  Here are some links to pretty much my only attempts on enhancing anything in a screenshot. I'm not too good at that sort of thing and I can't draw to save my life although I guess practise makes perfect. Anyway if these are of any use to you then by all means. I was going for a kind of Megacity Noir look whilst on the trail of someone... I'm afraid that they are only fairly small though.

They have done, but do they still have the function? That type of function would be good, but as you say server pride may be an issue with a portion of all three servers, didn't some Vectorites complain about people who's main characters are not on Vector turning up to events?

been trying to get that to happen forever on syntax... best we got was hostile zones which didn't last long and constructs which is just too much time to get back in.they do have a passive zone tho *sigh*. i can understand your choice, i'll be happy with a non hostile server merge, just arguing the comment that a hostile server takes anything away from the game. god forbid some CHOOSE to /pvp without advantage or numbers.

All I was suggesting was making it a hostile server would take away the choice afforded to most of the population (relying on apparent server population). Merging it into a non-hostile would not take anything away, imo, it would give an added choice to those who never had it and don't rely on it. The ideal solution would be a box in preference you could tick to flag you permanently, while still allowing those who don't want to be perma flagged the /pvp option.

I still don't feel that a server merge is necessary though.

Does everyone on Syntax or Recursion RP? Don't they PvP there? With Mara C and all other places to congregate i'm sure /PvP will still take place. They can even make a district or area hostile as an idea. I doubt being primarily non-hostile would prevent you from getting your CQ's.

Personally I'd prefer to decide when I pvp hence why I don't play on Vector. Its how people some people play, hence the choice. Take away the choice, risk losing more people than we're losing right now.

no one is forcing pvp on anyone, oh wait we got vector for that. those who do what they do can continue to do so, but just like some who don't like pvp, there are alot who do and don't like rp or w/e others do. no pvp is making us lose subscriptions as well.  a merge would populate both venues.

Try reading my post properly in the right context. He suggested to merge them all and make it hostile, hey isn't that forcing pvp on people? Oh yeah!

A merge would quite possible allow both types of people to get more of what they want, but the suggestion of forcing pvp on everyone, when simply typing /pvp has the same effect on a non-hostile server, would quite likely mean losing subscriptions.

And seeing your last sentence, once again is that not forcing people into PvP?

The bold part is the exact reason why I wouldn't like to see it happen. The best reason why I've seen for it to take place is perhaps PvP may be a bit better.

As for the rest, if Rarebit wasn't playing all the main characters who would? As much as I trust players to be liaison characters, I don't like the idea of someone who doesn't have a fully contracted job with MxO playing the main characters. This includes continuity, the same person playing the same character in the same way, a way that Rarebit has established already. Without a proper in house team, big events as you suggest would be open to error and miscommunication and could possibly deviate from the story already preplanned by Rarebit at the beginning of the update.

Occurred in the patch before the winter update. It was including hostile NPC's also but people were so used to double clicking to attack that Rarebit changed it back for hostiles and kept the change for non-hostile targets!

I would prefer it if the system allowed for both players to experience the same bullet time. It's the same fight might as well both experience the same one. Although arguments against could be that bullettime is linked to your own mind and the opponent doesn't necessarily view a move on the same level as you do... oh well. I'm been through quite a few moves and they all look fab!

  It still brings up the normal launcher to select Characters though doesn't it (I installed it on release and very quickly went back to the normal launcher to wait until they fix a few things such as the friends list etc...) so instead of one program opening up the game program, with the SoE launcher it'll be a program opening a program to open the main program. So unless their plan is to bypass the normal launcher when it's finally out of beta (and if it has decent skin settings relevent to the game selected) I'll stick with the original as long as I can. I'd prefer a simple and quick login to a fancy launcher with bells and whistles, most of which would probably relate to other games...

  Re-downloaded it this afternoon, still lists every persona I've ever had on any SoE game, even if deleted (Probably due to the SoE policy of keeping names attached to accounts... if it's deleted free it up... please....) doesn't distinguish between the same friend by multiple characters, doesn't load up my account details, when enter the friends pane it shows my friends that I'm logged on but on all 3 servers at the same time!

It's shiny but until these things get sorted out I think I'll continue to use the normal launcher...

Thats all changeable from the privacy settings of your friends network preferances. I only appear online as my main when i use SL.
So it is. Well I still have to wade through multiple instances of friends and through dead characters. I've mentioned it already before on the station forums I think but I think it'd be nice if they could correlate multiple instances of friends into one and have the ability, if unable to delete dead characters properly from the account, then at least hide them... I never realised quite how many characters I've made...

Hmm... I remember when, as a lowbie, I went into one of the first archives I saw another player of an opposing org. Now the way I set up my mouse one of my buttons targets the next hostile and as some of my faction mates know from datamine, I don't always pay attention to exactly what I'm targetting. Anyway I shot him I think for two rounds of combat before realising but he was complaining bitterly before I'd even stopped firing.

So really what I'm trying to say is that some lowbies (those that are newer to the game) don't see Archives as a place to pvp but rather as a place to farm and being flagged is a hinderance. Also I guess that lowbies might think about pvping in a construct if they are at the maximum level allowed because they know that, they won't be ganked.

Another problem for lowbie pvp is numbers, you don't often see many lowbies at around the same level.

I predict a slight increase of lowbie pvp or at least duels. Now that meeting will occur on all three servers for the orgs, many people will be willing to create and level a lowbie to go to them. PvP/Duels... It's something to do whilst waiting for the transporter beam.

What is strange from that letter is this sentence...

A concern that occurs when merging servers is Character Name conflicts. What happens if there are two characters with the same name from the two servers? Who gets the name and who has to change their name? The rules below will help to explain the different scenarios that may occur during the merge process as well as the rules for Outfit Name conflicts.

Now MxO can't have two people with the same Handle and I'm sure it's the same with SWG (could be wrong, it's been a long time) and with the launcher having that friends list... So is planetside working with a completely different system?

Actually, it was made that way so you don't invite people with double clicks. Double clicks didn't do freefire but /invite =/

I remember the Remove Double click Invites thread where people were asking for this change, and I think it's great! No more accidental invites and I have my mouse set up so the thumb button starts close combat and the button for my lil' finger starts freefire.... SMILEY

I only thought that it'd be easier for people to find the pertinant conversation in a single day's log or smaller than it would do in a months worth (Using Proc's example) or so but I guess if you're used to it then it's fine...

BTW is there a useropts line that can be used to change the location where the log is written to? I got my screenies sent to a custom folder and would love to have the chat log written to a folder in the same directory...

Content alone doesn't make for a decent patch, the dev team have worked their asses off for this update, which includes 3 new peices of clothing and an FX reward when usually we only get an FX reward, couple this with a big hotfix coming to sort out bullettime and IL bugs.

Plus every FX reward we've had is only useful for screenshots and for showing off for a bit of time (or if lucky... perpetually). With that, seeing as the sword is only cosmetic, it fulfils the category perfectly. I would prefer a patch which has a healthy mix of bug fixes and content like this one.

  I wonder how much work it would mean if Dracomet or any of the Dev's decided to put in a numbered incrementation for chat logs the same way that screenshots are numbered and incremented. So instead of one big log, you had smaller ones. One for each time you start and stop a log...

MA or Guns, not to disparage Hacker/Coder/Knives etc... but MA and Guns are the iconic Matrix classes and as such I prefer them and have more fun with them.
