The PvP Stereotype Thread.

The Suicide Bomber - This guy has no concept of team play. He wades into a pack of reds solo while his team watch in horror.

The Jumper - This guy seeks refuge in the clouds the moment you look at him wrong. Don't attack him because he may have a cardiac arrest IRL.

The Mouth - This guy will gob off every chance they get, especially in 12 vs. 3 situations. Rarely well met, or seen as funny or cool by anyone but himself.

The Vendetta - This guy will ignore everyone else except you, generally because you've been The Mouth. Worth letting him get the kill to get him off your back.

The Lagger - This guy is lagging every time they lose a fight. If it wasn't for that lag spike, he would have beaten you easy. Right?

The T-Bagger - This guy makes a habit of removing their pants /mood shifty and sitting over your face. Expect he's taking screen shots for a future PvP thread.

The Meatshield - This guy is exactly that. Someone to take the hits away from you. If you're a new player expect to be treated like a meatshield.

The Sneak - This guy won't ever be seen until you're in Interlock and they appear and stagger throw or snipe you. My personal most hated steriotype.

The Spammer - This guy has a uber Trauma build and he knows it. However only brings it out in a 12 vs. 3. Also known as the PvP killer.

The Juggernaut - This guy is buffed up to the MAX. Often an MA who will 3 shot you and most of your team before you can kill him.

The Buffbot - This guy stands right next to the HL and creates Juggernauts. He refuses to flag and wears all IS regen gear. Is also a Leech.

The Lowbie - This guy flags amongst 50's at level 28. He's often a Jumper too, when he's caught and killed he may become the Cryer.

The Crier - This guy feels PvP is so unfair and wants you to know all about it. Ganking, Zerging, Pills, it could be anything but it's not fair and he's hard done by.

The Leech - This guy is AFK while you're PvPing. He's also close enough to rack up any CQ you get. If you replace him he claims he was just about to flag.

The 1 Tree - This guy refuses to unload which ever tree he's using and load Howitzer, despite the fact your team is outnumbered 4:1

The Right Hand - This guy is amazing to have around, he saves you all the time and you save him. Generally a class that works in tandem with yours.

The Nemisis - The guy is your PvP bane. He's your number 1 priority, his body laying at your feet is all you strive for. Beware though he is generally a God.

The God - This guy is simply an amazing PvPer. He's cool calm and collected at all times. He doesn't panic, he knows his trees and when to do what. (Comserv)

The Quitter - This guy will flag once and once only. As soon as he's dead he will excuse himself and exit stage left. May become a Crier also.

The Stacker - This guy seems undecided about which tree he wants to load while standing near a HL, then becomes very hard to hit. Hmmm..

The Lug - This guy is carrying every Luggable he can find. He's a wanna-be Juggernaught but can still be a PvP problem.

The G - This guy PvPs in RP gear (rofl..) and unless he's a God (unbuffed Roca FTW) he's almost a non issue on the battlefield.

Now I am positive I neglected some, so please if you know other stereotypes post them here in the same format.

No idea what they're worth (or even where they come from) but if someone has some for sale let me know in game or here.

Having a small target of target pane would be nice.

Also, being able to see which buffs friendly or even hostile players have on them, signified by small icons would be helpful too.

Sitting by himself in Center Park, Comserv watched the blue pills walking by with interest. They seem so peaceful, so unaware. Often Comserv tried to remember his old life, when things must have been so much ‘simpler’.
Adrift with thoughts, he didn’t notice the two men in black suits walk up from behind him.

Agent Brown adjusted his cufflinks.

“I mean what’s the reason for this visit” Comserv said with a dry tone.

Reaching into his jacket pocket Agent Brown retrieves an envelope and hands it to Comserv.
Taking the envelope and tucking it away, Comserv looked at the agents standing in front of him. Standing up, he smiled at them again.

As the convoy got closer one of the sedans peeled off and parked to the side of the roller door while the truck and second sedan went through the open doorway. As soon as the truck was clear the heavy roller door was released and slammed closed.

