*NOTE* Gryn and Dxy both refer to each other by their bluepill names. Dxy's being Bridget ( hence the shortening "Bridge" ), and Gryn is Jon.
Dxy stared intently at the blank screen. Her eyes burned. How long had it been since she had blinked? Eyes that once burned bright now seemed rather dull. So lost was she in her own world, it hadn’t even occurred to her to remember to breathe. A loud bang snapped her out of her reverie, and she began coughing, gasping for air. Her lungs burned. “What the hell girl? I’ve been yelling at you for half an hour!” She turned around slowly, moving as though through mud to face the person behind her. There was a broken monitor on the ground next to him, smoke rising idly up from its remains. “I forgot to breathe…” she rasped. “I noticed. It seems you’ve forgotten to pay the electricity as well.” Gryn said, motioning around the darkened cabin. “The check’s in the mail.” She muttered. “You can’t sit around here forever in front of that screen Bridge. No matter how hard you wish, it’s not going to magically turn on. Face it, we’re stuck. We’ve got no way out of this mess. I told you this would happen too. She was a good kid, but not the commanding type. You should have left me in charge.” “I would rather have no power over a burned out shell.” Dxy replied. “Oh, my aching heart Bridge! How could you, it stings to the very core of me!” “Screw you.” “That doesn’t seem likely in this situation; let’s have a rain check shall we?” He plopped down in the chair beside her. She gave him a foul look as he pulled the cellophane off the ration in his hand and took a large bite. “That’s more emotion than I’ve been able to get out of you in days sugar. Look on the bright side, at least we found her.” Dxy looked around the familiar loading bay of the SS Praetorian. Several days ago they had left the safety of the HvCft Little Horn to find the ship they had once called home. Their tiny skiff barely had enough fuel in its energy cells to take them far, but after the distress call they had received from Jesma they realized they had to go. They had prepared as well as they could with the meager provisions that were left on the Little Horn after the crew had parted ways with rest of The Lost’s fleet. Dxy had stared at the skiff’s viewer watching the distress call over and over. The fear on her old friend’s face had shaken her to the bones, tears streaming down her face as the young girl screamed and the video cut abruptly to static. When they found the Praetorian they found neither hide, nor hair of the bird’s former crew. They wondered how old the distress call actually was, as the Praetorian’s timestamp was never as functional as it should have been. This was five days ago. Dxy hadn’t moved from that console until now. Gryn had spent most of his time searching the ship for signs of Jesma’s crew or at the very least a few spare power cells. He gave up after the third day. So he watched, and waited for his captain to snap out of it. At around day five he had decided that the best course of action would be to snag a monitor from the skiff, and throw it onto the bay floor behind her. She sighed loudly, “What the hell are we going to do?” “We’re thousands of miles away from Zion, not that we’d want to go there anyway. The Praetorian is dead, as is the skiff. We’re running low on rations, and you haven’t taken a shower in days. I think we’re pretty well screwed Bridge.” He replied with a shrug. “You really know how to lighten the mood Jon. This is a lost cause. We have no idea how old that video is, or what happened to Jes. I’m so worried for her.” He nodded, chewing the remnants of his ration quietly. Her brown eyes looked sullen, dead. He could see no shadow of the brightness they once held, and though it hurt to see his friend look so defeated it hurt even more knowing she was resigned to whatever fate had befallen the Praetorian’s former crew. The two companions sat, mourning their friends and their current fate. The two didn’t notice the soft clinking sound of metal on metal from outside the loading bay. As Gryn shifted his focus to the scarred wasteland outside the ship he became aware of the fact that they were not alone. As the sounds grew louder he tapped Dxy on the shoulder, and motioned towards the open door behind them. She fixed her eyes towards the outside, and listened intently. Gryn popped the release on the holster at his hip and wrapped his hand around the grip of his pistol. It was an ancient Colt Model 1911 he had stolen from a museum in Zion, and modified to fire the depleted uranium shells which had become the norm. Removing it from its home, and silently clicking off the safety he motioned for Bridget to do the same before he realized that his friend had already produced her sidearm and was easing her way to a clearer vantage point. He had to smile to himself as he remembered once again why she was the captain. They didn’t have to wait long before the source of the sound revealed itself. From their cover they could see a tall man wearing a long brown duster, and wearing a wide brimmed hat. The man looked almost inhuman. His scarred, pockmarked face was formed into a horrible sneer. His jacket was tattered, and torn. The clinking sound came from his left leg. It was a cybernetic replacement, the original having been lost some time ago. The craftwork of it was obviously Machine. It was perfect, resembling a metallic skeletal version of a human leg. The toes clicked loudly at the foot of the bay door. Slung over his shoulder was a heavy machinegun. Standing behind him were four others, each carrying large weapons and grinning evilly. Gryn looked over at Dxy, and mouthed “Freaking pirates.” She nodded solemnly and silently clicked the safety off…

