Continuity amongst Live Event characters... Why is Ghost 55 and Niobe is 60? Shouldn't they both be at 55? Are we saying that because she had more lines in the movies she gets a higher level? Also, why is Agent Gray so much lower than the spawned Agents? They should all be 60. And lastly, why can't some of the Event characters be between 50-53? I'd like some orange and red, as the purple ones seem close to invulnerable. But as for actual NPC's, yeah... Everyone's just about listed the exploits I've seen.

Maybe we can see about getting an "infant" luggable that makes your RSI appear to be carrying a bundle of joy. It can give a 15% boost to the Extra Baggage trait and we can simulate scenes from Willow or pretend that it's Moses.

You left because you are perma flagged at level 16?? I'm sorry but thats bull if you're flagged and are going to get killed in 1 hit then generally you should have the good sense to keep your evade up and make sure there isn't a red around.
Heh, just proves that he is unable to handle the hostile element and is therefor unable to play on vector. Couldn't have said it better.
If you don't want to die while doing PvE stuff, by all means stay on Syntax or Recursion. Every last one of us who is 50 on Vector had to go through it as well. Getting ganked is inherent of a Hostile server. The same thing happens to my level 56 Troll on World of Warcraft because I choose to play on a PvP server. Getting ganked brings a mandatory need to join a Guild, or in this case a Faction. You get support and you have someone handle the level 50 red that's doing the ganking.
On a non-hostile server, I'd blame the level 16 for getting ganked because that means they had to have flagged. On a hostile server, it is just another aspect of the game to keep you on your toes. In my opinion, it's one of the ONLY reasons to keep you on your toes as combat is just about how everything in this game of MXO is handled. Without the fear of getting owned, where's the suspense? It certainly isn't in most of the story (I won't say all, because some is in fact interesting).

How exactly, when jacking in initially, do you make sure there isn't a red around in firing or attacking distance? Also how can you get your evade shield up when you need to be in the simulation first?
Does that mean then that you have people camped out at HL's waiting for low levels to jack in and kill them before they've had the chance to apply their low end buffs and even evade shield? Hell... it's a wonder anyone uses HL's there at all....
/jackout is your friend I guess....
It's hardly ever that bad, because most of the people who used to play on Vector are now on Syntax or Recursion. Chances are if you Jack In to any Hardline outside of Mara or Magog you will find a vacant spot. In fact, it's in my firm belief that the flagged level 16 immediately went to Mara to be remembered why he left. Nice way to remind himself. Go to the most hostile place on the server. I salute such intelligence.
Some safe spots in Vector are Chelsea NW (Dueling Grounds), Camon C (RP area), Tabor C (RP area), and Magog W (The Black Market's Hardline). They aren't always as friendly as I'd like you to believe, but they are certainly less hostile than Mara C which will more than surely remind you of why you've chosen to make flagging an option.

