The Lounge Next Renaissance The Journals of a Dead Man Re:The Journals of a Dead Man ExternalError 0 05/30/2009 17:53

Basically from the filenames put in order we found a message which directed us to a website for a map making company.  the only active part of this site was the stock ordering page which presented you with sliders

if you used the musical notes that are hidden within the map in a number of places it would lead you to anouther page wich was a jumble of words.   each word corresponed to a frag name.  if you swiched the frag name out for the frag id and then converted it to ascii it gave the following message

The glass is cold. There's ice in the glass. I hate when there's ice in my glass.
Makes my teeth too cold. Doesn't matter now. I know my teeth aren't really cold and
so they aren't. It's been years since I've had ice.
And now we have come full circle.

I guess you have to go backwards to go forwards. I could jack out if I wanted to.

I don't want to.

I could have started dating my journals again. I have rejoined civilization
after all. I figure why bother. Time is an illusion created by aging cells. I don't
need any reminders of lost time and aging years. I thought I'd have vital information
to send back to Zion in these encrypted messages. I was wrong. I don't know where
I am. I don't know how I got here. I don't know the secrets of the machines. I don't
know anything that Zion cares about knowing. As far as they're concerned, I'm dead.

And aren't I?

I have an office now. It's small but I've gotten accustomed to that,
haven't I? There are no walls. Just a pocket of infinite whiteness. Why waste resources
rendering walls, shadows, depth, textures. There is a desk and a chair. Comfortable
enough not to be a distraction and uncomfortable enough not to be a distraction. The
desk has nine drawers. There could be more but nine is good. In one drawer there is
an apple. Never forget how rare the crunch of an apple. In another drawer there is
a gun. There is always enough ammunition for the gun in the drawer. On the desk there
is a computer. Far better than the ones I used to know. There is an Out box and an
In box. When I enter the room, the Out box is always empty. The In box is not always
full. I have a key to the office. When I open the door, the office is there. Doesn't
matter which door. Despite the absence of paper clips, it is perfect.

Approached the bluepill-imposter instance of the 991 program that has been under surveillance. It recognized me on sight. It did not initiate dialogue. Instead, it knocked
over a coworker's
desk and leapt through a twenty-fourth story window.  Don't need a coroner to know
the cause of death. Interesting to learn that it plays by the rules. The rules of
gravity, that is. Would think that it could have survived impact, yet it reacted the
same as any other bluepill. Other office workers seem only minimally concerned. Machines
do a good job of keeping reactions suppressed. Wish I could tell them not to mourn
their coworker's death. It was not human. Fortunate that I did not have to execute
it in the office. That would have been more difficult to suppress. As I was examining
the contents of its desk, noticed nearby coworker righting desk and arranging papers.
He meticulously aligned four pens on the desk surface. Strange how orthogonality and
rigid forms provide comfort in this chaotic system. "Creature comforts." As long as
individual microcosmic lives are balanced to acceptable parameters, they feel that
everything is right with their world.

It isn't.Cursory examination of the 991-bluepill's
computer revealed nothing. Literally nothing. No files pertaining to its bluepill
job at the insurance firm and no seditious plots. There was a single word document
with the word "Slam." written again and again. The motivation behind the actions,
or inactions, of these 991 programs continues to elude me. Next stop is to check out
the address listed as place of residence. Don't expect to find much.

Society conditions
us. We grow up knowing lunchtime and dinnertime. Work during the week, play during
the weekend. Sleep at night, live at day. We're conditioned to conform to this pattern
through every service and function of society. But when you start losing hold of that
structure, you discover the basic primal structure of function beneath it. Eat when
you need food, sleep when you need sleep. Your body becomes a machine. A device that
functions with proper maintenance. Freed from the constraints of conventional temporal
structure.

On the way to the field office, saw a woman, a man, and their child. They
looked very happy. Immediately walked into alley. Shot myself. Usual pain as I was
kicked from the simulation. In the dark, I remembered my friends. All dead. Cannot
hope to embrace love or friendship again. Too many inhuman monsters who abuse the
emotions of humans. My humanity continues to afford them too many weaknesses to exploit.

