Fancy yourself a programmer?

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/459508

program the Light Bot to turn on all the blue squares (do it in as few moves as possible for bragging rights)

12 levels - level 11 was the hardest as only the optimal method works (limited command buffer with option of two functions)

yes functions can be recursive (F1 can call F1 or F2 and vice versa)

I finished in 183 moves

Well after the recent hallabaloo about MSIE having a remote code execution flaw in its XML parser I just recieved notice from McAffe that a similar flaw exists in Mozilla/FireFox.

And they patched it as fast as Microsoft did. Check you are up to date.

Mozilla Firefox Layout Engine Remote Code Execution Vulnerabilities [MTIS08-213-A]

Threat Identifier(s)

CVE-2008-5500; CVE-2008-5501

Threat Type

Vulnerability

Risk Assessment

Medium

Main Threat Vectors

Web; E-Mail

Yes

Description

Memory corruption vulnerabilities in Mozilla Firefox, Thunderbird, and SeaMonkey may lead to remote code execution. The flaws are specific to crashes in the layout engine within Firefox and other Mozilla products that share the same browser engine. Under certain circumstances, memory can become corrupted, leaving the application in an exploitable state.

Importance

Community Residual Self-Image Demon Army Trench ... help! Demon Army Trench ... help! phi 0 12/13/2007 21:27
I have searched and it would appear that any images hosted of the Demon Army Trench have been taken down. :/

I am doing a portrait for a certain well known ... She-devil, I guess... of Recursion as a favour.
If anyone could post a high-detail pic of the front and the back of the trench (or the black version) it would be greatly appreciated.

The red would be better if at all possible.

The larger and higher detail the better.
Please be awesome.

EDIT: I searched a bit harder and found a few images on here.. but they're all at funny angles making it very hard to see the shoulder/chest area clearly. Square-on and up close would be best. Can't disappoint the ladies.

Community General Discussion An apology An apology phi 0 11/08/2006 04:37

I for one would like to apologise to Walrus, Rarebit, Brewko and any other MxO staffers that have been personally attacked during the recent "Tetra" happenings.

Shame on those members of this community who, rather than structuring a compelling argument, researching their facts or even just being realistic, take it upon themselves to personally attack those staff members whom without which THIS GAME WOULD NOT EVEN EXIST!

Villifying someone whom you have never met, and have only developed an opinion of via those on the recieveing end of dicipline, shows your immaturity and ignorance.
I am not supporting the rename decision but I AM disgusted and apalled at the personal attacks, the abuse and the band-wagonish behavior exhibited by some members of this community.

Now I do not approve of the renaming, however I have lodged my objection in a clear and concise way and that is the end of my involvement (for now at least).
To those who say "But Brewko is always in the middle of these things!"... It's his job as head of the CSRs to be the public face for these major player interventions (the ones that usually cause the most friction). The enemy here is not CSR Brewko (whom is quite personable I hear from those that have met him at E3), but rather an over-streched department (managing the CSRs for a number of games without the resources to really get to know them as imtimately as the players and fans) combined with a naming policy that is somewhat inappropriate for a game of this nature.

Please keep in mind that the budget for running MxO doesn't cover the LET we so sorely need, what makes you think other departments aren't over-streched?

So again sorry to those unjustafiably personally-attacked, from those of us who appreciate your hard work.

As for what becomes of this thread after it fills with the usual garbage? Delete it. Lock it. Frame it and hang it from your Christmas tree. I don't care, I've said what I wanted to.
Those that take this seriously will heed it, those that don't will demonstrate their foolishness no-doubt.

*edit: typo fix*

Aparently he jumped infront of the Oracle and took the kill-code bullet designed for her.

Last I heard he's going to be OK.

Possible side-effects of a human being hit with a program kill-code? It really knocked Agent Pace around. Is it likely that there will be cheat-code side-effects on him or possibly it could be dangerous for him to come into contact with the Oracle...

Discuss.

Community General Discussion Call me slowpoke, but... Call me slowpoke, but... phi 0 05/13/2008 19:05
A thought occurred to me earlier when reading through the MxO Wiki (thinking it might need an update).

I was reminded of the Event (around the time Seraph went on an override program removal spree) where an agent told a cypherite that there is no reinsertion process.

Then something clicked and now I'm wondering if there might be a link between Halborn, Carlyne and any others there might be... and all the redpills that have supposedly been re-inserted.

I could be on the wrong track here (and it's quite possibly an idea that's already been tossed around)... but it does make you wonder.
Community General Discussion 11.2 & 11.3 11.2 & 11.3 phi 0 11/14/2008 17:15

Am I missing something obvious... how do I get the decel bit required to trade with the 11.2 completion token to get the 11.3 token?

Community General Discussion Well... I guess it had to happen. Well... I guess it had to happen. phi 0 01/04/2009 21:31

I'm subscribed for a few more months (my sub. expires June 11th), but I've decided to call it quits.

It wasn't an easy decision, after all MxO has been in my life much longer than many things, and you all feel like family.

I always thought I'd be here 'till MxO went offline, but extensive boredom has set in. I didn't even log in for the winter event? (is it still going? I have no idea).

Thanks to the devs and staff for their hard work.

Thanks to the players that gave the extra effort that really made MxO worth playing.

There is no more "epic" story. Frankly the story was the reason I started playing and the reason I stayed so long.

But when there are 3 players online whenever I play (I long ago lost count of the number of /who commands that returned only me) and it has been well over a year since I saw an official character.

I established my RSI's look years ago and have no desire for pvp as there is very little skill to it... more of a who has the best stuff wins situation. So I've invested in a number of FPS type games for my 360 (and PC) and all of a sudden gaming is fun rather than a chore again.

My 360 gamertag is "phi AU" if you want to catch up with me...

I had a good run and got to try my hand at pretty much everything: co-founded a faction, run a faction site, worked my way up to ship captain, spoke to most major characters, saw beta, was a mod (I never said I was a good one ), submitted fan art, DJed for a station, saw pretty close to 100% of static game content, wrote some fanfic, earnt free play time by pwning tech help, caused and participated in my fair share of recursion drama, etc... I don't feel hard done by, it's just time for a change.

Most of all I'll miss the day-to-day on these forums.

I may come back in the future if something worthwhile happens... but I doubt it. (MxO is pretty much in "just keep it running" mode now... and has been for a while).

Thanks for everything guys and gals. It's been a heck of a ride.

Special thanks to The Kings of Never, Fallen Horizon, Nicks, Network Imperium, Phluff, MCDOE, Furious Angels, Jurymen and Rarebit.
