...after we all got into our rubber suits and had that big brawl with the machines in downtown, did anything else happen, event wise? or was that the whole event? just curious, as i couldn't keep my eyes open any longer and collapsed in a heap or whatever.

the full transcript of what she said is pretty dazzling in its stupidity, and the fact that she completely failed to recognise someone might be, you know, offended by it. sooo.....anyone out there watching this televisual wallpaper? or not?

...and the surprise is, for paying more money to download DRM free songs, you're exchanging one form of insidious monitoring for another. the music has been found to contain your account information (in the form of name and email address), which means its a lot easier for record companies to discover who is putting songs on P2P networks. by the same token, the data encoded into the MP3 may well be easily tampered with, which means wrong people could be getting served with legal fun and games. of course, the more advanced user will no doubt try to strip out the info but as yet, theres no word as to whether doing that will cripple the music files.

so, will you be using it? or not?

A long time ago on some other forum, I posted something along these lines:

the assistant art director for the matix (michael turner) stated that the machines actually built Zion, and the clues were all there (ie the walls full of pasted over bullet holes in reloaded that would be remnants from previous wars, or how the design of the sleeping quarters in zion are like an inverted, inside-out version of the rows of pods from the fields). if true then in effect Zion is a matrix, though not a digital one....its a real world prison as fake as anything else in the war of man v machine. I'm really intrigued by the whole idea of manipulating the humans to the extent that even the physical world and the history surrounding the Zionites is a complete phallacy. Any takers?

...has this ever been mentioned anywhere since (ie in game), or does anyone know anything else about this theory being expanded upon outside of MxO?

Cause I gotta say, since the landslide of new liaisons, I'm getting to plenty. I took part in 3 this week thanks to liaisons keeping me informed and answering straight "is something going on" questions with straight "yes or no" answers, and that's not including the extra, non-live-event-but-still-relevant stuff the liaisons put on like meetings, and related-to-main-plotline LESIG events (like the ongoing hoohah between BloodlustV and Novalux etc).

Its pretty awesome.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has noticed a general increase in the amount of "stuff" they're suddenly wandering into since the liaisons appeared.

Logged in, went "ooooh" for a bit, ran around then gave up. dunno if its just me, but my eyes feel like they've been jabbed with knitting needles. anyone else feeling the burn?

so there I am, doing a critical and (while low on health) I happened to go stand in the corridor. usually when NPCs run off to 0,0 they do it when you're otherwise engaged like fighting or whatever - this time, the door opened while i was hanging round outside and four or five NPCs stroll out, single file, right past me and down the stairs. i followed them out, shot at them while they carried on with their march before they arrived at a building about 150m away. they went inside, opened up the lift and....completely vanished. i checked all ten floors, and they were gone.

this building wasn't at 0,0 either. just some seemingly random place.

seen that happen before?

1) The upcoming "return of the Smith virus" - can anyone fill me in with a link or something with regards what this was about originally and how it tied into the game? I did some searching but didn't come up with anything useful.

2) mobius code. seems like a hot item to have, apparently. yet all it seems to do is give me 100 (or thereabouts) HP back when i use it. also, i can't actually recall where i got it from originally. can someone fill in the blanks with this too?

I was under the impression that the three servers all have independent stories going on (with regards to the "main" story) and the live events on each server were not connected to each other in any way. is this the case, or is the same story applicable to ALL servers, and its just that each bit of the whole thing just rolls from server to server so everyone gets a chance to do some live event stuff? because if thats the case, all I've been reading is the live event stuff for Syntax.....

okay, I want to put some frap-generated files on youtube. as you likely know, it doesn't accept standard frap avi files soooo.....any suggestions for a decent converter, and what kind of size / scale / all that garbage I should set my files to? i tried using quicktime files with camtasia (as the windows media files were shockingly poor) but the quality ain't great with those, either:

...wait, the whole point of a phishing site is to.....ask for your password on their official looking Station site imitation. I could see the kind of people who this advice is intended for in the first place being vaguely confused by this.

"oh look, this site MUST be official because its asking for my password....and that thing on the matrix site said only official sites ask for this info...."