Was called to a meeting with an Agent and a group of redpills. Skinner was his name. Must
be one of the new ones. They were all talking about Morpheus. A palpable excitement
in the crowd. Many young faces. Newly awakened but they support the system. Very odd.
Wasn't very interested in the discussion, found myself reflecting on Rajlich instead.
Never trusted him, thought he was part of 991's game. Still a possibility, but I find
myself believing that he was sincere after all. Maybe he really was just a man trapped
between worlds and looking for help. I gave him none. Other news. The war has been
over for months. I was never told. Zion is allowed to recruit openly now as long as
they follow certain rules. A truce. Explains all the young faces. Don't think this
change will affect me.  Besides, it happened months ago and I was not yet even aware
of it. I will continue protecting them from the threat they cannot see. Cannot be
allowed to see.
...Contamination. I did not consider this. With many naive newly awakeneds,
991 may take advantage. Either to begin new experiments and games or to garner support.
I can only imagine a force of Zionists aiding the program. Disastrous. Will have to
be careful to control access to the case files.
I haven't left the office for... a
long time. I was going to say days, but I realized I don't know. It could have been
weeks. There is a large volume of material to cover. Hundreds, maybe thousands, of
log files from multiple sources. The 991 program's ability to manifest itself in a
variety of forms, combined with the fact that it pursues many different activities
within the simulation, makes it very difficult to distinguish between instances of
991 and other exile programs. I believe 991 relies on this ambiguity to hide its actions
and obscure its true intentions. It may be difficult and undoubtedly thankless work,
but I will need to determine a motive or a pattern before I can start intercepting
these programs and deleting them. However that works. The machines haven't given me
any information on that front yet. I don't even know if they can be deleted. Maybe
with some sort of virus inserted into the shell. Maybe with a bullet. Time will tell.
I discovered some sort of machine technology. It monitors neurokinetics and stress levels.
At critical stress levels, it safely initiates a jackout. As near as I can tell, this
technology could keep me from being killed in the simulation. Unfortunately, there
weren't exactly any manuals and specifications lying around. Sure, it would be nice
if it worked. I'm not planning on going out and putting it to the test anytime soon.
Something like this would radically change the war for Zion. No more death. A chance
for peace? I will see if I can find more information. Over and out.
No sign of 991
yet since I have returned to the simulation. I didn't expect this from it. It spent
so long watching me, taunting me, toying with me. Now I've come back and it does nothing.
Is it resisting its nature? I hope it does not disappoint. So long I ran from this
twisted creature. No longer. It can do nothing to me. All it can do is kill me, and
ending this game with my death would only be a joke on it. And even if I must be bait
so that the machines can kill it, then so be it. I will keep studying the data until
I learn how to find 991 myself. If it won't come to me, then I'll come to it.

A pocketwatch
was waiting on my desk when I returned to the office. I had not left it there. It
didn't strike me as a gift from the system. A quick scan revealed nothing. Opened
it. Inside was Mari's photo. I exited to the courtyard without a word and threw it
into a dumpster. I have its attention now. As I eliminate more of its resources, it
will have no choice but to pay greater attention. Must be very careful in coming weeks.
I deleted her photo from my encrypted files. That was my last piece of her. Her ghost
will haunt me no more.

thats as far as we got then as that seems to be the end of the trail just thought id post this so everyone could have a read of everything

Yeah 3 card poker, its been in the casino's over in the uk for a while now been getting better and better at it recently last year i was a total blackjack junkie i really like the single deck tables as we dont have them over here in the UK but this year im definatley hitting 3 card tables.  $5-10 a hand is what i usually play which in 3 card can easily turn to being $20 in if you think you have a decent hand.  Im not much of a slots man i prefer games with some skill to them instead of just mindlessly feeding a machine.  i may enter a texas torni again this year although im out of practice with my poker playing.  Should be good this year. I'm hoping to meet back up with Roukan and Craint maybe even hit some clubs this time I dont know.  hopefully we wil have a free booze party like last year.  I still remember staying up till like 6am just to watch spurs in the sports lounge of the hilton and im looking forward to see what Virago and Walrus has planned for us.

Oh and hopefully we can be the loudest goup there like last year eq players are so quite

Ive sat here the last few days looking over this thread and it interests me not because of what is being organised but how much the comunity has fell to pieces since rarebit left as i see it all of us including the people who are shunning this idea love this game and if you dont really then can i suggest you dont post silly posts in this thread and go join http://www.habbo.co.uk/ because without a dev thats what this game has become.  Phrack I commend you and you know you have my support even if it turns out to be a lost cause because at least we can turn round and say we tried.  For those who disagree please dont post i will say the same as i said about rarebits website thing let the people who want to take part take part stay out of the thread and enjoy what the game has become.  If you are a follower of this thread then i commend you and hope that we at least get a response.  So can we all behave like young adults and be the quality comunity MxO is renowned for.

Syntax Marketplace - Syntax price check Re:price check ExternalError 0 02/23/2009 16:38

cads what does datamine have to do with it if anything id of expected the price to rise with the masses of info now available from data mine.  basically on a time basis it takes 2100 maximum decayed code to farm this at an average of 80 per hour. therefore taking 26 hours give or take.. I even sold one on rec last month for 2.5 bil which goes to show what some people are willing to pay due to the tediousness of farming the headgear.

In 26 hours you can farm about 900 mil minimum in datamine hence the price should be closer to that or more, given the need to use a second account to farm 80 decayed code in an hour.

using my method you can hit 25 in 1 day and 9 hours without running around.

Gameplay Discussion Character Development Fastest time to 50 Re:Fastest time to 50 ExternalError 0 01/28/2009 05:59

whats your /play time though log in to your character and type /paly in the chat box. this will give you teh total amount of time you have been on your character. also with my method you can be doing other things such as chat while your farm.  basically you can set your attacks to a macro and farm away without actually wasting your precious mouse clicks but make sure you are still playing the game as AFK farming is against the rules.  But macro to save you mouse clicks are allowed.  with my methos it would take me 1 day and 9 hours of /play time to reach 25.  this is somewhat slow compared to missioning but then again i dont have to move more at all.  the only thing i miss out on is rep but thats easy to grind so its no big deal.  A combination of sleep walker boxes and 01 part farming at the same time is still the most effective way to lvl.

