  Nothing is firmly decided yet as far as locations go. Honestly, it doesn't really matter which club or other location we end up using, because if a story places the main character in a club, we'll just make that be the same club.

I'd recommend against trying to write with specific concerns as to space. For example, it would take you a while to run or drive from Downtown to Richland... But there are always hardlines. I don't think we can break completely from the world of the Matrix in creating these things, so something like an instantaneous mode of transportation via hardline is a definite possibility.

Still, I will say that the current fore-runners in the "common places" category are:

Club Succubus - Stamos
Camon Heights Congregational Church - Camon Heights
Yeung Park - Murasaki
and "That Bridge in Maribeau" - Maribeau

These are simply suggestions, and may not be the final locations. We will definitely, however, be using some kind of club, some kind of church, some kind of park, and some kind of bridge.

  I think it's a bit ironic that some parts of the Matrix films, in writing, would not be able to be posted on these boards... But on the other hand, I do understand the need to market the game to a broad (yet targeted) audience. Personally, I like a good, dark tale of the Matrix. I suppose a medium will have to be reached with that.
Hopefully the upcoming MegaCity comic will be "fit to print" here. If not, I suppose we can always link it.

  Actually, what he's talking about makes a lot of sense.
It's not real physics. It's just an extra animation.
It wouldn't have to be more than a little wave of the fabric when running or jumping.

  Here's what I'd like to see working on Vector, at least...

Everyone should be able to PVP against anyone. Let's throw duels right out. First of all, they never happen on Vector in any great amount, second of all, it's easier to reconstruct at a hardline then to sit until your health is full again. Besides, spend a week there and you'll be well-used to reconstructing...

Anyway, at first, it would be chaos, because I know for a fact that many players only ally with other members of their org because the game won't allow them to kill them. However, after that initial chaotic period, stronger alliances would form, discouraging lone-wolf behavior, and honestly improving the community as a whole. Plus, I think it would keep truer to the original ideal of the PVP server. I mean, the whole point is that you should be able to choose whether or not to fight anyone. Anyone.

So... That's what I think of that.

Obviously, it wouldn't work quite as well on a non-hostile server, but I still don't like the idea of having people you can't kill. I mean, put in some repercussions for killing a fellow org-mate, maybe... I doubt the Merovingian would mind if I polished off a few of his lesser followers from time to time... SMILEY

  Gunmen are simply too close in interlock, especially versus a Martial Artist or other hand-to-hand fighter.

While I realize that mid-range interlock had to be removed for the good of the 2-participant system, the extreme close range that characters are currently set at is simply no good for gunmen. Under the old system, Martial Artists used to close the distance with a successful move, and gunmen used to increase it. Frankly, I don't see the need for the removal of this system, as it allows interlock battles to look more natural (and certainly does away with that problem of guns sticking through one's opponent's body).

As physical distance in interlock is rarely enough to affect combat (most specials go out to a distance of 4 meters), it seems like playing with distance depending on what animation is shown wouldn't really affect the "hard" aspects of combat, while it would certainly make things look more realistic.

Am I nuts? Discuss.

  Actually, right before the merge, the LET started being more active again (you would too, if you were going to lose your job), and I personally loved it. That sort of interaction was what made me play through the bugs and crazyness.

I hope that things will eventually move back into that direction.
If no other solution to having live actors can be found, I'm sure there are tons of players with more-than-sufficient RP skills who would gladly volunteer to take on the role of a character.

  MXO is the storyline.
EverQuest isn't driven by events and special characters the way this game is. I think adding that stuff into a game that can already stand on its own is an extra feature for that game, as opposed to a standard feature of a game like MXO. Do I think they should be charging for it? No. It'd be the same as having two versions of this game - one with bugs, one without - and charging more for the bug-free version.

  Maybe they should think about making certain knives available in interlock.
The whole "flipping backwards and firing" is nothing new if you've used any of the pistol specials. Why not incorporate this with knives, and maybe add a little bullet-time into the mix?

By the way, sometimes "staggering throw" used to leave a knife in your RSI's head for a bit. I'm not sure why it doesn't do that anymore.
