I've noticed that, when pasting a text with hyperlinks into the input field, the links sometimes get disabled. However, I'm not sure when exactly that happens: when pasting or during the actual submission? Can I be sure that, if I see the links in the text before submitting, the links will also appear in the post?

In some magazine interview, a Linkin Park member (I think it was Mike Shinoda) talked about Chester Bennington, and claimed that he had "a unique ability to make his voice sound multiple". And, indeed, if you listen to, e.g. the second verse of "Breaking the Habit", you can clearly hear the vocal line sung in octaves (al'unisono), although it sounds more complex than simply one falsetto recorded over one tenor. Is it some complex multiple recording, an electronic distorter, or indeed Chester himself singing this way? It's a bit hard to believe for me, but then again, I don't think the band would lie at their fans. If it's really a special singing technique, I could imagine that this effect is caused by highlighting specific harmonics (every "natural" sound consists of the ground tone [or root?], and multiple harmonics above it, including all octaves), however, I'd still like to know if it's really possible. Apart from Chester, I've also heard the same thing from another singer, namely Daron Malakian from SOAD. In the "Dreaming" bridge, "she lost her mind" and "she lost her head" - the rest of the bridge sung in Daron's standard nasal tenor. Or, at the very end of "U-Fig" (02:46/47), he slightly lets shine through something sounding like an additional falsetto - and it's very hard to believe that it's an effect, or overlapping, because it really sounds very natural. Other than that... maybe in "Radio/Video", somewhere around 02:00. Not sure though. Does anyone know more?

I've never played and never going to play any other MMO than this one; however, I would like to know a few basic things about the MMO scene, mainly in order to better understand others' comparisons between MxO and other games and where MxO stands. Is there any storyline progression in other MMOs like here? If yes, how is it? Can it be compared to MxO in terms of quality? Is it also executed in thought-out live events ingame, or (not in the "either or" sense) by different levels of static content? On a more general note, do they have comparable live events? Do team members log in IC, or plan event scenarios? Do the contents of these events have a meaning such as here? World content: I know other games have similar points of interests around like mission contacts, quantitatively beating MxO (according to someone else, this game has 50 contacts in the entire world while others have 50 in the beginning area), or mobs. My question, do these have a similar interwoven story nature like in MxO? Are there relationships between mobs and contacts, do they possibly even partake in an ongoing storyline if there is such one? How about personalities, or writing? Combat: I've heard the interlock principle is unique. Is that true? Do other games only have "ranged"? How is the tree/ability variety? How good are animations and visual/sound effects? This game is often appreciated for its urban environment rather than fantasy. I don't have anything against fantasy, I think it can be done very well. But for comparison purposes, how are the worlds of other games with urban environments (like CoH, I think), compared to the Mega City? How are SF environments (if there are such) compared to 01/10? How are fantasy environments compared to the other 4 constructs (I know it's stupid to comare worlds to constructs, but I'd like to get an imagination)? Variety, creativity, atmosphere/feel, exploration value etc.. This one is actually rather because I'm curious about it. The music in MxO covers a large variety of genres, such as metal, techno, baroque church music, Asian folklore, symphonical film music and others I'm probably not familiar with. Generally, it has a high quality and variety, affecting aswell melody and sound -- compare the four district if you don't believe it. How's music in other MMOs?

I've seen this on several occasions. Instead of properly spelling the "have", or the abbreviation "'ve" after these three words, they type "of". Is it just a common error? Or an accepted slang version?

Clicking on OK results in the game being shut down.
I'm in hurry now, but I'll post my system information later. If this is a generally solvable problem, however, please respond. :)

I'm looking for good sites where I can download song notes, for the start, gratis or for a relatively low price? I'm particularly interested in System Of A Down, but also in others like Iniquity. Primarily for guitar, but possibly also for bass and drums. Since I'm intending to cover them on piano, I'd really need notes, not tabs. Does anyone know such places?

I think I've already included this question into a thread about other MMOs in general, but I'd like to know about it specifically. MxO offers quite a wide wingspan of styles, moods, instruments and genres, and to me, generally is very creative and just great. It doesn't only transfer music tracts from the movies, but also varies and includes motives and sounds in totally new compositions. How are other MMOs musically? Compared to MxO, how is the diversity and quality? In MMOs based on movies, how creative is the music applied to the original movies? If there are any sound examples, it would be nice to hear them, aswell. PS: And oh, this is not about ingame radio - this misconception has already happened in the past.

