What this thread is for is coming to a compromise on what is and isn't acceptable in Vampire redpill RP so we can keep the RP in the game, keep those who want to do it happy without leading to threats of god-modeling, people yelling at one another, and so forth and so forth.
WHAT THIS THREAD IS FOR:
-CONSTRUCTIVE criticism!!! (meaning give solutions to problems instead of just naming problems) -Thoughtful comments. -New ideas on the vampire front. -What -should not- be done when a redpill is a vampire.
WHAT THIS THREAD IS NOT FOR:
-Debunking Vampires entirely -Bickering about Matrix Canon and how vampires aren't in it (because we've proven that to be false) -Complaining about vampire RP -Complaining about how useless this thread is -Flaming -Spamming -Etc...
I will attempt to arbitrate the discussion, as I have interest in both Vampire RP staying around but becoming more than it is as of now and removing the anger between redpill roleplayers and vampire/lupine/exile roleplayers. Hopefully by the end of this thread, I can create a list of "Things to Do and Things to Avoid" in relation to vampire/lupine RP that we can all agree on and all enjoy.
Like everyone said, we need to give this a chance to flourish, and this thread can only improve the quality of our thoughts and ideas in this area of roleplaying. So... let us begin.

Yes, you read the topic of the post right. The dreaded Card #2 -
"All By Myself" has been cracked by a player. Now, I am packing
to leave college today, so I can't really give the full details just
yet. I'll post the full details, the winner of the 40 Million $i,
and how to solve both cards 1 and 2 later today.
But, for everyone working on the event, it is as of this moment closed. Thank you for playing!

I'm on a graphical roll today... I got an idea when working on a sig
for a friend, and I ended up applying it to sigs for people in my
faction, to get a rolling theme in our signatures and such.
Thought I'd post them here, as it was the first time I used the
"overbright" effect on characters. (Doing the gaussian blur and
dropping the opacity thing.)

First off: Cards 1 & 2 are apparently so stupidly difficult that no
one could solve them in time. Therefore, at the beginning of this
post, I make my offer.
Any individual who can solve either card 1 or card 2 and e-mail me the answer inside of the Matrix will win 40 million information,
regardless of the card's previous award. After one of the above
cards is answered, the contest will be over, and I will finally release
the answers to both cards at once. Once again, solve either one
of the two cards, I don't care which one, and you'll get 40 million
information if your answer is correct and you are the first one to
solve it.
Access Card 1 by clicking on me!
Access Card 2 by clicking on me!
Ok, the moment people everywhere have been waiting for. Or, at
least, waiting to know what the answer to these puzzles were so they
didn't have to bash in their heads anymore.
A Polite Business Venture Winners List
Card 3 - Gunshots at Old Hammersville High - Triad - 10 Million
Card 4 - Marching Orders - Eyepopper - 2.5 Million
Card 5 - Burn it Down, Fenshire! - Triad - 5 Million
Card 6 - Queen Me - Eyepopper - 2.5 Million
Card 7 - A Fly in the Subway - Triad - 5 Million
Card 8 - Psychological Hattah - Stanislava - 2.5 Million
Card 9 - Crazy Cryptos' Tower of Pills - Eyepopper - 10 Million
Card 10 - E Pluribus Neo Magic - Triad - 10 Million
RMC Special Edition Card - A Game of 9 Ball - Stanislava - 4.5 Million
Data Node One Promo Card - Viral Defense - Triad - 500,000
As you can see, three people really rushed the event and really cleaned
it up. But that was because of the lack of involvement from other
people! Free money was being literally given away for a few
moments of your time! And these people had many wrong answers,
and there was plenty of room for anyone to come in and join the fray in
the puzzle maddness.
And now, so you can all stop beating your heads off of the wall... the answers:
Card 3 - Gunshots at Old Hammersville High
Pltchaos and Mataru go and leave first. (2 Minutes)
Pltchaos returns with the flashlight. (2 Minutes)
Return and Illusionary go out. (10 Minutes)
Mataru comes back with the flashlight. (1 minute)
Pltchaos and Mataru leave. (2 Minutes)
(10 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 2 = 17 Minutes Total)
Card 4 - Marching Orders
Gothique can only lead Ookami Batsu halfway into the International District. Any further, and she would be leading them out of it.
Answer = Halfway
Card 5 - Burn it Down, Fenshire!
Fenshire lights the match first,
obviously. He has to light the match before lighting any of the
other three objects presented.
Answer = The match
Card 6 - Queen Me
A mathematical principle dictates that only n
number of queens can fit on a chessboard without attacking one another,
where n is the grid size of the chessboard. Seeing that The
Chessman asked this question while presenting a 10 X 10 chessboard, the
answer is obviously 10. If we had used a standard size board,
which is 8 x 8, the answer would have been 8.
Answer = 8 queens on the chessboard did Puck place.
Card 7 - A Fly in the Subway
The math on this card hurts because it's an
infinite series, that is you can keep going forever on it.
However, a quick way to find the answer on an infinite series is to
find how far the fly will travel, as it will make as many taps as far
as it can travel. The two trains will meet in an hour, and we
know that the fly can travel 75km per hour. Therefore, as the
trains will meet in an hour, the fly will travel 75km, tapping both
trains 75 times before they meet.
Answer = 75 times
Card 8 - Psychological Hattah
Known to psychology students as the "Illogical Test", the correct answer to test the rule is to turn over the A and 7 cards. The reason is as follows:
- We must test the obvious solution, which is to turn over the A card and make sure it has a 2 on the reverse.
- The not so obvious card to pick is the 7. We must turn over the
7 to make sure that there is not a A on the opposing side, because that
would break the rule if there was.
-We don't pick the 2 card (which was the most frequently given answer,
the A and 2 cards) because the rule states that on the opposite side of
an A card, there will be a two. The rule does not cover the fact
that a card that has a 2 could possibly have a K, and therefore turning
over the 2 card will not test this rule.
Answer: A & 7
Card 9 - Crazy Cryptos' Tower of Pills
Once again, a puzzle is dictated by a math formula. The answer is as follows:
2^36 - 1
For those of you that like to count, RogueA would have to make exactly 68,719,476,735 moves. This is the reason why Veil told him not to bother.
Card 10 - E Pluribus Neo Magic
There are many unique solutions for this
card, and it was the one puzzle that could be answered in multiple ways
and still be right. One of the possible solutions follows:
16 13 4 1
9 2 15 8
3 12 5 14
6 7 10 11
The Thank You List!!!!

See, even Osama blames the Zion Zerg for the war on Islam! I guess it's just the trendy thing to do anymore. =P
Sorry, I just read that in the news and I got a kick out of it for some reason.

