Community General Discussion Mailbox capacity? Mailbox capacity? zeroone506 0 08/04/2006 05:21
Recently, I've been constantly emailing items to myself, and just relized that I've apparently lost some of the items below through that. Indeed, each new item I send to myself seems to erase the one at the bottom in each case.
I've lost lots of good stuff, including nice clothing and [tear] the enhanced exile killcodes from the old days.

My question, is there a way to recover those items? Are they truly lost, or only hidden from me currently, to pop back up as soon as I clean up my mailbox a bit?
Community General Discussion The right time to get depressed? The right time to get depressed? zeroone506 0 08/18/2006 07:58

Looking at all the recent threads and posts expressing the authors' disappointment and frustration, I start wondering about something.

Remember the days when CR 2.0 was in development? Tons of players were mad and canceled their accounts, of course not without expressing their disappreciation on the forums before. What were the reasons for the complaining? Looking away from the sceptism of the combat system itself, just as such or for particular reasons, it was the heavy lack of content caused by the work on CR 2.0.

And that was understandable. Events were as good as at zero; a new entry in the Live Events forum was rather a big exception. The story progressed in a quite indefinite way, and not really efficiently. New content additions weren't even considerable -- apart from the Anniversary event, everything revolved around the combat revision.

Although many kept assuring that new content would come as soon as CR 2.0 was out, the critics put them off and started talking about how they weren't getting all the things promised before, and how that would never change, so pfft, I'm on my way, do it to yourself SOE.
Even when CR 2.0 was released, and the forum was flooded with event posts, they still kept assuring us that it was only because of the event, and things would go down again after it was over.

And now, look what we have.
Events on a daily basis; a regular, thought-out and dense story progression; at least three significant content additions: new areas (something players have cried for), new abilities (something at least the DVD preview talked about, concerning the organization aspect), and city content expansion (also something players have wanter all the time).

Everything looks like things are going uphill, after the big CR 2.0 void?
But no. Several players have picked this very moment to make get finally frustrated and voicing it on the forums, eventually also leaving the game (and I mean also those agreeing in the replies). And (among others?), it's the same folks who were defending CR 2.0 back then and kept talking about a better future.

I mean, they all have reasonable motives, and some even don't have that much to do with this, rather just generally unfulfilled expectations for the game, not the way it would evolve after that CR 2.0 "crisis" -- I don't mean to generalize or simplify anything here.
But still, just looking at where we are and this (more or less) sudden flood of sceptism and disappointment, I can't help myself but finding (grammar?) it highly ironical.

Erm, any opinions? SMILEY

Community General Discussion Update 44 Hotfix notes? Update 44 Hotfix notes? zeroone506 0 08/26/2006 22:54
They've disappeared both from the forums and the game launcher. Has anyone saved it anywhere? I'd really need to view them; particularly the part with the mission typo corrections.
Community General Discussion Meaning of the Live Events forum? Meaning of the Live Events forum? zeroone506 0 09/14/2006 11:47

I've asked myself this question ever since characters started to post on the Live Events forum.

We know there are some kind of forums inside the Matrix universe, probably inside the Matrix, starting from a Document dropped 1.2 that showed the Kid bashing a Neo unbeliever.
Are the things posted on the LE forum actually supposed to be messages left in such a forum, or maybe just in the network, actually for all operatives to read (or as the case may be, only for those of certain orgs)?

The high number of IC responses enforces this impression. Is it really Anome sharing his thoughts with other redpills, and those throwing threats at him? Everything seems to point to that.

I'm asking this now because then OOC responses there would be equally inapproriate in the LE forum as during actual events, and I would be the same of an offender like those people I've just bashed for ruining the Persephone/Beirn event.

Community General Discussion Fan marketing initiative? Fan marketing initiative? zeroone506 0 09/23/2006 14:03
Since the thread where I asked this got locked (deservedly, and not least because of my immature inability to resist flamebaits), just quickly asking here:

What's become of the fan marketing project? Is it still active, had it been given up? Has it been successful so far, or promising?

