Whereas I can understand the use of weapons receiveing a buff by having a specific related ability loaded, actually giving a penalty for not loading the ability seems entirely the wrong thing to do, is this an issue that has been raised by anyone? Seems to me CR2 has already *CENSORED* the effectiveness of our RSI's on a relative basis so I can only express dissapointment by this approach.

It was a last minute effort, I really don't see any hope for this issue being addressed after the system has gone live, like the UI review (which I consider this forms a part) which has been requested since day 1 I feel this is a significant dissapointment.

Its not a case of wanting the pills removed, but a review is needed of the degree and frequency of use of all healing abilities in line with the smaller amounts of damage that cr2 delivers outside of specials (it is the conclusion of a fight that the issue becomes so critical). The whole point of CR2 was to bring combat down to a balanced level, to reintroduce some degree of skill of execution rather than just a few uber builds etc. More and more heals are being spammed, fights getting more and more drawn out and less governed by what you do as opposed to what you have.... Like the neurodart the frequency of use of heals makes it very evident they are more influencial in combat than other aspects there is a balance issue that needs to be considered is all that is being said.

Why even consider machine? (non storywise there is no advantage over merovs and considering the story can you imagine what the machines would do to redpills who just continually ignore the truce with Zion?):smileysurprised:

 

DA, Immortallis, Dark Mavericks or oursleves (Causality) are all good solid merov factions, plenty of choice I'm sure you would be welcomed warmly by all!

There is a desperate need for more challenge for the level 50's. I can see the skill balance problem increasing as the upper level increases but there is no reason why it can't be done incrementally (why not increase the cap a month at a time by a small number of levels? You could work to the level at the pace that suits etc and be encouraged to stay till next month when you can go further etc). While they simultaneously address the skill trees?

 

Also I believe when you cease getting exp for missions we should get a $info amount boosted by the lost exp so we can mission and accumulate money at a faster rate etc. Missions are becomming a serious bore (even by their original standards) and we need more reward for the grind!

There is no contradiction whatsoever here, and in no way did I state I was bored, only that missions were boring and that therefore the reward we get from them should increase accordingly to compensate for the loss of exp!

 

Rather than run away and go play somewhere else which is what children would do there are suggestions here to help the situation so that people can hopefully be encouraged to stay....if you feel they wont work and have alternative suggestions that is fine but as usual I find myself in total agreement with Caney posts above!

I found this with a number of abilities, removing them from your hotbar and reinserting the ability from the action window seems to cure it.
 
I suspect your hotbar is held over from pre cr2 and for some reason certain abilities are recognising the old buttons!

I was hoping that that was an indication that a working multifighting IL would be developed one day even if it was unique to one class it should be possible (and with dps I can see it working perfectly, only the annimations are required).

At the stroke of midnight the Dev's decreed my fully functional and fully levelled rsi was no longer so. I agree there is a lot of scope for such revelations to be made indepedent of your own character, though there's no reason why 'you' can't be involved in the story even if its just a 'walk on' part (in fact I'd never want to take a protagonist role). A lot of people complain about the presence of 'vampire types' within the Matrix but its a great example of how well the set up allows for aberations and weird happenings - the Matrix simultaneously makes things not only possible but credible if you apply the right lateral thought.

Big Foot? Yeti? Loch Ness? The Wombles? even the popularity of WoW can be given a believable explanation (though the latter is most challenging)

I have reported this a number of times but having once equipped a gun, it is extremely dificult to use the spy-style for IL combat......the guns reamain equipped unless I select self defence for both the IL AND Free fire attacks, I thien have to reslect spy style......generally two or more rounds of combat have taken place during this time, am I recieveing the appropriate buffs during this period, tbh I dont want to fight with weapons while in spy style, cepting knives...am I doing something wrong, is this how its meant to be or is it an unresolved bug?

The location of certain abilities within the spy tree remains a bit bizzarre, while other trees seem to have their 'nuggets' evenly distributed to one branch, the spy is forced to cross multiple branches to cherry pick..... I agree the neuro dart is overpowered for its location, however the requirement to straddle so many sub branches means it really should not be addressed imo until each subbranch is reviewed and balanced.

