I am sorry, but I do not know what be Neo. That is not my business. I do not want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone if possible- Zion, Merv, Epn, Cyph. But we all want to survive. Human Beings are like that. We want to live by each others' happiness, not by each others' misery. We do not want to hate and despise one another. This world has proven that there was room for everyone and the good Earth has been rich- and provided for everyone. The way of life could have been free and beautiful. But we have lost the way. Greed has poisoned your captains souls. Has barricaded your lowly populated ships with pride. Has goose-stepped its crews into desperation and genocide. We have developed freedom, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that has given us safety and security has left us without responsibility. Our knowlege has made us vicitimized, our quality of life is hard and unkind. You've thought too much and felt too little. More than Machinery, you've needed humanity. More than Quality, you have needed collaboration and cooperation Without these perspectives, your quality of live has been ruined and sooner or later- all will be lost. The ability simulate reality has secretly brought machines and humans closer together in living. The very nature of this invention cries out for universal unity and the goodness of men and women. Hopefully, my message is reaching to the thousands of operatives around this simulation. Thousands of men and women- victims of a human machine that make men torture and be imprisoned to systemic and logical law. For those that are still reading- do not despair. The misery that is within you is the passing of greed, hate and intolerance from the bitterness of humanity that fears the way of human progress. The hate of man WILL pass. And the custodians of such will die- and the power that was taken from people in time will be returned to the people. And so long as people like Neo die, the chance for peace will never perish. Soldiers, do not give yourself to brutes. Men who have despise you and and enslave you- that regiment your lives. Who have ordered you to think and feel about Suriving. Who have drilled you, dieted you on synthetic snot and have treated you like 6 month old batteries. Do not give yourselves to these men- Machine Men that unlike machines- have mechinial hearts. You are not a machine- You are not cattle- You are men and women with love and an affinity for humanity in your heart. You should not hate- only the unloved hate- the unloved and the unnatural. Soldiers, do not fight for liberty fight for EQUALITY. We the people have the power. The power to create Machines, the power to create peace and happiness, you the people have the power to restore this world to what it once was before the wars. But by the promise of these things Captains have risen to power- but they lie- they do not fufill that promise- They never will. Captains have risen up but still enslave their own people. Now, let us use that power- Let us fight for a new world. A decent world that was long and forgotten. Where Men had a chance to work, the youth had a future and old age had their security. Let us fight to free the world- to do away with no-fly zones, hate and intolerance. Let us fight for a world of reason where the Machines drive for progress will lead to everyone's happiness. Soldiers in the name of peace. Let us all Unite.

I was reading a the broadcast depth and some people think the idea of having difficult content is a terrible idea. From my own point of view. This game has really no goal oriented other than a few things which i am told are soloable. I do not like WoW because WoW- is easy. WoW is for kids, but WoW DOES have challenging content. If just buying hard to find gear-sitting at your auction window earning cash- dueling to test your skills. What does it all lead up to? What is it all worth? Raiding. I would like to know why players havent promoted raiding for this game. Compared to 9 dragons (ive gotten to lvl 65 as a healer) I really do not see a difference except im paying for this game instead of the other. For those that do not know what 9 dragons is. This is a Free to Play game that uses Kung Fu with the use of weapons and Chi Kung(Spells) and an assortment of weapons. Each have an assortment of quests as you level that are done solo. With a Bazaar/Market which most people "live" selling and buying. Back to my question. Why wouldnt you want to be involved in a raid party within the Matrix? You have all these factions that serve what purpose? A simple clique of players that trade gear to gear around to each other. And the upmost productivity a faction in this game does is- PvP. The members come together and assist each other in pvp (some actually do). Otherwise, you hold parties. Listening to music raffles and so forth. Those are player made events. Are there any players here that demand some Enviromental content to challenge them? If you cannot handle a raid. Is it the amount of Time you are able to put into the Matrix? There are Instanced Raids. SoE is a company that knows how to instance things and make it work. They can take casual gamers to that plane. It is possible. But what makes this game lack real hard content that makes you want to do it to help out friends. We farm missions. Archive Missions to be precise. Doing them over and over. What is the difference between that and a raid? Simply; you're relying on a team. Where as a team/crew/faction do you and your friends have their stengths. I honestly believe that with raid content within the matrix, factions will merge together, there would be more coordination between same org factions, communication, pvp guarding over real territory rather than hanging out at Mara C. Waiting for friends/Opponents. Seriously, does this community have desire to be a part of something special as a 20 man raid? 30? The path of the One was made by the many. Where are we going as a whole? Where have we been going when all we do is play by ourselves?