Recently, I've found the "over-bright" setting in the advanced video options: it basically removes (sun)light reflections from the world textures and darkens the sky at day.
While I really like the "cleaner" look of the non-reflective city (although I change back from time to time), I'd certainly like to see the shiny sky and the blinding sun above the non-reflective world. Is there a useropts command that allows me something like that?

When performing music, the complex move sequences are all saved in the brain, including techniques that increase capability, and recuce exhaustion. The body parts in demand also need physical training - muscles, joints, breathing. Does the learning process only train the body and burn information into the brain, or does it also improve communication between brain and body? That means, you theoretically have the moves saved in the brain and your body is capable of performing it, but you can't due to the brain having insufficient control over the body. I'm just interested in how exactly this all works, and what all happens during the learning process. (Of course, this doesn't only go for music, but also for everything else - but I'm particularly interested in this aspect.)

Hi, short question there.
Does anyone know a method, or program if I wanted to record the streaming sound from a videogame (e.g. ingame music in MxO), and save it as a sound file on my PC?
IrfanView has an option to make a photograph of what is currently shown at the monitor - is there something according with sound, where I can record any sound coming from my PC for a certain time?
Thanks in advance.

Question on slowing down audio

Is there any way to slow down an audio file, say, by two, while keeping the same pitch, AND retaining the sound clarity?
Whenever I do it (be it Audacity, QuickTime or any random DVD player software), the sound gets all electronic and distorted, and basically incomprehensible.
The way it sounds, the sound is split into a kind of grid - all the little "particles" retain their pitch, and are dragged apart, leaving gaps between them.
If you have a short strike on a snare drum, for example, the resonance ends up sounding like a buzz roll. And if someone happens to sing on the original, the slowed down version will remind you of Neo enjoying his glass of liquid mirror (maybe that's how they got the sound?).
Is that a demerit of my soundcard, or the particular software, so that it's possible to listen to an audio file at half speed at unaltered pitch while retain the sound clarity, or is it an absolutely inherent issue?
Thanks in advance!

Guitar Pro (I assume everyone knows that one) is capable of bending up notes by full, half and quarter steps, however, after listening to it, it seems the quarter step is a bit bigger than it should be - maybe I'm wrong, but somehow, the quartertone between two neighboring tones seems to be closer to the higher one.
So anyway, does anyone know a software which can create quartertones, or even twelfthtones, precisely?

Just something that came to my mind... after an unsuccessful (and maybe somewhat lazy) Google search, I'd thought I'd ask here:
Where does the popular (internet?) catchphrase "I blame Keith" have its origin? Like "spam" or "giant enemy crab" also have their definite origins....
Also what's the story with the MxO character Keith01? Saw Walrus referring to him, and also some Youtube video about him.

I guess most of us know that: You can't move through the world without the performance bucking and stopping for seconds all the time and your character being dragged meters back again and again, or it takes seconds to activate between activating an UI panel and the panel actually showing up. Let's say that happens while not a single program is running on my PC apart from MxO, what are the exact reasons for this incredibly annoying issue, and how can I prevent that (except of decreasing the graphics quality)?

I just wanted to point out that this was maybe not "teh big uber super event all the recent months were directing to". By all means, this will remain a part of the story (I bet it was in Chadwick's story document and certain plots like the one with the Metacortex founder are going to be continued somehow), but unless I've completely missed something, the enhanced killcodes and the EMPCs were not designed for this event, the recent crit packs were not directing to this event, and when Niobe said "something big is coming, be prepared for it!", I bet she didn't mean this one. That was all about the conflict between the Merovingian and the rest, and although this event of course has a connection to this, it's still a rather unexpected attack by Cypherite rogues. So might be the big uber event that destinates the whole story is yet to come. Sorry if I don't tell you anything new, but I felt this had to be said.

So, I've read a few posts where people talked about hidden clues before the finale (referring to the Sentinel or talking to liasons) and how much would probably come out after the event was over. So my question: Was there really anything like that? Will it be published unless it would contain spoilers for future happenings?