(This is a short story written from Return's perspective. I wrote
it because I wanted to challenge myself by centering a short piece
around a single word, in this case, cognition, and relate it to
something established in my mind, in this case, the character of Return
and what she would have to say about it. I don't think this is
the best piece I've written, especially for Return, but here is is
anyway.)
cog•ni•tion n.
1. The mental process of knowing, including aspects such as awareness, perception, reasoning, and judgment.
2. That which comes to be known, as through perception, reasoning, or intuition; knowledge.
There are many paths in this Matrix of ours that no one takes.
There are doors in this place that no one opens, places no one dares to
tread on with their digital feet. Places that I’m sure that not
even the “great Neo” visited in his time with us. But they exist,
and they influence us even though we don’t realize it.
A great guide told me that once. He told me that twice,
actually. Once while I sat on a bench in Uriah Industrial on a
foggy gray day as the rain fell around my black dress. And
another time as his final words escaped from his lips and his blood
poured onto the floor.
Barely anyone remembers the influence that the vampire named Invalesco
exerted onto our virtual world. He is but a fleeting moment in
our history, but an eternal entity living in my heart. The impact
he had upon my life is indescribable, and the knowledge that he
imparted was more than any other gift he could have given to me… even
the immortality that he promised me.
Yes, that’s right… he promised me immortality as a program. He
promised to trap my mind in the Matrix and let my body die. At
the time, this was a very amazing proposition. But now,
apparently people think it’s something of a joke. Like it’s
something that should be offered freely to everyone…
The sanctity of the gift has been soiled – ruined by the “vampires” of
today. They walk about, wearing their tags and following that
**bleep**… that purple haired **bleep**… They don’t know. They were never
taught like I was. They think it’s all just some sort of cosmic
joke that they can pull to look powerful. But it’s not the look
that does it, it’s what the belief is. Knowledge is always power,
and they seem to have forgotten that small aspect. It is what I
know that lets me succeed. It is not my fists, it is not my look,
it is what I know.
They strut, they think they’re special. They think they were
chosen. HA! They don’t even know their own past. They
couldn’t name 3 vampire programs if they tried. They didn’t see
what I saw. They didn’t speak with him. They don’t
know. And in their ignorance, they will never take the time to
learn. They will never know.
The Coven of Invalesco has been broken for some time, but none of us
forget what he gave to us. He imparted hope, courage, and above
all, showed us the way to rebel against those above you. Malphas
and Ookami combined couldn’t control him. They had to resort to
calling on the help of the machinists to remove him from the
picture. But… did they truly remove him?
People think that predicting his eventual resurrection is a part of my
insanity. But I am not insane… I simply see the truth. And
the truth is, if Morpheus can survive, then so can Invalesco.
The places we dare not to tread are places that are
misunderstood. Places of great wealth and partially terrible
danger. Pockets of code that are so ancient that no one can
remember how to get to them. It is there that my hopes and dreams
lie for the future. I know how a **bleep** computer works… and in
those code banks lie backups – the copies of what were once lost.
And somewhere in those banks lies the code of the true father of
redpill vampires. He is somewhere, everywhere, and nowhere all at
the same time.
I know he lies there. He told me he does. He told me to
always look toward the heavens and take what you could get. And
he told me, as his blood spilled across the floor and stained the shoes
of Masterkiller, that he would be back.
He would be resurrected.
He would… return… for us. For me.
And when he does, darkness shall fall. This I know. This I know.

So... come Chapter 5 the Cinematics of the Matrix Online will be
changed up. Apparently, from what Paul Chadwick was talking about
on his blog, they were considering using Macromedia Flash or some other
method that wasn't in-game photography to continue the cinematics.
So, I was just wondering what people's thoughts about this decision
were. I know it's not the most devastating change ever, but it
will be a definite shift from what we have now. The one thing
that I'm hoping for is if they would feature players in these new
cinematics.. So maybe once again we could feel like we
actually got to play a role in the main storyline instead of just being
the favored lackeys.

Ok, I've been at the Photoshop labs, thinking of stuff to do, and I was
perusing the RSI forums today when I got an idea to do a wallpaper
based off of my Anniversary signature. This is what I came up
with:

However... I dunno... it doesn't feel right yet. Especially my
character, Return, who happened to be taken at a pretty low resolution.
Do any of the graphical gurus here have any tips that could help, I dunno, complete this? It still feels a little empty.

Due to popular demand (and some of the Syndicat being unable to attend
the previous time) we are rescheduling the start date for our
event. Please ignore the date and time in the original
post! The new date and time is:
Wednesday, April 19th - Club Avalon - Starting at 7 PM EST
(7 PM EST, 6 PM CST, 5 PM MST, 4 PM PST - Midnight GMT)
That's the best I can do with time slots. Any
earlier, and it's during the working day for the PSTers. Any
later and it's really **bleep** late for the GMTers. Come on! You GMT
wimps can stay up until Midnight! I'm up all the time until
Midnight! =P And if Midnight doesn't attend at Midnight, I strip
Midnight's title and call her Noon! MUHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!!!!
*cough*
Ok. Now, I know currently that some PSTers will be working at the time
of the event. However there are two ways to get around this:
1. Be sneaky. Have one of your friends get on AIM and play MxO if
you have a computer at your workplace. When they receive a
business card code, they can AIM you and you can still go to our
website, put in the code, and look at the card and still solve along
with them. So yes, you can be in the event without being in
MxO. Solve the puzzle, have them send it in... genius.
2. Some of the puzzles have been set to really really stupidly
hard mode. Which means that I actually anticipate that at least 2
of the business cards will take a day or more to solve. This
difficulty means that many people will be able to participate, as long
as they know the card's code to reach it on the website. Once you
solve it, do the usual thing and e-mail me the answer. I will
reward the first person who sends me the answer, as per the rules. I will not close the event down due to any time constraints. The puzzles will remain active until they are solved.
Also, because of the Update 42 hotfix, I will be deleting all of my old
jobs. Which I have like 40 of. So, I will be rolling in
dough, and so will alot more Syndicat members. This means the
prize money for the event will be going up.
Also, we're re-organizing how we are distributing the money. The
"easier" puzzles will be worth alot less as compared to the "*CENSORED* HARD"
puzzles. The smallest amount you can win from a card is 500,000
$i, and that's from the easiest puzzle. The hardest puzzles will
have a prize that will be determined once we get a lock on how much
money we will have raised for this event.
Finally, we will be releasing some promotional cards, so everyone can
get a feel for the system. The promotional cards will start this
Saturday, and will be out on the forums and some other places.
Stay tuned to this thread for more updates on the event. New things will be added!

