http://kotaku.com/5233501/left-4-de...ee-for-24-hours As of 00:01 GMT this Friday, Valve's spectacularly-popular zombie shooter Left 4 Dead will be made free to download over the company's Steam digital delivery service. Yes, instead of spending $40 on the game, you can spend $0. The catch? The offer's only good for a 24-hour period, and once that 24 hours is up, the "free" game will be locked, and you'll need to pay up to play up. If your connection is slow and you're worried you'll spend 23 of those 24 hours downloading the game, don't worry, you can pre-load it now and then just flip the switch on Friday morning.

http://www.thelocal.se/19120.html For those that are too lazy to click the link: Robot attacked Swedish factory worker Published: 28 Apr 09 10:12 CET Online: http://www.thelocal.se/19120/20090428/ Dictionary tool Double click on a word to get a translation A Swedish company has been fined 25,000 kronor ($3,000) after a malfunctioning robot attacked and almost killed one of its workers at a factory north of Stockholm. Public prosecutor Leif Johansson mulled pressing charges against the firm but eventually opted to settle for a fine. "I've never heard of a robot attacking somebody like this," he told news agency TT. The incident took place in June 2007 at a factory in Bålsta, north of Stockholm, when the industrial worker was trying to carry out maintenance on a defective machine generally used to lift heavy rocks. Thinking he had cut off the power supply, the man approached the robot with no sense of trepidation. But the robot suddenly came to life and grabbed a tight hold of the victim's head. The man succeeded in defending himself but not before suffering serious injuries. "The man was very lucky. He broke four ribs and came close to losing his life," said Leif Johansson. The matter was subject to an investigation by both the Swedish Work Environment Authority (Arbetsmiljöverket) and the police. Prosecutor Johansson chastised the company for its inadequate safety procedures but he also placed part of the blame on the injured worker. ---------------------------------------- And so it begins... Wheres John Connor?!?!

http://kotaku.com/5230220/marvel-vs...ort-demo-coming It's been rumored. It's been practically verified. Now it's announced: Marvel VS Capcom 2 will be coming to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 this summer with a new visual filter and online matching modes. The game, which was developed for the PS3 and 360 by Foundation 9 and is based on the Dreamcast code, will sell on the Playstation Network Store for $15 and on Xbox Live for 1,200 Microsoft Points. During their event in Monte Carlo last week, Capcom said that a demo of the game will be coming to the Playstation Network on April 30 in North America and shortly thereafter in the UK. No demo for the 360 was announced. It features an optional visual filter that smooths out the game's graphics and new online modes, including Ranked Matches and the Quarter matches found in Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, which allows up to four people to watch and chat while two others fight. It also features widescreen support with the gameplay in a 4:3 field, but the viewing area expanded. The best part? No unlockables in the game. All 56 characters are accessible from the get go. The original, and this latest version, features brawlers from the Capcom and Marvel universes. It also features 3 on 3 tag-teammatches and four button controls.

The End is Nigh-er! Skynet shall soon be upon us! The Cybot Age could soon be upon us. But be not afraid; this isn't Star Trek. We're not talking droves of evil cyborgs bent on galaxy domination. If all goes as planned, in just a few years colonies of software robots -- "cybots" -- linked into a "hive" mind could be defending the largest computer systems in America against network intruders. Researchers at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory say the program behind the cybots — Ubiquitous Transient Autonomous Mission Entities (UNTAME) — will be very different from current cybersecurity systems. Joe Trien, who leads the team at the lab's Computational Sciences and Engineering Division, said what will make cybots so useful is that they will be able to form groups, function autonomously and respond almost immediately. Trien likened the UNTAME framework to the Borg, a fictitious race of cybernetic organisms in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" that assimilated other cultures throughout the galaxy. "The difference between an agent-based system and UNTAME is that the cybots are designed to function on their own and they can regenerate," he said. "It works with other robots, and what it does is known by the collective. So when you lose a robot, the collective hasn't lost the information that robot was able to achieve up until the point it was killed." That's a quantum leap from current network "intelligent agents," which specialize in a single task and report to a central node or human administrator. Trien said there is little danger that cybots will organize and take over the world, stressing that the real-life "cyborg collective" would be bound by human directives. But he did acknowledge that there is a risk of malicious cybots running awry. "There's always that risk, and that's why we’re hesitant right now," Trien said. "If we don't put some boundaries on these cybots, they could turn against us. The potential is always there." UNTAME's new levels of speed and automation will likely prevent hackers from targeting one area of an network while using a diversion at another location.
And that couldn't come a better time. Cyberattacks on government computer networks spiked 40 percent last year, according to US-CERT, the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team. President Obama is now making computer security a priority and is asking Congress for $355 million to make private and public cyber systems more secure, as part of his Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative. Consumers lost nearly $240 million as a result of cybercrime in 2007, an all-time high and an increase of nearly $40 million from 2006, according to a report released by the National White Collar Crime Center and the FBI. Trien warned that a coordinated cyberattack today could cripple critical U.S. infrastructures with "little investment or expertise" on behalf of a hacker. "You could be a cyber-terrorist sitting anywhere around the world, and you could shut down the United States' economy if you were able to break into critical networks," he said. "We're very vulnerable." Not only could UNTAME help save thousands, even millions of dollars lost to cyber criminals, Trien points out that it will also also be cost-effective because once the system is set up, it runs itself. "You basically automate the process and do it real-time instead of having an individual doing it," Trien said. "What took you hours may now take you seconds." But the laboratory-tested prototype is at least two years away from private or municipal use, depending on resources made available through developers, Trien said. Lawrence McIntyre, one of the project's developers, said several kinks need to worked out before the program is used in real-world scenarios, including perfecting UNTAME's artificial intelligence system, which hasn't been "well developed yet," he said. "You have to make it easy for people to understand and easy for people to use," McIntyre said. "At this point, it's a very 'researchy-type' software." Commissioned in part by the U.S. Department of Energy, the project — which began in the early 1990s — was launched to response to security flaws in government computer systems. UNTAME has already garnered interest from the Air Force Research Laboratory, which leads the way in military-related computer security. "We've had several in-depth discussions," Trien said of ongoing talks with Air Force officials. "The Air Force has established long-range research objectives and we've discussed the possibility of assisting them in reaching their goals." Established in 1943, the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee is the Department of Energy's largest multipurpose, nonweapons laboratory. The 10,000-acre facility, which houses more than 4,000 staffers, initially served as the Manhattan Project's site to develop nuclear weapons. Following World War II, research efforts at Oak Ridge shifted to fields like biology, physics, medicine and national security. "If we don't do something to harden our network security and information, we're vulnerable to attack," Trien said. So the question is... whats going to kill us first? The LHC or Machine Uprising?

