Well done... an excelent first foray into the world of slagging off this game.


A couple of quick things: Most of these issues about difficult missions etc... vanish when you make some friends and join a faction. This game was DEFINATELY made to play as teams.


SOE came in and have done a much better job at the maintenance of this game, but I still think blizzard might have done better. If you think current game support is cruddy ... you should have been here before.


The only real advantage to hitting lvl 10 is being able to load hyperjump. the matrix is still a really tough place until you're into the 20s. Some of those programs cost 10 mem buffer to make you use that skill tree (keeps things balanced) otherwise you could be a doctor/hacker and then it would get **bleep**.


ranged combat... specialise in firearms (load the skill set), don't use the rifles (-5 firearms skill) use pistols instead(+5) and take on someone close to or less than your skill level. There are plenty of buffed items that boost your firearms skill, also if you want to become a firearms user... level your attributes appropriately. Boost your focus at the detriment of reason (better gunner, worse hacker)


And yes I agree ... the entire game has been based on an RPG (paladins, warriors, spell casters, medics, etc)

I have every Awakened ability loaded and maxed for my level (41) as well as the akido tree (maxed)

I'm no noob when it comes to MxO but could someone explain what I'm doing wrong when a Karate GM (also lvl 41) creams me with me barely able to scratch him? so I rehack my RSI attributes so my belief is 29 and focus 21 and he still pwns me ... (worse than before if you can believe it)

 

Any tips to killer MA vs MA (pre CR2 I was an arbalest)

a macro takes up 1 slot, an outfit takes up 5 or 6. I'd love a "make macro" button.


The other option is with a couple of tabs next to or above the apearance window... sort of like in diablo2, where as long as you have the required items in your inventory you could specify up to 4 outfits and just click the tab to change into it.


The item linking would work like a sortcut in windows... it's just a pointer to the object... not a copy of it.


personally I'd like to see a more comprehensive macro guide and more automated features... I'm sick and tired of all this typing... MxO has sent GUI development back 10 years. Is it so hard to be able to move the cursor around the text box as you type? If you mess up at the mo. you have to delete all the way back to the error and then re-type the lot. and there is no way to edit macros other than delete & replace. You should be able to store them in your code archive and edit them via a text box.

Thanks guys and gals... some good advice there.

Currently I'm running Aikido (I'm lvl 42 so only 82 memory points to use)

I load that right up to punch-reversal catch slam (or whatever it's called)

I then load concentration and determination, hyper-deflect, dodge, and block (I only ever load hyper-sense if I know I'm up against a knife thrower... like Tengu).

I tend to stick with dodge and deflect as MA usually provides me enough mele defence / resistance and MA prowess boosts my damage nicely to compliment my Aikido (which gives me nice defence).

 

I actually was using the tactics you suggested. I just thought maybe there was something I was doing wrong to lose so badly. It turns out I was fighting a sploiter. It's just a little harder to spot a sploiter these days as your roll results aren't right in your face anymore.

Thanks for the advice guys...  This is all good stuff.

 

I've since fine-tuned my CR2 fighting so now I kick backside comfortably, with a couple of nifty tricks to do with the order I execute moves and countering tactics used by my opponent.

 

Like I mentioned earlier the problem turned out to be style-stacking.

Neo certainly did want freedom for all humans, but he was in no way attempting to achieve this immediately. Baby steps people! You must learn to walk before you can run. If all humans were freed immediately think of the disaster. How would Zion cope with the massive influx of people? The strain on our resources would be the downfall of us all.
There are those that would say "then let us take back the surface". How short are your memories? Not only is the surface of the Real unsuitable for supporting human life in significant quantities, but the truce is currently the only thing stopping the machines from invading Zion. Do you not remember how close we came to anhillation (for the 6th time)?

We are yet to understand the mysteries of conciousness and yet we are all to easy to proclaim "You are just a machine. It's always interesting seeing these things broken into a procedural list by non-programmers SMILEY
 
They can be amazingly complex sometimes. :manvery-happy:
 
I like the idea of separate the buffs from the clothes... Have them converted into sub-routines programs (as in "I need a crash course on hot-wiring a motorcycle" )
Programs can then be fixed with what they do.
 
eg:
  • Physics timer lag (boosts dodge ranged and increases running speed)
  • Projectile variable override and terminator loop(enhanced damage from firearms with damage over time)
  • Viral code-dispersal (area effect something)

you get the idea

Hardline display needs to be fixed on the Atlas as well. If an area is too large and gets scaled down to fit in the window it doesn't always show all tagged HLs

The ability to do one type of attack and then switch style half way through and if a state is awarded getting the state for the new style is not new. It has been around since day 1 of CR2.0 and it means that people who carefully manage their combat have a chance over those that "button-mash".