So is anyone else experiencing the really cool MxO minigame called "Crash Reporter"? I don't know, a lot of people in my faction are having connection and crashing issues. I crash about 10-15 times a day. It's become an annoyance that I can't possibly describe. My account is cancelled and is up on the 25th. If it's not fixed by then, I refuse to resub. I mean...christ...I want to play The Matrix Online, not Report The Crash Online.

 Everything I am wearing in that screenshot besides the gloves and the shoes you cannot see are from the Widow's Moor and Ashencourt constructs. I think it'd be really nice to see full sets of clothes from each of the contructs. What does everyone else think?

It's been quite a while since I've posted something on RSI hasn't it. Anyway, I've been messing around with nvidia's plug-in set for Photoshop. The Normal Map Filter is a plug-in designed by nvidia to bumpmap textures in Photoshop. I tried messing around with it in order to give the textures in MxO a little more depth, and create the illusion of bumpmapping (something I think the game could definately use!). This is the end result of several hours of tweaking to get the color scheme correct. The reason for that is that the plug-in isn't designed for a full in game screenshot and just little bits of texture here and there. It's also supposed to be used in the Alpha Channel (for Parallax Mapping), and not so much in the RGB Channel. Anyway I've gone on long enough.

Since my post about level 50 glasses worked, how about this devs. How come girls get normal black driving gloves, which are also the template for the torturer's gloves, and also used for some higher level enhanced gloves. Guys get the barrelhead gauntlets...which are almost entirely cool and black...if it wasn't for the stupid strips of green on them.
They don't HAVE to be enhanced (that'd be nice), and they don't have to be level 50 (that'd be even better). But I would like to see some black gloves for guys.
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease.

I figured a few people could get some use out of this.
First thing you need to do is click on your profile and go to your signature section.
If you use Photobucket it probably looks something like this.

See the part in the quotes after <a href=? All you have to do is edit that part to whatever http link you're wanting to be as your sig. Like mine is a link to my forum tracker and looks like this.

As you can tell my day off from work looks like this...

So how 'bout them tutorials eh? I bring you the method behind the madness and all that jazz. A lot of what I do is techniques used by other people, but a little differently, and a lot of what I do is weird stuff that I came up with on the fly. Today we'll be working with a photo of Gryn helping old ladies walk across the street. So let's get our Photoshops ready and play! First off we start with our image.

It's a little big though isn't it. Let's try resizing that shall we? When I'm editing a screenshot to turn it into a signature I always drop the resolution of the entire image to 800x600. Now that that's done we have a much smaller canvas to work with, and also a lot of the teeny tiny jagged artifacts are smoothed out a little more. Now what we want to do is duplicate our background layer. Once we've done that we're ready to start editing. The first thing I do when I'm editing an image is I adjust the brightness and contrast so that things we couldn't normally see are more visible.

Depending on the native brightness of the image, I usually choose a brightness of 15, and a contrast of 10 like so.

Once that's taken care of I make the copy of the background layer the only layer that's visible, this helps to see what you're doing in this next step. Now, let's pick our eraser tool and start carefully removing the focus of the image. In this case the focus of the image is Gryn, and the nice old lady he's helping across the street.

Yay now that the boring and redundant part is over we can get to the good stuff! What we're going to do now is click on Filter/Blur/Gaussian Blur. I do a ratio of 2.5 typically.