"The code is changing," RoninsGirl sounded out clearly over the channel. "They're all around you! Mercenaries!"One by one, we fell to the sneaking Merovingian operatives. I felt their bullets pierce through the shielded clothing, ripping into me. Then everything went dark before seconds later opening my eyes, staring at the wall of the Hovercraft. "Send us back in," I grunted, "there isn't much time. We need to secure the Professor again!" It was my own doing. I bartered with the Merovingian's people and it was I who told the Machines we could eliminate both Gillian and Cainine in one swoop. I was wrong and it was my own screw-up that forced everyone to suffer. I looked over at my Captain, then over at the Commander. Ian was wiping a trickle of blood away from the corner of his mouth, growling for revenge and honor. I knew then at that moment that we'd walked right into a trap. It was no longer my fault; deception sewn by Phallyn and his apparent employer. Not Lucite, as one would expect... Insertion.... In retrospect, I was feeling rather pensive about the situation. We'd gone into the simulation twice more that October night, dealing with the Assassins and Knife Throwers in near total darkness. We were blind, but not just physically. Our eyes had not yet been opened and now we can see. Determination brings focus, but desperation allows us to be driven to determination itself. I got over my failure by the sheer need to correct my mistakes. Mistakes Ronin paid for with their honor left disgraced. Things have changed since that dark evening... ...Agent Purcell and I, we disposed of Professor Gillian. I would have rather done the deed myself, but it did not turn out as such. I am grateful that the Professor has been put away and prepared for his return to the Source. Resources maximized is one thing, but with the elimination of the Professor I am also alleviated of my responsibility to set things right. It isn't to suggest I wouldn't contribute if the mistakes weren't my own, but my obligation is fulfilled. It should be time to move on. However, just as one threat is removed another is added. A member of the Demon Army was trying to protect the Professor and while his men were taken care of quite easily, there were unexpected visitors present. I'd fought them both before and while unprepared for their arrival I was able to sever their lines quite effectively with Purcell's assistance keeping the Exile occupied. Curious as to their identities? They're known Merovingian redpills, obviously. The renown Assassin, Tytanya, and a fellow Pistoleer Crieses. They put up a good fight, admittably better than most. Lucky for me, reloading wasn't a setback with the ammunition being pumped in directly by the Operator.
Mr. Carroll always finds the best to carry out his work, doesn't he? Inevitable. Insertion is going to have to do the work himself. It's something I've prepared for. No doubt he's probably got the bank account to manufacture a killcode if he wanted to. I'd personally rather end it with my hands wrapped around his throat, but that isn't exactly what I got with Gillian. I still have the balanced throwing blade Mr. Carroll had first lodged in my arm. A little reminder for keepsake, eh? Happy Holidays, Insertion. I've still got a few Demons left, but they're not at all tired. It's about time I wore them out... "RG," I chirped into my Boost Mobile [:p], "I need a refresher on tossing knives." It was time to live up to my handle.

I enjoy these in character "personal events," and I hope Redpills of all sides post their own in the same format. It's showing that we enjoy being a part of the story and shows that we're willing to go beyond the red=dead philosophies and play the game the way it was intended to be played. Makes it feel like what we were promised when Warner Bros. and Monolith first put this game together. SOE's improving it, but we're able to improve a portion of the content ourselves through the forums and the Carebear RP we choose to take part in. Very nice post, Blade. I have to agree with Ex about the motives. The Cypherites wish to put all redpills to rest and while not all are as extreme as the Sleepwalkers, all desire sleep themselves. In time I hope that those in Calli Somni and Likwid Hyuzu may rest, but there is work to be done to protect those who already sleep. So long as any humans are Awakened, there will be a need for the Cypherites... They do benefit the System in their own way... They certainly revere bluepill lives more than E Pluribus Neo. But then where is the Cypherite regard for Redpills?

You don't have to read it, of course. :p
But if you wanted to badly enough, you could play MXO on a linux machine. The bottom-line is Mac is becoming more versatile, but there's still certain things that are (and should be) restricted or constrained for reasons such as security or development.

The Leo wrote: This has been brought up before, but I feel lite trying again. Currently no matter how many lvl 50s attack an agent he just wont die. This is because of the resistance in lvls. In the QA for instance 5 lvl 50s could defend themselves against an agent and kill him in about 15 minutes. Yes I know what Morpheus have said but even in CR1 we were able to kill agents and Trinity also killed one, not to mention the other matrix games where you had to get rid of the agent in various ways. But agents there were definetely not invincible as they are now. For those that agree suggestions for changes? For those that don't , why is that you don't agree? I'd like to see Agents as Level 60, to keep in line with Agent Gray. Even put them at 65 if you have to, but they seriously need to be lowered. There's many threads filled with complaints about the 255 Agents.