http://kotaku.com/5112418/pirates-o...econd-life-film Filmmakers and novelists have a long history of plucking stories out of newspapers and turning them into something wonderful, or not. But this one of those cases. Gore "Pirates of the Caribbean" Verbinski has purchased the rights to a 2007 Wall Street Journal article by Alexandra Alter about a sordid Second Life love affair between a married man and his in-game wife. Yeah, I know, I've heard that one about a thousand times before too. Apparently this whole "Second Life" thing is very new to Verbinksi, who will be directing the movie which is getting the script treatment by Steven Knight. I can't wait until it comes out so I can not go see it. Universal, Verbinski plan to role-play [Variety, thanks to the tipster whose name escapes me]

I own a PS3 too, but I'm a multiplatformer not a console fanboy... so I'm posting this for our PS3 fanbois! http://kotaku.com/5110889/littlebig...ales-disappoint Couple of sad stories for you today, PS3 owners. One involving a cute little title that should never have been thrust into the limelight as a system seller. The other, a gorgeous tactical RPG. Let's start with LittleBigPlanet, then. Media Molecule's quirky, original platformer was always going to be a struggle to sell to the holiday masses, what with it being an original IP that involved neither rock music nor guns. But even Sony's most pessimistic sales teams wouldn't have been prepared for this. The game sold an OK-ish 205,000 units in October, but wasn't out for that long. It'd do a lot better in November, when it was on sale for all four weeks, right? No. It sold a disappointing 141,000 units for the month, which saw it slip out of NPD top 20 charts altogether. Lord only knows how few copies it would have sold had it not been marketed to hell and high water. Then again, maybe that was the game's problem. The game itself is fine, as its "failure" is a relative one. Selling 346,000 of a niche, debut IP with novel concepts would otherwise have been a huge success! But selling 346,000 copies of your most high-profile holiday release? That is not a success. The second game we're looking at today is an even sadder tale. Valkyria Chronciles is one of the best-looking games of this hardware generation, and although tactical RPGs of the Japanese variety aren't big sellers, it still would have been nice to see it move more than 33,000 copies in North America for the month of November. 33,000 means the game wasn't even in the top 100-selling titles for the month. Meaning it probably got beaten by some Imagine: and Nancy Drew games. So sad. Quality PS3-exclusive titles are few and far between these days, so why were two of the best for the holiday season such poor performers? PS3 owners? Suggestions?