Once we've applied the blur, go ahead and make the background layer visible again. Now we're going to add some depth perception to the image. Click your eraser tool, and pick a large soft brush in the drop down menu. I use 100. Now we're going to run the eraser across the foreground and begin to add depth to the image.

This is pretty much done to taste. I use 100% opacity in the foreground, and the farther back I get I decrease the opacity in quarters like this.

Once your image has some depth to it, let's go ahead and merge the two layers that we have right now. The first thing I do once the image is flattened is adjust the levels. This is also pretty much just done to taste, but I generally lean more towards blue since it balances out the harsh green of everything within MxO and really cools down the image.

Now we're almost done, the final step in this is adding the photo filter, which I always add to my images. I use the Sepia preset. Adding the Sepia filter generally puts all the colors of the image into balance.

And I usually end up with something that looks a little better, but the only .BMP I had after cleaning my harddrive was a picture I took with that stupid overbright filter on, which always throws an image off kilter in my opinon, but this is the finished product.

To show our appreciation of the Recursion Community, The Trig Meritocracy has decided to host the upcoming MegaCity Community Festival. On March 9th-12th we will be providing new, and old players with Tactic Boosters, Antibiotics, Health Pills, Clothes, Weapons, pretty much anything codable a player would need...for free.
Join us at Camon Heights Central on these dates to get whatever it is that you need to function efficiently. The coding fair will last all day on these days, so come and get your fill.
We will also be holding a number of different tournaments, located at the dojo near the Sai Kung Central Hardline. If the demand is high enough (I.E. if more than four players of any level lower than 45 register) then we will have seperate level brackets. There is no entry fee for the tournaments, and winners will be rewarded with $info. All tournaments will start promptly at 8:00 PM EST. There is one catch...to keep with the giving nature of the entire event, the winner of each round will be required to shout out one tip that he or she has found helps them in duels*.
*Failure to provide a tip will result in a disqualification.
Thursday, March 9th - Gunslinger Tournament
If you're a gunner then Thursday will be your day to shine. Blow the dust off your Bedlams, and head to Sai Kung to battle it out with other ranged fighters.
Dress Code: No buffs, an outfit will be provided to you by the judges.
No Mobius Code
Roll outs allowed
Friday, March 10th - Hacker Tournament
Friday is the day to break out the H4X. Feel free to blast away at your opponant, or get stunned and laugh as his/her hacks bounce off your shield.
Dress Code: Anything.
Saturday, March 11th - Martial Arts Tournament
Boot to the head! Show your head booting ways on Saturday!
Dress Code: No buffs, an outfit will be provided to you by the judges.
No Mobius Code
No roll outs allowed
Sunday, March 12th - Anything Goes Tournament
On the final day of the event, there will be an Anything Goes Tourny. Assassins versus Force Multipliers...Knife Throwers versus Hackers...whatever you feel like loading. Buffs, ABs, Stun Pills, Mobius Code, roll out, roll back in...ANYthing goes*.
Dress Code: Anything goes.
To register for any of the tournaments, please send an in-game e-mail to Gryn. Registration ends 15 minutes prior to each tournament.