I think game improvements alone will only attract back those who left the game for reasons and monitor the development. I think marketing and prominence is the only thing that would attract new players to this game. But that just marginally.

(EDIT: fixed typo in thread title)
Community General Discussion Best graphics in MxO? Best graphics in MxO? zeroone506 0 09/30/2006 12:05
Just read it in the PCG thread. Is it true? I've read some criticisms about the graphics in launch reviews, and I think there haven't been significant graphics updates so far (think I've asked Rarebit about that at some point earlier).
And it's not like I can't see any flaws myself. Most (especially exterior) textures aren't terribly sharp if you look closely at them (ever been to the Kobayashi Boardwalk?), and many look dull without tint support. Apart from that, distant building silhouettes aren't all that stable, shadows sometimes act up, and probably several other demerits.

Can all of this be improved via useropts.cfg? Or are the other games graphically simply worse than MxO? I know I've seen a few WoW screenshots, and wasn't all that terribly impressed with the photo realism. Then again, might've been unfortunate screenshots...
Community General Discussion LE Lupines LE Lupines zeroone506 0 10/04/2006 12:42
Just curious: do "LET"-controlled use the Lupine style in combat, or just one of the normal ones accessible to players?

Does Ookami have her own in the end?? Stupid assumption, but this screenshot confuses me:

She kinda seems to grab his head with her claws, which looks nothing like what I've ever seen from Lupines ingame (not counting the claws themselves). Or maybe a special move of hers?
Community General Discussion Update 41 release date? Update 41 release date? zeroone506 0 10/22/2006 14:12

Does anyone know the date when update 41 (chapter 4.2) was released? The Update Notes are missing in the forums. From what people say in the according Update Discussion, it was on 2/14/06 -- is this correct?

Community General Discussion golden ticket missions apparently not activating golden ticket missions apparently not activating zeroone506 0 10/26/2006 12:59
Earlier today, already after the Halloween event had begun, I ran an archive mission without problems. Now, I just jacked in in order to continue, and get an error message when selecting "use item" on the ticket.
This is the case in all three districts (and not only in zombie neighborhoods).

Also, it only applies to this type of mission. It's still possible to start a standard or critical missions from the mission panel.
Community General Discussion Some problem with the Email system Some problem with the Email system zeroone506 0 11/21/2006 08:01
I was just doing an archive mission. Since my inventory was full, I was told about the ticket being sent into my mailbox by the system window. When I checked it, though, I couldn't view a single message (and I have lots).

After relogging, I could view the messages again, but the mission ticket wasn't there. I hadn't checked it before it was attempted to be sent to me, unfortunately.

The bug was on Vector, if that helps. Anyone else experienced this problem?
Community General Discussion Merv 1.1 not starting Merv 1.1 not starting zeroone506 0 12/04/2006 07:21
I've just bought the Merv 1.1.1 ticket and noticed that I can't start the mission. In Richland, I get the message "My connection is fraking out...", in other districts just "Mission could not start" (probably because it's a Richland mission).

Other mission tickets seem to work.

Has anyone else had the problem? Has that been this way since it was put back into the vendor's inventory after its disappearance?
Community General Discussion Attention: mission item bug Attention: mission item bug zeroone506 0 12/25/2006 15:01

A new bug has appeared:

Normally, when you take a mission item but your inventory is full, the item appears on the floor so you can take it after creating space.
Now, the item simply disappears and you fail the mission.

Also, keep in mind that the mission item is always the last one to appear in the inventory, so if the corpse's inventory contains other items apart from the mission item, you need to clear a corresponding number of inventory slots.

I'm not quite sure if this also is the case with optional items like keys, but definitely with the vital ones.

I've already reported it, but we probably won't get a fix until end of the year, so I wanted you to know.