The end is nigh! The Cylonv

The Cylon and her creator v
A Canadian man, apparently unable to find the perfect woman, has done the next best thing — he's built himself one. Le Trung, a 33-year-old software engineer who lives with his parents in Brampton, Ontario, a suburb of Toronto, says he's spent about $20,000 so far on Aiko, a 5-foot-tall female android with clear skin, a slim if shapely figure and a wonderful disposition. • Click here for more photos. "She can recognize faces, she can identify medication, she can even butter your toast," Le Trung tells the Toronto Globe and Mail. Not only that, but Aiko speaks — in both English and, for some reason, Japanese. (Le Trung has a Vietnamese name.) She can also read. "Aiko is what happens when science meets beauty," Le Trung tells the Sun of London. "Aiko doesn't need holidays, food or rest, and will work almost 24 hours a day. She is the perfect woman." She still can't walk, however. That will take a lot more work and, Le Trung tells the Globe and Mail, a new round of funding. He hopes to create and sell more pretty female robots in the future. But, ahem, is there more than just companionship involved? "Aiko is still a virgin, AND NO I do not sleep with her," he writes on the Project Aiko Web site, though he admits that she "has sensors in her body including her private parts, and yes even down there." Well, seeing as how I am apparently the unofficial poster of video game related topics, I shall post one on Deadspace. I rented this last weekend on the PS3, and I am a pretty big fan of survival horror games... and this honostly blows every other one out of the water. It has amazing graphics and sound, a pretty good story with lots of background presented through audio and date files, no HUD at all which makes the game very cinematic, the atmosphere draws you in and you can't stop playing, and it has Space Zombies. Also, the space walking sections of the game are awesome. When you are in space, theres no sound except for what you can hear from inside your suit, like you breathing. You can hear gunshots from your gun, but they are extremely muffled and is as close to "real" space physics that you can get. And also, the game is actually pretty scary. I played the game in glorious High Defintion and Surround Sound and in the dark from 8pm-6 30 am one night, then 8pm-12 30 am the next to complete it... and the game just keeps the tension and scares that you don't want to put down the controler. Also, the final boss... while its an actually pretty easy battle, just the scope of it is EPIC. I thought it was a cinematic at first, and that I was dead meat... but it turned out to be gameplay and was very intense. And the high production values and general all around awesomeness of the game comes from a very surprising source: EA. So kudos to EA, to finally making an original IP in recent memory that is very fun. Also, there is a religous cult called Unitology in the game that is obviously suppose to be Scientology, so if you do not like Scientology, I highly suggest picking this up ^_^
All in all, I'll give this game a 5 dismembered body parts out of 5. And I highly recomend it to anyone with access to a PC, PS3, or a 360 who likes survival horror games or just action games in general.

By Ben Kuchera | Published: October 20, 2008 - 11:10AM CT While the big news on Friday may have been the delay of Sony's ertswhile console-seller LittleBigPlanet, gamers also received a curt e-mail from Sony letting them know that the terms of service for the PlayStation 3 have changed. "If you do not agree with the revised Terms of Service and User Agreement, please contact Customer Service to terminate your account(s). Otherwise, your or your Sub Account's continued use of your PLAYSTATION(R)Network accounts means you agree to the changes," the e-mail tells you. Let's dig into the new terms and see what it means for gamers. Here's a slight spoiler warning: you'll be slightly concerned. The first section of changes says that you should be of legal age to hold the main account on the system, and children under the age of 15 should be kept to a subaccount, although Sony does take pains to say there is no way to keep certain kinds of online content away from any account. So be a good parent, dang it! When you reach "the legal age of majority," you can have your own Master account. This is standard stuff; Sony needs to make sure it can't be sued because of children seeing or hearing inappropriate things when they play online. It goes downhill from there. Sony also has the right to keep records of anything you say or do online, or to simply listen in. "SCEA reserves the right to monitor and record any online activity and communication throughout PSN and you give SCEA your express consent to monitor and record your activities," the agreement reads. "Any data collected in this way, including the content of your communications, the time and location of your activities, your Online ID and IP address and other related information may be used by us to enforce this Agreement or protect the interests of SCEA, its users, or licensors." This is not the place to discuss your pirated copy of Resistance, in other words, or how you're planning on using custom firmware on your PSP.
Ars broke the story about the rather limiting DRM imposed on video purchases made through the PS3, and the inability to redownload your video content whenever you'd like is a big turn-off for the service. Sony has added an extra-special kick in the junk to the agreement as well, saying it has no responsibility for the data once you have downloaded it. "You bear all risk of loss for completing the download of any content and for any loss of content you have downloaded, including any loss due to a file corruption or hard drive crash. You are solely responsible for the storage and safekeeping of your content," the agreement warns. "SCEA is not responsible for providing you with replacement copies for any reason." This makes video purchases a bad idea: you can't re-download your content if anything happens to it, and you've already agreed that Sony doesn't have to help you if their hardware goes bad. Thanks, guys. The agreement even goes so far to state that it's okay if things don't work. "No warranty is given about the quality, functionality, availability or performance of PSN, or any content offered on or through PSN... SCEA assumes no liability for any inability to purchase access to or use any content" The other section heavily modified has to do with user-created content. With LittleBigPlanet and Guitar Hero: World Tour allowing you to create whole songs and levels respectively, Sony wants to make sure they can use whatever you create without being caught in any legal entanglements. "To the extent permitted by law, You authorize and license SCEA a royalty free and perpetual right to use, distribute, copy, modify, display, and publish your User Material for any reason without any restrictions or payments to you or any third parties," Sony explains. "You further agree that SCEA may sublicense its rights to any third party, including its affiliates and subsidiaries. You hereby waive all claims, including any moral rights, against SCEA, its affiliates and subsidiaries for SCEA or any other third party's use of User Material to the extent permitted by applicable law." You make it, they own it—done deal... according to your user agreement. User agreements exist for one reason: to cover the company's butt in the widest and most far-reaching way possible. With the exception of the video DRM it may be a while before we see any adverse practices come from this strongly worded agreement, if we ever do at all. That said, Sony is giving gamers much to worry about.---------------------------- So all the LBP people... have fun making games for Sony to use! :p Your check will be in the mail... oh wait, no it won't

