  ## INCOMING TRANSMISSION ##
FROM: ZIMBIA

##

On a mission my headjack got a bit damaged, as i unexpectedly woke up from the connection to the matrix, and jumped up from the chair. I can tell you, it hurt. Fortunately the damage is not as big as Tyndalls, but i won't be able to jack in for a while, as my headjack is repaired. I don't know how long it takes, but i've heard it's gonna be a longer time.

The hope is not lost.

## END ##

So what i'm saying is, i'm cancelling my account. The game is quite boring for me atm, but i'll be back after CU2.0 and other updates. I won't be uninstalling.

Until then, cya.

Well i guess nowadays, everyone playing a "movie"/major character is considered a member of a "LET".

Having said that, sure it would be nice if Agent Gray would meet the first in Mara saying:

"To further solidify the truce, we have invited not just our Machine operatives, but also the Zion operatives to this instance of the Matrix. We use this to test and hunt down bugs in the Matrix, and normally only machine programs are allowed in here. But we need you free humans now here to test the Matrix along with us. Welcome. And for the Merovingians, we won't stop you, but only Merovingian humans are allowed, as programs can carry viruses."

Or something along those lines.

You could just drag it from the View Stacked Clothing Articles-window

then when unstacking the one that has the cassociated version the
associated version would just be deleted to prevent a major exploit.
Development Discussion Development Roundtable Outfit inventory tweak Outfit inventory tweak Zimb 0 01/04/2006 04:02
This is a easy-to-implement way to fast change your clothing without macros:

The idea is to stack the clothes in one "outfit stack" or whatever you
like to call it. So you have, for example, a hat. When you drag other
clothing items onto the hat, a coat for example, they would both stack
in one inventory slot. Then you can drag your shoes, glasses, shirts
and gloves and pants onto the outfit stack. Only one of each clothing
item (one pair of shoes, one hat, one coat and so on) can be in one
stack. Duoble-click the stack like you would equip a normal clothing
article, and the whole clothing set would be eqipped, and the old one
would stack in your inventory. Right-click an outfit stack, and there
would be an option to view all stacked items, and to unstack all items.
Placing an outfit stack in the hotbar and clicking on it would of
course also equip the stack.

What do you think?

He watched the new PDA appear on a plate that lay on the desk. It was a
very advanced PDA, had everything you ever could need. Again had he
mastered a new coding language. Soon Hale was admiring the great work.

"Excellent. Congartulations, you are now a Programmer. We've rewritten your RSI's data, and you are now a program."

"You WHAT? I liked being human!" Craig shouted in suprise.

"I'm sure you liked it. and i'm sure you will like being a
programmer even more. You see, programmers cannot be deleted.
Programmers delete."

   "Well, that's nice to hear..."

"Yes, ain't it?" said hale. "Here's your first assignment: Reprogram the Matrix."

"Sure, but it's a big thing to do..." Craig said.

"Im sure you can handle it. All other Programmers will be working for you. You are in charge of the Matrix."

Craig coded and coded. He rewrote every single one-byte
program he found, so it would suit everyone in the Matrix. It would
suit the psychos, the policemen, the drugdealers, the law-abiding
citizens, the prisoners, the exiles, the free humans, the Agents, the
crazy scientists, the normal scientists, the movieproducers, the
butchers, the plumbers, the barbers and the Programmers and everyone
else.

"Umm...what kind of help you need?"

"Oh, you know, feedback and such stuff, but most
importantly, coding help. And according to our statistics, you are the
best", said Hale.

"Oh am i? That's...suprising..." Craig was indeed suprised. He, he alone, was the best coder in the world!

"Well, i guess you need to learn everything about the
Matrix before you begin your work. You see, the powerplant is so big,
that we really don't know which one is your pod. Yet. Take this pill,
and when you wake up, you know everything there is to know about the
Matrix." Hale offered him a red pill. He coded a glass with water, and
gave it to Craig. Craig swallowed the pill, and instantly became a bit
tired.

"That pill helps us locate your pod, and it makes you
sleep, so you can intake all this information we are about to load into
your head. It may feel, a bit weird." Craig instantly fell into sleep.