There have been lots of constructive complaints about the new system, and here a few positive aspects that were partially (!) neglected by both parties. Since I'm not and never have been a professional PvPer who knows or knew every detail of the system, this is going to be rather amateurish and rather refer to more basic elements and the look, and less about balance, influences and all the other complicated stuff -Melee Free-Attacks: OK, they're not perfect. This isn't interlock so the system doesn't control the positions of the participants. But the moves still look cool and it's something completely new: We didn't have anything like that before, and now being able to perform a move out of interlock and physically affecting the enemy just rocks. And compared to the old multi interlock, this new variant looks much more dynamic from outside: there's an active fight between two people and others jump in and perform single hits -- no more long waiting till it's the next opponent's turn. -Interlock UI: I didn't really hate the old interlock interface. But it's much better without it. Actually it distracted our eyes from the actual combat. However, the rings around our characters and the green/red flashs on the ability icons still tell us everything about who hit and who failed -- but in a much less obtrusive way. -Interlock effects: In the old version, the combat animations were always disturbed by the constant annoying green effects on the character skins (looked like healing, but was apparently indicating IS increase -- not sure though). Saying it straightly out, I hated it. Now it's gone. Yes, I know this could be done without the CR 2.0, but now it's gone and that's really good. Also, I could see a dramatic decrease of other annoying effects in Interlock. Sure, powerless and blinded are still there, and I can't judge about how present they are since I haven't tried out every ability yet. But just speaking generally: There were abilities like Machine-gun Fist Combo in Kung Fu I always hated to use because it made the opponent powerless and the combat look crappy. Now the powerless attribute is gone (and was maybe moved to other abilities, don't know right now) and and it's suddenly become a joy to use it (and a few others also). I know how amateurish this has to sound, but not everything has to be professional. I'm just happy with this turn and that's it. -Upgrade abilities: Something many people complained about: Instead of automatically buffing your character all the time and combining their effects, you now have to select which upgrade you wanna use and simply click it. Apart from the increased tactics variety, I can't really see anything so positive or negative about it. I think the most complainers originally thought they had to activate all buffs one after another to get strong. Well, I guess we all know that's not the case -ANIMATIONS: This is a dubious aspect of the CR 2.0 and I hope, not a finished one yet. CONTRA: -Several groups of animations seem to be missing. As far as I can tell, the wall kicks, an awesome looking feature of MA aren't in the game anymore (please correct me if I'm wrong). The disarming moves have been removed for an obvious reason. While I can comprehend the game-play aspect, I'll still always miss those great moves. There was also an alternative way of hitting a round against an armed opponent: Your character was drawn away and performed some cool moves while approaching his enemy to land a single hit. Except the Aikido variant, those really kicked some *CENSORED* and should be back in. Also, I seem to miss some cool moves in the tactic animations. One coming to my mind spontaneously would be the flying kick from Karate grab. Maybe I've just been unlucky? -Bullet Time: Nothing to add anymore: BT isn't finished. Although I can't say I really hate the accelerations (still some cool dynamics), it just doesn't work always work correctly and should show more slow-motion. PRO: -New animations? Maybe it's just something I missed during my long under CR 1.0, but there are, indeed, animations I haven't seen before. Like the sommersault dodge in dual weapons block tactics or certain moves in grab tactics that somehow seem to be disarming attempts. Aikido for example: Your character grabs the opponent's armed hand, but he somehow turns round and defeats it. And some others, like in Self Defense. -general: The new hit-hit or miss-miss possibilities are shown in the animation. Your character can perform a few moves and then immediately your opponent. The pauses last much less (although still there). And lots of other variegated stuff there wasn't before. More dynamic, more lively and more complex, and less predictable. I was blown off when I first saw it, and I'm still excited. The old variant still looked highly aesthetical, but compared to this one, it was rather primitive.

So let's say, if you report an error in a mission or let's say, about invisible walls somewhere outside (just as examples), can I be sure that it'll be heard and dealt with? Should I maybe report it a few times more to get attention? Or does the customer service really do a great job?
I'm adressing this question especially to the more experienced ones.

I know it's already some time ago since the Holiday event, but I'd still like to know something about the night darkening implemented back then?
My first question would be if there's any difference between different nights in the cycle -- I don't mean the sky but the world. Are ones darker/brighter than others? Do the former nights still have a place in the current cycle?
Also, there's something I don't get concerning the green tint. Right now, the green tint seems to come and go frequently during the night. Was it present before all the time?