Well, looks like we're going back to WWII, specifaclly the Pacific Theater... which hasn't been done before in CoD... but I would of liked to see it pick up where CoD4 left off... oh well. http://www.gamespot.com/news/619227...estnews;title;0 Call of Duty 5 sees World at War UK's Official Xbox Magazine reveals Treyarch-developed Call of Duty: World at War will visit the Pacific Theater of WWII with four-player player co-op and vehicular multiplayer. By Emma Boyes, Tor Thorsen, GameSpot UK Posted Jun 9, 2008 9:30 am PTIt's had its Finest Hour, there's been a Big Red One, and most recently, the series has waged Modern Warfare. Now, the latest Call of Duty game will see the World at War, reports the UK's Xbox 360: The Official Xbox Magazine. Confirming rumors, the game formerly known as Call of Duty 5 will indeed return to World War II, setting of all pre-Call of Duty 4 games. Developed by Treyarch--not series creator Infinity Ward--the game will portray US Marines fighting the Imperial Japanese in the Pacific. There will also be a "major chapter" in the game focusing on the invasion of Germany by the Soviet Union's Red Army. Treyarch president Mark Lamir told the magazine, "The direction for the team was to make the best game they could, and as they were doing this they created a grittiness that quite frankly made some people very uncomfortable...This is a scarier Call of Duty than we've ever seen." When asked about the decision to include graphic violence in the game, creative lead Rich Farrelly said, "It's not just gore and violence for its own sake, but reflects what veterans have told us and the actual history." One of the levels described in the magazine--called "Maken Raid"--features the torture of an Allied prisoner of war, who then has his throat slit by katana. The brutal scene is watched by the player's character, who is rescued by US Marines much like the real-life Raid at Cabanatuan in 1945. Based on the Call of Duty 4 engine, Call of Duty: World at War will include more destructible environments than prior games in the series. It will also allow players to swim underwater, as well as use Japanese machine guns and flamethrowers with "propagating fire" burning jungle scenery--and enemies--in realistic fashion. As for multiplayer, the 360 version will sport a four-player co-op mode which can be played with four consoles over Xbox Live, or two consoles each using split-screen. The co-op campaign will be very similar to the single-player campaign, with gamers constantly accumulating points which can be used to unlock perks. Its multiplayer mode will feature vehicles and squad-based elements. As revealed by Activision last month, Call of Duty: World at War is in development for the 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, and PlayStation 2. The game will ship during Activision's current fiscal year, with almost all prior Call of Duty games being released in the holiday quarter. Treyarch is also currently developing the new James Bond game, Quantum of Solace, using the Call of Duty 4 engine.

May 5, 2008 - Marvel Entertainment is going strong after Iron Man's huge opening weekend, and the company today announced their feature film release slate through 2011. That schedule includes the Iron Man sequel and Thor in 2010, and not one but two Avengers-themed movies in the summer of 2011. Iron Man 2 will hit theaters on April 30, 2010. Thor, which has Stardust helmer Matthew Vaughn attached, will follow on June 4, 2010. Then, on May 6, 2011, Marvel will release First Avenger: Captain America (that's the first we've heard of the movie's working title), followed by a full-on Avengers movie, aptly named The Avengers, in July 2011. The studio also confirmed that the Ant-Man film is still in active development with Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead) directing. There's no release date for that one yet. As Iron Man continues to rock the box office, Marvel is prepping for their next release, The Incredible Hulk, which opens on June 13. Source: http://movies.ign.com/articles/871/871576p1.html

Hey everyone! I have seen the error of my ways, I was under the control of the Smith Virus for a long time (hence the black hair and dreary disposition, but I'm blonde again and pretty happy!). He wanted me to be a Cyph to protect "the food supply" i.e. Blue Pill bodies and minds. He also made me do some terrible things To Close friends and factions, and I'm terribly sorry for what I did. But now, I want to right my wrongs and protect the REAL future of humanity: Zion. I believe that EPN is the best group for this, as they follow Neo's teachings and want all of humanity free, not just the one's that don't accept the Matrix. So if anyone can hook me up, that would be nice! I want to unplug people now, not pull jacks! Love, Eboleymoley

I started the spread of the Smith Virus on Recursion this morning, its moving about nicely... except for one problem. Smiths killing Smiths. So if I may ask all of you to do something, if you're a Smith don't commit suicide and kill other Smiths. Infect your server, and if you are not a Smith, you are suppose to be trying to get rid of the Virus. And please do this especially during the Live Events related to this event (When THE Smith Virus attacks) Don't attack Big Daddy Smith, help him purge the Matrix of the virus that is humanity. Thank you, this has been a public service announcement from Ebola Virus. I know this is a tough thing to ask to the 1337 PvPers, but you know... it kind of ruins the "feeling" of being a Smith if other Smiths are attacking each other :p PS And if you are on Recursion and are infected with the Virus, and you see me jack in... infect me ASAP plz? k thx.

