If you don't know by now, I played the Cypherite Liaison, exivy.

One day I got an email in-game from recursion.rarebit and I was like, ???? It said "You've got a certain "CONFIDENTIAL" forum PM from me. If you could read that and get back to me via PM, that would be great. And don't mention this to anyone else--you'll see why once you've read it. =P"

I checked it and couldn't believe what I was reading.

I was part of the new 2.0 but arrived about a week after everyone else. I really wanted an EPN position because I knew I could play that role well, but they were all taken. I only told Sputteh that I was in LESIG, because we live together. She ended up in LESIG also, so it all worked out anyway!

I decided to be a Recursion Cypherite! the complete opposite of what I knew! Viraconrida was still in the crew and gave me a few tips before she vanished and the other Recursion Cyph never made an appearance. So, I had all the Cypherites to myself! woot! Eventually, I was the only active liaison for the cyph's and machines on recursion so I tried to involve the machines in as much as I could so they could feel loved too. Kerevola helped me out a lot, though, and I appreciate her very much.

So, I got to enjoy NightTrace's thoughts on many many issues and I tried to keep everyone from being bored at Camon Central. NT and I actually got along very well. He had a point of view many didn't understand but I could see it.

I ended up getting some partners in crime - Rejex and Stanten, and they were great. They passed me up in leveling and both hit 50 before me! I think we are the only org on all 3 servers to have all 3 liaisons at 50, plus Kerevola was 50 too. Stanten turned into the leader of our crew. He had great ideas and the time and energy to put into his character, even farmed Rejex and I patcher's bandana. He was like XIV's big brother.

I had decided to give exivy a french background and brushed up on some of the language and had a good chat with an actual frenchy while we were running missions. I think goligoth might remember that lol. She was friendly to most but liked to slap faces too. Fenshy (fenshire) and I had a weird relationship that started when he invited me to his bachelor party, which was all zion, and I got naidian to come and she was all stiff agent and I was being crazy, having fun. Ever since then, fenshy always asks me to rejoin zion and we have good banter. Something else I remember was that I named ChloeAnne's perpetual orb, sudapop. Rarebit had named the bad guy for that event, Suda, and I made fun of it all night in crew chat. Then when Chloe got the perp, she wanted to name it and I threw out sudapop and it stuck! There was Ebola, who stayed Cyph through thick and thin, a real trooper and not just an alt that logged on for events. Merchant was my missioning buddy and seemed to always be on when I was. I appreciate his help very much, since we weren't suppose to ask for it. Atlasts is a sweetheart and I could always count on her. Maybe I shouldnt name names but I think I did pretty good not showing favoritism to anyone. We were a small group so I knew the entire organization pretty well. I interacted with anyone that wanted to interact with me. I really was in it to give the players an enjoyable time because I remember how much I enjoyed interacting with Keterina. Thanks ManicV for your job with Ket, you left too soon but gave us a good villian with Systematica.

I have many fond memories with XIV and I had a lot of fun helping you all have fun. I hope that I did a decent job, I wish that I had had more time back then to develop her character more and come up with some good side stories. Hindsight is always 20/20. I wish it could last much longer, as we had more ideas and more fun times planned. But, in the words of Trucidos, "It is what it is."

Thank you for everything. Its been a great ride and I doubt I will ever have the chance to do something like this again in a game. It was a truly unique experience in which I am greatful.

~ XIV ~

Thank you, Hydra.

I really had no idea, none whatsoever, how many people appreciated Ket until after I killed her off.  I never thought of her as a combatant, and I always assumed that's what people wanted.  I figured people put up with her "talkiness" just to be nice and supportive of the LESIG program.  She was imagined as a thinker.  Someone to stir the intellectual pot.  But after nearly two years on a hostile server, I had it in my head that Vector was all about "teh hardc0re pvp'z", so I often felt guilty that Ket rarely engaged in battle.  Fighting really isn't my thing, and I didn't want to have to force it with Ket.

Anyway.  A surprising number of people have thanked me over the years for Keterina, and I don't think I've ever returned the favor for their support.  So, if they're reading this, thank you all.  For all its troubles, faults, and leaks, you guys made LESIG truly worth it.

Looking at my list in hindsight, there are maybe only two or three people that I ignored for personal reasons.  Almost everyone else was ignored as a result of a bad first impression.

It's only fairly recently that I've been questioning my choice to continue subscribing to MxO.  But I've always been glad that an MMO based on The Matrix existed at all.  And the brand is mostly what has kept me here.  At least up until this point.  I love The Matrix.  But I no longer love The Matrix Online.  The MxO from days of yore is a far cry from the MxO we have now.  For those of you who only know MxO as it has existed under SOE, I don't think I can adequately express what you missed out on when the game was under Monolith.

There was a time when I would defend nearly every change this game went through because I wanted the game to succeed.  I've since run out of such energy.  More and more I'm realizing that there is less and less worth defending.  Subsequent with the "new approach", each update to this game ultimately brings in little more than new gear to farm.  For some people this is probably sufficient and worthy of a monthly fee.  As far as I'm concerned however, a new pair of virtual pants or sunglasses every six weeks will never replace an intricate and in-depth story which hinges on immersion and player interaction.  We once had a living, breathing world in which to dynamically connect with key story characters.  This is what made the game great.  Now we have static quests in which to interact with scripted robots... and a party every now and then.  With everything that made this game unique having been severely reduced or stripped away completely, I no longer know what I'm paying for.

