For all the grief I give Insertion and PBlade on Vector, you guys definitely rock. You tend to make the game worthwhile and I congratulate you on making it more than PVP. It's RP and progression despite a Hostile environment.
Community General Discussion Agent Gray and the Smith's Virus Re:Agent Gray and the Smith's Virus Zerotolerance 0 10/18/2006 13:19

My only concern is the fact that the Machines seem very oblivious to certain things happening within the Matrix. It explains how the Merovingian can keep his power, afterall. If you read up on Exiles, you'll find out that not all of them started as programs but as actual Machines who were marked for deletion and found escape into the Matrix. If that's at all possible, doesn't that explain that the Machines themselves fight amongst one-another? They're alot like humans and that gives birth to how Smith could amass so many followers. Also, he might have wanted to tear everything down and have it rebuilt in his own image. Or he was so devastated by Neo dying, becoming alive, and killing him that he was missing a part of his code.

He was no longer bound by his programming when something in it was blown away, perhaps even by witnessing a human escape death in the Matrix. But we all know that when he returned it was possible that The Oracle had done something to Smith. She obviously knew what she was doing when she set Neo up to sacrifice himself to Smith. Let's not overlook how precise The Oracle can be when tampering with a System that The Architect is supposedly in charge of. Dissention in the ranks...

I know plenty of Machines on Vector agree with Smith, but I personally follow Gray regardless of whatever's wrong with him. I answer to Gray, Pace, and our liaisons as they are still the face of the Machines. However, if Gray is infected we can attribute it to the Machines mistakes as they had before. Or something was planted. Or something's just plain wrong, but we don't know and won't know what it is for quite some time. It's the mystery and intrigue and what keeps us a part of the story. Finding out.

E Pluribus Neo = Extremists. They are fighting just for the sake of fighting. They follow The Kid because they have an adolescent mentality.
Zion = Experiencing a cold war, they're always curious of what the Machines are up to. They don't see the enemies right next to them.
Cypherites = Want to sleep and want there to be no chance of someone else waking them up again. Wish this on others as well.
Merovingian = Redpills that don't trust Zion, they turn to the Merovingian because he has the most foreseeable power. He can protect them.
Machines = The Commandos are proof that they don't wish to war with the humans again. They mainly care about stability/power now, so they have allowed Redpill sympathizers to join their struggle against the various glitches that remain since the last instance.

Remember, there was a reset at the end of the third movie. It's a new instance, but we don't even know if/when the Code of the One will be reinserted. If it hasn't been already. But I don't see that coming along anytime soon because it's anticlimatic. NO PLAYER should ever become The One, and that ruins the goals some of you might have. :p While I find the Anome threat to be corny, it forms and proves my point about the Zion org above. Not from Vector or Recursion perspectives, but the story itself. It's a nice temporary distraction, though. We need fillers before they start throwing in some good storylines. You can't kill Morpheus and bring him back in six months. But people who have played since Beta might actually like having to wait two or three years before Morpheus resurfaces... It suspends disbelief if it's handled properly. Stop asking questions OOC and if you ask the questions IC the answers might be more appealing.

I sound like a RPing carebear. SMILEY

Community General Discussion Whats left for mxo? Re:Whats left for mxo? Zerotolerance 0 01/09/2007 15:58

The only thing about this thread's original post that I found personally foolish was the mention of there not being a need for the Merovingian and Machine operatives. In any MMO you have multiple sides to play which help to support PvP -- one of our main reasons of existence over on Vector-Hostile. You need multiple sides. I think we're lucky that unlike acclaimed games like WoW get two sides to choose from, we get three. And to make matters even better, we also get Cypherite or EPN tags which brings the total to five orgs to choose from. It's sad for me to see RP go out the window, as we have so much potential for justifying our reasons for choosing our orgs. We have choices; we have options. You know I wouldn't mind seeing other tags appearing later on, in green or purple, to associate us with other splinter-groups.

Now if only I could kill Cypherites and Zion could kill EPN. SMILEY

I get a very personal feel from my own Machine liaison on Vector, which means I feel that the LESIG should definitely be more active for the other sides across all servers. You get a sense of belonging when dealing with your liaison as well and perhaps it could one day pay off with interaction with the storyline characters. You need to play the game and roleplaying, puzzle-solving, interaction is the way this one was meant to be played. I participated in a two-month-long puzzle-event that ended with me sharing a mission team with a Zion, a Merv, and The Oracle. Did I get any special items? No. But I got some direct contact with a dev, which is more important to me.

Sure, items are a bonus but they aren't necessary. However, the Area K was a great addition to the game. It is content that we take for granted because we as customers tend to be greedy. We got that, so it's old news. What's next for ME, ME, ME?! Items are being added to give us more endgame content, but in order for the Dev team to keep up the updates, fix problems in place since Monolith, AND get out new chapters and Live Events they need to manage their resources. Give them time to work out some of the issues we have now so that we can look forward to the POSSIBILITY of content later. Just so that you know, by clicking accept of the EULA every time you login, you agreed to a service that you can leave at any time with an online experience that may vary. Generally, this speaks towards latency issues over the internet, but it also can be applied to your satisfactory rating. If not satisfied, maybe not click it? It's an MMO. There are others and some of us choose to be here because it's a better option than Night Elves, OVERLY MASSIVE communities, or Magic Missile...

Yeah, by the way, I like when the server isn't jampacked... Turn up the pedestrians and feel like a Redpill's supposed to feel...

