I have to remove my submission for your event. While talking with my
faction mates, we decided that it would be easier to do the events
ourselves since we have a clear idea for it. Be on the lookout for more
details about it!

I also really dislike the idea of moving RP posts. When we roleplay, we
do it with people we evolve with everyday. Our RP environment is
determined by the other players. When we read a RP post here, we can
figure what are the relations between people. On a common RP forum, we
can't see those bases. Personally I wouldn't roleplay with someone I
never interacted in game, or at least with common relationships. We
roleplay between us. I don't like the idea to go to a general forum and
search for posts that are related to Syntax. And putting (Syntax) in
every subject would be ridiculous. Walrus made the move yesterday, and
a discussion has started in broadcast depth. I strongly suggest you to
drop your 2 cents there, making it clear that moving player events and
roleplay posts in a general area is not a good idea. The simpler
solution : a RP thread and a player event thread in every world forum.

As a fellow Le Concile member, I am truely sad to see you go. I didn't
like seeing you go away from our faction, now you'll be forever missed.
Don't worry about my attitude with you since your break : I'm a man of
principle, and work has always been put ahead of friendship. But
inside me, I always had all the respect to you. My silence was a form
of disagreement with you leaving us, but it was just sorrow for having
lost a great companion. May your remaining life continue to bring you
great challenge, and keep that ferocity attitude toward life.
Aurevoir, Gnev
OOC
You were a very good roleplayer. Even yesterday, I mentionned your name
in a discussion about the good roleplayers on the server. The Matrix
isn't only populated by Neo and Trinity simulacrums. It's the variety
in characters that bring the richness of a roleplaying game. Back in
the times where you were flamed for your stalinist views, I was proud
of you. This is Gnev, the soviet. Not any merovingian soldier. I don't
expect any less than coldness and a devout following of the communist
doctrine from a soviet character. You played it right. I hope that
you'll bring good gaming experiences like that to the players of other
games. We'll miss you here however!

get back on track, or this coud become really dangerous. The rules can
be tested, but when you're breaking them, you can get a backlash

I admit that putting each critical mission set in a timeframe of more

Rarebit and HCFrog to work more on other things.

The other day, a CSR made a random trivia out of nowhere in Tabor W on Syntax. His question was simple, when was the Matrix release in the UK. For me, that's ok. Doing cross-promotion, unlike it is explicitely labeled as a publicity, is not. If the CSR wants to have fun with players, ok, but this is the Matrix Online, not a geek chatroom. Content like this should be Matrix related.

Firstly, I want to make you sure that I'll be there at the meeting too.
Like Bosatsu, I have a huge (especially non-mmorpg) roleplaying game
experience and I'm sure I can help.
Secondly, I want to say that the worst thing to do when you're talking
roleplaying is trying to control people. Espi wanted to become a
monster, developping a complez personality. Roleplay with Harpalos is
completly different, it's more about letting people show all their
hidden potential. Each one got it's style. And trying to shove a new
style down people's throat is very dangerous, because we must not
understand that behind each of our characters, there's a player hiding.
We're playing our alter-ego, and we infuse a part of ourselves inside
them. Caution must be used when trying to fix how people roleplay,
because our roleplaying style is very close to how we are inside. I am
curious about the solutions you want to bring, but I'm hoping this is
not a new roleplayer manifesto since you might hurt people with your
opinions. But seeing roleplyaers at the same place and discuss ooc will
be interresting. Count me in.

She might be lovely and such, but we must keep our head. Apparently, it
looks like she's able to play with others nerves. A Zionite was
bragging to her two days ago that he could beat anyone of her minions.
Well Salera accepted the challenge, and asked him to fight Jilted1, one
of the best fighters we have around. The poor Zionite didn't even land
a hit. No need to say that for a first public move, she managed to show
others that you don't mess with the Merovingian's troops that easily.
I'll be on the lookout for her future endeavours.

For all you thinking that Cryptos, Veil and co offer an interresting option with their Cypherites:
You don't want to know about the Matrix? You want to undo what was
done? I have a better one for you. A little brain surgery. Permanent
brain damage is just a few cuts aways, and will give you the same
results, while not ruining my environment. So you don't want to accept
what has been done to you? Take the necessary step to undo it, but
don't ruin the fun of those who like it.