Treble approached the black sedan outside and a tinted electric window came down.
“340 million. The weekly quota, filled.” A voice from within the sedan said.
“Good, good. The boss will be most pleased.”
“Well, as we both know, keeping the boss happy is in all of our interests.” A cigarette butt flew from the car and hit Treble on the shoulder.
“But in your interest more than anyone, Treble”

As the sedan pulled away from the building Treble pushed his glasses back up on his nose and murmured “Jerk”

Background:
An accounting program used for tracking inward and outward decibels from multiple high usage electricity conversion plants.
With the development of a more stable means to convert electricity within the Matrix,
the program Treble was no longer required and was scheduled for deletion.
Upon realization of this, Treble sought refuge from fellow exile the Merovingian.

Capability:
Treble is able to calculate and track numbers up to 20 decimal places, using any combination or permutation, coupled with any equation.

Situation:
Rouge exile program Treble has evaded deletion and harbored with the Merovingian.
Expect Treble to have a large protective force accompanying him at all times.

Mission:
Locate and delete Treble.
This will be done in three stages.
1. Location.
2. Deletion.
3. Extraction.

Execution:
Discretion is advised but not enforced.
Once you have located the exile use any means you deem necessary to destroy him.
Call Gvt. Arms for hardware support at any stage of the operation.

Administration and Logistics:
The cell phone that accompanies this statement has Gvt. Arms programmed
on speed dial 1.
Use this to coordinate hardware drops of weaponry or other supportive means

The lvl 50 PvP build flaming thread.

@ Hackers, why bother? Hacker is ez the most sure-fail build out there. u guys get rolled by just about everything, interlock is USELESS for u, ur lucky if an MA doesn't 2 shot u. root > run, run, run, throw some hax, run, run, run. Run is all u do everywhere anytime. load concentration nubs.

@ MA's, if ur not aikido its auto fail. ur not neo so dont even load it. utter failness outside of interlock.

I have Vista Ultimate OS on my PC, and the newest full version of Fraps (2.9.4) however after 40ish seconds of recording my frame rate drops to zero and the game freezes. I'm running both programs as Admin on Vista, and I've searched the net for a solution however have drawn blanks. If anyone has an answer as to why this issue is occurring I'd be most grateful.

Or if there is another filming source that won't suffer the same problem as Fraps is for me on Vista I'll happily purchase that program.

Ok so there is a new Datamine, with incentive for people to and farm themselves as much money as they like. The catch being you're liable to being attacked by anyone at any time, a Free For All zone. However the work around to a certain degree is to load Master Shadow. Now the activation time for MS is only very short, the activation time for Hyper Jump is even shorter. There are two easy escape mechanisms for escape right off the bat.

The only problem is that there are about 20x more people going into the Datamine to farm than there are people going in to PvP, and the fact that people who do go in there to PvP can actually kill each other with AOE and can't buff each other dispite being able to team together makes it much more restricting as a PvP zone. I'm under the impression MxO devs wanted people to PvP in there, I've even heard that very reason justified to why we get 150k+ per tap on most nodes (which is just silly, people would have been just as excited if it were 50-70k), because the risk is so high. Well, wake up call: THE RISK IS LOW.

In-keeping with the nature of the FFA zone, I went into the Datamine solo recently, with no intention to mine, but to try catch other players as they farmed. Now, /who tells me there are 8 players in there, other than myself. 7 of them are Master Shadows. This isn't such a problem for me because I'm currently a hacker, however if I were anything else it would be incredibly difficult to kill a Master Shadow on my own. Sniper/Assassin/MKT excluded. The fact that they don't want to fight and have those two escape methods and an Evade Shield makes it rather hard. So then you're faced with no option but to team with people to help. Nulling the purpose of the zone, I've *had* to team up, OR change to a different build or else there is just no chance of getting someone before MS is activated or they jump away.

