Here are the critical missions introducing and concluding "A Piece of Blue Sky", the first Anniversary event which took place between chapter 4.2 and 4.3. The corresponding Sentinel issue, City Girds for "Blue Sky", and the live events, complete the picture.

Is it just these programs checking all game data that comes into my PC and therefore slows down the performance? Or is it only when, let's say, Norton starts a search for viruses?

Yea, in arc 2's first mission where you meet Argon and his infividual thugs, there are (standard) commando bodies lying around in other rooms. I believe Pandora's Box was released after the commandos appeared in 2.3, or am I wrong? Have they always been there?

Since I try to pay attention to details and consistency, I found a supposed inconsistency in this event: "The computer message in the preceding mission's second phase already announces "meeting at Mjolnir". In this event, the fact that Mercury announces this event as a novelty and without referring to that message can be explained by the fact that the Merovingian(s) didn't tell him everything, so he couldn't use their information to deceive them about his knowledge. Edit: And Mercury of course pretends not to know about the found information he maybe had helped to place. But then, Ookami says "Somewhere in Magog", and upon some player's suggestion, "yea, probably at the hammer". Now, maybe that message was referring to a past meeting at the same place, but I do think it was referring to the gathering in this event. So, Ookami should have at least said something like "This confirms the information we gathered from that computer, let's check it out", and already know where to go from the start on."
(6.2.4) How was Raini involved in all of this? Was she part of the conspiracy, or just a distraction used by Thallia? How did Raini know about the conspiracy if she wasn't part of it? Or was she, considering the commando squad appearing to stop the operatives hindering whatever she had in mind?
On a more general note: From what did the General try to distract whom, and by what? From his kidnapping of Sati? He did that quite a time after he started the plot. Or was it still supposed to be going on at that point? And, in the cinematic it happened very surprisingly and quickly - I wonder how that needed some large-scale gang activities if it worked anyway. Or was it for some prepation work that we don't know about? Whom? Seraph or redpill operatives? He told Anti. M that it were operatives who might be watching the area - in this case, operatives in the vicinity would hardly have been able to stop the kidnapping anyway, and as far as I know, there weren't any who were guarding the Oracle before Seraph was gone. But he might have deluded Anti M. while actually having Seraph in mind - would make sense. By what? It's said that it were distractions by the Blackwoods - but no one ever noticed those, their pointless gatherings were only used as evidences in investigations against Thallia. (Except if it really was distracting Seraph.) At the end of 6.2.5, Flood said "evidently, that worked" - I thought he meant the investigations he had spent on this affair. Or maybe he meant those Blackwood gatherings? In case it were really the Blackwood activities, I suppose Raini was materially or financially involved into this, and the shipments the Merovingian operatives noticed were not supposed to be seen. (I wonder what Raini was supposed to tell the Merv investigators instead of the truth?) Or were it the subway activities that were supposed to lure operatives into investigations where the Elements would push them around from one to another and thus distract them from whatever the General was doing there? In this case, it only worked on the Merovingians, and somehow I wonder if he should have counted with anything else.

Ok, it's like this... I've just failed at Pandora's Box 4, and while I don't have anything against picking up a team, I wouldn't be too inclined to farm gang items in Morrell again. I'm not particularly interested in the Archaelogist rewards (marginal question: do the "devices" have anything cool about them except for the buffs? that means, story or effects), but would like to have a full image of the story. So, would anyone be so kind to post screenshots of all 8 "Record" documents and the details of Seraphic Wing and Seraphic Feather?

I guess we should all be aware about Club Hel now.
How about the Metacortex and Government Building interior? Are there any missions that lead you there?
Also, as I'm writing this anyway, there are numerous tall office buildings around the city that are completely restricted. Not villas like in Mannsdale but really significant buildings. Are there also missions that lead you there, or are they just facade?

I've already started a similiar thread, but I'd like to suggest an advanced version here:
The Live Events board does need a serious revamp; the way it's organized now, it's maybe good for keeping up with happenings by reading the current threads.
As an archive, for new players or for those reviewing them, it's chaotic and very inconvenient.
Here are a few self-evident (and from my point of view, not terribly difficult) suggestions how to change that:
1) Divide the board into three sections.
-The first one would be for the standard reports of already past events, the majority of the LE board -- an archive of all previous happenings.
-The second one would be for event announcements, from what I've seen, also the only type where the story characters use to post further messages. Seeing a thread in this board section, the user will immediately know that it's an announcement for an upcoming/running event, most likely with updates by story characters.
-The third and last one would be dedicated to LESIG introductions -- a perfect place to overlook all liaison officers at once instead of picking them from the LE board and eventually floating the thread to the top.
These have nothing to do with the current storyline, and should be definitely devided from the rest.
2) Divide the first section by chapters / subchapters / missions (right now, the events seem to base on the weekly released criticals), and highlight the threads directly having to do with a big event -- for example, the Blue Sky event had a lot of threads attached directly to its content, and things like these should be obvious for the user when he scrolls through the board.
Also, it would be rather helpful to provide certain threads with links to other threads reporting about related issues, or about a similiar event on another server: there were at least three threads by Agent Gray reporting about the Morrell Helipad -- connections between connected events should be easy and handy to find.
Instead of messing with the forum itself, a new section could be implemented into DN1, containing links to all the threads in the way described.
Share your thoughts, please.

