Well, I'd whistle for a cab, and when it came near, The license plate would say "fresh" and it'd have dice in the mirror If anything I'd probably say that this cab was rare, But then think "Nah forget it.... Yo home to Bel Air."
I'd pull up to the house about seven or eight, and I'd yell to the cabbie "Yo homes, smell ya later." Then look at my kingdom, cuz' I was finally there, To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air.
So to answer your question... probably endlessly bemoan it's loss even if I move along to Star Trek Online or Age of Conan. Still, it wouldn't be the same. MxO is a rare gem in the MMO world, and it'd be sad to see it go.

Any Machinists, Cyphs or Merovingians on Syntax interested in probably a 1 on 1 (unless any other Syntax Zion captains want to step up and join me) this Tuesday or Saturday (23rd or 27th)... I'd like to leave the challenge out there, and can do most any time on either of those days if we can get a co-ordinator.

Now that's a killer idea. If they could work it into appearing on the /details screen, that would be fantastic.

Man, I really hope they don't screw this thing up.
Ah, another Star Trek lit fan. Yeah, Titan is a great series... and in fact all of the book "relaunches" have shown that these series, characters, etc. all had plenty of life left in them... but the folks behind the scenes just ran out of the ideas and talent to do something decent with them. The DS9 Relaunch series in particular is just fantastic. In fact, the books have also come out with several new crews and series that have done quite well and been successful and different. Why is Paramount so bankrupt for ideas that they need to recast and "reimagine" the original series and characters?
All that having been said, I hope it's good and I hope it's respectful and fits into the universe in a proper and coherant way. Mostly, I hope it doesn't suck. I've not left a theater so mad as I did when I left Nemesis and proceeded to tell the line outside how I felt, and to not waste their money.

Yeah, I was fine with that. He looks the part and seems to have the acting chops to pull it off. As well as the new Uhura being Zoe Saldana.
These new ones are a bit out of left field. Add that to my general iffyness about the idea of a prequel movie, and I'm still very much on the fence about this flick.

Serves or served... I guess it doesn't make much sense to have him talking about it at all. There's no truce now, so why bring it up?
When I read it, I took "served" as... "When they agreed to the truce, it showed they were weak" not "Remember that truce that's past? It showed they were weak."
Maybe it's a nitpick, but for information NPCs for newbies it seems like it could be clearer as to the status of the truce.

So I just happened to say howdy to Agent Benson over by Tabor West and he seems to think that the Truce is a sign of Zion's weakness. I found that a weensy bit odd, since the Truce has come and gone. Perhaps the devs might want to take a look at changing his dialogue there.
Got me thinking... any other informational NPCs, collectors, etc. that have outdated talk of the truce now gone? Maybe get a little list going of stuff that needs tweaking?

There's a lot to do.. keep your eyes and ears open.
Mission contacts, mission archives, constructs, parties, neighborhood hideouts, collectors.... not to mention live events and all the mission content. Find these things and do them and get involved with other players. Get as complete an experience as you can. Grinding out 50 isn't everything... always remember that!

I like it! Not sure about the ending, it's sort of an abrupt switch to the Oracle and unnecessary. I would've just faded to the logo after Morpheus gets it.
Or maybe fade to black with the drum beats and then fade up the logo. *shrug* Otherwise, I liked it a ton. Great work.

Yeah I was thinking about this too. How could the new players catch up with the storyline. You know when you install the game, and log in for the first time, Commander Lock gives you a voice message. I thought they could update that message with every chapter. Maybe it will be a bit long for Lock to tell everything what happened, but that would be the quickest way for the new players i think. So the message only tells us now, that Morpheus has fallen and that The Truce is still in progress, which is not true. So they could make something about this I think. The rewards aren't the only thing Archival Missions are good for.
In my post, I said that the archives are great... but there's a whole lot of them and I think that you do need something a bit... simpler and more direct for people who liked the films, maybe read the comics or saw Animatrix but feel three years behind on story and find the prospect of playing hundreds of Archival Missions a bit daunting to get some idea of where the story is at currently. I'm not saying hand everything on a silver platter per say, but there was a TON of material before MxO released bringing people up to speed with the neighborhoods, characters, etc. and now there's not for somebody that's maybe a casual player and doesn't have time to play every archive mission but still wants to get into the game. This is especially true of people on a trial, or playing as part of their SOE package. Once they have a bit of a bearing as to what's going on and whatnot, they can start to dig into the archives to find out the whole story.
The cinematics seem disjointed and confusing when not put into context by the criticals, etc. At least a document or something that provides them some context would be helpful.
*shrug* Maybe it's too much work for too little reward, but again, I'm just thinking of the casual or new player.