So I suppose this is it.  For now.

I think they were placed there simply to give the construct a feeling of child-like imagination.  Every other construct has some form of structure to it, but this is a construct created by a little girl.

The headscarf FX does have some limitations, which is one reason why I'm not going to make it a player-accessible FX just yet. The length and movement are based on time rather than distance, gravity, or momentum. It also resets every ten seconds since the FX timer has to loop for the thing to keep playing. Still I think it'll be kind of fun to see in action. It animates really smoothly and the animated gif I captured just using a sequence of screenshots can't really capture its fluidity.

Looks similar to the effect of the Quicksilver Gloves and the Red Eye.  The effect traces a line based on the path of a certain point?  In the case of the Quicksilver Gloves and the Red Eye the effect is a glowing red beam, but in this instance it is a flowing strip of fabric, correct?  Very clever.  SMILEY

Wouldn't be surprised in the least.

Knowing you earned Mobius by helping take out the Assassin used to mean something.  Might as well set up a collector to start handing out Flit Guns.

Being in Beta used to mean something.  HJB was a privilege.

Maybe before the Assassin's construct we can have a Beta construct, complete with Eyes In The Sky!  Farming the constant Agent spawns will earn you the original Neo Frags, which can be traded in for Neo's Insight/Glimmer of the Source/Merv's Boon, depending on org.  People who weren't in Beta will have the chance to farm highly buffed Beta clothing.  But the original Beta clothing will stay un-buffed, so even true Beta players will have to farm the new stuff.  Gotta make sure everyone is on an even playing field, afterall.

It's starting at the beginning of chapter 10.2 so people won't be able to run previous crits...

Highlighted part is interesting... unless it's gonna be a singleton too...

I thought older crits would remain in your mission log until you ran them, either by yourself or with a group.  That is, if your character was playable at the time that those old crits were actually available.  I could be wrong though.

I got the feeling that certain people would be rewarded for not playing a portion of the game by running all their old crits that they failed to keep up on.

Mortal Kombat took that step too far, and we f#^&ing loved it. I loved going up to Liu Kang and ripping out his spine, seeing the 2D blood drip to the floor. I loved freezing someone and chucking their own freaking head at their body, shattering it; and you can't say when Babalities came out you didn't burst out laughing. Fatalities made the game, and the lore and character backgrounds are just a plus. A very entertaining and enthralling plus.
Oh boy, if one of those anti-violence-game doods read that, they might just think that they are right in suspecting that game-violence spawns violence in real life.

Sorry for drifting off topic, but that isn't wrong actually, unfortunately what most people fail to see is that any game can spawn and is spawning violence, just look at football and soccer fanatics. Using video games as a scapegoat is just plain wrong.

Game, point, FATALITY.

Video Game Industry 1 - 0 Anti-Video Game Industry

What people fail to realize is that violence in video games doesn't actually incite anyone towards real-life violence.  Gaming forums are the real problem.  Countless scientific studies have concluded beyond all doubt that people who engage in heated debate on video game forums exhibit heightened levels of aggression.  Obscenities haphazardly spouted amid poorly constructed sentences with pitiful grammar; this is the real tragedy.  And it's enough to drive someone to kill

Just last week a 13 year old boy was reading a video game forum and became enraged when someone disagreed with him.  He went into his father's unlocked gun cabinet and grabbed a loaded 9mm.  He stole his neighbor's car, drove across state lines, broke into the home of forum user "UberPikachu1337" and shot him to death.  All because of a message board.  Who is to blame?  The internet.  It's been right under our noses the whole time.

Violent video games don't kill people, open discussion kills people.  Kids access the internet every day.  Who knows what they could be talking about?  If we want to maintain any semblance of hope at all, we need to abolish gaming forums.

I like the DC universe, and I love MK.  But the two together just seems... wrong.  I guess I never questioned Marvel vs. Capcom because I didn't really care about either of those franchises.  I didn't like any of the MK games between UMK3 and Deception.  Armageddon was great, and I was content to believe that it would be the final MK installment as it was supposed to be.

And no fatalities/blood?  These two things are what made the franchise.  It's not Mortal Kombat without them.

MK Armageddon was basically  MK Deception + MK Unchained + everything else that was left out.  They were basically the same games almost just more and/or different characters. I don't see why you wouldn't like it. It's not like its a movie or tv show, just a game to have fun with. Marvel vs. Capcom did well, Super smash bro. did well, this just seems like the right thing to do.

I'm a huge fan of both genres. Up until I saw the trailer I wasn't sure about it, but now... I am more excited about this than I ever thought I could be.  COME ON FALL!!!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

p.s.  As for he no fatalities thing, honestly, if the fatalities were the only thing you liked about the MK series then your not an MK fan. There is tons of lore and backstory to all the characters in MK and it creates one of the most unique and interesting universes I've ever seen.

All I was saying in regards to the fatalities and whatnot is that the elaborate death sequences were pretty much what kicked off Mortal Kombat's popularity.  They certainly weren't the hinging factor, but in the beginning that's pretty much all anyone focused on.  Part of what makes the games fun is the finality of completely slaughtering your opponent at the end of a match, sometimes in the most contrived ways imaginable.

To remove that from the game is to remove part of what makes the game fun and what the game is generally known for.

If MK vs. DC ends up being a good game, then that will be it.  Until I can see more of the game, the crossing of the universes just doesn't feel right to me.
