I would like to point out that there seems to be a slight but distinct improvement in performance in the game. I didn't see this thread until today, but it was clear to me yesterday that you guys had changed the region servers due to this, and the altered /who ranges I was getting since the server restarted. Interactions (opening a door, for example) seem to have sped up slightly. The same can be said for hardline travel and other teleportation methods. And the code vision seems to clear up faster for me. I'll admit that these apparent speed increases may just be in my head. But this is coming from someone who has been playing MxO since October of '04 and never left once.

Probably because a lot of the new region servers are utterly huge, judging from current /who ranges. I mean Apollyon, Camon Heights, and Kedemoth have the same /who range? That's massive.

But in all seriousness, is it possible to tuck it away in a place where players don't go, like the Aqueduct?

Since you guys are going to add code to get information on the Downtown lag in the next patch, is there anything specific we can do to help? Or should we just do things normally? Or maybe both just in case?

Actually, now that I think about it... Morpheus is in both Path of Neo (owned by Shiny) and in MxO (owned by SoE), but yet Niobe and Ghost can't be displayed in MxO because Shiny has the right to their likenesses. So then... how can Morpheus be in two games?
You can also add the Merovingian and Seraph to that. They've appeared in both EtM and PoN as video game character models. Oh, Morpheus also appeared in EtM as a character model.
But do we know that MxO can't use Jada Pinkett Smith's and Anthony Wong's likenesses because of Shiny? It seems more likely that they didn't sign up for MxO. An old article stated that Clayton Watson didn't sign up, thus Kid's character model and voice are different in MxO.
Note that everyone who retains their likenesses in MxO also retains their voice.

Apparently in the Merovingian missions, they introduced a virus into that particular box. The message in the Zion mission is a reference to this.
And there is a problem with the box. It starts at the same time as the one in Bathary Row, instead of starting five minutes after it.

That actually sounds more like the sewers. An aquaduct (it's actually spelled "aqueduct", I should probably /ccr that) is a channel built to convey water from one location to another.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aqueduct
The aqueduct on the map refers to the large body of water that bisects the city. We can already see it in the game.

Here I go again with the William Westwater quote. I copy and paste this so many times I'm afraid someone's going to write it on my tombstone.
"As we saw in the movies, operators in the hovercraft can download programs directly into the Matrix. After the Smith incident (in The Matrix Revolutions), Zion developed more direct transmitters that allow operatives to access the hovercraft remotely. This led to experiments in more directed attacks on the simulation itself--viruses that target the stability and coherence of the Residual Self-Image (RSI), the manifestation of self and other within the system.
In other words, hackers do have the ability to attack their opponents at a distance by targeting them with a virus."
Here's the article where this is mentioned.
http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/08/20/news_6105301.html
There were a few other pre-release articles that described what the Hacker/Coder abilities (again, why do people single out Hacker abilities? Nobody formed simulacra within the Matrix, and Static Barrage has more "lightning bolts" that any Hacker ability ) are and how they work. Unfortunately I can't find those articles (if anyone can find them I'd appreciate it).
But what they basically said was that the characters access programs on their hovercrafts and direct them towards other characters. It's based off two concepts we saw in the trilogy: the ability to transmit in and out of the Matrix, and the virtual controls seen in the Zion Control construct towards the beginning of Reloaded.
Though you don't have to accept this if you don't want to.

Insertion wrote: I dont mean to sound rude or anything, but why do you post the critical mission outlines?
I mean, from my perspective, if a player wants to know what is going on in another org, they should have to make an effort to look into it by asking other players from opposing organizations or running the missions themselves. This just seems like its too easy for orgs to know about one another.
Asking other players about the criticals usually results in two responses ...
1. Silence, or some form of "loose lips sink ships" attitude.
2. A vague description.
My question is this: why is it bad to let the other organizations easily know about what happens in critical missions? We're interested in the story, and criticals are part of the story. Hiding the criticals is like hiding the Matrix movies, games, etc. from people who are interest in them.
Critical missions were barely documented until recently. Many of us are glad the historical missions are coming, because we know nothing about what happened in the early criticals. Even those of us who have been here since the beginning (myself included) know nothing about what happened in the other organizations' early critical missions.