Grace of Darkness wrote: I find it funny how in the patch they took away the lvl 255 agents from missions. I think that the agents should be lvl 70 and spawn only to resrticted playes as they do now. That give players a chance to damage them but still makes the agents a huge threat. Making the agents lvl 255 should have to do with the whole cheat code thing. That would make more since then saying that the agents are all automatically lvl 255. That would mean that Niobe wouldn't be lvl 60 she would be lvl 200 considering she had to fight a couple agents herself. That would also make Morpheus and Trinity lvl 225 at least, making Neo lvl 270 seeing how he was able to fight Agents and still get hit. And you cheapen as Redpills even further with us keeping at 50.
As stated, level 60-70 Agents would be perfect.

You encounter a number of enemies within the simulation. Perhaps for me there was none more resourceful than Professor Gillian. No, that simply isn't the word for it at all. He was only lucky. Hrm. Resourceful's an overstatement and lucky doesn't let your luck run out without some big bang -- some kind of defining moment. Luck oftentimes turns into destiny, the luck derived from chance and fate as it would value some more than others. Then again, that's another debate for us to b*tch and moan about. A battle of philosophy. Another cause for us to fight over, oftentimes violently. Back to my original point, then, Gillian had low people in high places looking to protect him. But don't get me wrong, this really isn't even about the late Professor at all. He was a prelude to something bigger brewing in the distance. I can feel it. I just hope that the deletion of Gillian will hinder whatever progress that the Merovingian's operatives were trying to achieve. Perhaps my best hopes would leave the Professor removed before anything useful could be attained by my true enemies. Not the Merovingian in particular, as I am well below the caliber of such a target, but those who I have had direct contact with. Lucite, Cainine, and the Demon Army bastard Lisser. These Exile programs and those lesser ones working below them will be a challenge -- one that I hope will give the Machines and Zion redpills a chance to reconcile and put away their differences, to band together against a common threat. As stated, it's not about the Exile program so much as it's about a certain Redpill. Mr. Carroll, Insertion, is prevalent as my enemy. The bastard eludes me and while we've had our encounters in the past, he now toys with the fact that I haven't been able to get the best of him while he's thwarted my plans several times. No! This can't simply be a cause of lol mkt > guns. He's not only my nemesis but also a threat to the System. He's redirecting resources and causing mischief in ways that undermine authority. The Higher Powers that are Control will need to lock down on this one, but I'm afraid the Redpill will not be taken as a serious threat until it's too late. Until he's been taken into consideration by those such as Agent Purcell or Agent Betts, I'm on my own with this one. What's in store for all of the other Operatives out on the field? For that matter, the times have grown very quiet and this gives reason to believe something devastating is brewing out of sight. It isn't just the appearance of the Demon Army's Lisser, but after being attacked by Tytanya and Crieses I've realized that perhaps I am moving in the right direction. Insertion certainly wants me stopped. I only need take my colleagues with me, into the answers regarding these secrets within the Merovingian's ranks. Perhaps it's time to enlist a few others who I know serve to protect the system and make it safe for bluepills -- primarily by purging Redpills from the simulation. Trucidos and SureShot187 are both quite efficient, but I feel I am starting to take on the mentality of a Cypherite. I shake the feeling everytime I put reflective, retrospective thought to it... I serve the System, although I respect the stability that the Cypherite cause brings. It is a serenity that any Samurai can adhere to; perhaps even I can appreciate as I've broken apart from Ronin... Perhaps, yet again, I am confused. Such a state of mind is unhealthy out there, within the concrete jungle. It's not conductive to the nature of my work or to the organisation I struggle for. Perhaps in finding an enemy to the System, a mutual villain, I've justified my continued servitude to Control. But then if the Cypherites and the Machines share mutual enemies in E Pluribus Neo as well as the Merovingian's mercenaries then does that make me a Cypherite as well? I seem so distracted by conflicting opinions I've heard and feel relentlessly strayed by the subjective point-of-views. Hrm. Getting back on track, it's the Merovingian redpills that I worry about... They attack in waves, helping sustain the existence of Exiles within the simulation. Programs wasting resources -- the code and information, the currency, of the Matrix -- on things that should not be. Threatening Order. Threatening Reason. Intervening with Purpose. I have an enemy that is clear to me. Regardless of our differences, I have allies that come to my aid despite them. My enemies will not compromise and therefore neither will I. However, I choose to stand alone against the growing menace. No, not growing. No, not at all. It's grown in to full development. It's here. The Merovingian Operatives -- those who do not serve purpose, though perhaps with the exception of screwing with me. Naw. They serve Cause and Effect, dished out cold. Fmmf. I suppose rather than continue to be all over the place with this, I'm going to sum it up like this: I'm going to take the iniative on this one and go for those who I know are obviously involved. Starting with Tytanya, if she can be found.