((This story will span from the end of Revolutions to right before the arrival of Intruder, so this will be updated regularly. Ebola Prologue Part 1 of 3: The Virus Kierra Portman ran... she ran for her life, pushing trashcans out of her way and sending them crashing against the alley walls or to the ground. The rain-drenched, blonde woman furiously climbed over fences trying to escape her pursuers. She turned to look behind her, and heard a large explosion, and was knocked down on her back from the resulting shockwave. She stared at the tormented sky as the deluge rain hit her face, and lightning cut through the sky. As she sat up, she heard a multitude of splashes getting closer and closer, the sound of many people running towards her. Kierra jumped to her feet and spotted an open door in the alleyway. She quickly ran inside, slamming the door violently, she knew there was no use in locking the door, a locked door would not stop them she knew this too well. Kierra caught her breath and observed her surroundings, a long hallway with doors lining its sides was in front of her. She ran down the white hallway, desperately trying to open doors... but they would not budge. Eventually one opened and she entered a pitch-black room, shutting the door behind her. She breathed heavily, letting out a sigh of relief. Then she heard what sounded like a neck cracking. Lightning illuminated the room, and it was filled with the same black suited men that had been pursuing her through the city. The lights came on, and they began to slowly walk towards the petrified woman. One of them smirked and said, "Really... you did not think escaping from me would be that easy... did you, Ms. Portman?" Another picked her up by the neck, lifting her up from the ground, she kicked violently, gasping desperately for air. She stared into his black shades, the man snarled at her. "Your... pathetic excuse at eluding me was almost amusing, Ms. Portman... almost. No one can escape me... Ms. Portman... it was inevitable." Suddenly all of the identical looking men in the room looked to their right, and nodded at the same time. The man holding her laughed "It is over now... you are the last... but you will now become one of... me." He thrust his hand into her chest, and she looked down in horror as what looked like black liquid began to engulf her body. She felt cold, as if death was taking her, she looked at the smiling man and suddenly his head jerked violently to the side, throwing his shades across the room. The other men had similar violent reactions. His expression turned to utter shock and horror, whispering "No... no... this can not be... its not over!" Kierra watched as cracks began to appear on his body, watching them creep through the black liquid that had now almost totally engulfed her save for her head. White light began to erupt from the cracks, and the coldness suddenly changed to a searing heat. She was blinded by a white light as she felt a great amount of energy come into her body, burning her from the inside out, she screamed in terror and pain. She fell to the floor, and then fumbled through the room... but she did not feel any bodies as she ran. She crashed through a window, landing on the hard pavement outside, the rain hitting her face once more. The blinding whiteness faded, and she looked down the street. She watched as everything in front of her was seemingly erased and then reappearing. She could not believe what she was seeing. Whatever was happening was rushing towards her fast, she closed her eyes, and heard a voice "As I said, its not over yet... Ms. Portman."

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/852/852229p1.html Going to be released on PC, PS3, and 360 with co-op play! February 14, 2008 - It's been over seven years since Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2, but today Electronic Arts announced the third proper entry in the series is on the way. The real-time strategy game is currently in development at EA's LA studio and is planned for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The campaign is being built for co-op play and is aiming to hook both hardcore and casual players alike.
"The Red Alert games are known for challenging hardcore strategy gamers with depth, variety, and innovative gameplay," said Mike Verdu, General Manager of EALA. "But they also belong to that rare breed of games that can draw in more casual players with their over-the-top stories, instantly accessible mechanics, and straight-to-the-fun design. With Red Alert 3, our team is continuing that proud tradition by introducing genre-first features like co-operative campaign play, which rewards veterans and casual players alike. In Red Alert 3, friends and family can always have your back!"
"The team is staying true to the series' roots while adding new elements like a co-operatively played story-driven campaign, an astounding new faction that will shake-up the Red Alert universe as we know it, and units that will help make Red Alert 3 everything our fans have been waiting for," said Chris Corry, Executive Producer at EALA. "And by bringing naval combat into the heart of the game design, we're transporting that fast, fun and fluid C&C gameplay to the high-seas in ways that you've never seen before."
The conflict in Red Alert 3 is spurred by a time travel trip gone wrong. World War III is raging on three fronts between the Allies, the Soviets, and the Empire of the Rising Sun in the east. The tools of war include tesla coils, armed bears, battle dolphins, blimps, and floating fortresses.
PC strategists will get a chance to try Red Alert 3 early when Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath and the Command & Conquer 3 Limited Collection ship later this year. Both packs will come with access to the RA3 beta.