http://www.mmocrunch.com/2007/12/04...mmorpg-history/ I just found this link. This is about the biggest events that players remember in online gaming. I was there at the sleepers event. Killing the impossible. What will you, players of MxO be remembered for Off the top of my head, I can honestly say the Algorithm Black Team, has my vote if ever the greatest thing to ever happen to this game. We are in control of our own lives, and this team has taken the greatest amount of responsibility, patience, and mystery; mixed it all together and created something fantastic. Always remember to do the impossible.

This thread i'd prefer to keep the information here referring to the Operatives and players of Vector. I'm honestly tired of reading about stupid remarks about who is not a real operative or what you or someone else trying to jump into the event. If you really care. You will read every single post (trash or not) click every thread, website involved witht his event. http://www.algorithmblack.com/ .... http://www.algorithmblack.com/hidden.html http://www.youtube.com/user/AlgorithmBlack http://www.myspace.com/b_gauss http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.p...E95795738BC8BE8 http://www.algorythmblack.ytmnd.com As of Oct 21. These are the operatives created on the Vector instaces: 043,101,116,159,326,327,404,556,588,724,736,922
____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Broin (10/03) Just a short time ago a group of operatives appeared at Mara C on Vector... Their details showed them to be AlgorithmOperatives. They took a quick tour of Mara Central,Tabor West,Tabor Central. They jumped the subway to Camon C Hardline and then logged out. They appeared to be looking for something... Possible something wrong with the hardlines. Operative588 / Opeartive922 / Operative101 / Operative159 / Operative556 / Operative116 / Opeartive724 Warblade (10/11) I spoke with an Operative today that was listening in on Brian Gauss and I having a conversation.
She distinctively made mention of the Algorithm being a way to end this war. Of course, ending a war isn't always peaceful. It can be quite violent and disruptive. So far it appears from Mr. Gauss' perspective that there is a hacker group that excels in tampering with electricity. So far we don't know who is behind this, but there's an expectation that these operatives are like cultists to this Algorithm Black.
I am hopeful that this Algorithm can bring peace, but the past has told me otherwise. There's been a total of four blackouts or incidents thus far. Baldwin, Guinness, Camon, Guinness. Synapse777 (10/17) Operative736 sighted by Vector division at Mara Central. He wanted a portable dish moved into Tabor

The Oracle's Shell
What does it mean to have peace? To have a truce? It means that Two Parties have come to an understanding. A comprimise. This is ground zero yet again. In the beginning, this game started with a truce were many did not pretend to care about its' longevity. But now that superiors have returned to their state of War- the effort of our people must take on a more powerful role. There was an offer made with a sacrifice. I, JacksWastedLife and the crews of "The Oracle's Shell" are here to maintain this peace. To the Zion Captains, we come to aid you and uphold the peace that Neo and many more pushed and inevitably died for. We hope you will support our faction and maintain the idea that is still worth fighting for. We have made our choice. For those that will encourage this accord, Captains mark this movement with your praise.