When did Trinity kill an Agent? I remember her getting her rear handed to her. To this date, the only ones who have killed an actual Agent (to my knowledge) are as follows. Then again, not all cases have been shown -- some of them merely mentioned -- whereas in most cases the Agent wasn't exactly killed -- only redirected to another host. - Neo. - Seraph had apparently defeated Agent Smith once before. - Morpheus temporarily killed an Agent via a "sneak attack." - Niobe killed an Agent in Enter the Matrix via dropping him from a cargo-plane. - Ghost killed an Agent in Enter the Matrix via electrocution. - The Assassin killed Agent Skinner. - Smith killed Agent Johnson via infection. - Morpheus' Legacy, JoKeRz, and several other factions have killed 255's via sploits. Hehe.

Really, this is something many of us players have been pleading to have changed since Beta. Its something that cripples the franchise of the Matrix, IMO. How many times are newer players turned off from Agent Experiences after the 2nd kill? "What? He killed me in one hit! I wanted to interlock him and I couldn't even do that!" For level 50's.. we never get spawned on and when it happens, we only last about 10 seconds -- if we're lucky... For being here as long as we have, we should be able to get a team of five 50's and do significant damage -- while still all dying, even. Not to mention: Level 100 Anome > Level 255 Agents.
How did we have a problem with the Unlimits for so long? All they needed to do was send a few of those 255's his way. It makes all the sense in the world to put them equal to Gray -- at 60. Not everyone can solo the Taskmaster and not everyone *wants* to, but that would be what you'd end up doing if you had to fight an Agent who was level 60 and you happened to be alone. Or how about 65? Anything besides 255.