Things can be changed for the better, but I am trying to remain positive here amidst a bunch of negativity. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day. For what it's worth, you could be right. Afterall, it didn't fall in a day either. Until I hear a press release of SOE closing down the game, I'm not buying into that "this game is dying" crap. The Station Pass price went up recently and SOE's about to release several more games, including Vanguard. MXO, amongst other games, have in-game advertisement with sponsors supporting them. There's a number of inactive players with active accounts. Servers may look dead, but the game is still profitable.

Plus, I'm sure they pay Walrus in pounds of fish.

Community General Discussion Will MXO ever get popular again? Re:Will MXO ever get popular again? Zerotolerance 0 01/15/2007 21:29

The game ultimately needs a re-release with a few new features. Maybe five more levels, since there's NPC's set at level 55. I find that personally defeating to know that we'll never be as good as Ghost. To that end, why is Niobe 60 if Ghost is 55? They were always supposed to go hand-in-hand as a duo. At least that's how they were setup in all the other Matrix canon.

A re-release would help us with a temporary, if not lasting, influx of new players.

Community General Discussion We've done our bit...have you? Re:We've done our bit...have you? Zerotolerance 0 04/29/2007 14:30

It's been eight years since The Matrix was first released into theaters. It was new, exciting, and fresh... Was...

Most people use Matrix in jokes/punchlines these days, as the glamour has worn off with the majority of people. Gamers, fickle people, often move on once they realize there's no more content to be had aside from live events. Gamers, typically younger folks and college students, don't justify their fifteen bucks as well spent when they can only interact with a few people at a time. Our population has diminished so much that it's not a friendly place for someone who is new to the game... It's ghost-town, much as Anarchy Online or Ultima Online... And AO is free; UO has a lower subscription fee.

The person who stated that we're at our core playerbase is absolutely correct in that statement. There's some people that play off and on, but for the most part those who make contributions to the forums are the ones who have stuck it out and remained. But even they wear thin and eventually run out of optimism. It's been stated all across this thread...

This game's been dying for the year and half I've played. I've acquired five players in my time playing this and they've all left within the first month. The person who brought me in has left. You either love this game because you're a hardcore fan and enjoy the release from all the medieval-fantasy MMO's or you're like everyone else in the world -- content to be one of the faceless millions running about Azeroth. WoW is huge and even though I don't like it, I feel that's because I'm concerned about substance.

We're all concerned about substance.

Substance won't remain if SOE does not actively promote this game, though. Because more and more of the core playerbase are becoming fed up, finding it a challenge to jack-in... It's only a matter of time before those core players make the decision to cancel their sub, as there's no longer a point... They'll go and then eventually return, but what will they be returning to? Instead of 100 players, they'll return to 80. They'll resign, then return again a month later to 40... And so on and so on...

Until it's just five of us and a car commercial on a billboard paying for this.

I would have to say maybe 25% is left from what i have seen.

LOTR:O is a mediocre MMO at best, riding off the tailcoats of the trilogy...

The same thing can ALMOST be said of this game, though. Fortunately, we still get better content in the form of Live Events and PVP. As far as I know, LOTR:O gives you options to play a 'good guy' only. Man, Elf, Dwarf, or Hobbit. Plus, it's a medieval-fantasy game. Don't you think that genre has gotten a bit old?

Now the Shadowrun game that's in the works... That's going to make me pee myself.

Yeah, but what about the people who still genuinely love the game, and the newcomers who are just starting with it? I have high hopes with the Station Launcher pulling in new interest.

The new perma-trial on the brand new SOE Launcher is very nice and helps MxO a lot. It's a nice, small first step (or crawl depending..). Now, the interesting figure I would like to see are the conversion rates of these MxO trial accounts in the first month that the SOE Launcher goes Live.

Apparently this thread is where you go to get Mainframe Invader. Lawl?

Personally, I think the rare ranks are a nice touch. But how is it determined that someone will be a Femme Fatale or Security Expert? The only thing I've never understood is the Operator/Veteran Operator title from a RP perspective - but now I am reading far too much into the rankings. I think that while Operator is a nice lower rank, mixing Veteran with Operator can be somewhat insulting to a Redpill when you've considered the MXO lexicon. Just my opinion.

Community General Discussion The Matrix Online on current News. Re:The Matrix Online on current News. Zerotolerance 0 06/04/2009 16:56

When I tried to go to Live and/or Chat support on the SOE support site the links were all broken. I was getting 404's. The links weren't even for MXO in particular...

Raijinn and Virrago are doing the best they can to deliver answers, so I know not to put blame on you guys. You've posted responses with plenty of empathy. In this thread alone I read numerous times how you understand what we're going through and how you won't have answers until something official trickles down. It's apparent that even though CSR's and forum moderators, the direct liaisons between customers/players and SOE, aren't even given the proper tools (re: factual information) to give a proper explanation or sorting of the mess.

If SOE is going to leave its employees in the dark then how much does the money-machine truly care for its clients? I subscribed on the last day of May after plenty of debate, though I was confident that I'd joined before the June 1st deadline. In fact is shows on my Payment History that I'd paid for the service on 5/30/09.

Termination of the Matrix Online service is not a breach of contract itself according to the EULA. Service can be cancelled at any time for any reason - a reason that SOE need not specify. However, I always expected that to be in there as a sort of placeholder for legal reasons. Sort of a "Cover Your Arse" deal, ya know? Never thought it would be used to p*ss me off like this.

I hope I can get back in-game before it's all done but I will grudgingly understand if I can't.