The business cards. Everyone has heard about them, but only a few people have been lucky enough to be on the receiving end of one. Mysterious yet common, these plain white slips of paper mean more than their look implies. These ordinary paper cards mean someone has taken an interest to you. Someone from the mysterious Avidité Syndicat. But as of Monday, April 17th, these cards will no longer be restricted to those whom the Syndicat has an interest in. Instead, a new set will be printed... a set directed to those who can see the finer points of the Matrix. "For far too long people have misunderstood our purpose here in the Matrix. Too many have forgotten why we are so powerful here. It is not because of our muscles, or our combat prowless. We are powerful because we know something others do not. We have embraced knowledge and information as tools and weapons in our new world. And it's about time we got back to our roots," said Lady Return when questioned about the event. "We are releasing 10 special business cards. The same type we give to our recruits, but with a twist. On the back of each business card is a puzzle. Some fairly easy, others intricately complex. These cards will be held by our members, who will be scattered across the Matrix, difficult to find. However, once you can track one of our members down and get a business card from them and be the first to solve the puzzle, you will be rewarded handsomely. "The Syndicat will be paying 1 million information to the first person to solve any card. Do the math, that's 10 million information that we're practically giving away. And no, we're not restricting it either. So if you solve 2 business cards before anyone else, you're going to get 2 million information. If you can somehow solve all 10 first... you will get all 10 million information. But you have to find all of our little puzzles first." A Polite Business Venture The rules of engagement
When: The event will start on April 17th at 9:00 PM EST in Club Avalon in the Richland District of the Matrix and here on the Forums. How: At 9:00 PM EST, Return will post a list of 10 riddles, each pointing to a location in the Matrix. Once there, you must find the Avidité Syndicat member and request a business card from them. Once you request the card, the Syndicat member will /tell you a code word. Visit our website ( http://www.aviditesyndicat.com) and go to the "Business Card Redemption" area on the first page. Enter your code word to view the business card you just received. On it will be a small puzzle. Once you can solve the puzzle, you may e-mail the answer to Lady Return (Return in game) and if you are the first to solve it, you will get 1 million information! So show up, solve some puzzles, meet some new friends, and enjoy the vast reality of the Matrix!

The condition of PltChaos has stabilized, she is resting safely aboard the HvCrft Arcanus Obscurum of the Avidité Syndicat ships. It is estimated that she should be off all life support systems within 23 hours. All her incoming calls will be referred to her Plt-Bot until later notice.
With the updates aside, there is some business I'd like to bring up.There was a whip which I hear she was using. A mutable whip that has the ability to transform itself into a cross between a spear and a sword. This weapon interests me, as I'm sure that there is no other like it in the Matrix. I'd like for the Syndicat to study it, before returning it to its proper owner, of course. Things of this nature interest me very much, especially when they are more rare than anything else.
I've heard that apparently the Darkside Pltchaos will also be asking for this whip. I implore you not to go find her. I know where she is... in that parking lot in Tabor Central... but you need not concern her. I can reward you much better than she.
I offer a 10 million info reward on behalf of the Avidité Syndicat for the retrival of this mutable whip. Bring it to me, and I assure you, it will not fall into the wrong hands.
Force par la violence.
Sincerely, Lady Return Avidité Syndicat

Bonjour mes amis,
Many of you have heard about the actions of Pltchaos, and I wish to assure you all of a few facts that the Syndicat wishes to make know.
First of all, Avidité Syndicat does not approve of her personal actions as a whole. We understand her personal interests, but we as a whole cannot support them.
Therefore, please let it be known that every action she may perform in this personal situation are not actions of the faction as a whole. We will continue to keep her on with our faction, and she will continue to be active operative in our organization. However, understand that we are not supporting her in this situation, and this is entirely her actions and her actions alone.
We wish her the best of luck... as we'd rather not lose a valuable operative to death.
Force par la violence.
Sincerely, Lady Return Avidité Syndicat

When Matrix Online was first introduced, back in the day, I remember doing a couple things which I thought were *CENSORED* BEST THING EVAR in events. I wish to bring those times back up, as they brought me periods of great joy and happiness when I remember them, and I'm certain that it could help with the following things:
A. Live Event Lag Problems B. Live Event Participation Problems (people complaining they didn't get to interact with the "event" C. Live Event Scheduling Problems D. Live Event Developer Presence Problems (Sadly, Rarebit and HCFrog can't be online 24/7) E. Matrix Online standing out as a forerunner in MMORPG live events
What I am talking about is the use of multiple media formats in events and the creation of a stable alternate reality for the Matrix. Now, it's a big sentence to say, so I want to dumb it down for everyone. The use of e-mail, internet websites, faxes, phone calls.. etc... in events, and interweaving them with the event missions, cinematics, and normal Matrix functions in the game.
Some of these ideas are already in place. One of the best examples of this is the Mega City Sentinel which is used in every event. This is a great and really innovative way to foreshadow events without being point blank. It gives players something to do outside the game, and it gives players who may not be able to access Matrix Online a way to still be "in the know" with an event. Searching through the sentinel and decoding hidden texts, finding hidden links, and deciperhing really troublesome fonts keeps players active and happy.
Back in the day, there were two events which really stood out in my opinion. One was the Billboard Puzzle for the Assassin. For players that did not experience it, there were 6 different billboards, each advertising bug spray, placed throughout the city. Each billboard contained a color and a number hidden in a slogan, such as
"Yellow Poison is TWICE as effective than the competition!"
Ironically, in that same event, we got a sentinel that had terrorist alert color code chart. While it was pretty satirical and funny, the chart held a very very interesting puzzle for the alert. What needed to be done was take each billboard and remember the color and the number. So, for the above example, you needed to know Yellow and 2.
The Chart:
Huge Definite Imminent Elevated Possible Likely
After finding all of the billboards, their colors, and their numbers, it was cake. Put the colors in the order of the numbers they were paired with. Our example said that yellow was number two. Apply the order to the terrorist chart and...
Definite Elevated Likely Possible Huge Imminent
Don't see it? Look closer.
D E L P H I
Delphi. The Oracle at Delphi - a Greek Myth. Going along with the insecticide theme was another poster found in clubs that said. "Hate bugs? So do we! Talk to us at insecticide@lith.com" Firing off an e-mail with the subject of Delphi landed you a e-mail conversation with everyone's favorite Oracle and, if you were the first, a personal meeting with the Oracle and Seraph.
After figuring this out... I was astonished that such a level of depth was introduced to the events. And, I had the personal satisfaction of being able to put the pieces together. This was, in my opinion, much more effective than grinding mobs that spawned on you, doing critical missions, and made the event much much more personal.
The game and the Sentinel were interwoven and locked as one full unit, and that's what I'm proposing for future events, but only on a grander scale. Why stop with just the Sentinel? The "Cryptos Watch" blog is also a great step in the right direction. But, some ideas, for example: (Note, these are just ideas I just came up with, not real storylines. Lol.)
- A website for the Kalt Corporation is found via information from the Sentinel. Hack into the website via a username and password found in a critical mission. Each organization finds a different username and password, and finds different information relating to a new threat from Kalt Corporation. The sentinel reports on some terrorist activity from Kalt, but no one knows what, until now. Cross-referencing information reveals that there is a traitor from Kalt, and he has a hideout in the barrens. Go to him and receive an item that triggers a new critical mission. At the end of the mission, you recieve a phone number. Calling it on your cell phone (real cell phone) exposes a voice chat log between The General and his men, and reveals a meeting location and a date and time. Showing up to the meeting location in stealth, players can evesdrop on what the General is talking about!
- Cinematic 12.1012192 is released, and it shows The General fighting off Merovingian and Machine operatives. During the meeting, the General makes a threat about possessing a weapon of mass destruction before disappearing mysteriously and evading capture. In the new critical missions, hacking certain computers that are non-essential to the mission gets you random numbers. Perhaps 10-.1 or 11-2. Putting the sequences into order (for example, the 10th and 11th things in the sequence will be .1 and 2, getting you .12) gives something that looks like an IP address. Connecting to the IP address via any FTP client or Windows Explorer reveals that the server has guest access, how about that! Hidden in files on the server are surveillance photos taken from a warehouse in Edgewater! It's the general and his weapon of mass destruction! He wasn't lying! Delivering these photos to Anome, Flood, Agent Gray, Kid, etc... triggers the next set of events and critical missions, and some handy credit to the organization and players that found them.
This way, people can have a "direct impact" on the events as they go down, feel more tied into the story, get very nicely rewarded via LET interactions and meetings with characters, and overal are now more central to the plot instead of subsidiary, as we currently feel.
This style would also take alot less game programming for mobs and stuff, make information into a coveted object, create LET meetings that wouldn't be lag fests, take the load off of Rarebit and HCFrog's shoulders to make appearances as characters to drive the story, and create a very wide and vast interactive world.
I'd like to really see more of this, as I believe it has great potential. Sorry for the long post, thank you for your time.

