Yeah I agree with Reg entirely, and accept that Assassin on live could be interpreted as overpowered (although purely because of multi IL) witthout the multi IL it falls too far and the disable evade as it stands isn't remotely a compensation. I can see it working now when other classes have no real clue what is going on, but with only the smallest of experiences anyone with a brain will effortlessly be able to deny a spy an attack, as to the success rates a spy is dead without his opening attack the hit rate has to be better than it currently appears on the test server (the opponents aren't even geared to repel sneak attacks yet!) By all means lift the sneak into the translucent field maybe even root the spy while they take their opponents shield is taken down etc to allow the player an oppertunity to respond....but spys should be about those killer strikes....if the strikes are not too damaging then the sheild has to stay down....atm its a case of move into sneak... take shield down.... move into sneak...... make attack... move into sneak.... take shield down....move into sneak.... make attack and very likely repeat for yet a third time before the kill takes place. I appreciate your advice xblindsidex btw very much and hear what you say about Suplex but ironically that isnt even on the Assassin tree, nevertheless I will continue to try some varied lo variants to make the spy work I am just dissapointed that Assassin seems to have become the new DataMiner!

KungFu Grandmaster and the like ARE NOT BUFFS OR UPGRADES this is knowledge loaded into our RSI before we go into the matrix, we shouldn't need to activate then this is a significant change of concept in CR2.0 and imo is very very wrong it takes up hotbar space, it means more clicking before any real combat takes place, its messy and pointless.....these abilities should be passive and autoactivating, problem solved.

I agree having to manually activate buffs is wasting time and hotbar space it also adds an unnescessary change when CR2.0's changes are already alienating existing players. I also dislike intensely that these are now regarded as buff's when they should be knowledge encoded to you RSI as they are in the live system, no need to activate, never off and when I use hybrid trees they 'stack' as skills would if you learned them in real life - Do you know Kung-Fu? Not with CR2.0 it seems This is the third thread asking for auto activated abilities....we want less button pressing, more streamlining and to encourage existing players onto the QA by what is familiar but improved not what is changed seemingly for changes sake. The spy tree has got a very raw deal, unquestionably the worse hit of CR2 and the weakest of all the offensive trees. There are ways i understand to get an 'adequet' effectiveness by use of multiple branches but Assassin and MKT by themselves have been seriously over nerfed. No good asking for them to revert to the orignal tree either, the loss of Multi IL devastates assassin all by itself. Virtually anything kicks you out of sneak, consumes enormous is or just plain misses too often, it may fool a few ppl to begin with but without serious changes the spy tree is pretty much dead

Good work Montoia the MKT branch does seem to be the better of the two, PvE I dont have any issues though for PvP I dont think we should just accept the Assassin has to remain so ineffective in isolation. I was also concerned by a thread elsewhere mind, that suggested the Suplex was to be nerfed as that seems pivotal in generating an adequet build.

This is an extremely important issue for the acceptance of cr2.0 and I'm not convinced its just balance, the advantages given by levelling have be drastically slashed, abilities formerly passive have been promoted to active and can be shut down..this is very unsatifactory and will be interpreted as a significant nerf to all existing players to pander to newbies (this has never been raised as a problem before, genuine newbies dont have a preconcieved idea of what they can and cant affect therefore feel no benefit, MxO already provides one of the easiest levelling curves of any mmo). The increase of effectiveness of a player in combat must be significantly increased at each level or else there will be no inspiration to level!!

In fact a truce between Merov and machine is actually contradictory to the story, it would be a serious shame if, in a story driven mmo such as this gameplay actively denies a properly developed and established aspect of Matrix lore! If I wanted a souless piece of pvp junk I would play Planetside :smileyindifferent:

Broke or not the spy tree has been overnerfed, Spy's have got a raw deal relative to all other tree's and it should be a priority for attention by the devs.

Ironically Vector draws both the people who most care about the story from the films etc who want the most real experience a game can give them and the opposite type of player, the one who couldn't care less about the story and is only here to use the game engine in a souless manner (pvp at all costs i guess but I'm genuinely lost as to why these people dont go to another game)......as such the behaviour and maturity of the server is reduced by the frustration wherein these two groups meet. I can understand the LET being more reserved in their presence here tbh.... it can offer the very best and most rewarding experience, but it can also ruin the most well organised and well meaning of visits!

Meh you miss the point entirely, and I certainly didnt see any real complaints about the post wedding entertainment provided by you machines....fact is we Merovs do what we want when we want...it includes choosing when where and what we kill. Not that I'd anticipate a blinkered, inflexible machine op to be able to grasp that concept.... but live with it you must cus we own this place now!