From a story point of view, does it make much sense for the General to develop extra trained Elite Commandos, or for redpills to consume cheat codes in order to get more powerful, if you still can wipe an army of them out in a mission area without any of this?

I guess most of us know that: You can't move through the world without the performance bucking and stopping for seconds all the time and your character being dragged meters back again and again, or it takes seconds to activate between activating an UI panel and the panel actually showing up. Let's say that happens while not a single program is running on my PC apart from MxO, what are the exact reasons for this incredibly annoying issue, and how can I prevent that (except of decreasing the graphics quality)? For those among us who are eventually less home in this particular subject (others might want to skip): Basically, there are 15 mission tracks contained in the game folder, 3 for each "organization": MisZion, MisMachines, MisMerovingian, MisNiobe, and Mission1. MisNiobe was actually designed for the Zion missions controled by Anome, and although some track occasionally leaked on an Anome mission here and there, it never really worked. If they haven't fixed it for the archival missions, they're probably working on fixing it. Mission 1, "neutral", is played in neighborhood contact and PB missions. However, apart from the two tracks played ingame, for out of combat (marked with an "L" in the music folder, "primary" and in combat (C for "neutral", H for the rest), there's a third track in each case (M, "secondary" which has never found a way into the game - except Machines, which is the combat music for the Zero One and One Zero archives.
Now, with the upcoming white hallways and org specific areas, there's a suggesting opportunity to do justice to these great tracks by Don Davis by implementing them as background music for these new areas. On the other hand, of course, it would give the areas a special feeling that's different from missions, and just add something to the musical variety. It would go easy as this: MisZionM, MisMachinesM and MisMerovingianM for the according organization areas, and Mission1M for the actual hallways. A (probably worse) alternative to implementing them as primary music would be as combat music, if there will be enough combat in these areas. The more energetic character of the M tracks qualifies them for this, more or less, but again, I think it would be the weaker alternative. Except that I could've written this shorter, what are your thoughts on this? P.S: Those who'd like to listen to the M tracks, take a look in here: http://www.mxoarchive.net/music.html

I'm wondering if Shavo Odadjian from System Of A Down sings anywhere in the albums. I guess we know that he sometimes shouts a few words in concerts (like in the live performance of "Prison Song" in the astoria cluc). I've also noticed that on the new albums there are sometimes apparently three voices singing. Is it Shavo joining the other two or are these just multiple recordings with only Serj and Daron singing? Regardless of that, do we hear his voice anywhere on the albums? Message Edited by zeroone5069 on 02-18-200609:53 AM

Pro: It gives a nice feel of realism and action. SWATs patrolling through a large office floor just looks cool. Contras: -It's hard to catch all messages with NPCs moving around the whole mission area, especially if they change as the mission progresses. Problem increasing with NPC number. -It can be inconvenient to even track one single NPC. Problem increasing with mission area size and complexity. -Patrolling NPCs can leave the mission area. I've never seen one actually opening the elevator and disappearing (like I've seen hostile NPCs doing it), but a few still magically disappeared, after last being seen suspiciously near to the exit. -Two or more NPCs can merge into each other, when stopping from patrolling. When that happens, mostly only one of them is targetable, the other ones either extremely hardly or not at all. Again, very frustrating if you want to get the whole content out of a mission and can't talk to certain NPCs. -The information on the mission map becomes useless and irritating. Conclusion: Remove the patrolling!

1) Introduce an option to the map to reset all rooms to "untouched" -- in cases where you have to search a large mission area a second time, it would definitely be helpful. 2) Each multi-level area should have a separate map for each floor, that can be "tagged" separately room by room. The seedy "maze" apartments in Richland and primarily Westview are the perfect example of how it should be, aswell as of course similar areas in International or Downtown. Others however, like villas or certain types of warehouses (those with flat rooftops, like in Ikebukuro or Lemone), show the entire area at once. The room highlighting is the biggest problem here: it's already hard enough to orientate oneself with all these different shades of red, but additionally, some rooms don't react to touching at all, and others you haven't touched are already highlighted. Even after you've gone through each and every room, certain areas are still dark red, as if you hadn't touched them. This cries for a fix. 3) I think the same should be carried over to the hacker map: right now, it shows all mission objects in the area; while that might have advantages in certain cases, there should at least be an option to only view the objects on your floor.

