Ok, nothing is set in stone, and I am definitely going to need a hand with this, but I was thinking of starting up a series of events called, you guessed it, Warfare. The basic premise would be that Megacity is split up with each neighbourhood being controlled by either the Merv, the Mechs or Zion. Each week, one zone will be contested, either through a challenge or a "random" occurance and the team who wins would retain/gain control of a neighbourhood. The would be reflected in a map that is at the beginning of the thread. Challenges could be issued by any org to any org that they share a border with. Random occurances could be something like, "a courier is moving through an area, take him out to establish dominance in that neighbourhood" or "Machines are testing a new prototype, attack the stronghold and retrieve prototype to take control of that neighbourhood" (the later could be done with a lug easily).

What I need a hand with is this. How should the map be split up initially? I wanted Richland to remain neutral, but it doesn't have to, but if it does, its not fair to just give a district to each org, because in terms of both number of neighbourhoods and area they are disproportioned, ie. Downtown is much bigger than the others districts. From the images I have found with a scale intact, it appears that westview is smallest, then international and then downtown being the biggest at least in terms of square footage (or whatever the scale was in, as it was unitless).

My proposed initial breakdown is as follows. Zion controls Westview, as well as Edgewater, Vauxton and South Vauxton. The Merovingian controls International, as well as Stratford Campus. The Machines control the rest while Richland remains neutral. Each org would have one area that cannot be taken, a stronghold of sorts. The Machines have Park East, The Merovingians Sai Kung, and Zion have Sorba Shores.

Made a quick pic of it in paint using the only shot I could find with all the districts. Keep in mind the scales differ for each district.

Again, just a thought, looking for feedback.

Now, I might be the only one, but I really like the scripted bullet time camera, my only problem with it is that it allways seems to be zoomed in a little too close to the action. Is there a way to change this in useropts or through some other means, just so I can see the action a little better?

I can't help but get excited about this MMO. I know it seems like every effing company wants to make an MMO but this one seems to be unique. I can't say I've read any of the books its based upon but it seems promising.

Alright, so after taking part in numerous HvCFT battles, I got thinking about the other aspects of this war. Why not have something similar but make it for pvp. Set up a time and a place, and have two teams that flag and go at it. There could be multiple types of battles too.

Frontline:
The two teams go at it at any given battlefield. There is a battle coordinator that chat logs the whole event in order to keep track of the kills. PvP begins and takes place for a set amount of time. After the battle finishes the coordinator tallies up who killed what and gives points accordingly in a database similar to the HvCFT one thats been set up right now. This would not have a clear winner but is rather a pre-arranged PvP brawl between two groups.


Escort:

One member of a group must make it to a certain place within a time limit. Both groups would know the in general where this final location is, but would not know the exact place. In order to win they would have to locate the Battle Coordinator and remain with them for a certain amout of time.

Alternative

One member would have to make it to a series of checkpoints while crossing a district and cannot die once. This would require more people to help the organizer or would be settled by taking a screenshot with a timestamp to ensure they made it there. Only by hitting all the checkpoints before getting to the final destination can they be declared a winner. They wouldn't need to stay at the final destination for any period of time.

Strategic Defense:

One team must have control of a certain area at the end of a time limit, which in this case means having the largest number of operative occupying it at the end. Alternatively, it could be timed and the BC present would stand as a judge for who had the greatest control over it.

For all of these the main problem I see is people who didn't sign up showing up to play and just flagging anyways.

But yeah, any thoughts?

  Alright, so I've just started using the Sims and Proxies on a regular basis and I had afew questions.

1. How does the damage get calculated for the Detonate Proxy ability? It doesn't really have any numbers attached to it. Does it do more damage based upon the amount of HP left in the proxy, or is it more depending the proxy level? Or is it static, and if so, why isn't that noted in the abilit like all other abilities?

2. Anyone ever thought this ability needed to look a little more explosiony?

3.What kind of damage does this ability do? I assume viral. Does it effect players and NPCs alike or just other sims?

I don't know why I am hung up on this ability. I guess I just think the idea of essentially a remote bomb is badass.

  Ok, so I know that I have dropped some of these before but I wanted to put it all together and make it a little more streamlined. Some are more complete than others but like any suggestion, I am looking for the communities thoughts on any of these. Here goes...

Steelle’s MxO Ideas

1. FFAPVP Luggable/ UNLIMIT Luggable


• The luggable grants the following buffs to the carrier.
- All Damages +10pts
- All Accuracies +15pts
- All Resistances +20pts
• The luggable downgrades the carrier as follows.
- Movement speed reduced 20%
-Automatically flagged FFAPVP
• A green lightning bolt much like seen used by the Unlimit would strike the individual carrying the luggable at 1 minute intervals, doing no damage but indicating their location to nearby players.
• Anyone using the ability “Detect Luggables” would have a blue indicator show up on their map revealing the carrier location.

Notes: This luggable essential super buffs the carrier so that it would require multiple same level players to take them down. Anyone attacking them would also flag for FFAPVP, allowing those who attack the carrier to double cross each other in order pick up the luggable once it has been dropped. There would be one luggable per district.