 

The area where it really becomes helpful is for state dependant moves. EG:

Aikido specials require Off-Balance, meaning that you need to keep doing grab attacks. Karate on the other hand requires Staggered. So a fight between Aikido and Karate needs to be carefully balanced otherwise the Karate player (whom fights using power tactic) has an instant edge over the Aikido player (whom fights with the grab tactic) ... between specials there is going to be a significant difference in damage done.

 

However this gets balanced by this "style change every second turn" feature. If the Aikido player fights with either Speed (to increase chance of landing an attack) or Power (to prevent dropping defence but causing more damage than grab) then they atleast get some damage done before switching to Grab and attempting to get Off-Balance. You may not think this is fair but it works for all trees. Trees that need Dazed cause less damage and have less defence. Trees that need Staggered have less defence and less chance of hitting. Trees that need Off-Balance have less chance of hitting and do less damage.

 

By micro-managing your fights you can partially counter-act these penalties by half (you can only use the tactic every second round).

 

Have you ever fought as Aikido using only grab... fights take forever and the enemy is often almost dead by the time you get to land a special due to the low hit-rate. Toggle between speed and grab and your hit rate goes up (and your defence goes down so enemy hit-rate goes up too) giving a better chance to get the state you need.

 

Also... when firing into interlock... pay attention to what style is being used in interlock and try to give thier enemy the state required. Firing into interlock doesn't require the enemy to have a specific state ... but the interlocker requires states to fight effectively. so If you see Kung-Fu being used by your team mate then attack the enemy with speed attack to induce dazed.

 

 

The advantages are minor but can be the turning point in a close fight

Aikido is definately one of the hardest trees to use correctly, but when you do.... POW!

 

Actually the real benefit for Aikido is to be a tank. You have very high resistance and defence as Aikido and tend to fight using Grab attacks. The combined effect is that you become very hard to hit and absorb a lot of damage when you are hit. I can barely remember the last time a viral attack hit me, or the last time I was killed with bullets for that matter. This makes Aikido very handy in a general mele pvp type situation where there tends to be a lot of free-fire going on.

 

Kung-fu on the otherhand does more damage and hits more often... but is very vulnerable to zerg and ranged, due to low defences.

 

Karate is in the happy midground, but makes up for it's deficiencies primarily by fighting with power attacks (most of the specials require staggered) and so does more damage with no drop in defence levels.

 

Aikido can also use power attacks at the loss of getting off-balance to use most specials

 

Tip of the day: if you attack using speed-attack you will increase your chance of a hit (and hence a state)

During the speed-attack, switch to power or grab (depending on the desired state). If a state is rewarded it will be according to the attack-type you switched to. (of course attacking with speed drops your damage and defence) The next attack will be in the style you switched to, so this can only be done every second round. Also this does not ensure a state is rewarded, the states are still rewarded according to in-game random odds.

 

Being able to do this is essential as grab has a rather low accuracy

On the other hand ... Don't trust the Frenchman, but trust the General even less. It does seem that by fighting zionites and getting them to fight mobs the General is collecting data on our strengths and weaknesses. Does it remind anyone of getting zionites and commandos to fight exiles to develop weapons to exploit their weaknesses. The General is currently running for President in the Matrix and the flyers, the helicopters, the stolen briefcase, the n30 agents, the redeyes, the campaign against the Merovingian... does this speak to anyone of an upcoming coup atempt... I think it reeks of "takeover bid" and would be glad to see Betts deleted.

That was un called for OpenSorce... I've met your son's RSI, nice kid. I even helped him find the SnowMen Vendors. The Kings have always been terrific towards me, even when I wasn't one.

 

I can't speak for Symmetric or Miggsy, but from what I've seen they wouldn't get angry without a pretty good reason.

Waypoint markers, targeting reticles etc. are all part of the Nural Combat Interface and visible by all redpills with the software running

All I get out of that is that there is residual corruption at the sleepwalker even sites... perhaps a precursor to the end of increased rare frag drop rates ... or something else

What is the official status on Crypto ability and tools and future usage?

Also if the plan is to remove it can we get the item vendor at Mara C's Hypercube monument to stop selling crypto tools. I've had a number of new players ask me what the crypto tool does after they have wasted their $i buying one, or their bits compiling one.
