For all the "date miners" that are bitching about pvpers, there are buildings that you can go into with multiple floors.

Go in them, hide there and mine.

Other than that, get over it. They made a PvP/FFA zone for a reason

All in all Microsoft made a big mistake in not including HD-DVD as standard in all of their Xbox360's. They loose out on a heck of a lot of sales on HD-DVD this way. Currently the PS3 games are all made on Bluray, therefore the millions of games that have been sold are all in bluray, compared to the Xbox360 using DVD.

Taking the fact that while HD-DVD is cheaper than bluray the fact that Sony decided that the PS3 would use Bluray instantly pushed up the sales for Bluray. The war isn't over and it has been known that certain products do push back in this late stage but I still feel that it's very unlikely since if the film producers stop backing up HD-DVD it won't have anything to lean against afterwards, while Sony gave bluray a safety net by making the PS3 game format bluray.
I agree with you, microsoft didn't want to put a hd dvd drive in their xbox just in case it lost, so they supported the format in a war that wouldn't hurt them. Hd dvd might be dying but I'll still be buying American Gangster, Beowulf, Into the Wild, I am Legend, and Cloverfield SMILEY

hmm,  I saw not one single movie over $25 dollars here.

Noticed Blade Runner? its list price is at 39.99 which is pretty much what most hd dvds or blu-rays start at.

amazon and other stores of course always have the thing on sale usually around 30 to 35 percent off.

39.99 + 30% off = 27.95

http://www.amazon.com/Runner-Five-D...9877&sr=1-3

Now lets look at Walk hard,

http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/new...lu-ray_Art/1462

"As previously announced, Sony has set a suggested list price of $43.98 for the Blu-ray."

43.98 + 30% off = 30.79

But Blu-ray and HD-DVD are going to eclipse SD-DVD in a few years' time with the price they are?  Price is only the primary factor for the end user.  HVD's retail price will come down just like any other technology's.  You guys are forgetting that HD in general is still in a nascent stage, nothing's set in stone yet.  You're boxing yourselves into the same corner into which Bluray supporters are accusing HD-DVD supporters of residing.  Early adoption does not define a standard, sorry.  If anything this Bluray/HD-DVD nonsense only put the nail in both their coffins faster.

Wrong, as stated in the OP of this thread,  HD-DVD is done therefore the nail is in their coffin and thats it.    And while you say HVD's price will go down, I'm certain your correct, but guess what, Blu-ray will be going down as well. And even still, why do you even care? Did you buy blu-ray equipment or software? If not you have nothing to worry about do you?
price will go down eh? Funny how Walk hard is set at 43.98.

It seems to me that prices are going up.

Oh and this article is just plain *CENSORED*....

Officially, no decision has been made, insists Jodi Sally, VP of marketing for Toshiba America Consumer Products. “Based on its technological advancements, we continue to believe HD DVD is the best format for consumers, given the value and consistent quality inherent in our player offerings,” she said.

But she hinted that something’s in the air. “Given the market developments in the past month,” she said, “Toshiba will continue to study the market impact and the value proposition for consumers, particularly in light of our recent price reductions on all HD DVD players.”

They think that toshiba is going to drop hd dvd because of these 2 quotes? This article is all about opinion.

The Lounge Off-Topic Discussion Universal leaving HD-DVD Re:Universal leaving HD-DVD BloodWork 0 02/07/2008 18:26
Wow...so much *poop* in this thread...

first off, it's hd dvd not hd-dvd SMILEY

second, Universal has said many times in the past few weeks they will continue to support hd dvd, same with paramount

third, there is no such thing as a triple layer 100 gig blu-ray disc at the moment, they don't even seem to be working on it since theres no need for one right now. There is however is 51 triple layer disc in the works for hd dvd. Also hd dvd can also play up to 7.1 surround sound

fourth, this might show you guys a better look at studio support:

http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/...dstudiosaj2.jpg (the blu-ray list is missing lionsgate, but also remember that most blu-ray movies have different studio distributors in europe so I can usually import them since hd dvd has no region coding)

fifth, I think warner FINALLY announced the matrix trilogy for blu-ray. Why? Because it took Sony almost 2 years to develop the picture to picture feature on their blu-ray players, which warner uses in many movies. They still haven't come out with standalone players that will have web enabled features, which are called blu-ray profile 2.0 players. Those are expected to be released at the beginning of 2009, basically 3 YEARS after the first hd dvd player came out with the feature.

sixth, I enjoy my matrix movies very much on hd dvd SMILEY, I bought my player for 99 bucks at the walmart sale back in oct 07 and the A3 is currently going for 118 bucks on amazon with 7 free movies which still is an amazing deal.

(missing Ocean's 13, the 40 year old virgin, Ray and Patch adams in that picture that people borrowed)