2. Field Commander Luggable


• The luggable grants the following buffs to the carrier.
- Close Combat Evasion +60%

• The luggable downgrades the carrier as follows.
- All Resistances -15pts
-All Defense -10 Pts
-Flagged for PVP

• When equipped the luggable grants an area buff to the carrier’s team with the following characteristics.
- Effective radius of 15m
- Grants All Damages and resistances +10Pts to any team mates within effective radius.
-Flags all team members for PVP

• The visual effect would be glowing red code that floats up from the entire effected area, appearing in 15 second intervals.
Notes: This luggable essentially opposes the Unlimit Luggable, creating a well buffed team at the sacrifice of one individual. There would be one luggable per district.

So with the recent IR some players are expecting a new construct to be announced soon. This got me thinking about past discussions about constructs and how many of us thought DM might be a new district, which then got me thinking about how Rarebit mentioned once about this plan they had to have control points or something like that in the city that orgs could take over, but it never would have worked.

Could this same idea work in a new construct though, albeit in a much simpler way.

What if there was a new construct set up much like the original ones, where each orgs spawns at their own spot and the centre is the most important part, where a boss would be located. In this new one however there could be something in the centre that could be triggered (not sure what, but if it was just something that needed to be selected and activated, possibly only if you kill the boss) that would claim the construct in the name of the org that activates it. When this happens, all the spawns would be allied with that group, and possibly a visible change could happen, like a particle effect in a certain colour, or a different kind of sky for each org. Other orgs would need to then kill the boss and activate what he drops while the org that currently "owns" the construct is on the defensive.

Thoughts?

To me this doesn't seem like it would be that hard to implement. Its mostly just a matter of controling the spawns right?

Also, I was curious as to how people picture Blackwood. Do people actually see it as a forest, or an abandonned city, or a secluded castle/dungeon, or a highly advanced prison? Personally I think it would be cool to see a heavily wooded area. Could be really cool.

Who else is excited? I know some people didn't like the streamling of Deus Ex 2: Invisible War, but the story was solid and the gameplay and biomods were true to the original so this has me pumped. Also, if you love Deus Ex, check these out.

Alright. So its been a LONG time since I've really posted anything I've edited and what not. Mostly thats because after my first picture (The Life of Steelle) I really bit off more than I could chew with my next project and everything looked like crap. I decided to take some time and learn how to use the program a little better. So this thread is just to show a little progress that I have made.

First. Cuts and Blood.

 

If you look closely enough I tried to make it look like the cut is behind the glasses, as if he had put them back on, (That and the fact I haven't quite gotten the look of the broken glasses figured out yet, LOL) But yeah, done from scratch and the first time to an an MxO shot. Thoughts?

  Ok, so maybe I'm a little slow on this one and I don't know if it has been mentioned on DN1 or anything but anyways. That one shot where the guy is watching the battle taking place at Stalingrad on a TV screen reminds me of the way that the architect can watch what is going on in the matrix in his little construct or how in the real you can watch the matrix feed. The odd placement of what seems like the remains of something organic but not necessarily human, the lone person watching, I dunno, is it too late to think about the often hated Matrix within a Matrix idea? It just seems a little odd that there would be a camera feed of stalinggrad that someone in a chair is watching. And although maybe the recent merovingian event points more towards a possible attempt to control the pods, it also made me realize how little we know about the process to obtain power from humans in the pods. Maybe it's all just a very magnificent lie.

I have heard many people mention that they find that although PVP is fun, there is very little point to it. You attack someone because he is flagged and you can kill someone if they're flagged but there is no meaning behind the attack. This got me thinking. What if there was a way to setup up the map of Megacity with "territories" marked for each of the orgs. Then, as you PVP it could be for defending or expanding these territories. I'm not really sure how to keep track of the expansion of territories, although it would be easy to just have something like a control point, but it would be more interesting if it was somehow just based on the PVP kills of one faction versus the others.

Either way, I think something needs to be done to make PVP a little more worth while.

Thoughts?

  Neither of my three characters Asmundr on recursion and Steelle and MidnightSnack on Syntax can login. I get to the loading world screen and I can hear the "code sound" and then it freezes and I have to shut my computer down. Any help?

I was reading an old CGW magazine before MxO launched and it had a Paul Chadwick interview where he was vaguely talking about what was to come story-wise. Heres a list of things he said were coming:

-A citizen Kane examination of one of the films characters

- A murder mystery (hmm I wonder when that was)

- A matrix glitch/weather crisis that will blow your mind

- a story of someone born sensitive the matrix and assumes that those around her are fake as well, as is their pain.

- doorways to worlds outside of megacity where the physical laws are different

- Unregulated superpowers (Well thats right now) and the corruption that follows

- Persephone's obsession with love and how it is constantly thwarted.

 

Ok so some of those are pretty obvious...but others, even after reading over the storyline and watching the cinematics...well I can't quite figure out if they've happened or whatever. Any help would be very much appreciated.

  Ok this is gonna sound weird but, I am fairly new to the game so I dug up an old copy of PC Gamer that has a guide to getting started in the game, things to do to level up faster, places to see...yada yada yada... anyways. On one of the pages there is a code to type in to get a promotional item...I jacket with a burning eye, but the article is before the SOE transition. Is there anyway to still enter this code, because the link they tell you to follow doesn't exist.