Not entirely unlike the Zero One Laborers that W4rbl4de oftentimes found himself destroying within the Archives, the robot was given a humanoid appearance which worked well to produce activity between the Machines and the Redpills employed by them. If anything, the Truce provided a reason for the robot's existence. It justified purpose. Seated across from one-another, Reno Bryce and Interpreter 33674 found the ambience of the Machine City rather unintrusive. The flashes of electrical surges in the background and the humming generators near by were a sign that those dependant upon the system were satisfied to be there. Perhaps not all of them, but most of them, were happy to be plugged into the mainframe and providing power for 33674 to be there. The conduits ran through every wall, every plug, every wire, into the city which was made alive by the lives of humans. Many from many, as it should be. Harmony, if you looked at it as nothing more than that. The Interpreter machine studied the chessboard, the metal pieces constructed from shaped iron, and a myriad of red lenses narrowed and widened based upon the scrutiny of the battlefield. A bit of delight seemed to hit the eyes, if such a thing could be said of the otherwise faceless construct. It had foreseen this moment in such a way that Bryce's human brain could not. It saw its strategy from the beginning, organizing a method of beating the Podborn human from within the first few moves. Reaching forward with it's mock-hand, Interpreter 33674 lifted its pieces and siezed the win. "So then why do they do it?" resonated a metallic voice, continuing upon a conversation started hours ago. "For the sake of fighting. Emergency jackout procedures keep them unafraid of their actions' consequences. The Kid is callow, which doesn't say much for those who follow him. Of course I also liken them to the late Morpheus and what he did towards the end, which was far from what he stood for previously." Reno shrugged his shoulders. "Granted, there's extremist Cypherites and yet I can't help but feel as though the Kid's people only find reasons to hate for hate's sake." "The General." "What?" Reno raised an eyebrow. "The General is the same way... It's a war protocol. It follows the principles of strategy. Since the truce he has no reason to exist. He escaped deletion, Reno Bryce. Yet he functions based off of his primary purpose, which is strategy and war. In essence, the truce is bad for the war protocol. Peace is his villain." The Interpreter found a way to relate to Bryce's argument and viewpoint on the E Pluribus Neo zealots. It was the purpose of the machine itself to find ways to relate to human Redpills outside of the Matrix simulation. "Checkmate." Interpreter added as an afterthought. The plethora of red lenses faded into a soft green glow, as if to suggest that now was a time of perpetual peace now that the game had subsided. "You could look at it like that," Bryce pondered. "But then isn't that also what you just did? You formulated a strategy, so then don't you possess a portion of the General's operating code?" It was not meant to be an insulting question. The nature of the Machines and their collective intelligence was not fully understood by Reno Bryce -- or any Redpill for that matter -- seeing as how they acted in concert, yet still came across as individuals from time to time such as now in this very moment. It was hard to tell if he was being monitored by a higher authority at this point. For all intents and purposes, it was impossible to tell if the scrutiny from the Interpreter was merely being tossed into a catalog to be analyzed ten times over by the Architect. "To a degree you're right, Reno Bryce. The complexity of artificial intelligence software is something that should not be foreign to someone of your caliber. You deal with it day in and day out, don't you?" The Interpreter asked rhetorically before continuing: "Not to get into too much detail, but the code hardwired into our neural-processors reaches the Source, which allows us to benefit from a hive-like mentality. However, each and every one of us counts as an individual despite our life emanating from the same point, which is simultaneously everywhere and nowhere. The Source flows throughout this city -- beneath, above, and from each and every side. "Thinking of the General as a sort of protocol or contingency, it is therefore Queen Bee which allows the rest of the hive to continue. It is the center of attention, while the drones do all of the actual work. While they're linked, a dead Sentinel only affects that dead Sentinel. The contingency feels it; the contingency's purpose is to feel it and respond in kind. Do other Sentinels feel it? Well, arguably they only feel what is necessary... Those redirected in response certainly do, but would each and every one of them feel it? Maybe later, in retrospect, some might. But just like your species, Reno Bryce. Some don't have any regard for life. "My operating code is not the same as the General's. While I possess a number of strategic protocols, they are for the purpose of interaction with your species. Certain algorithms may pass in and out of the General's likeness, but I am far from a war program. My operating code is to promote the peace granted by the Anomaly and to support understanding of your kind. I answer to the programs within the Source that require analysis of humans through verbal communications with the subjects. Primarily you at this time." The Machine waited for the next question or reply. Bryce smiled. He was bemused and as such he crossed his arms over his chest, offering a wry grin. "I thought you were keeping it short?" The metallic voice burst into a bit of laughter and the machine raised its hands up to where a mouth should have been, as if to muffle its own amusement. "I apologize, Reno Bryce. I did keep it a bit more broad than I could have. Be thankful I did not break it down even further. You'd certainly be catatonic." "Yeah, from sleep." A gritty voice was accompanied by footsteps of metal clanking upon metal. Another Interpreter stepped forward, its arms crossed about its chest. It's appearance was identical to the first. "You're boring; the both of you." Bryce sighed audibly. "Thirty-two, six-ninety-one." "Causing problems again?" Interpeter 33674 asked Interpreter 32691, a bit dissappointed. "If you don't like the task you've been appointed, there are certainly other options. You don't have to pick fights with those of us who wish to follow our purpose." "Oh?" A bit of of a sneer in the following chuckle. "I'm merely doing what I was programmed to do, 33674. I'm collecting data for analysis. I'm testing his resolve." With that, the machine took another step forward and reached out with a spread hand, pushing Bryce by the head. While not built for combat, the mechanical force was more than enough in the Real to throw Reno off of his seat. Emerald eyes peered up at the machine as Reno clenched his jaw and prepared to lunge, even as he would surely lose to the Interpreter's reinforced joints. Flesh didn't do well against non-flesh, especially when the non-flesh in question was metal. When 32691 stepped forward it felt the reeling blow of 33674's fist, confronted by the array of angry red eyes. "It's no contest here. You feel you have a point to make?!" Just then, the electromagnetic hum of the Hoverbarge lifting itself up to their height became ever-so-prevailent. The Barge itself connected to this particular spire amongst several along the outskirts of the Machine City. The platform consisted of thirty-six empty seats and it was simply a matter of choosing two. "Settle it then," 33674 ordered, "within the Matrix." TO BE CONTINUED

