him to slowly turn around. That uprising move works correctly in other cases, but in this one, it's misplaced. It should be replaced by a move that makes him stand towards you from the beginning -- there are such in the game.

And we all know what Freud would say about seeing a pelvis in an inkblot.
Probably it is some sort of accident, but especially the figure in the middle still reminds me too intensively of an insect. Anatomically not entirely correct, but still.

That's what I'm saying, it's no matter to go to another hardline.

Also, let's say you're an MA and get killed by an Arbalest. He stuns you first, and then... well, you know the rest. So you can return as Gunman and shoot him everytime he tried to execute the virus, then interlock him and try to succeed this time. Something like that... Although, of course, since it's you who's died and not him, he'll still be flagged and you can attack him -- what, of course, causes you to go into PvP mode again.

So maybe, I'll have to /agree in some way.

Just to throw out a question: what exactly is the reason why you (in a collective sense) want to have new districts?

Do you think the current city is too small (for you alone) and want it to be bigger or do you feel unsatisfied with only a few red spots on the grand green map being filled, and want to see more of the city? Would you like new districts to expand the city's diversity?
That's my motives, at least. And filling out the current districts doesn't help this.

Or is it the playable content, which you've run out of, and hope to get more of with new districts? Rarebit's right, filling out the current ones is the way to go. This can include both building on the current city content and including new elements.
Except you want new, fresh neighborhoods with their own backgrounds?

Or do you feel the city's just too small for the player base, and needs expansion in order to give you and everyone more air to breathe? ROFL. That's also what those players who only value the community and player interaction about an MMO think.
Except there are the above aspects, too.

Because they adjust investments to profit?

actually because all profit from this game goes into games like everquest and so forth, but before we get new Districts, the other ones need to be utilized.

everyone agree's that DT is much much better looking than richland, yet nobody ever is there on a regular basis

People are saying this all the time, but is it a fact or speculation? Where has it been stated?

And no, not everyone agrees that Downtown is better looking than Richland. In my opinion, they are equal in quality. And I'm not the only one - look for the "Who likes the Barrens?" thread somewhere below.

Again, my original question - what's the reason why everybody wants new districts?

Hyper Jump is sold by almost every ability vendor you see (f.e. Code Vendor, Hacker Vendor, Martial Arts Vendor...). As far as I know not at Mara c, but mostly it's there.

If you're looking for Code Fragments, they're sold by rare Fragment Vendors, one of them at the Kedemoth Plaza. You can also compile them from code bits.

If you're looking for red fragments ("Coder Interface" for example), visit www.mxoarchive.radiomegacity.com.

But you do agree that all of this content could be aswell implented into the world as it is right now, without a need for city expansions?
I mean, that's what the talk is about: filling the current city up with content before creating new ones.

(I've read your other points, I just react to this one in particular)
Gameplay Discussion Districts, Neighborhoods, and Constructs Was Mega City only designed for the sequels? Re:Was Mega City only designed for the sequels? zeroone506 0 12/20/2006 08:33
Well, I think that's exactly the map you see when totally zooming out in the Atlas. But without the zooming in.

According to Rarebit, it was never planned to recreate every building and street from the movies, but they got it approved by the original Matrix stuff or something like that, in terms of shape (the Wachowskis wanted it to look like a computer chip from above) and look.
They got this Mega City map from the original stuff, aswell.

It's actually sad that we'll never get to access this entire city with its original shape.

Prior to CR2 the higher the level of Karate Master (for example) the faster and quicker, and more precise  the attacks were culminating with Karate Grandmaster animnations that were outright vicious.

Now it seems they do not get progrssively more intense and at higher levels sometimes they are somewhat like self-defense.

I miss the old animations

Ok, could you translate that one for me? SMILEY

I've made it to about level 37 before CR 2.0, and haven't seen any differences or improvements neither with tactics nor with abilities. And what looks like self-defense?

A new district with more movie locations and a story line to close some doors could work (i.e Morpheus dead or alive?) yes it sounds drastic but not finishing things puts people off.  I love the archive missions and find it a good way for brand new players to catch up so it is friendly for old and new players alike so the potential is there!

Why drastic? This is what the current plot is about. But the answer might aswell come in four chapters or something - you don't have to answer questions immediately, that's often the thrill.

The new district's "storyline" (probably not what you meant) will rather be a static portrayal of its gangs and underground Exiles.

As for movie locations, I'm not terribly enthusiastic about those... but would be a possibility, I guess.

((... new, fresh neighborhoods with their own backgrounds?))

My own reasons to wish new districts summarized.

My lack of interest in movie locations comes from their lack of authenticity.

Westview is appealing through its crappiness. That's how it has been designed, as a totally decayed place.

I've always thought it was the right animation...
the back-rolling and shooting might be a part of the grab hit-hit animation, after which the Body Shot can be used.
