It's hard to think of what to say. I'm glad I didn't try reading this thread in the office; I'd have had to keep telling people passing by my cubicle that I had something in my eye.

I was asked in the game this evening if I expected all the people who re-subbed in the past few weeks to have come back like they have, and I really didn't. I fully expected this thread to devolve into flaming almost immediately and get locked. It just goes to show that even after years of eavesdropping on private channels and pouring through server chat logs, there are still a lot of things I have to learn about people.

I'd like to thank all the people who took the time to write. I'm especially awed by the posts here and there from people who've been here all along in the game, but haven't really visited the forums; those posts are somehow the most heartwrenching, I'm not sure why.

I'm glad you all have enjoyed the game one way or another. I hope that some of you who came back to say hello will stick around a bit. There are folks here who have missed you.

Ohh yeah here's that recipe:

Ingredients

One (1) slice cheap white bread

Two (2) slices cheddar cheese

1) Toast bread on lowest possible setting. Should still be white with just a few lightly tanned patches.

2) Layer cheese slices on toast, arranging for maximum coverage without sticking out over the edge.

3) Microwave on high for 2 minutes.

I didn't try to plan out stuff like that far in advance. Things like the Kid being shot down and getting scarred, Persephone trying to save Kroller and being nearly killed, lashing back at the Merv, stuff like that just happens as you get to thinking how you're going to execute certain story points, and what that would mean to the characters involved.

I gathered from that event (and some concurrent mentions in a crit...something The Oracle alluded to perhaps?) that there was to be kind of a Free Exile movement...programs that no longer wanted to be under the Merv's jurisdiction.  I read that event as egged on by Seraph, and for which the Morpheus Sim might have been the eventual leader.  Perhaps even shedding his Morpheus "shell" and forging his own seperate identity).  Reason being I figured the Merv was way overdue for another insurrection...aside from little dumb ones like Desayd the Nighmare, nothing really since the Invalesco thing waay back when.  But with this resulting in a full sub org of its own....bringing them into parity with Mechs and Zions with EPN / Cyphs. 

Just wondering, had you considered anything along those lines?

I didn't do events with the Monolith LET. I was just doing missions at the time, and the LET was kind of doing their own thing. I didn't start doing events until September 2005 (Death of the Destroyer), when we'd come over to SOE and the LET wasn't around to do them.

And there we are all caught up.

I was asked at the party if I had a favorite screenshot, and I said not really, there are too many, although I mentioned I liked the one I'm currently using for my av/sig, which was from a Syntax Machine event (where Wright killed that woman whose body the BIP was in at Club Koas). But this one above meant a lot to me too, even though it was posed. It was the first I showed of Datamine, I think (note the water is a funny bluish color because I was still running the winter weather), and it took a lot of takes, but I think it kind of captured the excitement I was feeling at the time. And I do like backflipping off things.

Hm I should add that I think there were Image Retrievals before these, these are just the ones that I did.