In that case apologies are at hand. For your benefit, I'll explain a few things that I tried to connect to Matrix canon and metaplot. Hopefully it will shed some light. Ignore the points I'm bringing up if they are invalid or if you already knew.
When Machines are in somewhat of a 'passive' mood, their eyes are green. Sentinels are aggressive and the majority of what you see in the films. In Animatrix as well as in the end of Revolutions with the machine that carries Neo away you see green tint as opposed to red. This connection isn't necessarily true, but in my own mind it holds. The General was targeted for deletion because he was the war program designed to destroy Zion. Or so that's what we've been told thus far. Somehow this has been changing in recent storyline developments and yet I figured it was something good to touch subject on in the NR boards. All of the commandos? They are Sentinels. The hoverbarges you should know about. They were in the booklet that came with the retail purchase of the game. They are defined as being the way that the majority of Machine operatives jack in, with the exception of those who have hovercrafts. As W4r currently has no faction, he jumps from barge to barge with the authority of the Machines. The whole scene is meant to show that while I work for/with the Machnes, there should still be tension within the organization regarding the fact that I am human and they are not. Remembering that the truce is between humans and machines and that I am still human, it means that both parties don't always trust or like each other. Also, that while the Machines correspond with one-another they are still individuals much as we are. There's this big misconception that because the Sentinels all seemed to work as one, there was only one mind at work. It was the "General" and his strategies that were programmed to inform each and every Sentinel. It wasn't because all of them know what each and every one of them is going through at a given time. An example would be Neo's offer to the Deus Ex Machina (it was credited as such) before the final fight with Smith. The Sentinels receive word transmitted (via the source?) from a higher power. They submit due to the chain of command, but consider that perhaps not all of them wanted to? Their programming is seek and destroy. That's the one thing they're meant for. You'd have to believe that within the Machine City itself there are a number of machines we did not see in the films. And with the truce in place perhaps new Machines are needed to help the humans get along with them. Perhaps this time around we won't take a sh*t on the importance of life, be it flesh or steel. The Source has it's own laws, with deletion mandatory for programs (AI) that don't belong. It's up to the humans to come together and find a way of governing themselves, though. Something that Zion's incapable of a la EPN. It's not Zion's fault, except when they choose to protect them.

Mr. Carroll has allies. Thanks to a bit of patience, so do I. The true nature of a Ronin is to run alone. For that I am not bound to any of the Machine factions residing within the Matrix. However, I understand the importance of allies. Systematic Chaos provided me with the much needed support to remove these threats from the equation. While Crieses was unaware just as the moment hit, Tytanya was much more difficult. Luckily, I had enlisted the aid of but a few of my friends. Bayamos. Yasamuu. Petit3. I sent with the Merovingian Redpills a message as they were banished to the Loading Area with their emergency jackout procedures getting a workout. Insertion is next. All paths lead to Chaos; through Chaos will emerge Order; the system will be maintained through the deletion of as many Merovingian operatives as possible. This is a war.