So, there I'm left with endless chasing of people jumping around, or Master Shadow and not getting anything for it. The farmers are having fun strolling around tapping nodes getting rich, while I'm supposed to be in there stopping them. My suggestion is for a set of tools or consumables that allow the capture of people more easily, and some incentive for people to PvP in the zone.

An example might be:

"Anti-Gap remote"
-instant use-
Use: Stuns target enemy for 5 seconds and increases cast timer on abilities and by 50% for 10 seconds.

"Disruption Pill"
Use: Grants the user an aura of powerlessness (5 meter) and reduces movement speed of enemies within the aura by 50%

Now I just thought of those in 10 seconds, and I can safely say either of those would greatly increase the chances of killing Master Shadow's and other classes within the mine.

However in the end I'm just going to say that there is overall next to no threat in the Datamine and that the kind of $i people are getting shouldn't be so uncontended. Giving people a reason to not just farm info, but PvP in there would be a great move for the longevity of the zone.

Here is a collection of whispers and conversation with 'nightslife'.
Some of you may have seen nightslife in the Datamine complex tapping away at nodes, minding his own business. Some of you may have attacked him too. I have attacked him and killed him on many occasions, and while it's a Free For All zone and anything goes there is a side to it I didn't really account for. On one hand the underlying condition of the FFA zone is you're liable to be killed at any time, as the monetary rewards are very high and in fact it's people like myself that make the zone work, I and my friends spend hours running around killing other players in the Datamine because it's incredibly fun and lets face it, being able to draw that kind of info out of somewhere shouldn't be "free".

On the other hand I'm directly effecting someone's livelihood and income by doing this. So I'm now asking myself, how am I supposed to feel about killing this guy in the Datamine? Guilt? For making his life harder, and hindering his progress? Or am I doing the MxO community a favor by slowing the amount of $i available out there?

Thinking about running an Arena type setup once the FFA zone is released and died down a little. Essentially 2v2, 3v3 or 5v5 (*CENSORED* just like WoW) with a ladder system to determine the overall winning team. This of course goes on the assumption that:

Team members cannot attack each other
Team members can heal and buff each other
Team members cant hurt each other with AOE

So we find a nice quiet place in the FFA zone and the two teams can fight it out. Hopefully this will allow more people the chance to have some friendly PvP because there wont be such an issue with Org on Org fighting. At this stage I'm not thinking to make any restrictions at all on people's builds except possibly restricted to one of each title reading class (You could only have one MKT but could have an Assassin for example).

Thoughts on this?

So I've been away for a good 12 months, showing up now and again for different reasons (WoW goes down, 01 wars etc)
So fill me in on what's been going on at home on Syntax.

New faces, new factions, PvP, power struggles, old faces coming back. Don't bother with the story I never really followed it too close, unless it's something worthy of note e.g Zion and Machine truce falling out.

What's the goss?

I don't think I missed it, I think it was never released to the players.
CR2.0 has been out for many months now, people have almost (ALMOST) forgotten about the old style of combat.

However there are so many issues that have not been addressed, aka: an official guide.

I'm talking about the justification to enhanced clothing, as in why there are 1% - 4% enhancement buffs and what exactly they contribute.
The way we have CT and accuracy points and percentage, what does that equate to?
Defence is the same, how exactly does wearing or loading certain things benifit you?
Confusing things for most people that remember the old style where Armour Peircing actually meant something.
Explain why certain classes are weaker against others.
To be able to know what you're doing to your characters capability by doing anything in the game these days.

I'm talking about a serious breakdown of the Combat Revision 2.0 and explinations in full about what does what and why.
I don't understand how it has gone so long with people not understanding exactly how it works and not demanding a complete explaination of the combat system. I don't think I'm the only one who feels this way, and unless I really did miss the Memo with the complete guide, it needs to be released.

As far as I've seen the only place to get an official ruling on things is in the "Ask a dev an MxO question" thread or if one decides to post in a thread that has a debated question in it.

I think we all could use an offical guide.

With the recent tournament activity on Syntax, I'm gonna keep the tempo going and host an MA tourney.