You pop out of sneak for about 1.5 seconds, unfortunately a lot of factors stop you from going back into sneak and you can be caught very easily in il. At the moment its just about an acceptable but I fear once opponents gain a bit more experience on cr2 actually hitting ppl this way will be all but impossible.

That argument is yet to come lol, but back to th spy-style with weapons but which is really annoying!

Humankinds original refusal to accept the machines status as sentient beings led to the destruction of the earth and the creation of the matrix. I believe the current situation is actually evidence of the machines desire/intent to create a world where both speicies can live together, destruction of mankind does not seem to be a Machine aim, nor do I think it is attempting any kind of punishment here. Rather it seems machines have attempted to create a mutually beneficial environment yet relying on 'relatively' pure logic they are unwittingly acting in the manner of a police state and denying the full breath of freedom humans really need. Unwitting subjugation is perhaps what we see here.

 

Are the machines ultimately any better or trustworthy than humans is an interesting question that therefore arises - There are paralells between the humans treatment/ disregard for machines and the Machines own treatment/disregard for the Exiles.

 

It all smacks of a form of evolution as I have bored people with before, Humans develop through the relatively slow evolutionary process until they can create a superior/alternate form of life - in this case the machines, they in turn become aware and self motivating and driven by survival become termed exiles (this is the general term and not an argument for specific exiles such as the Merov). As each group is bypassed a lack of understanding/fear by their antecedents results in violent resistance etc. It may even be that the different exile groups are individual attempts at machine evolution to advance and survive (the merov may not himself be the most worthy but for the moment seems to have control etc)

Ah, if only we could bring battles to a close at the point in time that suits us eh Tbone. How many minor victories would be recognised despite the slaughter that follows, how many false heroes would Zion be able to identify to replace their lost.......

 

Zion threw all it had at us even calling some machine stooges to give support, and we drove it back, the numbers outside the club were set to embarrass and punish the Merovingian and his operatives.....yet if your camera had continued to take those carefully framed little pictures, what a different aspect would have been seen. Zion bodies littered the ground decomposing into regressive code, the remainder of this 'brave barrage' driven from the area, back to their caves to lick their wounds and attempt to salvage some kind of solace from yet another abject failure......Good try Tbone but in this case reality bites and it bit you hard.....

 

In due time the soldiers of the Merovingian will deliver you along with the rest of Zions misguided zealots to Ookami and she will feast on your remains!...I may even try some myself, I hear it tastes good with some fava beans and a nice Chiante!

Dark Mavericks and Digital Army are great factions as is my own as a third alternative (www.the-causality.com ). I'd recommend looking to see who's about during the times you log as it does seem to make a difference to me, but the whole Merov community is very solid and supportive so no matter who you join you won't go wrong!

I can vouch for Krytical being very effective with his hacker build in IL SMILEY

But although I would agree hacker and spys do still need a some positive attention I would not look to buff the hacker within IL - imo there is a danger we try to make every class to perform equally in every situation and in the process lose the identity of each style.....promoting a distinct use and feel to each tree actually gives us a reason to change and level different lo's - lets emphasise the differences to increase the variety.

Strangely enough there is something everyone seems to ignore when it comes to death here, its called your imagination, it can make everything work or if it is absent it can destroy everything - no one should rely on SOE to find a replacement for that!

 

In any event given that we are all fully aware of the lack of in game consequence to death, the amount of bitching and whinning that goes on when you kill most ppl suggests to me very little effort needs to be expended in this area of the game!

I have no issue that a degree of balancing was required, but the changes that have gone through show a very significant lack of understanding with regard to the use of the spy tree....its echoed by threads of angry ma's and gunmen crying for nerfs but I am astounded and disillusioned the devs have bowed to such pressure...there are competent Ma's and Gunmen who will pwn most spys proving a wide gamunt of nerfs was not necessary and indeed there is a good case to describe the tree as seriously underpowered when looking at the IS vs damage.