1) Both on the new albums and the recent concerts, Serj Tankian's voice timbre sounds quite different in the higher pitches. Earlier, it was a kinda skinny and slight tenor (in a positive sense, of course), and now it sounds rather richer and smoother, and in my opinion, more "unnatural". Is it because of the sound, or has Serj just lived up to his status as a vocal acrobat once again and simply switched his voice mode in accomodation to the new style and Daron's increased singing parts? 2) What's the name of that accustic plucking instrument in "Deer Dance" or "Nüguns"? Also, in the verses of "Toxicity", "Chop Suey" or the refrain of "Psycho"? 3) In "Mezmerize"/"Hypnotize", there are lots of instrumental passages with an instrument that somehow sound like a merge of electric guitar and an Armenian accustic instrument (mentioned above). Is it really just Daron's guitar, or what is it? Examples: The instrumental solos in "Lonely Day" and "Soldier Side", and also the middle parts of "Dreaming", "Hypnotize" and partially "Radio/Video". 4) What kind of folk music is "used" in the middle part of "Cigaro"? You know, the instrumental passages between "Can't you see that I love my c***?" 5) I've already asked it, and it was partially answered. Still, when exactly does Shavo Odadjian sing in the albums? If he does it at all... 6) Arto Tuncboyaciyan is the man behind the "Arto" outro on "Toxicity" and did "SerArt" together with Serj Tankian. I read somewhere that he "also worked together with SOAD before". Is there any way he's involved in their albums, like playing certain instruments or co-composing passages? I hope someone knows the answers or at least interview links about these topics

- Do the requirements for good performance fluctuate due to server or other connection issues? I sometimes have absolutely fluent performance and sometimes unbearable bucking -- independent from area or player number in my area, and all at highest settings. Could it be that, when the performance quality decreases, the server sends more challenging information to the client, and exceeds my PC's capabilities, while in other times, it sends less challenging data and my PC can handle it? Or, if I can have totally smooth performance at highest settings, any lag not specifically coming from server issues (or extreme player density) is server side or due to connection, and upgrading my PC won't help anything? - If I'm hearing my hard drive rattling all the time during lag, do I then know that it comes from my PC? Because, sometimes, I get unbearable lag without the hard drive sound, and in other times, have perfect performance with the hard drive making noise as crazy.

Hi! I don't know, perhaps someone remembers me, I'm that guy who... ... no? ... well...
Anyways, I left somewhere in the middle of chapter 7, and haven't really followed the MxO storyline since then (my interest suddenly went from extremely high to zero, why, I don't know), except maybe for the cinematics, a few storyline summary articles and something I caught from some forum threads.
Sadly, I don't see myself going to catch up with or delve into the story anymore (come back to see the reworked animations and Datamine and probably leaving again in a month or so - still lacking enthusiasm and increased real life occupations), but some interest in the game's development surely remains.
I'm not asking for a detailed plot summary or something (it's on DN1, after all), but I'm curious about some general things:
What main story arcs, developments/changes in situation and revelations have occurred? I've got basics such as the war or the Intruder, but not that much.
Has anything being revealed in relation the movies' storyline, anything that would change perspectives when watching (except for the reinsertion denial)? What's with that investigation on the pods?
Anything significant/interesting added to the universe?
Also, in your opinion, how has the quality evolved? I read it was to become more complex, detaied, intervowen and continuous before I left (something like that). Does that apply? Is the story (or writing) "exciting", or how much in comparison to previous times? Basically, what am I missing lol?

I thought I'd better ask it here. The time limit before the box and the attackers disappear is 25 minutes from the moment you activate it. Now, can I be certain that I can let the bodies unlooted for so long, and not bother searching them before I get drawn in combat and losing time and health? Or do their unlooted bodies disappear as quickly as standard gang corpses, which means, far less than 15 minutes?

Full of expectations after I happened to read a short review of the 24 game, I went to amazon to read a more particular review. The description almost made me euphoric, but then I suddenly came across a little detail: "Platform: PS2". :smileymad:
I mean that's just too silly. Have I missed anything? Isn't there really any way at all to get the game for PC? Or is only the current version for designed PS2 and versions for other consoles and PC shall follow? I mean, this just can't be true...