You believe Neo to be a god? Neo was a man, with a Machine program written into his code. He was part of a cycle, he is not a god. And you are here to judge? Yes, I'm sure Neo came down from Heaven to appoint you a judge of "his people". As I said to you, if Neo is alive and returns, he shall have to give EPN a good spanking for distorting and twisting his name, and destroying everything that he worked for. And then you say he was but a man before he went to the Source... so he became God after comming in contact with the Source? And I believe the Source is part of the Machines, is it not? When confronted with this fact you got up and left. So your god was given his god powers by the Source, so if Im putting this together... the Source should be the highest level of god. So, does that make the Machines your god Reposco? They created Neo, its like Zeus creating all the other gods then. Explain yourself, and don't tuck your tail behind your legs and run again. So those who are loyal to EPN or want to join them, do you believe Neo to be "god" as your esteemed liason does? You just sound like a bunch of crazed cultists to me, and give more evidence to you all being a bunch of fanatical terrorists not rational thinkers and honorable warriors.

Greetings all, The Masked, a Cypherite faction, is based on the tenets of the original Cypherites led by Gemeskreed: The Masked Men. We believe that the Matrix was created for humanity, and belongs ONLY to humans. The Matrix was created as a safe haven for humans after we destroyed our original world, not a safe haven for dangerous Exile programs that are here illegally. The safety of the Blue Pills is our perogative; we use our alliance with the Machines to further this goal. We hope that after the Zion and Exile threat is over, the keys to the Matrix will be handed over to us. The Matrix belongs to us, it's our world. SPOILERZ ZOMG YOU WERE WARNED Heres what the closest drawing to what the monster looks like: Heres all the spoilers, enjoy http://www.rottentomatoes.com/vine/...71&page=1&pp=30 Here are the juicy bits if you dont want to read. Its 80 minutes long. If you want an explanation on the monster's origin, you wont get one, sorry. No Chtulu, Mothra, Voltron, Godzilla, Mega Zord, Poke'mon, or any other monster related things are in the movie. You do get to see the monster fully, but not for very long, most of the movie you just hear it or see bits and pieces... as its ginormous It shakes off and drops crab like creatures that look like Zerg or the bugs from Starship Troopers. They bite people and they later inflate and explode as almost seen in the trailer. The monster does eat people, including one of the main characters. All the main characters die, there is what is believed to be a nuclear explosion at the end that kills off the two surviving characters and possibly Cloverfield, you never see the monster die. If you have motion sickness, you will most likely vomit, lots of shakey cam.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/618355...estnews;title;0 Vivendi merges with Activision in $18.9B deal Game industry sees paradigm shift as number two and number three independent game publishers ally to form "Activision Blizzard"; Vivendi to control 52% stake. For years, Electronic Arts has been the largest third-party publisher on the planet No longer. Two days after EA's CEO said game-industry mergers were winding down, the biggest such union in history was announced. Today, Vivendi Games and Activision declared they were joining forces in a deal valued at $18.9 billion to create the world's biggest independent game publisher. The new company, called Activision Blizzard, will remain publicly traded on the Nasdaq market in New York under the symbol ATVI. Under the terms of the deal, French media conglomerate Vivendi SA will contribute the entirety of its Vivendi Games subdivision--worth $8.1 billion--as well as $1.7 billion in cash for a 52 percent controlling stake in Activision Blizzard. Once the deal is approved, Activision Blizzard will offer holders of Activision's 146.7 million shares $27.50 for each share--a 31 percent premium over the 20-day average closing price. If the union is approved by US regulators, Activision Blizzard's estimated $3.8 billion in annual revenue will eclipse EA, which expects $3.35 to $3.65 billion in net revenue for its 2008 fiscal year. It will also put many marquee game franchises--Call of Duty, Tony Hawk, F.E.A.R., Diablo, StarCraft, Warcraft, and World of Warcraft--under a single roof. It will also give Activision's Guitar Hero franchise direct access to the library of Vivendi's Universal Music Group, the world's largest record label. Since the deal calls for the melding of Activision and Vivendi management teams, both were publicly pleased. "This alliance is a major strategic step for Vivendi and is another illustration of our drive to extend our presence in the entertainment sector," said Vivendi CEO Jean-Bernard Levy. "By combining Vivendi's games business with Activision, we are creating a worldwide leader in a high-growth industry." Activision CEO Bobby Kotick also gave the union his blessing. "This is a pivotal event in the continuing transformation of the interactive entertainment industry," he declared. "By combining leaders in mass-market entertainment and subscription-based online games, Activision Blizzard will be the only publisher with leading market positions across all categories of the rapidly growing interactive entertainment software industry and reach the broadest possible audiences."

First, before this became a Xbox exclusive, I was going to buy the PS3 just to play this game. If you're a Ace Combat fan, and a PS3 owner... buy a 360 to play it or play it at a friend's house. And I hope it does come to PS3, its just O.O Now for review! Wow, this is a truely amazing game. Besides the "Dance with the angels" line being used WAY too much, the game has basically no faults. Gorgeous visuals, amazing air battles, and just the sheer amount of things happening on screen at once is amazing. And no frame rate drops at all, even with battles going on in the air, sea, and land all at once. The online mutliplayer, I havent played much due to me being absorbed by the campaign... but so far, its pretty fun! Has up to 16 players, or 2 player online co-op for two custom missions. ...and I like it better than Halo 3. I give this game 10 dancing angels out of 10!

What are you doing still here? Go dance with the angels! ... Go play it I mean.