 

The biggest issue is not with spys but with IL....for people in IL a defence buff needs to be aplied or else, in anything other than a duel, IL=deathsentence and will be avoided in typical pvp like the plague...the game should encourage IL and to do that when players are in IL a defence buff should be applied to lessen the instances of hits from outside until it is played through to a logical end.....that would provide the most significant balance between all trees because its the ranged Vs Close combat where the most significant discrepancies appear... instead nerf after nerf is hitting the (principally) non IL trees spy and Hacker which can only end when those trees are rendered inffective accross the board.

 

Equally concerning here is the freedom with which multiple nerfs have been applied in a single patch with no attempt to take a measured view of the impact.....we have two abilities clearly overpowered/overeffective in neurodart and paralysing throw...it was their overpower that has been compensating for other inadequecies in the tree (I know cus I dont use either to any great degree).... applying nerfs in stages and reviewing the effect is the sensible approach and again its a real let down from the devs that they threw so much at us in one go.

 

CR2's design is such that you should always be vulnerable to at least one kind of the main damages....whining players have bitched about hacker to the verge of its extinction, they are doing the same with spy...the whole design of CR2 will be undermined yet nerfs continue to be applied!

 

The spy is the only class that cant debuff its own type of damage....complete justification for Findweakness to apply a more substantial buff than other classes....and yet it has been levelled obviously any balance is now violently shifted in a negative direction for spy's.....absolutely crazy!

 

Spy is designed to use and rely on abilities like neurodart and sideroll escape....yet these are so high in the tree every build is using them hence they are buffing builds designed to manage without them.....to inject balance the side roll escape is nerfed, bringing parity to every tree except the one the ability was designed for which now has no toughness buff, no range to keep it out of trouble and hence is all but crippled. It is the position of these abilities that was the only fault not their effectiveness....

 

A catalogue of badly realised nerfs and knee jerk reactions, but sadly a case of history repeating when the only build that could stand against a hacker was mkt what happened .... a whole range of DR clothing hit the game.

 

I'm disillusioned by the fact that this tree seems hated both from without and within, for the first time since I got the game I dont feel like even logging in SMILEY

The change to find weakness is completely wrong and stems from complete ignorance, every other tree can debuff its own damage type except spy, knives comsume serious IS which can only be justifed through the damage when they land........and three nerfs to one tree in one patch...I'm disgusted!

The ignorance is from the stream of players demanding nerfs on a tree they have never used themsleves.....the let down from the devs is that in tackling the problem that hit the tree with the equivalent of a massive boadside making the spy less sucessful in their attacks, do less damage with those attacks and be easier to kill.... and yet they left the very obviously needed nerf of neurodart out... I dont mind balance I dont mind bugfixing but if a tree has been sustained on the back of a few bugged abilities the wise approach is to fix those and observe the impact before moving further.

If I accepted that Spy was a support class I would agree however a spy is the very antithesis of a support class (in a cold war style situation such as we have here), it is by definition a character that uses stealth and subtefuge to get the better of the enemy, archetype spies know to all would be James Bond, Jason Bourne, Marta Hari, Aeon Flux or as the closest approximation to one seen in the Matrix Trilogy Cypher. These characters operate alone and their skills/tools/abilities are appropriate to that purpose. It is the other branch of operative where the label of supprt class could be ascribed as it is almost impossible to identify any soldier in fiction in isolation from his unit (Rambo being the example I am almost ashamed to offer).

 

However it is my belief that the operative tree as a whole is defined to be solo in nature and the only reason any argument arrives to suggest otherwise is that these trees are not working as intended but yes can work as a support class.......in fact any broken tree or ability can work as a support class so the argument is kinda self defeating.

 

As to the Neurodart and side roll escape these abilites have been taken in cross LO's by virtually every class of pvp'er....they are indeed powerful abilities in their own right and when buffing a class that does not otherwise need them (which has other compensating aspects) serious imbalnces occur....it is the positioning of these abilities in the spy tree that causes the problem not in fact what they do.