I posted this question to the general area of the recursion server, but I think this is a question that pertains to all of the servers. As I was making my new signature tonight to celebrate the anniversary, I ended up thinking about all of the past events and where the Matrix Online has been, from Beta to now. And as I thought about all of the events written on my sig, some pretty good memories of this game came back to me.
So, I was wondering, because we all have good memories of this game because we're all still playing it, what was your single best memory of Matrix Online? And please try to be serious... I'd like to make this a semi-thoughtful discussion and a look back at where we've been.

So.. the big one year anniversary time. And that made me think. It made me think of all of the moments that we've been through. From everything to Morpheus being shot in the chest six times to CR 2.0. We've done alot around here.
And, tonight, I was making my new sig to celebrate the anniversary, and I needed something to do. So, well, I wrote all of the past events that I participated in on Return. And that got me thinking about making this post. As I was writing down each and every event, memories of those events came back to me. We've been through so much stuff, what was it that you really loved? What made you go "Wow. Awesome." in this game, because apparently we all had one of those moments, otherwise we wouldn't be playing.
So... there's the question. What's your answer?

Recently, I've finally developed the finalized version of the Avidité Syndicat website. This website, running on the Joomla! portal engine, can be viewed at http://syndicat.starprotectorate.net.
Why am I telling you all of this? Well, the Joomla engine works wonders for publishing. In fact, it allows other people who are not me to log in and post stories and news pieces. However, I have to approve them, of course. But, this gave me an idea.
So, I wish to try something I am currently calling "SyndicatPress". SyndicatPress will be a faction run Live Events News Website for the Recursion server. We will cover everything from LET movements to LESIG developments to faction business to player run events. Think of it like a wonderful news site made just for Recursion and Recursion only.
Why do this? Well, first of all, we can compile all of the wonderful roleplaying and stories onto one site, and that makes it easier to keep up to date on server wide happenings without trolling these forums to find one specific thread. Also, it will allow us to give credit where it is due for events that may not be covered by these forums or by the Live Events forums.
So, what I am asking here is if anyone would like to help out SyndicatPress. While it will be run formerally by Avidité Syndicat, we would still like reporters from other organizations who would like to help out by writing up small pieces and submitting screenshots for us to use. If you are interested in a position, contact me via forum PM or drop by the Avidité Syndicat forums and make a thread in the recruitment forums.
Thanks for your time!

In case anyone missed it, the Cypherites proved themselves very incomptent by finding it funny to shoot at me with my back turned. Especially when the Cypherites have an ongoing DEAL with MadHattah for a cease-fire between the Cypherites and the Merovingian factions. Well, they weren't laughing for too long when almost all of their members recieved what shall become known as a "swift kick in an area where one does not desire one". All of their members that acted in a hostile manner were swiftly dealt with.
Apparently, as is proven, the Cypherites cannot hold up their end of the bargain too well. However, we being very cooperative in the Merovingian Organization may give them a second chance to prove themselves to us. However, that is entirely up to MadHattah, Flood, and the Merovingian himself. And I'm sure all of them will not be pleased once they hear what has happened and how the Cypherites have reacted to a simple differing opinion from a single representative of the Merovingian Organization.
Special thanks to Sidus Nocti, Collective, and most of E Pluribus Neo... as much as it strains me to say that, but it is true and credit needs to be given where it is due... for making sure that the hostile activites of the Cypherites were dealt with effectively.
((OOC: I didn't get Screenies... can anyone help with that? I was too busy hopping around like a frog. ))

Tired of Zion? Machines too uptight? Cyptos got you too down? The Kid too young for your tastes? We have the answer. Who are we? We are Avidité Syndicat, a faction raised under the authority of the Merovingian. We are close bretheren who fight for what we believe in - the right to do what we please. Underneath the Merovingian, we are given many other rights which other organizations seek to destroy. It is time to embrace those rights, and we hope that you will join us in walking the path most pleasing. Interested? Seek out Lady Return, Nepeathe, or Illusionary in the Matrix via e-mail or tell. Or, if you would like to leave a lasting impression on us, come to our weekly "Party of Black Pleasure" in Club Noir and speak with one of us in person. You can see the details of the party on the events board of Recursion or the World Events forum. You won't regret it. ((Avidité Syndicat is a roleplaying intensive faction that follows there Merovingian and his beliefs. We do not require all of our members to roleplay, however the faction will be based around roleplaying concepts and ideals. We do wish to also run events in the near future, and become an active part in the social community of Recursion. Dedicated members need only apply, we are looking for upstanding individuals who will follow the faction and our story and help us out in whatever we do.))