It all depends on the stories. If me and my faction started writing a
story and would like to share it on the forums, a random person
introducing himself in the middle of it wouldn't be a good idea,
because you would be disrupting the current story. Some RP threads are
meant to have many people contributing in it, but most aren't. My best
trick would be to follow the actual story on the forum, and locate it's
actors in game, since this is were the real action is going. Find
yourself a good idea on how you could contribute to the story,
introduce yourself, in character if possible, and take part in the
story.
Another hint I could give you is to be on the look out for new stories.
Many people are interrested in having different stories than those
actually played, and they will definetly need some players in it. It's
easier to enter in a room when it's door is wide open than if you got
to crack it open.
Finally, there's no easy way to be part of a story : no one will run
after you so you can play in their story. However, I will give you the
best secret I give to new roleplayers : a good roleplayer is someone
that listen more than he talks.

Time to take the my story out of mothballs... I started playing
roleplaying games 16 years ago with Dungeons and Dragons. I don't know
how I learned about this game since I knew no one at all playing that.
I learned the game and I eventually I mastered my first RPG game with
friends.
I played 2 years in D&D, then went to AD&D. During this time
span, me and my group started roleplaying, instead of just doing the
job needed. I remember the time we started a game, and I asked people
to not only do a character, but do one that they would like to see in a
novel. My players started putting flesh in their characters, and I did
the same to my NPCs.
10 years ago, I played in my first non-D&D game : Shadowrun. I had
changed school, and I was meeting new people, who also tried
roleplaying games. One of them approached me one day with the Shadowrun
book and asked me if I would be interrested in looking at that game,
since he had bought the book but had no one to game master it. I
borrowed it's book, and a week later I mastered my first Shadowrun
game.
In the next five years, I was an hardcore gamemaster. During this time
span, I was game mastering at least 2 game session every week. I played
in some games from time to time, but my players kept requesting me to
master. The games we played the most were 7th Sea, Deadlands, Vampire,
Star Wars, Warhammer, Call of Chtulhu, AD&D and of course
Shadowrun. I also tried my first MUDs.
I also started to go get connex skills to help me roleplay. I started
playing in an improv league and I learned theater acting. These 2
things helped me a lot more, and I think about it, I thank myself for
doing that since it's in that time that I made the best progression in
my roleplay.
6 years from now, I moved into a bigger city. I knew no one, and I
needed to get my rpg fix since I was doing that since forever. Slowly,
I learned about the existance of a roleplaying game club. I joined it
and shook the people there with my experience. I quickly became one of
the organizers, to finally become president 1 year later. During that
time, I had chosen to use my mandate to help people open their eyes to
the potential in RPG. The club was mostly around D&D and Vampire. I
was controlling the club's budget for the book collection, and instead
of buying every Vampire book that came out like previous president's
did, I bought new games. I organized demo sessions to many of them. I
was also organizing school sessions to help other gamemasters and
players to get better in roleplay. I also dip my toe during that
period to my first LARP game. It was a Vampire game, and I played a
crazy Vampire that had a multiple personnality trouble. At every game
session, I was playing him with a totally different personnality,
dressed with a full costume according to the personnality of the week.
...During 2 years... This is the most memorable character I did in my
life. When I meet the other players, that's the thing they remember
about me, not who I was really.
Now 3 years from now, I moved again. My professional life has taken the
life of the gamer inside. The regular game sessions are no more.
However, I started writing official scenarios for the worldwide
Shadowrun campaign named Shadowrun Missions. I game master this
campaign with a large group of players, and even play sometimes over
instant messaging since it's getting tough to arrange games with
everyone. I also started reading books about roleplaying psychology, to
help me understand the different patterns in this activity. Roleplay
gaming theory is my new subject of intellectual curiosity.
Oh and I learned about 1 year ago that there will be an online rpg
based on the Matrix, with player events and live actors from the
movies. This got my curiosity, and made the classic roleplay
gamer/gamemaster in me to take a breath, and jump into a wild world in
the roleplaying universe.

About the listening part... I'm not talking listening such as sitting
idle and listening. It's more related to the theater concept of
listening. Analyzing what's happening and acting in consequence. You
can talk, but you should put more importance into understanding what
the other players have to say than what you want to say. That's the
best way to learn what could be your place in the story.

This message is intended for the followers of Zion. I was handpicked by Salera for her operation against Zion's liaison officer Seraneth. Don't worry about him, I wouldn't allow any kind of abuse toward any powerless human. Lady Salera doesn't want this to end with any blood shed, and me neither. However she won't wait forever for you to come. You'd better be quick, she's not as patient as me. She asked me to post this picture, and to make sure you have what she asked for.

Not worth much? I would rather say the opposite. With the massive exodus toward EPN and Anome's treachery, I'm not sure Zion is ready to consider Seraneth as an expandable asset. Anyway, I'm certain that lady Salera will find a way to adapt the negotiation's terms with today's events.