Gameplay Discussion Character Development Fastest time to 50 Re:Fastest time to 50 ExternalError 0 01/28/2009 03:39

oh in case anyone wanted to know the /play time you will have if you use the corrupted farming method and nothing else would be around 6 days 3 hours based on 1 corrupted spawn every hour yeilding an average of 80 decayed code.  not a bad /play time considering you dont have to move around at all.

as you see if you trade 1 archive in at lvl 1 you will jump straight to lvl 5 from then on the number of archives needed to reach the next level is listed.  I have highlighted a flaw in the xp reward system for the corrupted code XP trade in as shown in this thread

http://forums.station.sony.com/mxo/..._id=36300027480

and hopefully this could be looked at to bring it in line with the rewards given by the equivilant amount of decayed code needed to obtain a corrupted code.

My next set of research is going to be in 01 part farming and the xp gained off of each part although from my initial research i have found that the trade in for 20 parts is equal to the max xp reward for killing an ^^^ npc 5 levels above the player level times by 10 + a bonus ammount of xp that i have yet to calculate a progression for.

Development Discussion Development Roundtable Imbalanced XP trade ins Imbalanced XP trade ins ExternalError 0 01/27/2009 18:47

Ok my point here is to highlight a flaw in the xp trades of the corrupted quest.  I have been conducting research on the best method to level from 1 to 50 without having to run missions or needing a team of 50's.  basically i settled on the corrupted quest as the xp trade in is on a par with 01 parts and you can do it using a lowbie on a second account and a 30+ operative.  At the corrupted quest hand in vendor "The Fumigator" there are 2 options to trade in for which you gain XP.  One being a corrupted archive which at level 45 gives 1,350,000 XP and 250,000 info and the other being a corrupted code trade in which again gives 1,350,000 and 1,250,000.  Ok the problem here is the second option is highly imbalanced due to the fact in order to get a corrupted code you have to kill a Level 100 Wasteland Corrupter which requires 340 Decayed Code.

If I was to trade in 340 decaying code at level 45 i would get 11,475,000 XP and 2,125,000 Info.  as you can see the second XP trade option is highly imbalanced, even if you take into account that there is a small chance you will get 2 Corrupted Codes drop from the 1 Wasteland Corrupterthe numbers dont work out any where near the values they should be in order to make the trade in worth while.

This conclusion is not even taking in the fact that it takes 15-20 mins to kill a corrupted in which time you could of gained your self another 40 decayed code by farming the corrupted spawns.

How to fix this, I think a way to fix this would be to increase the XP on the Corrupted Code to 8.5 times that of an Archive and also incease the info given to 2,125,000.  This would bring the trade in into balance and the reward of 2 corrupted code having a low chance of dropping is a reward for killing the spawn instead of just collecting the decayed code.

Id like to hear if everyone thinks this change seems fair and hopefully it attracts the eyes of Rarebit and makes the patch.

Also while ive been looking into this i think it would be beneficial if there was a trade in added to "The Fumigator" that allowed you to change 1 archive for 40 insecticides.  This would help store large amounts of decaying code in a players inventory and reduce the ammout of inventory space needed for the decayed code by half. As the farming process for the headgear is a long process your inventry space is taken up during the farming process, if the trade i sugested is implemented it would half the ammount of space needed while players farm the required amount of decayed code to take on 1 corrupter.

I was under the impression the exp gain from boxes like that was geared to level much like hardlines and access nodes are but I could be quite wrong.

Yes they are what i am looking for is details of how much xp you get per 20 parts at different lvls. For instance say at lvl 8 you get 40k and at lvl 9 you get 48k or something to that extent.  I am trying to plot the exact ammount of parts needed to attain each level.  through my own findings im estimating 120 parts per lvl at lvls 2 to 40 then 300 for lvls 40 to 50 that is a rough estimate but it worked out pretty well in my tests

Right im looking into finding an exact number of parts or decaying code it would take to lvl from 2 to 50.  Does any one have any data they may have recorded in the past regarding how much xp a box of 01 parts gives at certain lvls. If so i would appriciate it if you could share this data with the boards and i can utilise this in my calculations.  Alternatively if Rare could share the xp data per lvl he set the parts trade in at i would be very grateful.  if i can not get any data previously recorded can i ask a favour of the players of mxo i need a wide spread of data for how much xp you gain at different lvls for 20 robot parts.  if it is anything like the xp curve it will probably be a slightly different curve in the ranges of 2 to 10 than in 11 to 50.

With your help i will be able to use your data to graph the xp gained from each trade in per lvl and thereby calculate the exact number needed to lvl from 2 to 50 purely on parts trade in's alone