Bryce emerged into the loading facility, the white void quickly shifting as detailed walls came into place all around, appearing from the distance -- or so it seemed. Wooden pillars built themselves up around Warblade and formed the roof of the dojo. Standing there in his brown gi, the Redpill peered through his Widow's Moor lenses into the burst of code forming a female silhouette. Soon, Interpeter 33674 took on the code signature of someone familiar. The code became the infrastructure of Miya Takimoto's residual self-image -- the Merovingian operative who had assisted Warblade in the past, during the Watchmaker incident. While SkyBruin had played his own part, DJSitrom's appearance was much more calm and warm. "Aikido," Interpreter chuckled softly, "is the art of knowing your opponent's movements and using them against the opponent. Redirecting their flow of energy." Warblade wrinkled his nose at the representation of Interpreter 22674, crossing his arms over his chest. "You've been studying my interactions far too much," Reno shook his head as he continued, "and I'm not sure that I like that one bit..." "I figured it would be a comforting sight." The machine program shrugged its shoulders. In the form of a Japanese woman with fiery red hair, the program proceeded to the side of the dojo, taking its seat upon a mat. Turning its attention to the new expansion of code amidst the dojo's main room, the program studied the arrival of Interpeter 32691 in the form of a burly white man. Short, cropped blond hair sat atop a square head. A pair of azure eyes appeared bloodshot, anger apparent in his stare. He grunted, "Alright, fleshbag, you ready?" Bryce winced, sighed, and folded his hands in front of him, bowing his head in response to the machine's challenge. "You know," Reno started, "I've heard programs speak like th--" Reno stepped back, the program already rushing forward with a triple kick. Batting away at the feet of his enemy, Reno backpeddaled before taking a leap backwards, flipping on to a wall and then off of it, switching to a fast Karate style and going for the jumpkick. Off the wall, Reno is caught and slung to the floor, sliding towards the opposite side of the dojo. "*poop*-" The program landed with a thud, its knee landing where Bryce would have been if he had not rolled out of the way to safety. Quickly rolling over on to his back again, Reno used a kippup to hop to his feet before going airborne again, jumping over a sweep, then falling to the floor to duck a roundhouse that might have connected with his face were he not on the defensive. This was pointless; the program was far too aggressive and well-versed in the martial arts. Not something an Interpreter should have possessed. As stated by Warblade himself only moments ago: He'd seen this activity in programs before. He'd seen it in Exiles. "You're trying to kill me," Bryce blocked one punch only to take a backhand to the head, his lenses shattering and his vision blurred. "Wait!" The Sitrom simulacrum presented by 33674 winced but did not interfere. Perhaps this would be the perfect time for Warblade to unleash the lesson that Miya had taught him. "Redirect," she whispered in Bryce's mind, as if using the word to empower Bryce -- a surge of code that might have fueled him and provided leverage against the hostile program. The simulacrum closed her eyes, meditating to help produce a calm, soothing atmosphere which balanced out the rage being emitted by 32691. Bryce took advantage and stepped through the next series of attacks, twisting and ducking under the punches from his enemy. He turned around and brought his back to the program, reaching around his own shoulder and headlocking it. With one step back and all of the strength Warblade's mind could muster for him, he tossed the machine's RSI over his shoulder and on to the floor of the dojo. Stepping back, Warblade gathered his senses and redirected them into a defensive position. It was going to be quite aggravated by being dropped like that and it was doubtful that would be enough to stop it. More needed to be done. Twisting its legs and thrashing its body, the machine used a style reminiscent of capoeira to bring itself to its feet. "Well," grinned the program, "you have your emergency jackout procedures here. You're lucky that Thirty-three, Six-seventy-four told me to fight you here... Here I can kill you all I want and it's not going to cost me." "You're rogue." Bryce wiped at the blood on the side of his face where the broken glasses cut him. "Am I now? I'm not one of the ones who took a *poop* in the sky. Your people did that. Thanks to your people, I've had to live my life bound to yours. Well, not you because you get freedom -- you get freedom while I'm still bound to studying you wretched filth." The machine rushed forward, lifting its foot into a frenzy of lightning-fast kicks. The first one, even the second one, were easy to block. The third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh were impossible. The eighth? The ninth? Bryce felt his ribs crack and his jaw shatter, spitting out blood as he started to fall over. The tenth? The wind was knocked from Warblade as he was sent back towards the wooden pillar of the dojo. Finally, a spinning roundhouse collided with Bryce's shoulders and sent him to the floor in a total heap. ## Warning: Death is Iminent ## Initiating Emergency Jackout Protocol Warblade looked up at the program through a haze, hearing the screeching sound of signals scrambling -- the likeness of a modem trying to handshake with an outside source. A stoic tone, the voice was not speaking to Warblade but to the Interpreter program as a man in a suit held the cold black steel of an FM-1500 to the program's head. "You no longer serve your purpose," the Agent pulled the trigger before all went black. A few seconds later and a white dot appeared within Bryce's vision... Expanding, it exploded into the colors of the Real and Bryce stood up from his seat on the Hoverbarge. "What the Hell just happened!?" The redpill looked around, beads of sweat upon his brow. Interpreter 33674 sat up seconds later, watching with Reno Bryce as a spider-like Machine carried off the lifeless Interpreter 32691. "An Agent program jumped into me, as I am hardwired into the System. I communicated a report and it was dealt with. Interpreter 32691 had disconnected itself from its original programming. It expressed a desire to kill you as well as any other human, in or out of the simulation." The Interpreter stood up and stepped off of the barge, back on to the steady floor of the spire. "I haven't had someone kick my head in like that since Madbent." Reno touched his face, winding his jaw. He felt sore in the Real, which was proof that he'd taken some serious injury during his most recent stay in the simulation. "So... It wasn't just me he wanted to kill for no reason?" "Look," 33674 rolled its mechanical shoulders in a human gesture of helplessness, "it's not like all is forgiven and forgotten by each and every AI within Zero One. There are still hostilities in the Real; there are still hostilities in the Matrix. Some will work our hardest to keep the peace. Just as not all of your people will adhere to the rules, I can not vouch for mine..."