Community General Discussion Holiday mission tickets? Holiday mission tickets? zeroone506 0 01/06/2007 12:50
Stupid question, but where do I get them again? I don't think it stands in the looking glass...
Community General Discussion Bug investigation: archive mission not starting Bug investigation: archive mission not starting zeroone506 0 01/12/2007 14:35
Alright, I've run across this bug a few times already:

You try to start an archive mission, but get an error message like "mission could not start" or "my connection is freaking out. ..." "mission system error".

It can't be because the mission is restricted to Richland/Westview, because that's where I've tried it multiple times.
It can hardly be because of overfilled mission areas, because using /who revealed that I'm the only player in the area.
Relogging also didn't help - you just keep launching it over and over and it doesn't work.

Does anyone know a pattern to this bug, like when or why that happens, so it can be reported properly?
Community General Discussion Can't log into Vector Can't log into Vector zeroone506 0 03/04/2007 10:03

I get stuck at the loading screen when the blue line has reached the right end, everytime I want to log in Vector. Anyone else?

Community General Discussion What's all the fuss about Downtown lag? What's all the fuss about Downtown lag? zeroone506 0 04/04/2007 03:42
What exactly is or was the problem?

Was it the fact that world interaction was delayed by one second? Apart from being a minor problem, just right now I was in Gracy Heights and it took me more than a second to launch archive missions. I've also experienced delays in missions in areas other than Downtown before.

Is it worse movement performance? I don't know, almost everytime, or often when I went into Kedemoth or Mara/Achan, the latency indicator got red and the performance sucked.
Experienced this in other areas, too. I've been to those Downtown areas several times in the past, and can't remember those being more laggy than others, apart from that minor delaying problem.

I know it's  been removed and stuff, but what major problem have I missed?
Community General Discussion Patch tomorrow? Patch tomorrow? zeroone506 0 05/30/2007 17:27
Sorry to open a thread for this, but it would be really nice if someone with knowledge would state if there's a patch tomorrow?

Let's just say, logging in is problematic for me right now, but there's a few things I'd like to do before the patch arrives, so it would be nice if I'd knew that SMILEY
Community General Discussion Past DN1 articles blank Past DN1 articles blank zeroone506 0 06/02/2007 06:28
I've checked some Looking Glass or Image Retrieval from the past few weeks, and when you open the links, the pages are blank with nothing on them.

Makes the pretty story summaries kind of less useful in the long term, eh? Please fix that.
Community General Discussion So who thinks MxO's shutting down? :) So who thinks MxO's shutting down? :) zeroone506 0 06/11/2007 07:37
If it does, I wanted to be the smartguy who knew all along.

There was some ignorant dork on external MMO forums who said he knew MxO'd shut down in two months. That was two months ago.

D00m?
Community General Discussion the new leaving thread of the week the new leaving thread of the week zeroone506 0 07/27/2007 14:19
No, this is not a hoax this time (if your computer says it's April 1st, it's probably bugged).

Yea, I know I don't happen to be one of those "greatly respected players who have contributed incredibly much to the community" everyone will miss, but I thought I'd make this thread in case one day someone asked: "Wait a second, where is that non-stop arguing zero dude?"

So yea, I'm leaving MxO. I'm not going to delve into lots of points and reasons, but basically, I've simply lost my interest in this game and it's story, and am tired of the constant lag and bugs and something not working all the time, and the apparently very limited possibilities and outlooks for this game.
The lack of interest then doesn't make it worth anymore to sustain/overlook these demerits.

I haven't played or followed the game for about 3 months now, and I thought the best thing to do would be simply cancelling my account. Before you say "you'll be back" - yea, I entirely don't rule out that one day, I might decide to resubsribe (for a month or whatever).
Maybe I'll get a better internet connection, or suddenly catch huge interest in the storyline, or simply want to see MegaCity again.

Anyway, good bye for now.

A question: I heard something of 6 months being the longest time my characters would be saved, and being deleted after that. Is that true? Or do the characters remain in the database infinitely?