I am here to clarify the thoughts in my mind. I am tired. Sick and Tired to that extent. Of You. I am Sick and Tired of fighting for You. When the funny thing is, you will not fight for yourselves. Just these past few days. The Major Factions of Zions that do populate the Mara Central Playground; You have ran away from the Mervs again and again. There are a few that stick around but really, the core of what you represent is crap. And yet everyday I assist you and it's smacked back at my face. Oh indeed. I am tired. The Zions have been r@ped so much in the past by the stick. That when someone offers a carrot- They are too far gone to accept this bit of hospitality. Instead, the idiocy (Yes Idiocy) of Red= Dead. To you it does not matter that someone is telling you, "Just because I am red, doesnt mean I am here to kill you." And due to the current times when people are pushing for FFA (No Org Events) Friends (Yes FRIENDS) will be relied on for TEAMWORK. In the past countless times you have seen the Merovingians and Machines work hand in hand to fight against Zion. If anything, they will be more prepared for these times than you (Zion) will be. Already alone Dark Evolution, Dark Mavericks, and Corrupt Souls work very solid together. But for you Zions.. I am tired of Assisting an Organization that has no Communication, Coordination, and better yet Comradary. Wake up. A new time for PvP is approaching when you may want to rely on others outside your Safety Zone of "Organization" PvP. I am not saying I am some sort of uber player. But like any additional team player, I bring something to the table. I don't care about your replies, since it's been made obvious that my efforts for YOUR team are of no concern.

Recently I have been putting my old school videos on Motiono Ive been doing this to save some of my memories before my Hard-drive suddenly dies. Ive just been amazed at the views that surround my videos. I do not know who they are but most of them are viewing MxO videos. So, I thank you for your minutes of patience and willingness to watch crappy versions of what were my eyes, ears, and most importantly- mouth. At the moment I am waiting for Age of Conan Beta, as well as Fury Beta (gotta have pvp). I will be running with some old comrades. Some may know of them- Deaths Imperial Entourage (DIE), led by Grayrage (Graraige/Grunter) who in the past is mostly noted as leader of Darkenbane in previous games. But again. I thank the viewers and hope you will keep an eye open for the shape of things to come. www.motiono.com/klav

While I am mildly drunk it came to mind that it is time to celebrate our losses to the MxO Community. For all the goodbye threads and the comebacks. For all the locked threads and their tire tracks. For all the lost members of our community. That place is my mind. Is that space that you call mine. I won't let you walk away, without hearing what I have to say. We have all put in our time; laughing dancing pvping. Some of us became movie gods and rock stars; some did not. Either way we all ended up in the same heap in the garden. We are dead because of each other and we are all friends. I declare this thread a dedication to the members of all Hostile Servers. Who have become fallen members of our team. It is time to chant names. You were there, and so was I. His name is Robert Paulson. And if there was anything you wish you could have done before ending your life in MxO, what was it.

SoE 's Everquest is promoting 2 new servers (The Combine) and (The Sleeper)
These servers will be progression servers that unlock characters's race and classes as well as the expansions ( starts with the first 3 continents and unlocks to kunark velious and so on).
The servers will be opening in 3 days. If you have your EQ titanium crap or any of your EQ discs you can reserve your name on the server before it goes live.
Although they are carebear servers. One guild in particular is making an aim to force pvp on the Sleeper server.
Inside the game there is an npc that will turn Blue into Red. This one guild is bringing some of the most pvp active players from EQ's pvp servers to one guild. Some of these players have been pvping for years.
These people will be aggressivly lvling from the start.
It is with this in mind i will focusing most of my time on The Sleeper Server.
If any wish to take part in this clan and make new friends in the pvp world. Post an App on the Show interest Forum. (To Register use the navigation key on the top left corner)
If you really want to do join up but have no experience playing EQ. I would be glad to instruct players on
How-to-Gank and How-to-Greif.
Red Invades Blue.
This time it's personal.
Good luck

No more stupid team pvp.
Everything now becomes Free for all.
(now theres no more need to jump orgz)
When a player dies you will gain/lose faction with certain orgz.
Someone who is dedicated to Merv will increase Zion and Machine Faction and so on.
Being an appropriate # of points in a certain org will grant you certain abilities.
(Org Abilities cuz we havent heard about them in ages? Plus CQ for a reason)
The Abilities' powers will increase in arcs when you reach a milestone of CQ.
If you change orgz (focus on killing a certain grp) you will lose that ability if you fall under the #)
If you die you will lose half your level in points aka lvl 50 dies= loses 25 points of reputation.
Kill someone of the same lvl vice versa > plus 25 points of rep.
Whats the difference between Rep and CQ?
Reputation Points allow you to gain Org Abilities
CQ is XP of your Org Abilities
Multi Fighting = Interlock Bonus Thrown/Ballistic/Melee Defense
Taunt= Increase chance of Interlock (move taunt of Awakened Tree)
Desperation= Increase Chance of Withdraw

