I
have trouble imaginating my RSI having an orgasm... How would it be
represented in game? I used the word dizziness to illustrate what is
the visual effect of the cake. We can discuss more about male orgasms
and their visual aspects, but I don't think this is appopriate for this
forum.

It was a really nice article. Like LotekGhost said, focusing on what defines MXO on the market: Rarebit, live events and the storyline. I don't know what's the reach of this website but I hope many will read it!

I'm watching this closely. They don't have the rights to the Shadowrun license, they are making this as a pitch for Microsoft who own the Shadowrun license (and in my opinion, have totally screwed with it with the FPS they are working on). I've always said, if there's one game that would make me reconsider playing mxo, it's a Shadowrun MMO...

This is indeed a sad moment... For us, who were waiting for a live
event for so long, and for SOE, who managed to make a serious mistake
which might cost them their player base.
The event isn't destroyed however. The enigma part is down, but that
doesn't mean that the event is useless now. There is still something to
do, if you consider what's written...

Franchise-based games has its advantages and its inconvenients. Taking a rich setting to base your story allows the developpers to focus more on development than creative writing. And fans of the license will be more curious to see what the company could have made with their favorite license. The real problem however is that this is not your universe, and you have to respect the property owner's will. I am fairly sure that MxO would have prefered to never have Morpheus dead. Or that some story elements brought by Chadwick might not always interrest them. But they have to comply. On another hand, if the gaming company own the setting (EQ or WOW for example), they have the disadvantage that they have to prove to the world that their environment is worth making an MMO from, and often, it's through an excellent gameplay that they will lure their players. Here are my views on a few license MMO environments coming. Lord of the rings : this is a no-brainer. Nearly everyone and their grandmother likes LOTR, especially since the movies have made it a mainstream icon, and not only a fantasy masterwork. If the gameplay is good, this will be terribly popular. Warhammer : The tabletop miniature game isn't as mainstream in North America than in Europe, but this extremely rich license, full of colorful elements and a focal point on combat will probably make this game a good game for the lover of battles. Age of Conan : Based on what I read, this will be the next MxO in term of appeal toward more mature roleplayers. When I show MxO to a roleplayer friend, what they say is wow, this kicks *CENSORED*. The Conan license isn't as appealing nowadays that it was when I discovered it when I was young and huh, wanted to be a barbarian myself, but the gritty style might make it a good "word of mouth" game, like MxO. Star Trek : Nah... Not my cup of tea. Maybe great for trekkies fans that want to live like their favorite characters, but I fail to imagine this as a popular game to the common masses.

There is indeed no need of having players in the LESIG to play story
characters. This is not the goal of this program. The LESIG won't
supplement the LET, it will assist it. For example, in the current
event it could have been possible that the LESIG members would be asked
to share information on the streets about the importance of gathering
fragment messages, and even relay the info when the Oracle appeared.

Nice thread. Harp's a math buff, so lets answer that with naive answers. Note : I reread myself and it's not funny at all. 1) Hostile + Tactics = null In combat, the tactical intensity is inversely proportional to the level of hostility. 2) Pr(Catzi | Pylat) = 99.9% The probability value for Catzi to just go away is alas to low. 3) Draw the graph of the following: x < -25 : LouCipher -25 ≤ x ≤ -10 : ZRoe Let x = GamiSB is killed by { -10 ≤ x ≤ 0 : Pirathonite 0 ≤ x ≤ 15 : Reeverb x > 15 : Himself 4) lim(x -> Infinitey) D3athBlad3 / x = _________ As D3athBlad3 gets closer to have Infinitey fully under him, he'll get nullified. 5) Derive the following in terms of s: 1/3(Wolfesss) __________ d/ds 1/3(Wolfe * s^3) = 1/3 * 3 * Wolfe(s^2) = Wolfess 6) Violence – Authority + Kanjo = _________ Kanjo. Both initial variables are too insignificant to take in consideration for this equation. 7) Given the following triangle, what is the hypotenuse? _________ Impossible. Beachhead and Leelia crossing doesn't results in a square angle. Contact with each other will produce a smooth angle. 8 ) (-Omega Syndicate +/- (Omega Syndicate^2 – 4 (EPN) (Zion))^1/2) / 2 (EPN) = ________ x, the unknown of the following quadratic equation : EPN x^2 - Omega Syndicate x + Zion In this case, we can see that whatever you throw at Zion and co, EPN will overreact, OS will try to distance themselves, and well, Zion will stay constant, being lost in confusion. 9) Espi / PWWWNNNNNTTT = ________ 0 In my book, PWWWNNNNNTTT means nothing, so you'd better drop off the juvenile pvper-defined variable and start using real words. 10) Maximize (in terms of Brewko) Y = (Endomorph x Seymour x Disch0rd) + Brewko Vector Brewko-> The partial derivative of this function is simply Brewko, since whatever he's doing, all 3 variables are constants (e.g doing trouble). To maximize this equation, the jacobian Matrix only holds one Vector : Brewko. So send Brewko on Vector will maximize his efficiency, instead of taking care of insignificant constants.

Quote of my October 18 post : I played the trial for one week. I think I spent most of my time reading a book while playing a computer game. Having a ship travel for 10 minutes on autopilot without anything to do in the meantime didn't felt right for me. And the skill system is strange. Basically, you level for leaving your game running for days. The political structure of the game seems interresting however, but the gameplay wasn't really for me.

The will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government, and to protect its free expression should be our first object." Thomas Jefferson If you feed a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for life... Japanese proverb And V's soliloquy to the Old Bailey's statue of Justice, painfully absent from the movie. Quite long for a quote, but still... Hello dear lady. I thought that it was time we had a little chat, you and I... I've been a fan of yours for quite some time... I loved you... as an ideal. That was a long time ago. I'm afraid there's someone else now... your infidelity that drove me to her arms! Her name is Anarchy. And she has taught me more as a mistress than you ever did! She has taught me that justice is meaningless without freedom. She is honest. She makes no promises and breaks none. Unlike you, Jezebel. I used to wonder why you could never look me in the eye. Now I know. So goodbye, dear lady. I would be saddened by our parting even now, save that you are no longer the woman that I once loved. Here is a final gift. I leave it at your feet.

This video is cruelty in my opinion. The wars of the future will be fueled by water, not oil. Check what these kids are able to do for a bottle of water. Imagine a nation. And by the way, yes, the solider threw the bottle at them. But nothing says that the running kid got his share of it. And I wouldn't find it surprising if a fight between them followed. You don't play such games with water. The symbol is too strong.

Broadcasting and posting the names of those who won an event, like the
previous is one thing. Especially when the participation prize is
interresting like this one. Giving a reward to a very very small
fraction of the player's base based on luck isn't a good thing.
Roleplayers are an envious bunch... Give a very good item to someone,
everyone will want to have it. Imagine a roleplaying game where the
only person who got the experience reward would be the one who dealt
the finishing touch to the enemy. This doesn't take in value for
those who made all the efforts weakling the enemy. I'm a writer in an
official worldwide campaign for a popular tabletop roleplaying game. In
this, every player is in competition between themselves. If I would
allow a material (in virtual sense...) reward, there would be jealousy.
Annoucning a winner is ok, since players can accept that someone got
better than themselves. But if there's a very good reward other than
recognition, it's not fair. As an experienced gamemaster and rpg story
writer, I would say that this was a bad idea...
It's a very cool reward however, and I hope that those few who got it
(even less than .01% of the player's base...) will appreciate their
luck.
