  so today's the first day i tried out CR2 live and the first time i logged in after patching this morning everything was fine. coded new clothes, did some crits, some pvp. logged out. i just logged in again after logging out this afternoon and my abilities were all ca-raaaazzy. i logged in and the first thing i do is put up evade shield and i get a system message that i don't have that abil loaded, even though i logged out with it loaded and according to my action menu (O) i do. hmm. i go to a HL and i check what abilities i do have loaded and things get even fishier. even though i logged out as full duelist with a little bit of spy, maxed to 100 memory with that, my ability tree tells me i have random hacker and doctor abilities loaded, in addition to more random spy abilities... and none of these abilities have their prerequisites loaded?

i tried unloaded everything but the abil tree just freezes up and after a while it closes on its own. i'll try to log in again now (i had to alt-F4 out since the cursor wouldn't select anything and i couldn't type) and see if i still have it.

  on the revolutions bonus disc there was talk of interlock dog grooming and i have to say i'm still v disappointed it was never implemented. :robotsad:

i am totally on board with u re: the near impossibility of implementing cars but i do have to say that in a magical world of no developing/resource constraints cars would make a lot more sense than inexplicably hyperjumping from place to place in plain view of crowds of bluepills.

  assassin is a subbranch of the spy tree, along with master knife thrower, master shadow and somewhat inexplicably, data miner.

which branch u chose to go into depends on wot yr interests are. assassins make stealth attacks that initiate interlock and do damage and in many cases cause states. master knife throwers attack from out of interlock with knife attacks that also do damage and cause states. master shadows are adept at moving from place to place unseen and eventually, untouchably, and data miners find data node leaks in the matrix and use advanced tools to mine $info from them.

if u intend on going into knife throwing, u will need to concentrate on yr FOCUS attribute. in fact focus will also help yr stealthiness in general, which will be useful for all spy branches. PERCEPTION will increase the damage u do as an assassin and will also help u spot other spies before they spot u.

if u want to continue being a martial artist as well, u should probably stick to assassin and work on yr perception attribute, since going knife thrower will make it necessary to split attribute points between perception and focus.

  i would love that. i think we all agree that that is really wot the essentials of sniping boils down to... laying in wait for long periods of time, hidden, biding yr time, lining up the shot, waiting, waiting... BOOM. MASSIVE DAMAGE.

well, except that i really do miss seeing my rolls a lot, although not just in interlock but everywhere. i wish i understood why devs wanted to hide rolls.

hmm. to be able to code an article of clothing u have to have decompiled it first to "learn" the code. as u decompile more and more clothes, yr "code library" will grow and then u will find apparel maker quite useful.

i know :robottongue: ideally imo they would be free, free as the wind, but there would be some kind of timer system where u could only respec maybe once a month. or every two months. but 200k is teh silly.

having just started playing around with the spy tree this weekend i have to agree to the general sense of bewilderment and possibly forward my own sense of disappointment and worry about this spy tree revision. i really hope they just either screwed up or threw things together with the intention of straightening out the spy branches in an upcoming update. but i'm worried they actually thought they had a cogent plan.

1. original MKT, master assassin and master shadow abilities now distributed haphazardly between the three branches. as someone noted upthread, given the greater flexibility to load multiple branches, any spy could have multibranched abilities without the confusing and nonsensical hodgepodging of abilities that CR2 inexplicably set up. let the MKT branch be solely about knife throwing, let master assassin branch be about assassin moves, let master shadow branch be about stealth and infiltration, not misplaced assassin attacks.

2. the nerfing of the MKT "killer" combo. honestly, i never had much of a problem with MKTs in live. with a sensible amount of DR, normal MKTs could never land enough knife throws to ever kill me. certainly without the aid of the analyze weakness tool, which has also been nerfed to hell in CR2, never. allowing for the what i will still maintain was an unnecessary rebalancing, the state of MKT now in CR2 is absolutely silly. a subduing throw with a stun that doesn't last long enough for an MKT to reachieve the sneak state now necessary for staggering throw makes MKTs completely worthless. i would suggest removing the sneak requirement. furthermore, as it appears (until all the clothes have been switched over i suppose i can reserve judgement but going by the general CR2 philosophy of making clothes less essential i would guess this will be the case) all players will have to wear armored clothing, there won't be any more super RCT (rather, thrown accuracy) MKTs running around and as far as i can tell so far, most players' thrown accuracy wouldn't even be gd enough to let them chain together combos enough to be a threat to other players.

3. analyze weakness. did it really need nerfing? no. is it worthless in its current state? yes. in its original form it was a novel and singular aspect of combat where a single player changed a combat relationship with another player to the exclusion of any other players. how cool was that? in its current form it's just a crappy buff.

4. this may fall under the general "why did you scramble up all the abilities between the three trees?" complaint but why is punt suddenly the strongest assassin attack? nevermind the persistent WWF style of all assassin attacks, why is the purely comedic kick to the groin now the deadliest move?

5. after all these arguably unnecessary changes, why can a L1 mob still detect a L50 master assassin with max sneak?

6. terminology suggestion, if "thrown" will refer to everything spy related, why not call it "stealth" or "spy" instead? it makes a little more sense for a MKT knife attack to base off of "stealth accuracy" and "stealth damage" than for an assassin interlock like reverse bulldog attack (that one, at least, is still in the assassin branch, right?) to be based off of "thrown accuracy."

when u die in a mission, before u reconstruct use /hardline and that will be closest hardline to yr mission. :robotvery-happy:

  uh oh, time to eat yr words, i do in fact spend time on the PE server with both my 50 and my lowbie running missions and fighting npcs.

i almost in fact agree with most of the points u present in this post. CR2 is clearly here to stay and ppl who care about the fate of this game should do wot they can to make sure it goes in right.

i just disagree with being a *CENSORED* when u talk to ppl who don't like CR2. i'm sure u really convinced some ppl with that attitude. \m/

  ya it is a pretty minor cosmetic feature.. in terms of the fiction though i would think that the operator would stick with the crew, so presumably the operator u got when u started out with zion would be different from the operator u had if u were thereafter recruited into a merv or machine crew.

having zee as an operator would have been coo. i think someone on the operator customisation thread showed that perhaps by tinkering with the innards of the system folders u could actually switch her image with the link image. (and really how weird is it that "link" is yr operator when u go merv or mach?

(and not the general, wot kind of pro exile creates and distributes exile kill codes?) and the oracle doesn't appear to really have the right sort of powerbase to support an organisation.

Yes this is the case but there are reasons to work on behalf of the exiles (a bit like fighting for human rights etc) to which working for the Merovingian himself would be contrary (as hes a mafiosa style figure in many ways).