Looking for 4 (four) individuals who are willing to spend time to working on a film with myself.
This production will be stressful irratating and most harshly require the actors to actually log into the Matrix Online game.
This film relates to the functionality of the Matrix from the perceptions of the main characters- their love, addiction, and the consequential suffering.
I require 4 actors (2 male and 2 female).
If you are interested in working. Private Message works.

Ive grown tiresome working my thoughts onto these forums. I was going to post a few days ago on pvp, but it was too much of a post to write without branching off into different areas so i posted nothing. And i would have liked to have gone on about class structure, and i definately know that would have been longer than pvp.
Right now, im busy recruiting for a guild on everquest ( yea i still play that) so most of my time has been there, rather than here.
Without some last words. A few predictions to come within the next months.
profession required gear (aka items that say : Aikido GM required)
2 more Arcs added to the Pbox.
Archive revamp
Collector quests revamp.
Organization/reputation revamp.
Enjoy what you have.

The Archives of the Matrix.
A team oriented pvp zone with guards and a center of the zone boss with unique items.
I admire the developer's idea of competition from team to team within these zones. But the lack of content is a bit extensive. These are infact special areas that should be given special qualities. Indeed unique items are a must, but there must also be a unique way of obtaining them.
From here, extending the storyline of each Archive would be spectacular.
What I have in mind for Archives relies on many uses of "Games"
Id like to keep the "Laser Tag" and competition reality with these Archives.
I want to expose players to cross team Missions/Events.
Player/Groups vs Player/Groups in the same mission against one another.
For the most part, I will continue the logic of the Merovingian controlling these Archives.
"There is something I want, ever since I first arrived here...
To make a deal you have something I want"
With this in mind, players of all reputations will run the Archive events against the Merovingian. The Merv team (if they participate) act as monkey wrenches against both sides or one side. Their objective is to thwart the Zion/Machine teams victory. (How does one obtain victory? Trade Secrets of Creativity kthx)
Ok on subject.. Whether all teams are present or just 1. 1 Team can go against the AI. 2 Teams go against themselves. And I would hope 3 teams would participate in this type of event, where its much more than a Mara Central PVP fest.
When I look into these Archive Events. I see PVE defended by PVP. Players working the AI needed to be defended. Also there will be proactive pvpers in the event as well.
And from these events. 1 Team where all members will be rewarded (PVE wise AND PVP if they did kill players)
One reward from these is to progress to the next Archive, another gauntlet of the Merv. I have taken some time to myself just brainstorming ideas about how many Archives. I have about 6 or 7 in mind.
In all this spiel, want I aim for is this: player participation.
And when it comes to PVE and PVP. I want those 2 systems to be seamless. The only way to know the difference is in player names.
Archives
Capture the flag/Laser tag Domains
Competition for the win
Archive PVE events that require defenders/attackers
Archive Progression of storyline, advancement, and Team degradation <3

