Oh man... Eris was Unese's boss, the one we were told to take down. In order to do that, we had to befriend Unese first and get hired by her, so that she'd show us the way to Eris.
ya i understood that, but now is the email I got saying we have to be at this meeting to get hired on the 13th still happening?
Dunno. Maybe yes, maybe not. If it is, we'll just get an occasion to kill Unese. The primary objective is completed anyway.

So Unese did show up. IntegratedOne delivered an epic double-fail by telling her she's going down and by not making it happen thereafter. But what's interesting: she said she was now working for someone else, not Eris.

Yeah, when its all current and relative but so many months down the line it won't matter anymore and there'll be no point in denying 1/3rd of the theoretical player base 2/3rds of the content and/or story. Still restrict the rewards, sure, but have us able to run the story side of things. All I'm saying is these story quests should be archived in a similar fashion to how the Archive missions are now, unlocked a chapter at a time.
I agree with Cloudwolf wholeheartedly. And I'd like to ask Rarebit to consider this request if I may.

I'd really like it if we could have a discusson with Rare (or at least a reaction) about the possibility to archive the 11.3 quests. I guess it's obvious that a lot of players support the idea to get them archived without the quest-related loots...

Anyway, I'd like to bring up the following questions again: are the reports of all the three meetings and the upcoming party be posted in the "Live Events" section? If not - why? I can't see any reason why this could not be made... We have no more story summaries, Rarebit didn't say anything on the idea to actually archive the 11.3 quests... Don't tell me that even the LE section itself will be abandoned?!

Like Darminian, sometimes i just want to throttle everyone for having the most Whacked out ideas about whats going on in the story. Otherwise, didnt agree with him much. however, in looking through some of Rare's responses to the machine meeting thread, he has clearly openly stated that he was there to get feedback on operatves Ideas about the story, what interests them, etc. This is the FIRST Chapter of this new approach. Rare has claimed that he wants a more OPEN storyline, that is less-linear.... Do we expect him to accomplish that by coming in and telling us what the story is? I think what I saw is Rare establishing an opening move... come in and ask questions. Now that hes got some answers, we may see responses in the Cinematic and Missions on the next Update. I would also like to think that we will return to a certain number of LE's over the course of the next update. And I expect that, if we look closely, Those events will address exactly the things that we discussed in the meeting. Guess I'm saying, don't throw in the towel yet people. But i too hope that this is just the initial phase... if we go a month or two with the same basic approach, Im just gonna reduce my presence and become an occasional show up and PvP player. Waiting to see....
Well, if it turns up to be true, I'll give it to thumbs up and reconsider what I said about my dissapointement. Honestly.

Well, I guess I just have to say that: I feel rather disappointed about the meeting. Not because of the formula itself though - it has every right to exist if you ask me. But the fact that we obtained literally no answer at all, learned nothing new or at least substantial leads me to the question: was the meeting necessary at all? I sure like chatting with Niobe, but given it's practically the only live event we get in one month, I think it should provide at least some story development. That was not the case. The Zion meeting is the first "big" thing I'm disappointed with in the whole "New Approach" though. But it's an important point. So I hope Rarebit will find a way to improve this part of the gameplay.

I tend to agree with most of the suggestions but the idea to force all the 3 orgs to collide for a PvP event. Sometimes the story just does not justify a three-side conflict.

I wouldn't go as far as that. For example, the story "Goliath" (Comic Volume 1) is really in contradiction with the Matrix Universe as a whole. MxO is at least NO LESS canon as the comics to me.

First of all - thank you! I'm not really a veteran for this game since I'm playing only about one year, but I already had so much great moments in this game it's hard to even count. The story you were telling kept me interested more than I ever was in any video game, and I was eagerly looking forward to every big update to know where you'll take us next. The more I learned though this one year about what you do for the game, the more I was astonished by your devotion and the amount of things you do for us, players. Honestly, even though I have not seen the "gold times"of the MxO, I still think you did an awesome job. And I am very much grateful to you for giving me personnally one full year of excitement. I needed this at the time I first tried this game man, and I'll never find the words to tell you how much you will be missed. I don't know if anyone (if we really have someone) could take your place to keep the things you worked on alive. I guess we'll need that, too. To you, I wish plenty of good luck in whatever you're going to do next in your life. A childish part of me is so tempted just to say "please don't go!', even though I realise it would be a very selfish thing to say... I will miss you.

What's the point of an update and a EPN Live Event if everything's going to hell? The counter logic to that is maybe someone or maybe a group of people may be taking over.
For example, the recent appearance of old Liaisons may indicate something. As well as the end of the EPN event, which clearly hints there's way more to be done. I dunno if I'm right about it, but it seems to me like Rarebit himself didn't expect to leave just now. It looks like a really fresh decision. But that's just my impression.

I see it this way: As long as enough people are subbed to keep this game afloat, it's not going anywhere. So it really will come down to us. While the lack of an updated story, the absolute death of LE's, and lack of additional content will be rough, there will be many who have no intent to leave until the servers are shut down.
I put myself in this category, and hope that the story will continue in some form.

Rip out the network stuff from the server, make into a single player thing. Let's do the math... Suppose SOE doesn't want to outsource it and do it inhouse.... let 1 of the last MXO developers work on a conversion for a year full-time (making some small extra stuff: more rapid leveling, more info, clothes shop, ...)... don't advertise the game, just make a pre-order button on amazon and send all old-subscribers an e-mail when the game is ready (no Steam, no copy protection, send the DVD in a plain white box). Suppose 10.000 people would buy the game as lower limit, I would expect all people in the game the last 2 months to buy a copy. Treat it as a high end-game... 40euro a piece... 400K euro income as lower limit. That's a no-brainer... pretty easy ROI... and instead of 10.000 customers use the number of active people in the last 2 months of MXO. Ongoing franchise without a lot of cost, more positive people on SOE...
Well, I would definitely buy such a thing - even just for the sake of having it.