I've just noticed this: Clicking a few pages back on a board, I see all messages marked as read, even those I haven't touched. Anyone else?
I don't know if it's an error or supposed to be this way, but I'd like to comment that it's totally unnecessary and very unhandy -- what if I'd like to read through a few of previous threads? I've actually started it a few days back, and now I don't know where to continue.
I'd like to ask to do something about it, or at least to explain it to me.
Thank you.

I've just rewatched the old cinematics, and immediately noticed a significant loss of the visual quality. The blur has definitely defeated the focus, so to speak.
It is just me? If not, is it just the windowed size or the new wma format? No matter what's the case, I impore you, please change it back to the old size. You won't have to jack in each time to deactivate the music, and the whole experience will be more impressive again. Oh, and maybe the graphics return to their former heights?
If it's the second case, please fix that, too. The quality was so great before, why shouldn't it stay this way?
Thank you.

Ok, for once without too much techno babble (at least for now), I'd like to point a few straight questions:
Is there anybody out there who always (well, usually or most of the time) plays the game with optimal performance? Especially in Europe?
Had anyone had lag before and then managed to get rid of it? If yes, what did you do with your PC/connection?

This is just a reaction to an idea from the "Ask the Devs" thread, I believe by cloudwolf:
WHY NOT KEEP ONE OF THE CONCERT SITES UP IN RICHLAND AND ONE IN DOWNTOWN? THAT WAY WE HAVE EM IF WE NEED EM, ADDS A COOL NEW 'CONSTANT' PLACE TO VISIT/NEWBS TO SEE, HAS MORE PEOPLE IN TIGHTER SPACES AT TIMES WHEN THEY ARE USED (THE CURRENTLY BARREN CONCERT SITES ANYONE?) AND GENERALLY ADDS TO THE IMMERSION.
Ok, the architectonic equipment was pretty for a time period, and the Blue Sky promotion posters were a bit ludicrous, but amusing. And I also understand that the Americans saw colourful ads where I and the rest of Europa saw huge white blurry "Ad space for rent" posters.
However, in my opinion they were kept in the game longer than they should -- and they've got old. Actually, they actually only made sense at the Anniversary event, but then they were kept for weeks for the upcoming clip show. Honestly, I was relieved to read about the concert equipment being removed from the parks at last, days after the concert was over.
Apart from them being quite an intrusive thorn in my side visually (can I say "thorn in my eyes"?), they've also lost any story meaning a long time ago. Seeing the equipment stay forever, be it only in Tabor Park, would really not be good at all -- the parks are much prettier without it. Of course, parks with beautiful titbits in the middle or baseball fields (the ones in International and Downtown) suffer more from it than the two rather empty parks in Richland and the barren fields in Westview. However, it still completely destroys the atmosphere if I move around Rogers Way, with its threatening, dark feel, and then suddenly run into a funny blus sky poster; even if only the metal equipment was kept, it would still and does still feel terribly out of place.
If we want the noobs (incl. me) to get a feeling of previous events, I'd rather see added useroptions enabling all the different weather changes than keeping old metallic stuff in the parks -- that would really rock. Message Edited by zeroone5069 on 06.07.2006 05:22 PM

Currently, the system tends to misplace Interlock participants instead of putting them into right positions to each others. To me, it happens too frequently, but I'd like to know about other's experiences and its technical background.
- What are they caused by or dependent on (client/server?)?
- How frequently do you experience these bugs? Does it maybe depend on the physical location?
- Where does it stand on the development priority list, approximately?
Thank you.

You must realize the truth: There is no post. Then you will see it is not the post that has moved, only yourself.

Maybe some of you remember me bashing the game and staying out of it because of LAG. Well, today, the performance was pretty much flawless today.
Has anyone else experienced especially good performance today, or counts this "day" to those with the better performance?
Just wanna find out how much depends on the server.

I guess everybody knows the warehouses with the corrugated iron roofs in the industrial neighborhoods.
During day, the shadows on these roofs are terribly bugged and uneven, and radically change even when turning the camera for a millimeter.
Is this a general problem? Is the reason for this bug well-known? Why can't it be fixed? Am I able to adjust it via useropts?
Thank you. Message Edited by zeroone5069 on 07.15.2006 08:33 AM

Sorry if this thread is redundant or something, but I'm currently just confused with the new flawed forums. Does anyone know the answer?

I'd eventually like to contribute to his 100 images project. Where to put them?