One of the biggest Timesinks in online gaming. The player's effect on a servers economy. From Tailoring (Clothing), Smithing (Armor), Fletching (Bow & Arrow making), Spell Crafting (duh), Potions (Click buffs), Weapons, Tools and the list can go on.
Player made items are bizarre in nature, IMO. The question of "How much skill does it take to make an item that I could get if i raided/grouped for it"
These questions go around again and again. I have a solution to some of these questions.
With Clothing items, im sure it has been mentioned again and again. Especially within the Matrix Online.
A player is able to take the enchancements off the item, and place them on peice of un-enchanced clothing that the player chooses (whether the superficial look of a player or whatever.) The item then becomes Altered, unable to receive further augmentations.
The info economy, can be altered slightly. Info can be broken down into code bits (1- which relieves the loot system on code frags. Instead of dropping info and bits. just break the info down into bits.
When it comes to making items within the Matrix. I believe a new loadout similiar to the blank white loading construct is needed. "Anything we need"
A new construct that is fitted for not just tradeskills but menus to edit enchancements to move off and onto other peices. Click Guns. A spreadsheet. move your cursor over it and it gives the stats. Load? Yes. Boom Inventory.
Although it does not work, uploading weapons. Or anything of that matter. You upload it, its now scanned as decompiled in the construct. No need to break it down to memorize (sorry farmers but I believe the info tool will be better)
Mass Supply items. If youve got the Info for Bits. "Guns, lots of Guns" or essentially coming into play with stacks of pills and TBs.(which i do not like.. ill get back to ya on pills and tbs..)
Essentially, my rationalization is quick summon of trades
Scanned to memory after first interaction with the new item (Compared to Basic Supply items in the Construct)
At the time being it feels like making an ability or whatever, the guy is on dial up, when he should be on some T-3 hardware. The Prompt menu knows he has codes for it. Just make it.
One problem, I see a lot of is; Macros. People that set their character up for Macro Tradeskilling.
A player uses some 3rd party software which tells the character to move here to there put items into this Tool maker and click combine. I believe by removing these gestures/commands from the game, it can dissolve the reasoning to "Skill Up Tradeskills" as well as Macro Programs.
Player edited clothing
New Loading Construct
Upload=Auto Scan/Decompile
Quick Item Creation

Was not able to post yesterday so, i will today.
Bringing players deeper into the game.
It is an obvious statement.
What things draw players into a game?
Activities: Solo, Group, Raid, Live Events
Community: Chat Boxes (ooc, shout, auction, and tell), Chat Server (aim or game server), Email (Players and CSR), and Public forums (Fan-based, and Official)
When it comes to Activities: There has from time to time been a struggle between Soloing and Grouping.
Sometimes you just want to be alone, sometimes you just cant find a group :smileysad:
The problem is finding the balance of what progression ( experience and item) rate between Solo and Group. A way to draw the line is having tasks that test a players's skill when it comes to soloing, and for groups, having the abilities of numerous classes envelopes less risks of failure ( dont hold me to that la~)
A nice way to progress a Solo friendly player is give a player a continous Arc that helps them progress slowly over time (Casual Player friendly).
In regards to group oriented players, one may find a similiar reward available but less risk involved because of a group effort.
With raids (20 or more players), I do not believe in a system that rewards only one person per 20+ players. Everyone involved should be rewarded in part of progression.
Yes I repeatedly use th word Progression
I believe it is the best time sink for online games. Yes, that ill fated word. Time Sinks. You see them everywhere. In MxO: 1-50, Red Frag Farming, Arc Vendor rewards, Collector Rewards, Dungeon (Boss Hideouts) Rewards and so on. They require more time than the average mission to complete, where a reward is beleived to be worth the risk and time.
With progression, i believe it keeps a player focused. Focusing on different facets of a game; Character (skills), Reputation (players and pve), as well as Item.
But when it comes to items, replacing items becomes a burden instead of a reward. Needless to say tiresom for a developer to sit and create balanced gear for each profession each slot each gender.
I think of items that players can advance. Over time, players will attune their own gear with custom stats that fit their character's profession and talents.
Progression.
Casual Player Arc Tasks with progressive rewards.
Group/Raid risks that reward all involved.
Progression of Gear. Undo Item Timesinks.