## Incoming Transmission... ## Status: Recorded //SOURCE HvrBrg001377 Field Report #12-566 I'd arrived on the scene when informed of the situation by Operative Yasamuu. He'd made mention of the fact that through Insertion and Tytanya's combined efforts he'd been discharged from the simulation and into the loading area. Upon my arrival, Cypherite Operative Valeska was met. Apparently the contact established between Yasamuu and Valeska had been compromised by the Merovingian's mercenary forces -- my redpill nemesis, Insertion. In concert, they proved capable of overhwhelming my ally... When Petit3 and I established our presence in the simulation at Manssen Park, we were greeted with hostile and deadly force. Retaliation was mandated and we pushed back to keep an even score. It is obvious that Systematic Chaos has struck a chord in the nervous system of the Merovingian's network. I couldn't be more pleased. This has begun. It can only end from here.

It comes down to the two of us. I have no backup and neither does he.

D*mn it -- he moves quick.

Back down. There's no need to end this now. It will end, yes, but it won't end like this. I'm hurt. I consult my vital signs while he continues to look for me. He's probably checking my vitals as well... He knows I'm wounded. He can smell my blood. He can taste my blood.

## WARNING! Death is iminent. //THREAT Critical Rrr. Some other time, Mr. Carroll.
The human Exile proved to be quite difficult for me to deal with.
It's time to get the H*ll out of here. I stagger, with my vision blurred, towards the nearest exit. It will end -- only not today and not like this. I did not underestimate my opponent. I expected this. While I got a few good shots in, I'm still no match for the mercenary on my own. Now begins a time to enhance my skills before confronting my nemesis once more. Stick it to the Merovingian's mercenaries, fellow Operatives. Hunt them down and see to it that they are purged from the simulation. Delete Exiles; conserve resources; stabilize the System. I'll deal with Insertion later. ## End Recorded Transmission

What a fine idea it was also to 'shake the matrix' at the risk of machine retaliation, against the very bluepills you swear to protect. How fortunate that the machines have a firmer grasp on humanity than the blackened soul of a terrorist.
