I don't know about it being removed. But if it's anything like the reason why you can't send them tells, it's because the name you see on your screen is usually not their real name, but just a database hack--because even we can't have two characters with the same name between servers.

The mighty Walrus hath decreed that I am getting swept into this whole crazy CR2.0 world to convert the existing unique items (collector rewards, Exile hideout loot drops, Construct boss loot drops, etc) over to the CR2.0 system.
This task is just about converting their buffs over as closely as possible to the new system; it is not about changing their appearance, separating them from the clothing system, etc.
So if you think there might be something I'm in danger of overlooking regarding the buffs on these items, now would be a good time to let me know.

Yes, our technical designer, from whom I am inheriting this task, had said that he was going to redesign that darn beret. I'll have to see if he's got a spec for it, or if I'll have to come up with one on my own.

We've been having some...err...fun with the White Hallways in preparation for update 46, and thanks to an attempted fix of mine for the last remaining issue, which while fixing the issue splendidly also ended up BREAKING THE ENTIRE WORLD, we're not going to have a patch ready for tomorrow. Dracomet and NoRepro, who are experienced in these matters, tell me that the earliest we can expect to have an update ready to go is this Thursday, August 31st. Discuss this splendid and not completely surprising blunder by Rarebit in Broadcast Depth.

options.cfg also has screen resolution/windowed parameters. Possibly these are overriding useropts settings. The game also has resolution/windowed command line options, which are probably possible to use when launching the game somehow, something like [blah blah blah].exe +screenheight 600 +screenwidth 800 +windowed 1

Just to clarify something: abstraction of buffs from clothing is NOT a feature that will be included in CR2.0; it is too large of a project in its own right. So this thread is a little off-topic here in this CR2.0 forum.

A windstorm took out the power to our Seattle studio and most of the surrounding East Side last night, and I found the power still out this morning after fighting my way there through confused traffic. Walrus was there holding court in the lunch room with a few diehard survivors, mostly because there was no point in them going home, where the power was also out.
Now that I've managed to claw my way back to Seattle, where we have amenities such as electricity, I can pass along Walrus' message that he probably won't be able to post a Looking Glass article today. Walrus should be back in action next week.
I, however, will not, as starting Monday I'm technically on vacation for the rest of the year, scheduled to return the 2nd of January. Yes, that means no Live Events for the rest of the year (and it looks like the one we had scheduled for today will be, err, underpowered, to say the least).
I'm going to see if I can sneak in on Monday anyway to get the screenshots from yesterday's Live Events sorted out and posted, and to set the Pacification Zones back up on Vector.
Enjoy your holidays, simulated snow, and electricity, everyone! See you next year!

The numeric counter that used to appear next to the "Private Messages" link at the top of the forum pages was disabled by SOE's forum team in yesterday's forum maintenance period. This means that if you receive a new PM, you will see no indication of it on the forum unless you actually go into your inbox and scroll to the bottom. If you need notification of new forum Private Messages while the counter is disabled, you may want to set the "Send e-mail when a private message is sent to me" option in your forum "My Profile" page to "Yes."

The LESIG 2.0 sign-up is complete. Minutes ago I finished sending invitations out via forum PMs to the thirty-one players whose applications were accepted to fill out our liaison ranks. These acceptance PMs are from "Rarebit," and their title begins with "LESIG" in capital letters. Because only thirty-one positions were available, this means I have about two hundred other, very disappointed applicants who now hate my guts. These fine and wonderful people are asking themselves in what way they were undeserving of LESIG membership, and what kind of justice we call it that we were not able to accept their applications. All I can say to these people is that it was not just, it was not fair, and acceptance or non-acceptance is not a measure of how grateful the Matrix Online team is for all the time, sweat, joy and tears that you have put into this crazy simulated world of ours, and for all the help and encouragement you have given to your fellow players. I had very specific, somewhat arbitrary criteria by which the applications were weighed over many rounds of elimination. Very difficult choices had to be made, because while I very much wish we could take on all those really wishing to help out, I can only handle thirty-one more of you right now. In addition to the thirty-one that have been invited, nineteen other applications survived the elimination rounds. We will send individual invitations to these nineteen--who do not yet know who they are--to fill vacancies in our liaison ranks as positions open up down the road. Once that reserve group of nineteen begins to run low, we will hold a third LESIG sign-up, to which I invite all those who have not been invited by that time to re-apply. Please bear in mind that LESIG members are not permitted to announce their membership publicly, that discussion of specific LESIG player identities is not permitted in these forums, or in in-game chat, and that such activities should be reported through the usual channels of forum moderators or game CSRs. Any reports of abuses or leaks by LESIG members should be sent to me via forum PM. It was very touching to see the incredible amount of enthusiasm shown for the game in the hundreds of applications that I read over and over since this last sign-up began. I can only hope that all those of you who we were not yet able to invite into LESIG will take that energy and enthusiasm and employ it in your role as a Matrix Online operative. I hope that you will work with and support the new liaisons who will shortly be popping up on all servers--we will have three liaisons per organization per server, for a total of forty-five officers--because without operatives, a liaison is nothing. They are there to help bring you in to the story of the Matrix. I think we're all in for a pretty fun time of it.

The idea that world design had for these was that they were equivalent to towns you find in traditional fantasy RPGs: places where you can find vendors, and chat with people without having to worry about wandering monsters.

:: Reports indicate that Agent Gray believes he has found and contained the source of the leak. The parties involved have expressed their own desire to disclose the relevant details of the leak to the group known as LESIG and to the general redpill public in the days to come. Indications are that Agent Gray has established the disciplinary measures that will be taken, and considers the case effectively closed. ::

Oh. Well, the cinematic probably cheats it. I can take a look (not that I mean we'll be getting this ever). But we've already had a discussion before in this thread about reasons why a ground-cracking effect could be tough to do right for actual player hyper-jumps.

Rarebit you keep mentioning you don't want to increase the clothing items due to the DB management thingy bit data or whatever. But have you considered removing some of the less popular clothing items from the game to allow for better ones to go in? Example, removing the S&M masks which most female RSI players do not want to wear - replacing the buffs on to Bandanas which they do want to wear, and freeing up the item slot for the no longer used S&M masks.
It won't come to that for a while. And we'd have to be very careful about it, because we certainly don't want to take away pieces of clothing that anyone is enjoying.

We're scheduled for one of our weekly maintenance server reboots at 4:00 AM Thursday, January 3rd. Servers should be back up within an hour or so of shutdown.
The reboot will clear any spawned items and NPCs, so for instance if a certain Holiday Helper had happened to spawn Snow Simulacra and armored/shielded clothing items in the archive constructs today, those will be gone after the reboot, if they haven't been ganked already.

Wrap up this year's outbreak in style by jacking in to cap the Smith Virus itself! Expect all-out death, confusion and mayhem, and, if we're lucky, server crashes! Darn that virus to heck.
The event will happen on separate days for the three servers, at 2:00 pm each day:
Recursion: Thursday, March 27th, 2:00 pm
Syntax: Monday, March 31st, 2:00 pm
Vector: Tuesday, April 1st (yes, that is April Fools' Day!), 2:00 pm
Remember, only *you* can help crash a server. Me, me, me...

- Fixed the missing FX on the Smith Firewall Candy - Fixed luggables getting stuck in the trash on the garbage barge in Datamine - Datamine Tap luggables can no longer be traded