In my experience, Syntax is *the* place for RP... with Recursion a close second.
I'm sure others would either agree or disagree with me, but I'd like to put in my vote for Syntax as good place with excellent RPers, a good amount of intriguing player events, and overall a good bunch of people. Overall, MxO has a nice collection of such people on all servers (Vector less, due to it's "hostile" nature), and I think you'll find helpful people and folks interested in playing most everywhere.
All that having been said, WELCOME! Don't take some the negativity you might come across on the forums as an indicator of the community or the fun you can have with the game. There's a bunch to do, the story is really going interesting places, and things now more than ever have a polish to them (especially for guiding new players and giving them things to do) than ever before. Make sure to talk to the NPCs when you first enter the Matrix and they should be able to get you going.
If you do end up on Syntax, I'm phrogXIX and I am more than willing to answer any and all questions if I'm on. I always enjoy helping new players out. If you end up choosing a different server, you can contact me at Syntax.phrogXIX instead. You can use /ca to "contact add" me or anyone else to your buddy list and /t to tell them something.
Enjoy.

Very good, epic and "Matrixy" feeling. One of the better cinematics in awhile, and one that is really pushing us into a new and different place. Seeing Zion destroyed really hit home for me, having been so impressed and awed by it when it first appeared in Reloaded. It was built up hugely in the original film, was the place that Tank and Dozer wanted so badly to get back to. The seat of humanity for quite awhile, and there it is... laid to waste.
I do hope we see New Zion in a cinematic soon.
Other things I'm thinking about....
Mystery Man does seem to pretty clearly control the display screen with his hand. Mystery Man is surrounded by little robots crawling about... interesting. They make a pretty clear point of highlighting that fact. The footage of Neo and Deus Ex Machina he watches would've had to been recorded by the Machines, no? How'd he get ahold of it... and what's his interest? What's so "interesting" that perhaps we haven't seen before or didn't get out of that scene when originally viewed in Revolutions?
The Merv and Persephone stuff is interesting, if somewhat vague. If it's tied into the rest of the cinematic, I'd love to know how... and if not... what was the point there? Just to show strain in their relationship and Persephone's renewed interest in the concept of love?
Very quality, and I like where this is heading. Definetly getting a sense that something big is coming, and judging from Rarebit's comments about changing the status quo of the Matrix universe and how we interpret it.... I think that's not far off.
Thumbs up from me.

Not that I'm volunteering, but there is a significant need for a complete and concise way for new players to catch up on the storyline when playing. Preferably in a narrative form with appropriate links to event recaps, images, etc.
At least something that could be pasted into an email and sent to new players we come across in-game or something that brings the story up to date with allusions to key points that may get glossed over in, say, the wiki entry (LESIG story threads/events, Sarah Edmontons stuff, etc.) that will help bring them completely into the game and it's storyline flow. We're getting to the point where when a friend asks me what happened from the end of Revolutions till now, and it's hard to know where to start that's best.
This would be key once a perma-trial is rolling. I know that they can get into the archive missions for a lot, but they need to have a reason to get involved enough to know about said missions.

After a little testing, it's definetly whenever the mission has a specific locale in Richland. Whether it be meeting Kalt or interrogating the Effectuator in Tabor, it chokes. Then I have to leave mission team and restart it in Richland to get it back.
I believe it used to just give you the mission waypoint wherever it wanted you to be and the distance would be ridiculous... yeah? Now it's just irritating because you don't know where to be before it breaks.
I, and I'm sure others, really don't like missioning in Richland. It's repetitive and laggy in a lot of the popular spots. Really repetitive after awhile. I'm fine with being there when the storyline dictates, but surely it can be worked out where I can mission in Downtown or Int'l and when I see a "Closest Hardline is Tabor W"... go there. I really seem to remember it doing that before.