Well, as some of you know, I was here from the uk launch, had a blast at first then watched the game slide ever downwards and at the time of the SOE handover, I was so disillusioned with the game I binned it off in disgust. What a great game, and what a great concept - completely shafted!

bah.

i returned just under two months ago, and I consider myself an extremely tough person to please - especially second time round, and especially as I was coming back expecting (at the very least) some wide ranging changes.

well, congrats - you did it, and I'm STILL here with my second month about to run out and I'm happy to let the sub roll into the third. Considering the wariness I felt coming back, experiencing a lot of problems that were still around from the first time I played and the fact that the live events were kind of stretched due to *everything* being down to one dude with what seems like fifty thousand arms - you did it. I'm still here, and I still want to play and see what happens next. Thats pretty awesome going, guys SMILEY

with the re-emergence of the LESIG thing, thats an even better incentive to keep playing - and though since my return I'm still yet to see a single event going on, meh - I'm sure I'll run into one eventually so no big deal.

Anyway....that's about it. Congrats - if it was ever an objective to retain someone who experienced things first time round, left in disgust and came back expecting some pretty awesome stuff to keep them playing, you did it. This definitely bodes well for the games future, assuming someone, somewhere in SOE decides to allocate some money to marketing the game.

i keep seeing these things going down in the live events section, and they do look fun - however, i never seem to see any liasons online (of the merv variety on syntax) and so never know whats happened until its, uh, happened.

do specific factions in the game tend to get the majority of the events, is it first come first served, total luck of the draw or something else? just wondering what i can do to (vaguely) increase the likelyhood of showing up at these things. of course, i'm based in the UK but tend to work late so thats not a problem.

...just fired up mxo - got the message saying patch required, restart etc.

an error box popped up saying error: if you have matrix.exe in your folder, plase make sure it was writeable.

the login box then vanished.

i checked...it was writeable.

fired it up again and now its downloading the update anyway.

anything to worry about?

I almost didn't get to return to MXO because of the horrendous experience I had with that website. never before or since have I had as many problems simply trying to give someone my money.....the accursed thing just would not *do* anything. being able to register, login etc was a complete lottery. Well, I'm trying to get into the site now and after you put your login dets in the popup box....nothing. It just vanishes and leaves you staring at the not-logged-in page. Anyone else have issues with the Station sites reliability? Its not always like that, is it?

just wondered who else out there writes about mxo stuff on their blogs or whatever. Googling them up brings back very little, but there must be people out there writing about the stuff in game and other general happenings.

...from looking back at older posts, it appears the Neo RSI was put back in game at some point. My question is, is it still floating about in a basement somewhere or did they take it back out again? and if it is still ingame, anyone know where it is?

Just wondering...although I can't get them working at the moment anyway, its something nice to think about should they lurch into life for me.

Okay, so I stayed up till 3AM to attend the new years party. so sue me SMILEY

and wow...what a party it was. ive never seen so many people ingame at the same time since, well, probably the neurophyte live event. some people do weekly parties or whatever in certain clubs but hardly anyone turns up. yet its obvious theres a demand for big events like the one held last night, and with enough advance notice and planning, you can jam about six zillion people in one of those clubs. okay, slight exaggeration but you get the idea.

im sick of seeing three or four people max in a district and empty nightclub after nightclub. seems to me the community here is as strong as its ever been, and thats coming from someone who left just before the handover. i'm curious - why aren't there huge expressions of that community ingame as often as there probably should be? its a real shame if we can only muster a massive event like that once or twice a year, and only then because its "new years" or "xmas" or whatever. kudos to the chariots of fire - they pulled a blinder with their party and it was awesome.

im sure we could potentially have parties like this (with a little effort) at least once a month. i dunno...seeing that club jam packed with people all having a good time and interacting reminded me of the first month of so when the game launched. to be honest, its something i wasn't sure i would see in game again but that feeling is still definitely in there. it just needs coaxing out SMILEY

Sorry, I can't grab the name of it because the client is currently crashing all the time. its not the first silver / mercury / whatever his name is mission, its the second one. where you grab some information from a laptop, then reach your destination, beat up a couple of goons and a twin is there, standing next to a dead body. if you tak to him, he says something like he couldn't just sit around doing nothing and your operator says theres "nothing strange about him" or words to that effect. each time i've attempted the mission, when you get to the part with the twin, the game fails to realise youve killed everyone (theres two mission objectives, search the location and eliminate hostiles. however, you can achieve neither).

anyone else had this? i feel like i'm having flashbacks to 2005.

I just noticed something is missing from the homepage. since i started coming back here, theres been a small graphic with something like "find out whats new in matrix 2.0". however, clicking it would just loop you back to the homepage and now its gone, i am curious what it was supposed to be about? is it something that was put up by accident or something else?