Entry fee: $i 500,000
((All procedes will go to the victor, 2nd place just means you come first at losing.))

Rulings:

1. No consumables of ANY kind. Stakes, HolyWater, Silver Bullets, Pills, TBs. None.

2. No Mobius Code. If you have this ability, either don't load it, or take it off your HotBar.
    If you use this you will be removed from the competition and concede the win.

3. Before each fight you will accept a duel from the staff and sit down to be defeated.
    Doing so will ensure there are no buffs or consumables running on your RSI.

Location: Sai Kung Dojo. In the buliding accross the bridge from Sai Kung Central Hard Line.

Time: Saturday; 10pm ((2200)) GMT.
             Don't ask me to convert the time for you, I barely understand it myself. All I know is that's 8am on Sunday morning for me.

Cut off time for entry is 15 minutes before the start of this Tournament. If you don't get 500k to me and register, then you miss out.

Let's make it a good tourney, have some fun. There are some great MA's out there, I'd like to see a large turn out.

Whilst in Sakura I was invited to a mission team from another player of higher level so we could utilise the 'team chat' feature instead of sending tells. I would recieve the mission chat from the mission NPCs and the mission objectives would come up on my screen. I would even recieve reputation from completion of the mission.

Then suddenly this happened:

I am guessing they are an 'ambush mob' from moving between mission areas as an influence from the outside member running missions.

To my old factions,

5 Deadly Venoms: My first faction, I was a mere level 5 nubby when I joined and although I left around level 8 it was good to meet the likes of Konaboy, bhee123 and JohnShadows. Glad you guy went Machine and although 5DV went under to g7g, it was fun. I'll always remember using a lvl 5 hack on a the guy that recruited me.

The logical imperative: My first Machine faction. am3, I havn't seen you in an age but your help on missions and patience when I would insist on charging into mission areas and dying will always appreciated SMILEY

I also met d3athblad3 here and we still fight together to this day.

ZER0 0NE: It was myself, FuturePerfect, LostLamb and Dele7e who made this faction and built it from the ground up. For a time we always had people on and it was some of the most fun I've had in the game to date. Grinding and laughing the whole time. The people I met there will always be my friends and I miss those who dont play any longer a great deal. Thats you Lambo rofl.

The 4 Horsemen: The chances are if you know me you met me while I was a member of 4H. Without question the most influential faction of my MxO gaming time. I learned so much from them and went from a level 50 n00b to the decent fighter I am today (actually I rate myself better than decent lmao). From 100 CQ to thousands of CQ and more advice about load-outs, clothing and game mechanics than I ever thought I'd recieve. Not only that, a group of friends I'll always play games with and I'll be joining them all shortly with another game. My favourite faction and best memories come from them.

The Tetragrammaton: To bad it didn't work out, I liked the uniform, it was slimming. -laughs-

I never really gave it much of a chance, I just had to fight with my old faction buddies. I'm sure you understand.

Outlawz: It was a good idea Muss, a shame it didn't come good.

Consequence: The closest to 4H that I had found since I left. Strong, active, diverse and proud.

I had more LESIG and RP time with you guys than in the whole time I'd played MxO, and I actually really liked being Merv for the first time ever. I always enjoyed fighting against you in PvP and liked it almost as much fighting for you.

D3athBlad3 From when I met you and you were lvl 23 to the PvP we teamed in at lvl 50 I've always respected you. You're a great knifer and have ties to PvP and RP, something many find a hard thing to do.

Endomorph You nub, load VD! Glad you got to 50 big guy, took you long enough haha, but that is because you where in Mara C throwing up your flag from lvl 40 onwards. Keep at it man, you can be great with some practice. Always made me laugh man.

Espi A classic Espi moment. I find Espi fighting a Zion in PvP, I kill Espi and then kill the Zion. Espi: "because you know you cant kill me one-on-one" Coms: "Nope, but I can kill both of you"

Jury From box4's to PvP we always pwn3d together. In fact, we even did both at once. One of the greatest battles with you as a rifles and me as UM with delete upgrades. We held off the scrubs in Downers for ages and walked away tall. Wish I had stayed longer in tetra, we would have had a solid PvP team man.

