Its funny how SOE lowballs people.... I asked a question via Twitter for PODCAST 59 regarding MxO's representation at this year's Fanfaire, and whether or not we should go, and the circumstances on that particular podcast's release is suspicious. First it gets delayed and released on 4/13 when it was recorded on 3/25, then we are told that our tweets will not appear in that particular podcast, but rather in a later podcast. Well I have yet to see my question broadcast on ANY podcast that has been released since then. There were other questions that were tweeted via twitter that were broadcast, but how come my simple question could not be answered? You guys thanked me for my question on the SOE_PODCAST twitter page, but couldnt broadcast it? All you had to say was no MxO will not be represented because of the lack of support for the game at the moment. Ever hear of honesty? Some of us are adults and can take bad news.. I think here at The Matrix Online, we are used to disappointment and bad news.. Reason #1001 not to go to fanfaire...

I also want to apologize for being so negative, but do you blame me? Do you blame us? I invested my money for two years straight so that I could go to the SOE Fanfaire so I could represent my game. The treatment of our game, and ourselves as paying players is downright horrible. You hype up the the SOE Fanfaire on our very website, and expect us to be all "don't worry be happy" about it??? Stop insulting us. If you want to make us happy show us some honest to goodness support and love. W .T. F. is going on over there, that you ignore us so much!

This thread has evolved into a sad state. I still have no reason to attend this year. Nothing at all has been said about what is going to be expected for those who represent The Matrix Online. Not even a mention at an in game item. I mean how the hell can you hype us to go to this event when there isn't anything for us to do. Those of you who ARE going, please tell me why? What do you hope to accomplish by going? Honestly..... Besides meeting with friends, and taking in the sights, why would you go to an event that is not going to represent your game to the fullest? If anyone knows about dedication I do, but at this point what IS the point? No word from Walrus OR Virrago AT ALL regarding this. Oh and what of this rumor I heard that we WERE supposed to get a dev sometime in the near future? No facts to support this up till now.. A lot of questions, but no answers...

So far I've seen NOTHING that even remotely would interest me in going to this year's SOE Fanfaire. Was that Top 10 Reasons to go to Fan Faire 2009, that was posted on the main site supposed to be a joke? I still don't have any incentive to attend till I see something resembling respect for this game, but sadly I doubt it will happen....

Sure, that is true to a certain degree, BUT let's not forget the reason we met these people.. I want more MxO related love. I've been out there for 2 years straight, and it seems each year we get shafted more and more. Hell, Planetside got more love than we did the last few years, and thats saying a lot. Oh yeah, and BTW Tseng, I believe I saw you more at the bars last year than at most of the panels. So I believe your experience doesnt count for everyone SMILEY

Not sure.... A few things that I wanted to express before committing to this trip...

Make us feel welcome to the Fanfaire. Many of us are feeling pretty down about the state of the game. I mean the last few years I've had the feeling we we're kinda like the kid no one talks to as school when I attended. Have some sort of table/propaganda to show people the game exists still. Give us something to do in game while we are there. Host some sort of event that takes place during Fanfaire like the rest of the games that are represented. Give us a panel discussing the state of the game and any future plans. Give us something to talk about when we get back (Not talking about drunken stories from the hotel lounge either). Have the in game item something more that just cool to look at. How about some special stats on them? These are but a few small requests that I think are do-able on the part of those are in charge of putting events and panels together for this years fanfaire.

I will wait and see what happens and will leave my decision up to what is in store for those who will travel for the 3rd year to Vegas for this event.

No scavenger hunts! How about something MxO or at least Matrix related. Interesting panel discussions, and how about a BOOTH that says The Matrix Online with actual MXO devs there to meet and greet players? Dracomet and 9mmfu are still part of the team, and so is Walrus. They could be there to speak to us and at least give us some sort of hope for the future....

its comments like that , that cause the negative perseption of the game. that site of yours is just as bad, you just focus on whats wrong instead of showcasing the game. if you want a change then you need more subscribers. if you want more subscribers then your sales pitch shouldnt be heres a list of things we used to have while trying to pin the blame on lack of support. otherwise we would be in the club with Auto Assault, Tabula Rasa and The Sims Online long ago. who knows there is the posability that mxo operating costs might actually be getting subsidised by the station pass.

I could do without that comment as well Phrack. You don't play on Vector so you wouldnt know the ebb and flow of players who visit our home.

I am sorry but for two years straight I have sat back and seen how we've been treated by SOE each fanfaire. They could not afford us the respect of even a table for a small booth with a poster at least. Did you guys know that even our panel discussions rooms were named incorrectly and some people didnt even make it to some of the discussions because of this. I mean WTH is that?! I am tired of it, and I will be SURE to let them know about it. If you are going to vegas to represent The Matrix Online then we must be as subversive as our favorite movie's are. This is not a celebration, this should be a revolution!

BTW Virrago, I know you work for SOE and look out for their best interests, but can you not feel our pain and support the community and let our voices be heard properly?? Please don't censor us!

This is DEFINATELY doable. The problem is does SOE want to do this? I think we know the answer to that...

In the past escorts and teleports have been provided to events and meetings on Vector for those who find the hostile nature a problem. I am sure this can be provided this time around as well, provided we have enough volunteers to help with this.

If this is going to be a "community" thing, then they should be made aware and represented on all ends. The more people know the more will show up and contribute. I know Vector doesn't have the constant flow of people as say Syntax, or even Recursion at some points, but we still make up part of the community. Aren't we part of this "town?"