Thought you'd never see a post authored by me again, did ja? Well, I guess rumor is spreading that I'm back, so I thought I couldn't hide from the forums any longer.
Anyway, me being back isn't the reason I'm making this post. The reason I'm making this post is I wish to address a growing trend amongst our community. And yes, it includes the recent uptrend of vampires and lupines, but it also concerns alot more than that. Hence the name of the title of the post:
Pushing the Envelope vs. Burning the Envelope
Now, the first thing to say is something very important. This is in NO WAY a slam or a backhand to people who play characters that may fall into "burning the envelope" category. It is simply a heads up about what you are getting into when you play that character, and it may lead you to possibly consider taking an alternative route with who your character is and what you do. Alot of the things I'm going to cover in this mini-article are things that were discussed in both my writing workshop classes and acting classes, so I'm not just pulling this out of my rear.
First of all, let me address roleplaying and writing fanfiction. When you roleplay, you technically ARE writing fanfiction. However, this does not usually EXEMPT you from following the guiding laws of that universe. This is the first rule that alot of people are very prone to break. While we all want our characters to be intrinsically different and well remembered, we still have no right to break the laws of the original universe as set down by the creators of that universe. We have the right to exploit loopholes to our heart's content and define our characters more through those means, but we do not have the right to completely change the universe at our own whims.
I say these last lines because alot of the "rationale" for making all of these new "rule-breaking" characters is, "It's my character / my continuation of the storyline, I can do what I want." My response is a pretty harsh one, but a necessary one. "Don't be stupid, get up off your rear and write a better rationale."
If you don't want to take the time to write an appropriate backstory, then you have no right to move forward and continue to play that character. I say this because it is one of the first rules of writing, history is everything. History defines who a character is and where they have been, how they will act to certain situations, and etc. Characters grow and change through experience, and it's important to understand what experiences they already had.
Another commonly used defense is we all hate vampires and lupines because they're something more powerful / it's something we didn't come up with / we're jealous / whatever. Let me be the first to say that I could care less if someone plays a vampire or a lupine. I, however, care that the writing is good. This is because all of our writing affects one another. To say that your writing or your character won't affect me or someone else is very incorrect Because we all share the same universe, we all really need to be on the same level. Why? Let me detail it:
One of the first and most important rules of improvisiation acting is the "give and take". Any actors in a scene will have an effect on one another. Which means that their character will influence the other character, even if it is a negative influence. Many people forget that a negative set of answers or results still affects a character, heck, even doing nothing in a scene affects a character and their standing towards another character and the other actor. It's important to remember this because when two people are roleplaying, the same rule applies. Bad writing will bring about effects you may not intend or want to associate with your character. Inappropriate characters still have the possiblity of really screwing things up in the world and taking roleplaying down the toilet.
This is also why the "If you don't like it, don't play it / participate in it" ideal is falsified. It is almost impossible for a character to turn their heads the other way logistically. One cannot simply ignore these characters when they're causing such problems, such as vampires. You cannot pretend vampires do not exist, because somehow, someway, you will come in contact with them even if you are trying to avoid them.
However, the overseeing principle is simple: Follow the Source Material. While, yes, Vampires and Werewolves have a place in the Matrix, it is not the hugest place. They are far from center stage, and only became center stage for one minor event (Nightfall). During Nightfall, we were presented with the vampire Invalesco, who requested that he was able to make redpills into Vampires using a complex and POWERFUL ceremony which would require some components and the removal of the redpill's blood code. Here we have the source material of how a redpill can be converted into a vampire. The difficulty of this ceremony only made it able to be done by an elder member of the vampire program coven, like Invalesco, whom we really don't have too many of anymore. Malphas is about the only person who really comes into mind.
Please note that the ritual did not include biting, it did not include blood drinking, it did not include normal "vampire" things. It was written with the Matrix in mind. However, lately, people have found it necessary to begin to introduce vampire motivation from other works of literature. While this is fine and dandy, the least that could be done would be to keep the Matrix in mind. I feel that alot of players are beginning to lose sight of the Matrix and only see what they want to see.
This goes for all roleplayers, though. Not just the vampires and lupine players. Take heed of the source material. If you are confused about something, go back and look at the movies, the stories, the comics, the Animatrix, and the Matrix Online history. There is a wealth of knowledge that can spur new and inventive storylines without digressing to already used or overdone plot devices. And, this material can be used to keep your storyline within the guidelines of the Matrix and not massacre it as new storylines have done recently.
With all of this said, I call out a simple plea. Remember who we are. We are redpills in a system of control, with agents and many other programs. This is a computer system where perhaps anything can happen inside, but it cannot outside. Keep your plot lines and stories within the classic Matrix storylines and feel of the system. Feel free to push the envelope to the limits of the universe, but do not burn and blatently disregard what has already been created. And, most importantly:
This is not Dungeons and Dragons Online. This is not White Wolf Online. This is not Underworld Online. This is not Magic: The Gathering Online.
This is Matrix Online.