The echoes of gunfire rang loudly off the walls of the sewer. She ran through the darkness with hardly a clue of where she was going. A horrible odor of sewage and gunpowder filled her nostrils. More loud reports rang out from behind her. They were getting close, and she knew it. She kept running towards the splinter of light ahead of her. The distance to it was a mystery to her. Her eyes had still not adjusted. She was almost there, she knew it. The light kept growing.
After what seemed like an eternity she reached the source of the light. It was a crack in the wall, a wall that blocked any form of escape from the Agents behind her. She had no clue how far back they were, they ran pretty fast. Cursing to herself she looked around quickly. There was a small access tunnel to her left, buried under a mound of something she didn't want to recognize. The crack provided enough light for her to begrudgingly clear the entrance to the tunnel. A loud richochet bounced of the wall a few inches from her head. They had her now. No, she thought, there is no way in Hell that it's ending this way. She threw herself down the tunnel feet first as another shot planted itself into the wall where she had been a split second earlier.
She was picking up speed. The woman had no clue how far down this tunnel led. She thought that maybe she should have just let the Agents kill her. At least then she knew where her fate lay. She didn't even have time to prepare for the abrupt halt. The smell, couple with exhaustion, and the sudden stop caused her to retch. She could see nothing around her. All she knew was that she had definately broken a leg. Wiping her mouth, she attempted to stand only to collapse as she put weight on the injured leg. Yep, definately broken she though with a scoff. She brought her hand to cover her eyes as a spotlight burst to life in her face. Then another, and another. Three sillouettes stood in the light. They were Agents, she knew it from the way they carried themselves.
"The time for running is at an end Ms. Thomas. We have you now." The Agent reached up to touch his earpiece for a moment before continuing. "We tire of this game human. It is time to end it." He cocked his pistol and held it to her forehead. She lowered her eyes.
"End program!"
She looked around as everything stopped in its place. Freez's voice was a welcome sound at this point. These training regimes would be the death of her, she was sure of it. It was dangerous, and taxing, but Freez wanted his operatives in top knotch shape.
"Dxy what the hell is wrong with you?" The captain's voice boomed through the now empty construct.
"I couldn't...I couldn't outrun them Freez. I tried. I really did!"
"You let half your team bite it before calling a retreat order! Dammit girl, you do not engage Agents! How many times do I have to tell you this before you get it through your goddamn stubborn head?"
"I know! I know, I just got-" She started
"Got stupid." He sighed. "Gryn, get her out of here."
When she opened her eyes, the world around her was completely different. There was the unfamiliar feeling of the spike being removed from the back of her head. She figured after eight months of this she would finally be used to the feeling, but everytime it happened she would still sit up with a headache. Though this time a headache was the least of her worries. Dxy wiped her mouth and grimaced at the movement. She would definately be out of commision for a while until her leg healed. Freez and Gryn had written the training programs to mimic the Matrix in every way. Injuries sustained within the constructs carried over to the Real, as did death. It was a good thing that the members of her team were nothing more than simulacrum. At least then she wouldn't have the deaths of her crew to deal with on top of everything else.
"Let's unstrap her and get her to the infirmiry. Yuu, go ahead and let Petra know Dxy's paying her another visit." Freez ordered.
Yuu was a new recruit aboard the Borealis, freshly awakened. Her hair still hadn't grown out. She was short and lanky, with big feet. An oddly proportioned redpill. Yuu had been removed from the Matrix a few weeks ago by Freez and Dxy, and her awakening was purely accidental. Freez didn't really like waking bluepills up. As much as Zion needed the help, he didn't think it was right to just give everyone a wake up call.
Gryn leaned over and whispered to Dxy. "Don't worry about it. He's a real hard *CENSORED*, but he believes in you. He just wants to make sure you do good by him."
"I know." She whispered back, and took a sharp breath as she was lifted from the chair.
"That was absolutely disgusting. I have never in my life seen such a disregard of orders. You should be ashamed." Freez said rather loudly.
"Freez, lay off her man. She thought she could take care of things."
"Don't defend her actions Gryn. They showed no respect for the life of her team."
"Just quit being an **bleep** man. She's had a rough day." Gryn said softly, and began carrying Dxy to the infirmiry.
"What do we have here? The new money screw up again?" Petra said with a smile as Gryn walked into the small hospital.
"She just had an accident is all." He said as he laid Dxy down on the bed.
"That's not what I hear."
"Yeah well, speculation."
Petra sighed as she pulled her long red hair into a tight ponytail. She pulled up the leg of Dxy's pants to examine the injury. After a few moments she looked back to Gryn.