Truth is that as with most things you get out of it what you put in. Yes there are places you will go and be relentlessly ganked, but there are lots that hardly see another player. Vector requires you to be more alert, more adaptable and more involved in the reality of the situation, choose your coding area's carfully and keep a eye over your shoulder, want to talk with another player invite then to a secure location away from the masses. You live in a dangerous city on Vector it can't be turned off, avioded in the same manner as other servers, some players are mean, some stupid, some childish, some devious, some dedidcated and some truely benevolent any rp needs to reflect this - its actually a marvelous thing when you but realise it - ever thought how totally meaningless death is in MxO, see the reaction of some of the fallen of Vector and perhaps get an idea how very seriously it may be taken. If you want structure, carefully designed events, security and control Vector is not for you, if however you want to live in Megacity and have the full immersive experience, filled with tension, danger, death, freedom and as much variety as the game engine allows Vector is the only place to be.....ya pays ya money and ya takes your choice!

This is a bit of a downer on cr2 as we get hit so often....any chance we could have the animation only if the shots score more than a certain degree of damage? This would tone down the effect and indeed give it a function to warm you of serious damage as opposed to negligible damage (which most is).

agreed! An assassin strike either needs to kill in one (which is kinda dull) or do heavy damage and a hefty debuff, or have a valid IL support (melee tactics boost on the selfdefence tree is fine if that boost allows you to hit more often with the lesser damage powers etc). Knife fights would be very cool indeed!

I've just said this in another thread but using a style should automatically activate the associated buff, if that occurs the need to place these in a hotbar ceases and we gain some placeholders back. Having to activate these buffs manually is a very poor idea imo taking up hotbar space and without a single positive reason I can think of?

If you switch weapons again the style you adopt to use the weapon should be automatically selected if it is in your Loadout. It seems there is a change in the very concept of loadouts here, the original concept sees you construct an RSI with the appropriate skills and knowledge for the task you are going to perform in the matrix. You should know how best to emply those skills not have to press a buttun which injects that ability for a predefined time (after all the only consequence is that it will catch people out who forget to do so...its has no material value in its application). The inference of this change is totally wrong imo and contrary to matrix lore. Its not a bug per-se it is a design element and one which is WRONG. The only time you should really be employing such button pressing mechanics is in area's where a necessary draw on IS is required (you dont need that for things you learn only to emply the subsequent special abilities) or in the situation where you are a patcher passing on buffs to yourself or others.

You are obviously on the wrong server, all the things you suggest could be enjoyed (?) on the non hostile worlds either Syntax or Recursion. Vector is harsh although tbh there are locations and HL's where you would hardly ever see another player if you did not want to. Stealth, discression and streetsmarts are what you need to employ of vector and the support of a good faction will always help. The hostile world is dangerous and always will threaten you but particularly as you get to the higher levels you may well find the additional involvement a benefit and enhancement to the game rather than the obstacle it seems atm.

The merger has obviously caused a few headaches that still need to be sorted (we have members still unable to log on) But once that fuss has died down, I do expect pandora's box will be an early SOE additions given all the preamble we have been having and the fact we can now see the promises of 'something special' for the level 50's are not about the Zen tree etc.

Autoactivating stuff such as KungFugrandmaster and the like would reduce pressure on the hotbars (and be similar to what we currently experience) and the drop down for speed, power, grab and block from the current combat system should return. At a time when there is a degree of fear and trepidation at the number of changes of CR2.0 making the hotbar and activation methods familiar/similar to what we have at present would be a strong encouragement for people to give the system the benefit of the doubt. vaguely related...... I've not tried this yet but keybindings should be made to work even if the hud has been turned off, it would assist many a budding filmmaker. Message Edited by Tytanya_MxO on 02-08-200606:23 AM

I am prepared to eat my words and apologise for the original posting, it is far from useless I agree. The initial problem arose from trying to use the tree in the same manner as worked on the old system, essentially mkt WAS an awesome ranged tree and Assassin was a strike and get out tree, you didn't want to remain in IL for either .......once I realised/was told we could hold our own in IL my appreciation changed markedly.... It is actually very good and stands up well against other trees. For the future I remain dubious about the ability to 'disable evade', it seems ok for now but once players get street smart there seem a lot of options to deny it working. Equally I feel the arragement of the abilities forces the spy into taking multiple sub branches - taking any single branch of the spy would seem to leave you lacking imo so the need is the stradle the lower branches to get the right balance, it is therefore more difficult to generate hybrid builds outside the spy tree. Overall the biggest loss ability to solo at places like mara in a realistic manner, the old days of the quick kill would seem to be gone....though I havent completely given up trying just yet... Overall spy is Very good and perhaps more fun than before as we can now stay in IL and do our own thing.