I think I've found all that are on Broadcast Depth (incl. the "Week Reviews" earlier on), but they aren't complete: between Chapters 8 and 9 everything's missing (at least I didn't find it), and some earlier summaries I copied and pasted in my own files (like 7.2, for example) seem to be missing now.
Has anyone compiled a comprehensive, chronological list of Rarebit's summaries, or is there any good way of "singling them out" on DN1 (except for limiting the articles to "development", which doesn't give much)?

First of all, I don't know exactly how that book is called in English; either it's "24": The Official Investigation or 24: The House Special Subcommittee's Findings at CTU -- the German version, anyways, is called "Ermittlungssache CTU". The one or other way, it's the one where Jack Bauer reviews the Nightfall Operation (the elimination of Victor Drazen) and his experiences in Season 1.
However, here's what I don't understand: Stephen Saunders, the Season 3 villain, is said to be the former member of Jack's Nightfall team. Looking back into the book (in the German release, on page it's page 13), Bauer lists all of his team members and Saunders' name doesn't appear anywhere.
If it matters anything, here are the names: Dwayne Shelton, Brice Gardener, Haj Illijec, Gary Graham, Roger Voss and Fred Peltzer. Now, I've only seen Season 3 once, but as far as I remember, there was no talk about Stephen Sauders being a fake name. How does that fit together? Or even more important, how "canon" is that book at all? It seems very canon because of all the information that's hardly mentioned in any of the first three seasons, like the brought up Nightfall Operation details.
Also, an interesting marginal fact: What do Erin Driscoll from Season 4 (about to see it, so no spoilers please) and Pauline Driscoll from the book have in common? Just a coincidence? OK, stupid question, let's move on.
Generally, I'd just really like to know how canon Marc Cerasini's 24 books are. There's only that one in Germany yet, but there are apparently four new ones released in English. Are they really just purely additional, like the Star Wars novels by whosoever, or part of the ... yes, in that case, it could be called "franchise". I'd really like to know it. This is something I don't understand about paragraphs ("enter" key) while typing my text:
Sometimes, I keep typing directly under the previous line, like
this,
while in other times, the next line lefts a line space in between, like
this.
This space was artificial, with an empty line inside, because right now it works properly. However, sometimes you click on the empty line accrued and the blinkining typing sign just doesn't show up there, because there isn't any line.
Is it a bug? Or are there rules defining this?

I guess everybody knows Serj Tankian's deep growl mode -- in "Cigaro", "Prison Song", "Needles" and "X", aswell as lots of times in Self Titled. It doesn't really sound human, and I'd actually take them for distorted. However, seeing as, in different songs from Self Titled ("War?", "P.L.U.C.K."), Tankian jumps from normal singing to this growl timbre very fast and fluently, just as he hops from standard voice to falsetto in other songs ("DDevil" f.e.), I start wondering if that's really the case. Is that some clever technical trick (like quick mike mode switching), or is this metallic timbre actually Tankian's undistorted voice?
And while I'm at it: on Self Titled, you can sometimes hear a vibrating squeal sounds by Tankian -- like in "Mind" (2x, in the instrumental verse intros) or "CUBErt". The squeal itself is most certainly real, but the vibration aswell? Or a technical volume trick? Message Edited by zeroone5069 on 06.21.2006 12:31 AM

As the title says.
If I send an email to someone, is there any possibility to view what I've written?

When is a high-pitched, clean singing called falsetto, when is it just high-pitched singing? How high can a man generally go with falsetto, or generally, his voice? Second octave certainly. But also third?
What's the definitions for "growling" and "shouting"? Does it refer to the different pitches, or are they general terms for different types of screaming, independent from the pitch? Like "shouting" being the more musical one and "growling" the uglier, more aggressive version (those knowing SOAD probably know what I'm talking about)?
Or, if "growling" refers to deep timbres, is it actual deep roaring (like Wilska's part in Nightwish's "10th man down", for example), or rather the death-rattle like Serj Tankian from SOAD uses it?
What's refered to as "Black Metal" shouting? Is it the way Chestor Bennington from Linkin Park uses to scream, or rather Tankian's high-pitched shrieking? And besides, do all the terms like "shrieking", "screaming" or "roaring" have an official, or professional meaning at all, attributed to certain techniques?
Sorry for the lack of professionality in these questions, but I'm hardly home in this subject, and would just terribly like to know more about it all.

Actually, the conjunctive (or "past", who cares?) third person singular form of "to be" is "was". If, say, someone in a mission text says "... that it were possible", is it definitely a typo, or is there some slang, dialect or old-fashioned form where it's correct?