Hey all as was reported recently that some or many people get the "my connection is freaking out" message when they try to start an archive mission. Now most of these missions can be done anywhere while a few are district specific. However I need some help looking into this because they all start fine for my team and me. So I would like some specific information about what is happening around this problem. - Where were you? do a /whereami and distict?
- What is your rep for all 3 orgs when it occured?
- Which mission is giving you this problem?
- Have you completed any mission previously during the current login?
- Were you on a team previously?
And add anything else you might think will help to repro this problem. If nothing else I can visit live and give it a try. Thanks all for the help. Pretty much anywhere out of Richland, if I start a Archive it won't let me. (Which absolutely sucks, because I vastly prefer to mission downtown). It's really frustrating.
Here's the one I just had:
Rep: 126, Min, Min Sector: 651, Group: 21, Area: 65535, Zone: 65535 This has happened with the Mech archives that I've been doing. I'm currently on 3.3.2 I've done nothing mission-wise prior to running this, nor was I on any team.

Put them in the fight clubs and dojos. These areas are clearly marked, have vendors that reflect their status as a fight club/dojo, and are already setup to be an underground or at least obvious, non-obnoxious and out of the way fighting area.
Even if you don't do all of them... put one in a district and plop an NPC down at the entrance that has a warning or something. I know it's not as big as the areas now, but c'mon. It's a compromise.

There are LOTS of things I can think of that might bring people back. I've had these ideas in my head for VERY LONG time. More consistent, longer live events with more Character interaction Completely revamp the PVP system, a idea would be to bring in some obtainable rewards for points, ranks or items. Or make the rewards require CQ points! Melee weapons would be a fantastic idea, samurai swords ftw, or maybe just plain Knuckledusters " /> Maybe introduce a entire new tree for melee weapons, or a sub-tree from MA or something. Nerf MKF!, buff some of the other trees, balance them out, some new animations for some abiltys maybe. Maybe some new Zones to go to, maybe the Freeway "I thought you said stay off the free-way, you said it was Suicide", I mean in that quote there just imagine how much could be there, agents spawning everywhere in cars " /> Just some Ideas Melee weapons is a dead topic at this point... and I'm not going into why. Just use the Search function.
However, the idea of using CQ to buy things is a good one. Age of Conan is introducing a PVP-based monetary system called blood coins which you use for just this kind of system/idea. You can only get them through PVP and you can buy stuff that helps PVP. Rarebit could probably comment on the feasability of such a concept, since it wasn't build into the system initially.. but it would be a good concept.
New areas? Meh. Don't count on it just now. While the freeway doesn't SEEM like a hard thing to do (use existing road and wall textures, send traffic along it)... when you're strapped for resources (employees, money) stuff like creating it and testing it and integrating it become difficult.
Besides, isn't there at least one or two existing unused constructs still sitting somewhere? " />
Regardless, any news on an eventual release of the free trial would be superb.... or this launcher or whatever. The story is really the best it's been since launch imho, now's the time to start dragging people back and getting new people involved.

My reaction to a perma free trial is two fold...
Thank God and *CENSORED* took SOE so long to get around to it?
I could never figure out why so many other games had such programs yet MxO, the one game that really needs it and would benefit in a large way from it didn't. I'm back from some time off as well, and I have to say.. with the storyline, new gameplay elements (collectors, items, etc.) things are looking up and I remain confident that with some more exposure and the ability for potential subscribers to come in and try the game out, we could see quite a few stick around and replenish the population around here.
Once it's in place, we really as a community will need to spread the word of it. Too bad SOE can't come up with some sort of a referral reward program or something.

So I've been flipping through my radio dial here and .... man.. nothing works. Save for Split Infinity, it seems as if everybody has packed up shop and left town. MMO Radio is dead thanks to what I understand was quite a fine, Exile Radio Network, my old DJing home seems to be six feet under... Radio Megacity doesn't seem to want to work... TheX domain is no longer there...
Has this important and unique part of our culture here all but died? If so, why? Anybody know the stories behind these stations taking the dive? Are there any new ones, or old ones that have remained?
At least SI is still around and kicking.... but it used to be nice to have a real sense of a live, active radio community where you could turn the dial to find some music you liked and a DJ you preferred.

Well, as you might've guessed from the title.... I am currently on the hunt for a copy of Blipper and the blip files that up until recently could be found at http://mxo.classless.net/blipper/ .....
I re-installed and re-subbed recently and lost my old pblip.cfg and could really use to track ol' Blipper down for stuff like dishes and bosses.
Thanks.
Anybody else remember this?