Keey The first to show me the knife combo to kill a lvl 50, and the owner of Sise, another worthy opponent in duels. Had a great time at your white party and have missed you ever since SMILEY

LostLamb Took me from lvl 45 to 50 on box3's. Knew her from lvl 18 to the end of her time in MxO and laughed together the whole time. The backbone of my old faction ZER0 0NE and the teacher of the solo box3 FM load (that I later tweaked)

Why?

It makes the Machines look weak and it's not like Zion need more numbers when fighting the Mervs.

Personally when I heard about the truce I was disappointed, and even more disappointed when fellow Machines are sending me tells about not attacking Zion members. Why shouldn't I? I was never asked if i wanted to go along with it, it was decided by I don't even know who and everyone seems ok to just bend over and follow. I'm sure the Mervs are laughing at us all right now. I know I would be, because what has it changed?

I'm pretty sure most of the Zion PvPers know that I'm not taking part in the truce and am more than happy to attack and be attacked by them. I wish other Machines would forget the truce. Half the time it seems that it's just a matter of "oh we'll follow it for now, but if we run out of red, you're next"

Is there even a goal we're aiming for? To suppress the Mervs from PvP? Impossible, and who wants that anyway? The truce sounds like an RP decision to me, but like many others I'm not an RPer. One member of a large RP Machine faction called me a traitor for killing a Zion in front of him, I was shocked.

Many Machines I know would shoot a Zion over a Merv, but are still taking part in this truce.

Are the same people who decided to truce, who made a decision on the behalf of all the players of their org (which in my eyes is just presumptuous and a bit rude) going to be the ones who call it off? And if so when? What is the goal you are trying to achieve and how can you make it happen with this truce?

These truces can never last, and when it ends there will be a big PvP battle. I only hope I am there to join in the fun we have all been missing out on for too long already.

This has happened twice now since I have started coding, I code a heap of abilities and then instead of being able to code the green frags because I don't have them, they red out and I'm cut short.

I go to the loading bay, check my code/inventory and yep, I've still got an abundance of bits.

So I'm wondering why this has happened? All I can think of is that I don't have the bits I need to code the green frag needed for the ability, but as far as I can tell I have tons of them.

It's not through lack of skills in coding either, with buffed clothing I have a level 70 equivalent for coding, at level 44 I can code level 50 abilities no problem.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks,

I have just done a system recovery on my compter and have lost all the programs I had installed, including the Matrix online. So I'm attempting to reinstall MxO onto my computer and it all goes fine until the 2 second disk where I get a Windows - Wrong volume window pop up.

It says "The wrong volume is in the disk drive. Please insert volume Disk1 into drive E:"

I don't have a volume Disk1 to give it, or even know what that is.

None of the three buttons on the message (Cancel, try again, continue) do anything to help me either.

If anyone could help me understand what I must do to get the game back up I would be most thankful.

An all female event, unless there is popular demand for male RSI participants, in which

the lady will walk along a specified area wearing her chosen outfit, pause, pose, turn and walk back.

Depending on the amount of entries will determine the times an entrant can walk.

Judges look for outfit, originality, style, accuracy (as in didn't walk outside of the area) and their decision is final. I may need a hand with the judging too so hands up who can help.

I'd like to get this happening soon but this thread is just to get some feedback and possible ideas.

In my personal experiance of the constructs people go there to take down the boss character and try and claim the drop/drops the boss has.

What are peoples thoughts of being attacked by an opposite org member when trying to kill a construct boss? Personally I crave for pvp because I play on Syntax but only 50's ever seem to flag, and I don't want to feel guilty or have people come back to me later and say "why did you kill me inside the construct?"

I like the saying, if it's red it's dead, and this is what the constructs were meant for right?

What are your thoughts?