TBH for all sorts of reasons not zerg releated I would love a more severe DE a full 5 minutes where you must not return to the battle would actually make properly resolvable conflicts etc. For the Zerg atm split EPN away as a pvpable group...you can still give them the same missions as zion but the seperation will mean Zion needs to exert more care in pvp situations (and inevitably will generate friction between one another). Split the cyphs in the same way BUT a new redpill should be awoken by Zion and then under the terms of the truce automatically be emplyed by the machines to keep order (at a later date being able to opt into other orgs). There is a good excuse for both Merovs and machines to have area's of the matrix where the exile gangs (for merovs) and security/agents (for machines) will actually fight at their side....the level and density of these could be adjusted to the org distribution of the server. Cryptos your message makes a great deal of sense, but fails to fully recognise individual ambition. Nevertheless the one undeniable fact I glean from your statements is that the real threat to your goal does not come from the Merovingian's empire but from those blindly and persistently undermining the Matrix with their program of awakening. Zion AND Machine organisations are working ferverently to destroy the very world we live in..... When Zion is dead and the Machines are brought to heel your dream can finally become reality.

Excellent stuff although I would like to see the return of the dropdown for the speed, power, grab & block tactics...1. to save hotbar space and 2. so that it feels more familiar to the existing system (which i am having difficulty selling to some of my friends) PS I like what looks to be your buffed clothes slots even more lol

We are looking at evolution here, within the Matrix Redpills and Exiles are top of the evolutionary tree, the option for the rest is to serve us or die. Machine's will be forced to see reason, redpills such as the Cypherites will be gladly reinstered to their pods and the rest either join us or die. The machines began life as the tools for mankind, their acceptance of the truce proves this remains their real ambition, we just need to adjust their perspective to realise something superior is to be served!

As things stand I expected a downgrade of this tree but now its too easy to knock a spy out of sneak and they are too ineefective when visible imo. It might cause outrage but if all sneak attacks that dont IL took you to the 'transparent form' for a specified time and didn't knock you completely out of sneak it makes a bit more sense. A spy should only really be forced out of sneak by another players specific ability to do so or by an attack on the sneaked individual imo. Likewise disguises should not be on a timer but should remain until penetrated by an opponent's ability to do so.... and this should be tough because people in disguise are always directly observed etc.

TBH i mostly agree with the OP, it was released too early even on the test server. I know the pressure was on, but all the focus and expectation was on a combat system fix not to begin over. When people moved onto QA and were left floundering it actually engendered a negative reaction we are still seeing now. Partly of unreasonable expectation and partly dissapointment at the loss of the familiar the biggest challenge now is getting enough enthusiasm in people to even give it a try. This is why I am keen to encourage changes which drag it back to a point where familiarity can be rekindled, I honestly think that is the most important and urgent achievement we who do visit the QA can make for CR2.0 atm......get it to the point it can sell itself then get people back.

As its a full year since I wrote my characters back story and theres no way to read it, this might not tally fully with what is written there but the gist should be the same and this probably reads better....or maybe not I've no idea lol. Sarah Bryant came from a rich family background, she was always physically very strong and dedicated to exercise etc but even taking this into consideration she seemed to be able to call on strength beyond natural limits. Her somewhat violent and sadistic nature had her spend a spell in the juvenile Penitentiary' and when she was released she found her on the underground fighting circuits and even in illegal 'death-matches' where her unusual prowess came to the attention of Ookami. With a lack of conscience or remorse Sarah became a hired thug for the Merovingian, one of the few blue-pills to rise to a position as a Chateau guard (a disguise she still sometime employs) and in this role encountered and fought Niobe and Zion forces on several occasions. Zion finally selected Sarah for extraction, as much to remove her as an obstacle as to perhaps exploit her contacts within the Merovingian organisation. However she was too vicious and ruthless for most redpill duties and came into conflict with Niobe on several occasions before having her Matrix access revoked. Unable to accept rejection and the loss of her uber-powers she attempted to assassinate Niobe but was thwarted and installed in Zion's own Pen. An organised break found her and a small band steal a hovercraft and meet up with Merovingian operatives on the outside.

The rpg & mmo market has been saturated with fantasy/sword/sorcery games for the last 10 years...tbh I'm sick of them so comparing WoW (which has childishly plain characters & garish cartoon like environments) and a comtemporary game such as MxO is kinda redundant. I am aware and dissapointed that MxO pvp is so devoid of purpose and would welcome some comments related to a game which actually competes with it on the same level...pvp is just a part (and a very small part at the outset) as to why I chose this game what about story, what about community, what about style and substance....... is there anyone who has some contemporary or futuristic style mmorpg's that could be considered (SWG is one but imo compares badly to MxO and actively spoils its source material in a destructive manner).

As far I can tell it seems that to get proper resistances the right clothing buffs are just as important as before...perhaps more so since we are generally less robust from our LO's. The only bright light in this otherwise dissapointing revelation is that there are more varied buffs spread across more styles of clothing.