Memoirs of Chaos: A History of the Matrix, Version the 7th, through One Woman’s Eyes by Lady Return of the Devil’s Advocates, aligned with the Merovingian Organization Out of Character Preface Since it is very hard for some players to actually want to read the history of the game, and as it is one of the most unique features of The Matrix Online, I finally got up the desire to sit down and begin compiling what has happened in our Matrix from the launch date up to as far as I can into the present in a prose form instead of the boring timeline. There are, however, a few points I’d like to get across before getting into the actual meat of the storyline. First of all, these events are from Return’s perspective. Therefore, they are cruel, mean, and otherwise angry. However, even though my main wish in this story is to re-tell the history of our game, I do feel that since it’s Return’s memoirs that she needs to tell some of the more personal things that she has been through. So, while I will focus on the game storyline, I will break off into tangents of Return’s personal history and her opinions of things. I chose this format because it’s easier for me to write, first of all, and second of all it will hopefully come out in a better prose fashion. I personally find it easier to read a history of something when you get the view of someone who was there. So, instead of a dry retelling, I wish to perhaps enhance the flavor by putting it into Return’s perspective. Second, I have the basic first parts of the story down pat. The original live events were very well thought out and well done, and come together very nicely once you know the entire story to the moment. Also, because I was more involved in those events, they will generally be more detailed. However, after the SOE takeover, we experienced that whole downtime of no events and barely any story components. For that, I’ll try to keep it as fresh as possible by introducing more of Return’s personal events, but I will try to keep things in order and still focus on the main storyline of the game. The sequence of this story is as follows. Each chapter will focus on a major event, making sure to include all major characters, events, sightings, hearsay, and what not. It will also make sure to peer a little into Return’s psychological state at the times of each event, and how one person may react to how the events play out. If for some reason I should miss a player’s crucial involvement (which is very possible), then please notify me by PM and I’ll be sure to post up a corrected version which includes the new information received. Therefore, think of this story as a very large work in progress. And, a personal note from me. The Matrix Online is, by far, one of the most dynamic and changing scenes for any MMORPG to date. I can say this because I’ve pretty much played and beta tested them all. Even as the game itself fails, the storyline never ceases to be an amazing step forward for the genre. For once, a game has gotten it right and has created a truly persistent and changing world where one person can actually have an impact. I have experienced this, and for that I am eternally grateful. Never before has any game had a lasting history or broken through multiple medias of communication in order to deliver an experience that not only challenges your gaming prowess of combat, but the puzzle solving and detective skills of your mind. Truly we play in a world where sometimes level means nothing, and your mind means everything. Role-players, PvP combatants, lurkers, whoever… take pride in the fact that we are immersed in an amazing world. One that, as of right now, is one of the most amazing worlds of its kind that pushes forwards into new and uncharted territory, even when it could be labeled by critics as a failure. With all of this said, I give you the memoirs of Lady Return. Introduction There are many stories in our world. They are created every day with every slip of the tongue, pull of a trigger, and simple thought that may bubble through our neuropathways. However, many of these stories are forgotten or passed up after they are created. They are almost doomed to death the second they happen, and a lot of our very vibrant culture is lost with each brief second. Some of these stories, however, find a way to survive age. These are the stories that seem to glide along the tongue and find ways to re-appear, be it through general gossip or becoming committed to a page of a book. Sometimes, some of these stories aren’t worthy of being remembered. Other stories can capture the heart, ensnare your mind, and bring you back to days gone by. Apparently, people tell me that my story happens to be one of them. So here I am, sitting in a chair, setting down on paper my very soul for others to view. My name is Sarah Angela. Well, that’s what my parents called me after my first birth, my birth inside of the Matrix. After my very rude awakening though, others wished to call me Violet. Those were back during my days with Zion, and personally those are the days I’d rather not remember. The first thing I did when I got out of that military, that second prison of mine, was change my name. Everyone calls me Return… and some have enough respect to call me Lady Return. The latter are certainly the smarter ones, and they include the ones who understand what I had to do to deserve a title such as that. Too many people today like to attach titles to themselves. I find that improper and generally in poor taste. You cannot give yourself honor – someone else has to do that for you. And yet, I walk about and I hear people giving themselves honor. “Lady (Insert Name Here)” or “Master (Insert Name Here)” or the ever popular “(Name), (Adjective)”. These newbie redpills have a lot to learn, especially when it makes me look bad. I have a lot to tell you and very little time to elaborate about it. I know some people will wish to burn this book and the contents thereof, but I kindly ask to whoever reads it that you sit down and take me seriously. Even if you know who I am, even if you hate my guts out for what I have done, they need to be re-told. They still happened, and to hide them from the world would be an attempt to erase a part of the past. I will cover how I became who I am now, why people call me Lady, how I got to the Matrix and why I loathe it but can never leave it, and a lot of the events that people have forgotten in the past that need to be remembered. They may be my views of our rich history, but they are a view of what we all share together. Chapter 1 – Opening the World (Event: Game Launch) The simplest place to begin is the beginning, what can I say? I was new, I was blind, and I was easily misguided into thinking Zion could be my new home. I was still amazed by how quickly my world had changed in such a small period of time. One night, I was working for MetaCortechs. The next day I was lying on the floor of a small hovercraft, people looking at me and wondering who I was. They kept asking me, “You took the red pill, right? Someone offered you a pill; do you remember who it was?” I didn’t know why they were so shocked when I told them that I was never offered a pill and the last thing I could remember before ending up on the ship was that I felt a very striking pain in my chest and was staring into the eyes of a man who I knew simply as Agent North. Self-substantiated. That’s what they like to call it in this new world. Very briefly, it’s a person who somehow figured out that their world was a lie and was able to free themselves from the horror of the unseen prison. Some say that these people have a deeper understanding of the code of the green and black simulation and that’s why they were able to free themselves. Others say that these people are internally insane and just happened to find a way out via sheer luck. Still more people claim that powerful trauma has the ability to clear our vision and let us see the “world” for what it really was. For as much bickering as there is about self-substantiation, people agree on what let me out of the Matrix. It was a cross of all three methods at once. Either way, I was cold, confused, weak, and lying helpless on the deck of this Zionist ship. I soon came to learn everything I know about the Matrix from that crew. And when I say everything, I mean everything. From faction warfare, to the three organizations, to combat; I got it all from them. With them, I got to meet all of the movers and shakers of the Matrix. I got a compliment about my purple dress from Captain Niobe, I shook the hand of her partner, Ghost, I got to speak with the Oracle for the first time (but not the last time) and sadly declined my chance at a cookie – I was watching my weight at the time – and I was honored to be in the presence of him. Yes, you heard me right, I said I was honored to meet Captain Morpheus and hear him speak. As nuts as Old Baldy was, he had a lot of things right. There was a lot about what he had done that… well… I still do admire. The way he walked, the way he spoke… the air about him was filled with command and this deep knowledge. I may have diffused his code bombs to preserve the Matrix, but I still have to applaud the guy for having the guts to lay them down. Where as Zion has absolutely no clue why they fight anymore, I know he had a **bleep** good reason. If he didn’t have a good reason, I wouldn’t have been cutting those wires and ruining my manicure. I’m getting ahead of myself. Captain Morpheus will get his section. As for now, well, I pitied the crew of that Zion vessel. I’ll keep this brief… I was simply just a curious girl, and I wanted to see my options. After Agent Gray and Flood contacted me over my cell phone, both offering me employment, I wanted to hear a little more. My captain told me not to return the phone calls, but I don’t listen to orders very well. Especially when I found out that the Merovingian happened to be someone I actually worked with before. He ordered a few things from my region at MetaCortex. I got to meet him once when there was a shipping error. Charming man… I wanted to speak with him. Apparently that was a very large no-no in Zion. But, how was I to know that? I was a newbie at all of this. My captain would have found out, however, if the operator wasn’t keeping such a good record of my cell phone conversations. What a **bleep**. That’s why they all had to die. A very well placed charge on the engine given to me by a rogue sentinel and poof, my worries disappeared as I viewed the explosion from a distance. My path was set and I began to walk the path of chaos – the path of a Merovingian supporter. I became favored for my cold judgment, loud leadership, and unique… flair. Apparently the Merovingian liked the way I took advantage of everything in a social situation, from my looks to my abilities in understanding what people desired. It was good for business, and whatever was good for business rose in the organization. After a short time, I found myself working quite closely with two others. A young man with shining green hair and a green duster jacket to match, and a young woman with a love for cruelty. We complimented one another quite well, in my opinion. I was the brains of the group, able to formulate plans and conduct leadership. Nepaethe was the jokester, who slung his guns at his sides and was an excellent sharpshooter when he needed to get serious. And lastly, Coraxian was a woman with a deadly punch. She had the same “no-fuss” attitude that I was known for, and it was probably why we got along so well. The missions that we ran were flawless, and we soon, once again, attracted the attention of the Merovingian. He said that of all of the new redpills that were flowing into his organization, he felt that he could trust us with a high honor. The day he met with us was the day that the Devil’s Advocates, the elite social arm of the Merovingian, the ones trusted with the bulk of his precious information, was created. We were allocated three old, broken down, rust buckets that barely could pass as hovercrafts that the Merovingian redpills had captured from Zion to use as a starting point. I still felt proud when I walked aboard that ship though and relished in my new title. Commander Return. Captain Coraxian. Captain Nepaethe. We felt like there could be no end to what we could do. That changed in a heartbeat and an order. Just as we began our recruiting, Nepeathe was called by Flood to do some charting of a new section of tunnels in the real. He came to our first recruiting party, announced what had happened, and we gave him a hug, knowing full well that he would be back in just a couple days and finish gathering his crew.
We were wrong. Nepeathe never came back. The third founder of the Advocates… lost to the Real… forever.
We had a short ceremony at Camon Heights church. It was attended only by me and Coraxian… no one else new Nepeathe as well as we did. Just as we finished the services and turned around, a couple sarcastic claps came from the back row of pews. Flood had kicked back his heels onto the bench in front of him, a piece of paper in his hand, and a nasty smirk on his face. We were being re-assigned. Something big had come up. I've noticed in fighting in interlock alot tonight that there are times when I hit dead space and the characters stare at one another for a while. This usually occurs when someone is about to roll out of combat, and it really disrupts the flow of the entire fight. The pause is very long, and needs to be fixed, or at least some new animation needs to be added to make the roll out look faster.