PS: My current (temporary) internet connection sucks so much, it can't load any pictures at all. I'm getting a new one in a week or so, until then, has the live event picture issue been fixed, or are they still missing?
Community General Discussion How to reply to CS? Standard way doesn't work (bugged?) How to reply to CS? Standard way doesn't work (bugged?) zeroone506 0 05/31/2009 20:27

The standard method (going to "Service History"/"Questions", and clicking on the question title link) doesn't work, instead it takes me back to the "Service History" menu instead.

So, can I reply them via Email? Will they receive it?

Community General Discussion I'm getting thrown out of the game all the time I'm getting thrown out of the game all the time zeroone506 0 06/01/2009 06:11

Anyone else experiencing this?

Yea. At some point, it starts to LAG very badly, the movement freezes, the music starts violently looping for a few seconds - and then my game window simply shuts down.

Of course, things like "technical support" or "server maintenance" are history now, so I guess it won't get better?

Great "good-bye run". Really awesome.

PS: I've already forgotten how bad lag used to get. There should be a single player version of this (like GTA), in case anyone's gonna emulate... uh, whatever SMILEY

Community General Discussion Any progress with the forum mirroring? Any progress with the forum mirroring? zeroone506 0 06/01/2009 13:54

It just occurred me that a mirror was also done of the previous MxO forums (remember, there was once a different layout and stuff), and as far as I remember, it did work interactively.

Some people here wanted to mirror these forums (would be a sin not to, after all) - any progress on that? Just very curious SMILEY

Community General Discussion Would it be THEORETICALLY possible to create a single player version of MxO? Would it be THEORETICALLY possible to create a single player version of MxO? zeroone506 0 06/01/2009 17:47

I know that, in practice, it's against the copyright... but theoretically, would it be possible to turn MxO into a single player game?

In such a single player version, it would be possible to run around the world, with all its (limited) interactive features, doing quests and missions, experiment with useropts. etc. etc. - just without the multiplayer factor (i.e. events, pvp, teaming up etc.)

Also no lag anymore SMILEY

I've seen this idea being brought up a few times here, and seeing as how I've always been more of a "single player" in MxO and been a huge victim of server latency (and still am), I'd be very curious if such a thing were POSSIBLE at all - in terms of what's already on the client-side, and what requires server information.

I know some people here are quite in the know on such things, so any ideas?

Community General Discussion Subscribing to Station Pass after June 1st - would that work? Subscribing to Station Pass after June 1st - would that work? zeroone506 0 06/02/2009 00:32

I mean, Station Pass still keeps working for an indefinite time, and it includes MxO - so if I subscribe to the Station Pass (today, or later), will I be able to access MxO? Or is it gonna be excluded from the Pass as of now?

Community General Discussion (extremely stupid?) question regarding zip code (extremely stupid?) question regarding zip code zeroone506 0 06/02/2009 10:58

So I'm still trying to establish a stable account.

This is quite a stupid question, but I don't quite get it and it't  been quite long since I first subscribed, so yea...

Both on the "general account info" and on my credit card info, I'm required to type my zip code. Right now, it's the zip code of my house (been that way since I first looked into it few days ago) - is that correct (in BOTH cases), or should it be the zip of my bank?

Community General Discussion Third Renaissance? Third Renaissance? zeroone506 0 06/04/2009 04:12

Few years ago, a user posted some weird (OOC) encounter in the game, where some guy talked big about how the official story sucked, and he was just a wheel in a huge machinery which would "overthrow the system" and impose their own ideas on the community, some kind of storyline with player involvement etc.

Then, the same guy appeared on the forums, and started talking EVEN BIGGER in an EXTREEEEEEMELY sophisticated language, a.o. saying things like "there are things going on in the undeground and there's nothing you can do about it", and referring to each post by its time and date.

A while after, some internet ads / website about "The Third Renaissance" started to appear, and later on, this group apparently organized some kind of player events inside the game.

A player called "stewart daniels" speculated about a connection between that and that "big shot" player from before.

Anyway, I've never got what that all was about, and didn't have the possibility or time to find out, either.

Anything come to surface since then? Anyone wishing to drop the veil, now that it's all over?