So... poor Eli, I knew that he was most likely going to die but getting your brain sucked out by a giant floating Space Slug O' Doom in front of your daughter is just a really crappy way to go. Im guessing that Episode 3 is going to start with a bang. "Unforseen consequences" So, was the G-man talking about Eli's death? Something to do with the Borealis? Something to do with the Giant Portal O' Doom being shut down/satelite being launched? Or something else entirely? And I must of missed something, but what was so special about the Borealis? Does it have Portal technology? Episode 3 speculation... I forsee a return to Black Mesa from Half-Life 1, since Episodes 1-3 are suppose to be Half-Life 3, it would be a nice way to end things. And I hope the G-man gets better explained... you got a little more in Episode 2... but I want to see his true Agenda.

I guess it would be a good time to become a Machinist! Sex and marriage with robots? It could happen Robots soon will become more human-like in appearance, researcher says http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/2127154...15829?GT1=10450 Humans could marry robots within the century. And consummate those vows. "My forecast is that around 2050, the state of Massachusetts will be the first jurisdiction to legalize marriages with robots," artificial intelligence researcher David Levy at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands told LiveScience. Levy recently completed his Ph.D. work on the subject of human-robot relationships, covering many of the privileges and practices that generally come with marriage as well as outside of it. At first, sex with robots might be considered geeky, "but once you have a story like 'I had sex with a robot, and it was great!' appear someplace like Cosmo magazine, I'd expect many people to jump on the bandwagon," Levy said. The idea of romance between humanity and our artistic and/or mechanical creations dates back to ancient times, with the Greek myth of the sculptor Pygmalion falling in love with the ivory statue he made named Galatea, to which the goddess Venus eventually granted life. This notion persists in modern times. Not only has science fiction explored this idea, but 40 years ago, scientists noticed that students at times became unusually attracted to ELIZA, a computer program designed to ask questions and mimic a psychotherapist. "There's a trend of robots becoming more human-like in appearance and coming more in contact with humans," Levy said. "At first robots were used impersonally, in factories where they helped build automobiles, for instance. Then they were used in offices to deliver mail, or to show visitors around museums, or in homes as vacuum cleaners, such as with the Roomba. Now you have robot toys, like Sony's Aibo robot dog, or Tickle Me Elmos, or digital pets like Tamagotchis." In his thesis, "Intimate Relationships with Artificial Partners," Levy conjectures that robots will become so human-like in appearance, function and personality that many people will fall in love with them, have sex with them and even marry them. "It may sound a little weird, but it isn't," Levy said. "Love and sex with robots are inevitable." Sex with robots in 5 years Levy argues that psychologists have identified roughly a dozen basic reasons why people fall in love, "and almost all of them could apply to human-robot relationships. For instance, one thing that prompts people to fall in love are similarities in personality and knowledge, and all of this is programmable. Another reason people are more likely to fall in love is if they know the other person likes them, and that's programmable too." In 2006, Henrik Christensen, founder of the European Robotics Research Network, predicted that people will be having sex with robots within five years, and Levy thinks that's quite likely. There are companies that already sell realistic sex dolls, "and it's just a matter of adding some electronics to them to add some vibration," he said, or endowing the robots with a few audio responses. "That's fairly primitive in terms of robotics, but the technology is already there." As software becomes more advanced and the relationship between humans and robots becomes more personal, marriage could result. "One hundred years ago, interracial marriage and same-sex marriages were illegal in the United States. Interracial marriage has been legal now for 50 years, and same-sex marriage is legal in some parts of the states," Levy said. "There has been this trend in marriage where each partner gets to make their own choice of who they want to be with." "The question is not if this will happen, but when," Levy said. "I am convinced the answer is much earlier than you think." When and where it'll happen Levy predicts Massachusetts will be the first jurisdiction to legalize human-robot marriage. "Massachusetts is more liberal than most other jurisdictions in the United States and has been at the forefront of same-sex marriage," Levy said. "There's also a lot of high-tech research there at places like MIT." Although roboticist Ronald Arkin at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta does not think human-robot marriages will be legal anywhere by 2050, "anything's possible. And just because it's not legal doesn't mean people won't try it," he told LiveScience. "Humans are very unusual creatures," Arkin said. "If you ask me if every human will want to marry a robot, my answer is probably not. But will there be a subset of people? There are people ready right now to marry sex toys." The main benefit of human-robot marriage could be to make people who otherwise could not get married happier, "people who find it hard to form relationships, because they are extremely shy, or have psychological problems, or are just plain ugly or have unpleasant personalities," Levy said. "Of course, such people who completely give up the idea of forming relationships with other people are going to be few and far between, but they will be out there." Ethical questions The possibility of sex with robots could prove a mixed bag for humanity. For instance, robot sex could provide an outlet for criminal sexual urges. "If you have pedophiles and you let them use a robotic child, will that reduce the incidence of them abusing real children, or will it increase it?" Arkin asked. "I don't think anyone has the answers for that yet - that's where future research needs to be done." Keeping a robot for sex could reduce human prostitution and the problems that come with it. However, "in a marriage or other relationship, one partner could be jealous or consider it infidelity if the other used a robot," Levy said. "But who knows, maybe some other relationships could welcome a robot. Instead of a woman saying, 'Darling, not tonight, I have a headache,' you could get 'Darling, I have a headache, why not use your robot?' " Arkin noted that "if we allow robots to become a part of everyday life and bond with them, we'll have to ask questions about what's going to happen to our social fabric. How will they change humanity and civilization? I don't have any answers, but I think it's something we need to study. There's a real potential for intimacy here, where humans become psychologically and emotionally attached to these devices in ways we wouldn't to a vibrator." Levy is currently writing a paper on the ethical treatment of robots. When it comes to sex and love with robots, "the ethical issues on how to treat them are something we'll have to consider very seriously, and they're very complicated issues," Levy said. Levy successfully defended his thesis Oct. 11.