"Well, she's lucky it's not broken. I keep telling Freez that those **bleep** training programs need some limits to them. We've lost a couple because of it."
He sighed, running a hand through his thick black hair. "Yeah, I know. He wants it that way. Seperates the weak from the bold he says. It's a crock really. The constructs should resemble the Matrix as closely as they can, but not close enough to kill. Sometimes I think the council should have a word with him about his practices."
"He's already unpopular enough as it is." Petra replied as she began setting Dxy's leg.
"I swear the man has something against new recruits. Oh, did you hear?" Gryn said with a wide smile.
"Hmm?"
"They found the One."
Petra dropped her intruments, the sound echoing throughout the small room and spluttered. "They, they what?!" She scrambled to retrieve them.
"You mean to tell me you had no clue? The Neb has him, you know Morpheus' old barge?"
"Yeah I know about the Neb. But the One? They found him? How do they know?" Petra shot the questions off in rapid succession as she quickly finished with her patient.
"Well apparently it's some kid named Neo something or other. They're at broadcast right now meeting with the Frenchman about retrieving the Keymaker."
"So he IS the One then. Do you think the Prophecy is true then? I mean, if he's going to the Keymaker then it must be. The Oracle was right then, the war could finally be at an end." The young physician was excited, speaking very quickly now.
"Don't get your hopes up. That old bat knows a lot more than she should, but I doubt she's right about the One ending the war."
Petra nodded her head towards the small woman laying on the bed beside them. "She was right about her."
- Ten months earlier -
Freez pushed the hanging beads aside, and stepped into the small kitchen. The aroma of cookies filled the air. He looked around at his sparse surroundings. There was a small table in the corner in front of him. A modest counter with cups, and plates stacked one on top of another in a manner that defied gravity. There was an older looking woman sitting in a chair staring at the oven. He began to speak but was interrupted by a long, slender finger indicating he should shush.
"Just a second. They're almost done."
Freez sighed. The Oracle was nuttier than Morpheus, but she had requested to see him. A request not to be taken lightly. She always seemed to be baking cookies. Where they all went was a mystery to him, but he did not venture an answer.
"You wished to see me Oracle."
"Yep, guess I did didn't I?" She looked at him and motioned to the chair behind the table. "Have a seat, I'll be right with you."
Freez sat as he was told. He was not one to deny a request from the Oracle, as crazy as she was. He looked around again, shuffling nervously in his seat. He wondered why he was nervous, and silently wished to himself that he had the Oracle's "sight".
"Bet you're wondering why you're here aren't you?" Well, at least she has the ability to point out the obvious, Freez thought. He was snatched from his thoughts by the sound of a buzzer.
"I'm going to shoot straight with you Freez. You've got something that needs to be taken care of. Or rather someone." The Oracle said as she put on an oven mit and reached in to seize the baked goods.
"What are you talking about?" The Oracle was usually vague and never "shot straight" with anyone. His curiosity was piqued.
The Oracle stood up and slowly made her way to sit opposite Freez. She reached into her purse and retrieved a pack of cigarettes, a lighter, and a slip of paper. She lit a cigarette and pushed the latter towards Freez.
"You should be there. At that exact time. You'll know what to do."
His eyes darted across the slip, soaking in the information. "I want to know what this is all about."
"Not too bright are you? I've got a bit of advice for you. I know a lot about this and that, but not even I can see past the choices we don't understand."
"Do you always talk nonsense?" Freez criticized. He should learn to hold his tongue.
"Always the forceful one. You don't think before you speak. Not necessarily a bad quality. You have a choice to make Freez. You can either be there, at that exact time, and save a life. Or you can choose to ignore this, and plow through on your own path."
"And what happens if I am not there?"
"Like I said, we can't see past the choices we don't understand. Cookie?" She offered.
"No thank you. I will take my leave now."
"Suit yourself."
He paused at the overhang, lost in though. After almost an eternity he finally spoke. "I have made my choice."
"Hurry, you don't want to be late..."

This is a re-post of an old, and effectively lost forever idea I had
for a true Gunslinger tree. Kind of a combination of Wild West
gunslinger, and 1920's gangster style. Oh and Satiricon, if
you're reading this...I'm still working on Funslinger.
On to the main topic.
The Gunslinger tree doesn't replace the other Pistol tree, it's just
another choice for gunners. We'll start at level 17. All
levelable abilities upgrades are presented as though the ability itself
was already leveled to 50. Also, for all you die-hard RPers out
there, the RP value of the IS regen that the Gunslinger tertiary gives
you is that a true Gunslinger has been practicing with his/her weapon
of choice for a long time, and is therefor less likely to tire out from
exerting themselves.

Pistol Adept - Keep this ability loaded to deal more damage with your handgun.
Memory Cost : 2