Online Events. Global Events. GM Events
Whatever. However.
These are the moments when the GMs and Players come together and have fun.
These are special moments when the storyline reaches a dramatic peak.
Where Lore and Player involvement go hand in hand.
When I look at the Matrix Online in my head, I see these events, these situations as points of resolution-the end of what in game actions players have taken.
At this moment the story drives the players.
I see it the other way around. The players drive the story.
The Gm event comes after the choice the players have made.
And when i say choice. I say choice as in holding the truce. Choice as in deleting programs from the Matrix. Choice as in ignoring the commands of superior leaders. The Causality of the Matrix. The players are proactive and the GMs end it with their reaction.
And in doing so, I hope players from all servers think differentely that each server's events become to shift. That no single server's choices are the same as the other. The Storylines begin to go in their own direction, still faithful to the Matrix standards, but driven by players.
When players run around the game, they do for a purpose, to provoke, to defend, to preach, and so on.
When I see Global events, I see this as a moment when GMs take part in the stories that the players have taken on in game. GM characters still using the Characters from the movie, but instead of just sitting and chit chating. We see these characters interact with the world. We see these characters interact with other characters.
Sure, there is not much of a change that I am posting for in this Article, but none the less, these events are for players to connect with their GameMasters and understand we are all here as a Community.

From Ultima Online and Meridian 59, to the current shards of Sony Online, Blizzard, and Play NC Soft. These are the essentially the biggest mmorpg companies that are driving online games.
Sony Online for its Everquest(1 and 2), Anarchy Online, Star Wars Galaxies, and Planet Side.
Blizzard for its first acheivement, World of Warcraft and its Battlenet servers of Classic RTS of War/Star Crafts and Diablos.
Play NC Soft for its amazing games: City of Heroes/Villians, GuildWars, and Lineage
There is also Mythic Entertainment that has released Dark Ages of Camelot as well the liscenced Warhammer.
Looking at game's enviroment is essential to understanding and believing a game. A person plays a game to escape reality and dive into a world where the rules of life are somewhat different, enjoyable and less stressful.
The enviroments to date have almost always been medieval tone areas. Swords, clubs, goblins, elves, dwarves and trolls or the sort. From this enviroment, Castles, Caves, vast plains, temples, and villages were constructed with the meakest qualities.
Ive seen glorious cities of white stone pathed with the finest pixels enough to consider upgrading to 2 GB of RAM. It is great that programmers have taken the time to create such a reality, but the answer eludes these programmers and resides in a lesser mind not bound to the parameters of perfection.
Withen the Matrix, really for the first time, players were given a world that 1, is particularly neat and clean (except the westview heh). A world that has introduced a mass amount of Z axis atmosphere. Giant buildings that touch the roof of the game where the clip plane set to full still cannot see down below.
Amazing.
But apperances can be deceiving.
Behind these towers is nothingness.
The elementary enviroment has little to no real npc homage beyond the no named exile gangs and Contacts. And yet these Contacts are of relative use. But that is for later.
The structural integrity of the game needs a vast alteration. Real inside areas far more than club scenes and lobbies.
Some quick mentions of areas that should be completely useful to players in game whether social or quest/task enchanced: Club Hel, The Oracle's Apartment, The Agent Interogation Room, The Architect's room, The Hallway of Doors, Mobil Ave, and essentially everything that was covered within the Trilogy, because infact, these places all have a meaning, they are not mentioned for any other reason other than that they will be important in the future. This IS the future.
Now
As for Interacting with these enviroments. The greatest concept I learned in school was that for online games, a player needs to be in control otherwise, he/she will be bored. Give the player the control over the game and he/she be entertained.
From all the games I have mentioned up above there is one company, I believe that has quietly made the best games all around games. EA-Electronic Arts. From Story lines of Games to puzzles to player control, the ideas from EA are far present in the Sims.
Thats right. The Sims.
The future of Online Gaming is not as much advancing players anymore. It is about advancing Communities.
The SimCity collection is the best player controlled game in my honest opinion.
A player is given money to spend as he/she wishes to create a city withen the bounds of taxes/responsibilities and desireability.
We already see this type of Player control in a few games in the past where it deals with a private base for members of factions and guilds. And this is the next step forward.
Creating a Town is something familiar with games. Players given the tools to create halls, bars, trading areas for other players.
With the Matrix. It's all code. Whether its program created or player created. A building, a club, a construct. The possibilities are endless when players are given the tools to create.
Whether a player is "nuetral" and creates a club to kick back in with friends and whoever. Whether it is a base to defend and hold programs and codes. Or even a building to hack into the Matrix Itself. Giving the player the abilitiy to work the system to his/her own eyes.
And when it comes to creation, the balance must be to destroy.
Everything that has a beginning has an end.
With this in mind to code the Matrix as players see fit. There comes the point of breaking down the code as others permit. This in turn leads to PVP which is another Article in the near Future.