This was a point brought up in a Recursion thread, and I think it's a funny, interesting, and workable idea that I'd like to bring up to everyone. Darminian, in our ongoing discussion about the CSR team and the "data mining exploitation" brought up a point: "Bring in an agent, make them run."
The problem before was that people cannot Data Mine while AFK. Ok, I'm fine with that. And, well, the nodes may be broken to never ever go away... but wouldn't it be a more interesting use of resources and more storyline appropriate for an Agent to come in than a CSR?
Think about it. Someone is exploiting the system while AFK. Agent comes in, shoots the hell out of him, takes back a very large sum of $i, and leaves the player dead. Stops you from data mining while AFK, eh? And, at the same time, it also fits the concept of the Matrix.
Sometimes, I don't think we do enough with Agents. We're suppose to fear them, yet I really don't fear an Agent at all. I know how to avoid them... and I'm not scared to go into areas of the Matrix where "I'm not suppose to be."
Plus... with the way Brewko acted... he'd make a pretty good agent. "STEP AWAY FROM THE NODE!!!"

Subject: The Silliest Move You Ever Made
Body: Hello Advocates. Hello Pluribus Neo. Hello everyone. I hope you all receive this message well, because I'm certain it's something you'd like to hear. Even if you do call yourself my enemy, I'm sure you can get a kick out of this at Pluribus Neo's expense.
I'm back. Purple dress and all, I'm back. But then again, I was never really gone. Maybe I should explain.
They always say the best laid plans often go awry. However, they never say that the best laid plans open up security breeches like a giant hole in Fort Knox. In my case, I checked to see if the latter was true, and it certainly was.
I was aware of PN's plans and attempts. I was aware of Kshana's treachery to the Advocates, and I was aware of the plans they had in store for me. The normal leader would immediately make a move against their enemy, especially when they know their plans and know that they are in danger. But the leader who could be defined as great knows when to take an enemy plan and use it to their advantage. I have done just that.
That night, I knew exactly what was going to happen. I knew how it would unfold, and I knew who would be struck the greatest blow. And when those PN guards tromped into Outpost Styx a little too easily, perhaps that should have been their first tip off. We expected you. We knew you were after me, laying in my chair in Styx, quite exposed and vulnerable. I personally still can't believe you all fell for it.
Then, you hijacked my connection to the Matrix to upload your program. I felt it being inserted like a wet noodle in the back of my brain. What you didn't know is that thanks to some action from my very kind employer, there was a counter-program already in place. Let me put it in terms you understand: Your program went bye bye the second you used it.
Was I ever brainwashed? Oh no. Then again, you all know I'm an excellent actor, it's what I do. I just played along with your little plan, and while you were looking at my right hand, my left was doing all of the work. Analyzing the faction, finding weakness, finding exploits... perusing your spy program at will. It's not a bad spy program, I must say... there are a few interesting little plants you have there... but I'll keep that information to myself and the Advocates. I shouldn't be getting ahead of myself. And when I had everything I needed... well... I simply just left the ship. Oh, and Phrack... sorry about the mess I made of the Operator. Can't even remember his name! Ah well, I guess he just wasn't that important. I must say though, I never knew human bodies bent that way. You know what they say, "The more you know."
As for you Kshana, let me take the time to point something out to you. I know your reasons for leaving the Advocates. I know your reasons for going to Pluribus Neo. And let me just comment on that. You believe you joined the cause of Neo. You believe you are his next loud-mouthed prophet, or something like that. The fact is honey, you never really did leave the Merovingian. It's still there, in you. Playing people, getting what you want, that's all you do. And that's based on chaos and a self-serving personality. And last I checked, honey, that's what we do as members of the Merovingian organization - serve ourselves.
So, what has Pluribus Neo accomplished from all of this? Let's look at the final tally:
- Bombing a power plant.
What has Pluribus Neo lost / gained as a disadvantage? Let's look at that final tally:
- Important information being handed over to their enemy. - Gained a flaming and untrustworthy hypocrite. Yes Kshana, that's you. Go stroke your ego now, someone mentioned your name again. - Gained a large crosshair painted on all of their members. - Lost all possible allies. - Can now be known as "The faction with the security leak as big as the grand canyon."
Versus what the Advocates have gained:
- Important information about their enemy. - Insight into the spy network of PN. - One heck of a great story to tell future redpills.
Versus what the Advocates have lost:
- Absolutely nothing.
So, Phrack, Kshana, captains of Pluribus Neo, congratulations on your biggest achievement in the land of failure to date. You're right, let me agree with you, you're not a faction of terrorists! You're a faction of incompetence!
Sincerely, Lady Return of the Devil's Advocates

Yes, it has RETURNED!!! It wants to steal your children from you! It wants to take your free time to preach about EVIL THINGS!!! IT WANTS TO DANCE ON FENSHIRE'S BLOODY CORPSE!!!!
What is it you ask? Why it's the RP Workshop 2, Son of the RP Workshop!!!! Yes, that's right, the first and only class on roleplaying is back, and it's bringing vengance. This time around we got new topics, a new format, new teachers/speakers, and hopefully just as much support from the community as there was before. With new players being added each day, the RP Workshop wishes to be the place to introduce these new players to the wonderful stories that are being written in the world of the Matrix each day by the very active player fanbase. We're bringing in experienced roleplayers to express their knowledge to new players, or perhaps those just new to roleplaying, in order to liven up everyone's playing experience. Currently on the teaching list this time around: Lady Return Austrian WGAnubis and more coming soon.... Currently, the RP Workshop 2 is scheduled for: Thursday, January 26th at 9:30 PM EST until probably 11:30 PM at Club Parallaxis, right by the starting hardline in Uriah Industrial
This time, the format will be alot simpler. We will simply have each speaker come up and address the audience one at a time, instead of breaking up into smaller classes. So please, just come at 9:30 and get ready for some RP education, question and answer sections, and meeting your fellow RPers. Full class list will be posted on the Monday of the week of the event. FELLOW RPers, WOULD YOU LIKE TO TEACH SOMETHING AT THE WORKSHOP?
PM Lady_Return here on the forums with your lecture topic, and we'll see if I can work it into the schedule. I'd like to have a diverse set of topics, as well as a diverse set of lecturers. So please, offer your ideas to me and I'll try to get you worked into the schedule! Hope to see you all there! And yes, it's been placed at Club Parallaxis to help encourage other players of other servers to make some Alts on Recursion and join us! Help spread roleplaying! Sincerely, Lady Return