I don't remember seeing this. The only time I've ever seen anyone claim that the Cypherites were anything more than humans was a time when a mission NPC had this wild theory about the Cypherites being rogue Agents that hated redpills and defied the Machines. He claimed that they were less powerful because their power was cut off when they went AWOL.
You may be thinking about the false Agents and the commandos.
Heh. This reminds me of a time during beta when I was under the impression that the Cypherites were behind the false Agents. I was proven wrong are the time of the "Hunt for Morpheus" event. Message Edited by Othinn1 on 12-23-2005 01:54 PM

Last I saw, Enmascarado was desmasked at Achan North, and was taken captive. I think he may have been broken out with Veil though...
Are you sure? Because that sounds more like the various LET controlled Cypherite characters that appeared during the Choice and Consequence event. Their names were Ocultado, Velare, Espectro, Kamenotoko, Secreto, and Verborgen. They went around killing random players.
Eventually they were tracked down (with some help from the mission controllers, and some hindrance from false Operators and various other Cypherite transmissions that would mislead the players) and unmasked. Then they were jacked out by whatever crew the Cypherites belonged to, who then sent the traitors to Zion for questioning.
The last I ever heard of Enmascarado was shortly after Vashuo died. He lured the Assassin and Niobe to the same location using code bombs. The Assassin and Niobe fought, all while Enmascarado taunted Niobe and cheered the Assassin on.
Unfortunately for Enmascarado, the Assassin turned on him, and apparent killed him. But before he died, he said that his RSI was rigged with a "surprise" that would activate upon his death. This surprise was the Flame Virus, the same virus many of us remember from the end of beta event.

Actually, Cryptos wasn't talking about Morpheus as the Giver Of Sleep. Sleep in this case was becoming and staying a bluepill. He's talking about Cypher. In the same context, he talked about how this same person would "raise a glass of wine" and "eat red meat with us." That was Cypher.
"I knew the giver of sleep. He kept his eye on his dream, and achieved it, in a way. But now I wonder if he would approve of this strange amorphous state. I think he would join us. I think he would throw his reds in the river and sing the blues with us. We can never know, may he rest in peace, but this is what I believe."
If he's referring to Cypher, then why does he say that we'll never know if he'd join the Cypherites or not?
Plus, the speech with the "raise a glass of wine" line is a different speech than the one above.

This is from the instruction booklet, and from the old "Question of the Week" section at mxovault.ign.com.
According to the old "Tyndall's City Guide" series of articles, Naomi Tarasova (better known as "Madame T.") is one of the few redpills that takes up full time residence in the Matrix. Grace (the neighborhood contact in Furihata) is another one. They're most likely using the method described above.

Actually I believe I've seen screenshots quite a long time a go where a selected group of players got the chance to meet Tyndall.
Not possible. In her bio, it said she couldn't jack in or something really bad could happen.
I'd like to add that those screenshots of players "meeting Tyndall" were most likely made back in early live when Lotus (the neighborhood contact of Jurong) was glitched. Back then, she had Tyndall's character model, and her tag said "The Chessman".
The only way she can jack in is if it's a small, controlled environment, like the Construct. As far as I know, she's never actually appeared in-game.

Isn't there a few you've made that I haven't received yet? Or was that Zudrag? Either way, take your time. I'm in no hurry. ^-^
Probably both of us, I normally just leave my chat log running from when I log in to when I log out. So there's a fair amount of stuff I've got, I just need to sort through about 100mb of chat log ~_~ Heh, I know what you mean. But I usually let mine run, then after a week or two I move the chat log file to a different place on my computer. I put a bunch of numbers and/or letters after the file's name so it doesn't accidentally copy over another chat log file. When I start the game again, a new chat log file is created. I do this so I don't get one giant chat log.
But that still means I've got a lot to go through. Note that I've only got up to chapter 9.1 up on the site. -_-
Yeah, I made the mistake of not making a new chat log for months on end. It got to the stage where it would take about a minute to load the text file if I needed to access it. I shall get my teeth into it eventually. >_>
That's cool. Take your time. To me, it's not a matter of when I get a log, but if I get one.