The vicious battle that is High End vs Casual Gaming has been a long standing war. Personally I always favored the High End grind of massive hours of grinding to acheive whatever victory over Computer Intellegence that developers had to throw at their gamers. But through the past 2 years gamers have gone through a change, being that the age of their life has granted them more responsibility in their jobs or roles in their families- they have slowly dwindled their playtime hours and become unable to manage the long hard road that is End Game.
Sure enough game developers introduced a new system to give players a "play as you go" mentality. The instance missioning system came into play as 2 birds with 1 stone ideal method of fixing online gaming. At first high end competition for npcs, where essentially the early bird gets the worm. Although that does not appear more often than not on the levels of Archives. Having a guild of 50 or so have to log off because none of their npcs are up is a bummer. But on the otherside it promoted competition with guilds that created a reason to fight and play (especially on a pvp server). Being able to summon an instance of raid like npcs without competition, where a guild solely focuses on the pvE of the game. The other bird of this is being able to start such a raid at any given time. Essentially players who were on European time frame could be on any server they desired because a Guild of Europeans could raid whenver they wished. The off side of this, is that it has created a lazy mood for players. Players log in slothlike with the "It doesnt start till i get there so i will take my time" attitude. Which for most is a unteam-like attitude that deserves a punt in the pants.
Now what does this have to do with the Matrix Online?
The Matrix Online has been put upon a standard mission system. It has its generalized mission type: Assassination,Courier, Rescue, and so on. These missions have the thinist amount of lore possible with auto generated names. Locked doors blah blah blah and so on.
To quote the Machines. These missions lack purpose. And therefore should be deleted.
Missions should be a progressive quest of lore, whether it be an Arc or Quest. Long extensive fights instead of breaking into buildings through the front door just because i have the Kung Fu Grip.
Deleting of these missions is a step in the right direction. What these are; instance camps that require dungeon crawls. These are stupid, Always on the move? Dare i say grinding is a thing of the past. High End grinding has had its time. It is now time for instancing end game to take over. Instancing to prove a point. Instancing for a one time challenge of endurance, strategy, and sometimes teamwork (Yes i love to solo).
High End grinding is over.
Instancing focusing on group challenges rather than quick xp.

The Matrix Online.
I believe that liscencing movies into online games is great. It is a storyline that the public already knows, understands and enjoys. The Matrix Trilogy itself ended the way it did for a reason. Much as V (from V for Vendetta) stated at the end, " I have taken this far, its up to the people to create the future" summarized. The people within the Matrix should be making the future of story. As many believe, this is not happening.
This is what it comes down to is creating a new system of online gaming. A system that meets the standards of the old time online gamers of yesterday, the newcomers of Today, and the youngsters of tomorrow. Yes, at this moment, I could not be any more vague.
The demand for Power Gaming versus the demand for Casual Gaming has always been a fundamental issue in online games, and sadly the Instance system released is not being used to its full advantage. You go to an npc, pick up a mission and go through your haunted house and survive. Rinse and Repeat.
This enviroment is in reality, a Paper Street. No named streets mapped out randomly with buildings that have no such power or relevance. The Enviroment IS our playground. An interactive playground-not a maze. It's true we want some cheese. But what we are given is rotten, stale, and far boring. We should be getting something fresh and remarkebly different. What we need is an enviroment that we can destroy as well as create.
Online Games are not public forums. Forums are great. But what is in the game stays in game. So what is the answer then?
Bring the rest of the world into the game
The Matrix itself is a world. A continual round the clock system of news and blah blah blah. We are players with leaders, whether they are players like ourselves, or NPCS. The standard GM events are not efficient displays of a leading storyline; especially with liscencing a story such as the Matrix when the characters have shifted the course of story. Without these characters, we as players are not feeling a part of the story.
A game system for the past present and future gamers.
Casual Gameplay that meets critical challenges for a High End Team.
Enviroments thats interact with players and vice versa
Online Events that become seamless to normal run tasks/quests/missions.
Bringing the community together deeper into the game.