Shattered Soul - A Short Story Series relating to the events of Pluribus Neo's "Epiphany"
Part 1 - Epiphany
Screaming. The animalistic act of relating an intense emotion - be it pain, fear, or anger - to anything around you. Scream for glory, scream for hatred, scream for joy, scream in terror. It doesn't matter what emotion it is, the act remains the same. And out of the many things that Lady Return had become known for, this act was what she was renowned for.
"I'll say it once more, and I expect it to be followed. GET THE HELL OUT OF THE CLUB I PAID FOR BEFORE I MAKE SURE YOU'RE UNABLE TO HAVE CHILDREN!!!"
Return stood on the stage directly in front of Phrack, the leader of Pluribus Neo. She was so close that her straight white hair could have easily fallen into one of Phrack's eyes, if his glasses weren't on. But he didn't need the glasses to hide any sort of flinching motion, he controlled his responses enough to make sure he neglected to look intimidated by Return's face being directly in front of his own. He simply reached up, straightened his tie, wiped away any spit that may have landed on his face from Return's ranting, and calmly responded.
"Can't have everything you want."
The club was packed tightly with people wearing leather trenchcoats, fine ties and vests, beautiful dresses, and other luxurious fashions. If a bluepill had walked in right then and there, they might begin to wonder why everyone was so dressed up for this less than fancy club downtown. But everyone who stood within the confines of the illuminated darkness and thumping music knew the truth of the world that surrounded them. The redpills watched with their breath locked into their lungs, eyes darting to their left to look at the woman in the purple dress, waiting for the Lady's reaction.
Her right hand began to move upwards and then left, ready to make contact with Phrack's skin. But her hand never reached its target. Instead, another black glove caught the hand in mid-motion, and Return's purple eyes darted to the hand's owner. In the same quick motion, Return pulled her hand free of Kshana's grasp and let out one of her signature "hrmph" noises.
"No student of mine," she quickly announced in Kshana's direction. A quick backhand across Return's face soon followed. Kshana apparently didn't take that remark well. The redpills waited for a fight to ensue between the two women, but it never happened. Instead, Return grabbed Kshana's shirt and pulled her close, kissing her passionately on the lips.
Kshana pulled away and slapped Return again with renewed fervor. As the Lady in Mourning raised a hand to her cheek, Kshana began her announcement. "I don't need the Devil's Advocates. I don't need an outdated dinosaur of a faction. Pluribus Neo... the new controllers of the Matrix, have my back now. Know your status Return, I'm the new you. I do your job, only better. Now run along and play with your doll. This is a big girl's world."
Gliding backwards slowly, Kshana positioned herself into Phrack's arms, who smiled brightly at the gesture. "I'll be seeing you soon, Return."
A green light engulfed the two of them, and swept across the club, engulfing the rest of the Pluribus Neo members. When it died down, all of PN had vanished without a trace, leaving Return clutching her purple beret and an angry look on her face.
Above the dance floor, in the upper levels of the club, a deep humming resonated and footsteps scattered across the ceiling. Screams began as the sounds came down the steps and gunfire began. "Agents!" some people began to exclaim. But those who were familiar with the Matrix knew better. The exclamation of the word "agents" soon changed to "angels". Pluribus Neo had set off a Pandora's Box.
Return jumped off of the stage and grabbed the nearest Mega City Police Department member she could find. LinksLife choked a little as Return dragged him by his tie to her face. "Where the hell are PN."
"Disturbance.... main power line... access node... Guiness... Return... choking... assulting... officer..." LinksLife croaked out. She threw the officer to the floor, letting Links catch his breath as she put on her glasses and darted for the door, avoiding gunfire and grapple attempts as she fled the club, other redpills hot on her heels.
------------------------->>>>> At the Guiness Lake Power Access Node, 10 minutes later...
Alot of Pluribus Neo members laid on the ground, Collective shock troops, Mega City Police Officers, Devil's Advocates, Triluminary gunners, and many other factions all looking over their prey. The battle had been small and intense, and some operatives were suffering the effects of friendly fire, as late comers to the fight didn't know who to shoot and just fired across organization lines at will.
Soon enough though, the final damage was calculated. The Mega City Department of Energy reported to the group that a virus had been inserted into their mainframe, and power was fluxing across all of the Matrix. They were trying to lock it down, but were not being too successful.
Return grimaced in anger. She was mildly pleased that they had inflicted some pain onto Pluribus Neo, but was saddened that they couldn't retrieve Neo's body...
Wait... what was she thinking. She was saddened that Pluribus Neo didn't serve Morpheus better...
What the hell... She was saddened that they couldn't stop the virus from doing... more... damage... Why wasn't it working faster? Why didn't it have the whole mainframe in a lockdown?
Return grabbed her head in frusteration, blood beginning to spill from her nose and her vision going gray. People ran to her aid, but she couldn't even remember who they were as she fell to the floor. The last thing she remembered was commanding a white hat to be compiled onto her head...

Ok, so what are Recursion's thoughts on CR 2.0? I'd like to hear what people think of it.
Personally, there are a couple things I really don't like:
1. Putting tactics into the hotbar. That better be fixed... I like my old WASD. 2. No special animations for special attacks. They now only raise or lower the DPS, they don't provide a straight up number. And.... I miss my triple kick.
Let's hear some opinions!

Sir, it is with great humility that I humbly ask an audience with either yourself or Flood or perhaps your wife, if it is her or your desire for her to meet with me. I wish to discuss something of a matter that would be of service to our organization, and I'd like to speak with one of you directly on the matter as I believe it is good enough to warrant one of your or Flood's ear if you are perhaps busy with other matters. I will be open to discuss this between the hours of 3:00 PM Mega City Time and 6:00 PM Mega City Time or 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM Mega City Time on Monday.
I have left more comments in your e-mail, including a suggested meeting location that would be secure enough. I look forward to hearing from you.
-Sincerely, Lady Return of the Devil's Advocates of Recursion