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/826/826662p1.html *Vader* Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EA buys BioWare, Pandemic The Mass Effect and Mercenaries developers change hands for more than $800 million. by Ryan Geddes October 11, 2007 - Electronic Arts announced today that it has purchased the holding company that owns BioWare and Pandemic Studios.
The acquisition will cost EA about $775 million, which includes a $650 million cash payment to the stockholders of VG Holding Corp., which directly owns the two developers, and an additional $155 million in equity to select VG employees.
As part of the agreement, EA said it plans to lend up to $35 million to the company through the closing of the deal, expected in January. EA will also assume outstanding VG Holding Corp. stock options.
VG Holding is owned by Elevation Partners, which invested $300 million in BioWare and Pandemic in November 2005, creating one of the world's best-funded and largest independent game development houses.
Elevation Partners (which includes U2 front-man Bono) was formerly headed by John Riccitello, who left EA in 2004 to form the company. Riccitello re-joined EA as chief operating officer in April.
"We are truly excited by John Riccitiello's new vision for EA," said Ray Muzyka, Co-founder and CEO of BioWare Corp. in a news release Thursday. "This vision is consistent with BioWare's focus on crafting the highest quality story-driven games in the world. It will enable us to further the careers of the passionate, creative and hard working teams at BioWare Edmonton and BioWare Austin."
Pandemic Studios is led by Andrew Goldman, Josh Resnick and Greg Borrud. BioWare Corp. is jointly led by Greg Zeschuk and Muzyka. Those teams will join the EA Games Label run by Frank Gibeau, President of EA Games.
BioWare's upcoming RPG Mass Effect is scheduled for a November 20 release. Pandemic Studios is currently working on Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, expected to be released in April.

Im pulling me a NightTrace! Explain to me, how getting from one end of Richland to the other is a valid test of "Cypherite abilities" to determine who would get to destroy Old Zion? It was a test on how fast your computer was, not how well you sabotauged a EPN or Zion operation, protected Blue Pills, or done some other "dastardly" act. I am "honored" to have been one of the few chosen to even participate, but it was not a valid test of abilities, just connection and computer speed. I mean, this should of been a test for seeing who would be best carrying the Olympic Torch, not destroying Zion and becoming "infamous". So when the event comes around for EPN to eventually to find Neo or the "real" Morpheus, do something other than a race :p. So thats the end of my whiny rant, but I want an answer on *why* getting from one end of laggy *CENSORED* Richland to the other was a good test of Cypherite abbilities.

Yes, you get to use the Wii mote as a lightsaber! http://wii.ign.com/articles/820/820763p1.html September 18, 2007 - Ever since Nintendo unveiled its new videogame console, players have fantasized about the possibility of an original Star Wars game in which the Wii remote would effectively become a Jedi's lightsaber. It's taken publisher Ubisoft much longer than expected, but on Tuesday it revealed that it is indeed working on a project that will make use of Nintendo's controller in exactly that fashion. A Wii iteration of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will, according to the company, give players "... the chance to live out their fantasies by wielding the Wii remote as a lightsaber while using the nunchuk controller to torment foes with their Force powers." Sold. The Force Unleashed has already been announced and previewed for next-generation systems, but today's news marks the first mention of a Wii build. In a twist, gamers star as Darth Vader's secret apprentice as he attempts to rid the galaxy of Jedi in a story set between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. "The Wii is a great platform for The Force Unleashed, because the console's motion-oriented controllers really bring the game to life," said Jim Ward, president of LucasArts. "We've worked hard to make the Wii version of the game unique in order to truly let you unleash the Force." The Wii build of The Force Unleashed is in development by Krome Studios and is set for release during 2008's spring season. The game will add an exclusive duel mode in which "players can compete head-to-head with their friends to determine the ultimate Jedi Master."

Surrender your flesh now, or you will soon face the same fate as the gorrilas! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070912...ngered_gorillas In the last 10 years, Ebola is the single largest killer of apes. Poaching is a close second," said Peter Walsh, a member if IUCN's Primate Specialist Group, told the AP. "Ebola is knocking down populations to a level where they won't bounce back. The rate of decline is dizzying. If it continues, we'll lose them in 10-12 years." Take note of that Cave Monkeys... you have been warned.