This Develpment Idea is mostly for ArtherEld, but if anyone has any questions, comments. I will answer them. This post (and there will more) is about Group systems and Area Missions. Before I explain my system, id like to explain the past stance on Group systems. For most games, the standard group consists of a Tank, a Healer, a De(Buffer), and 3 DPS slots. The Tank, obviously tanks. The Healer.. Heals..., The DPS (are essentially expendable classes that deal damage and hopefully do not steal agro from the tank because they usually lack the Armor and HP to tank) The De(Buffer) has a unique ascept. This slot usually has a class type that can snare/slow, stun/mez, or even a secondary Healer. This group type would be considered the perfect standard group. But the downfall of such a system is the class requirement for having a Tank and a Healer. Without these 2 essential classes, the group would most likely fail to acheive victory. The option of not having Tanks or Healers, is using a tactic called Kiting, and Fear Kiting (Reverse Kiting). Kiting involves snaring (movement debuff) and the npc chases the player with agro and the DPS attacks the npc. Reverse Kiting requires open spaces. The npc is snared and Feared (cannot control character runs in a certain direction) the dps follows the mob damaging until fear fades. From these types of Systems Certain classes are required to acheive victory. These types of systems are played all the way through to high end. In npc wandering areas. Groups may be looking for that certain class to play, or the group has trouble getting XP. Some players will go LFG (Looking for group) yet receive no group because a group requires a certain class instead of someone who is looking for group. This creates frustration, as to. The required classes are usually the most boring, wheras the DPS classes are the most creative and diverse. Using the Old MxO system, the frustration would wash away, due to the fact that players were able to load whichever class style which was needed for the event. Of course the time sink of getting the proper levels for abilities and getting the abilities made, was the timesink but well worth the time. I have my own idea for a non-Healer/Tank system but i wont go into it. As for Area Missions. These area missions (contacts) use the Standard Experience missions, which are boring to say the least. I propose that these Trials (Not missions!) be the hardest tasks that players can do for their level. These Trials are given as Arcs from the Exile Contacts that do have an actual role in the matrix (Yes Exiles do work in the Matrix). Im not talking about that Exile named Antartica thats targeted for Assassination. These Area Exiles are in hiding and require protection from Agents, and the Merovingian. The difficulty of a mission should not be based in levels, but rather what effects are groups fighting/how each group member brings something to the table. Instead of thinking about getting an npc to 0 Health. Implement speed bumps into these trials. Waves of Npcs. Npcs that have Rampage (a wave of Area melee Damage), Npcs that are immune to Debuffs, NPCs that require clever strategies to be beaten. Rewards for these difficult Trials should be access to Archive Zones, as well as the Exile Command Special Ability (this Ability has no class), One issue i have with grouping which finally was fixed over the last summer. Groups of higher levels with lower levels. Within the Matrix, if i remember you can be lvl 10 or so and still group with a 50 and get XP. When that occurs the npcs are balanced out and some of the lower players may be able to hit the npcs, but just easier for the higher levels to take it out. For groups, i believe in challenge. I believe in grouping with players of the near/same level. What SoE has done with EQ as well as other online games is create a "shroud" system where either the higher level player becomes a lower lvl player and can only use the powers of that such level and below. As well, the lower level can become higher level but cannot use anything beyond the level he really has acheived. For Example. lvl 15 groups with a lvl 50. The Level 50 can buddy the lvl 15 and make the lvl 15 turn into a lvl 46. The lvl 46 has the powers of only a lvl 15 but his skills are maxed of those (tet Abilities). I believe with this type of system, Class structures, where players can choose to play whichever class they can load is essential to the creavity and class desirability that players do run into when trying to progress in (mini) Raids. Again, questions, comments. Next Post will be about Regular XP (Regular mobs and Mission system)