24 hours later, he woke up. He felt like his head had been crushed,
healed, crushed and healed again forever. he had a headache, and he
didn't feel too good at all. He was alone in a room. It was a very nice
room, many paintings on the wall, big, and very clean. Apparently he
sat ebhind a desk, with the most advanced supercomputer he had ever
seen. When he looked towards the door, the room just seemed to continue
to grow in length. Then the growing stopped, and the room became
smaller, for every second. Then, the walls alarmingly near him, the
room expanded with a sound, and the walls fell back to their real
positions. He had been hallucinating. Now he was feeling very good, and
the room wasn't so big anymore. And he knew everyhting.

"Hello." said hale who had stepped throught the door.
"Before you ask, you will not be unplugged from the powerplant in the
near future, we need you jacked in." He paused. "Now i want you to code
me a PDA."

"WHAT? How do i do that?"

"Well, as you're only learning, you need the computer.
How, use the Pandora Code. Everyhting here in the Matrix is build of
Pandora Code. The green code you see when you look at the Matrix in the
real world, is just Matrix code. It's uneditable. The Pandora code, on
the other hand, is what we Programmers use to code the Matrix. It's
purple, if viewed in compiled form. We'we taught you how to code
Pandora, so now get coding.

Craig started his computer, and suddenly he got the
Pandora code dug out from the darkest corners of his brain, and he
could begin. The computer screen was totally black, except for a bright
purple cursor in the upper left corner. He looked down, and saw his
keyboard. It was full of pandora letters, they looked Asian. He pressed
one of the keys. Then another. Then his fingers were razing across the
keyboard, writing lightning-fast. On the screen code began to form. He
paused and looked behind the code, like he had done in his own office.
He saw what he had coded, the first chip of the PDA. He continued to
code. In a few hours, he was ready, and typed:

CodeComplete=Yes

//Render

Then after a few minutes, the compter returned

Render complete

The elevator let out a "bling"-sound, and the doors opened. The man in
the suit walked towards the end of the corridor, and Craig followed
him. At the end of the corridor he saw two big doors. There was a sign
over them that read "Matrix World Administration".

"Through there", the man in the suit said, and walked
through a smaller door, situated near the big doors. Craig was a bit
confused, but walked opened the big doors and walked through.

Inside he saw nothing really fantastic. It was a normal
office with cubicles, but it was much quieter than a normal office,
there was just the sound of hundreds of hands writing on keyboards. The
man in the black suit was nowhere to be seen, though Craig was almost
sure the small door also led to this big room, though he couln't see
the door. At the end of the corrior of cubicles, he saw a desk, with a
woman writing on a keyboard. She looked a bit like the woman in the
lobby, he observed. But nothing really intrigued him anymore. He walked
up to the desk and asked for Hale Grey.

"Sorry, noone with that name can be found here." she said without even looking up from the screen.

"I'm sure he works here", said Craig determined.

"So am i, he just isn't here at the moment". Now she
looked up, with a sarcastic face. "He's back soon, though. Who's
waiting for him?"

"Craig Johnsson" he said, and she wrote it into her
computer. At the same time, the big doors on the other side of the room
opened, and a man walked in. He walked straight up to the desk, and
said to Craig:

"Greetings, Mr. Johnsson. I'm Hale Grey, i'm a world
engineer. But that you can't know right now. Come int o my office, and
i'll tell you everything.

Quiet, he followed mr. Grey to his office, in the east part of the big office.

"So, i guess you're itching to know why you're looking for me?" he asked as the door slammed shut.

   "Umm...yes, i guess" said Craig.

"Ok, listen up, because this is important. This is the
Matrix. It's the world that you have been living in since you were
"born". It's basically a computer program, a computer-made world, a bit
like a computer game, but much much much much much more advanced. I
know you are familiar with coding and computers, that's infact why you
are here. So, the Matrix was made by the Machines, to have some place
to put the humans, that we are using to get power, in the real world.
There is many videos and documents about the history of the Matrix, so
i won't bore you with that now. then there is Zionists, and theyre
basically human, the only free humans in the world. Theyre constanlty
freeing other humans from the Matrix. Machines and Zionists have a
truce, a tiny one. Then there's the third wheel, the Merovingian. He is
a program that is in controll over most of the rogue exiles here in the
Matrix, and has formed his own organisation.

And this is from where the Machines administer the Matrix.
We repair glitches, make new stuff and remove stuff, code programs,
delete programs and so on. I am a program, for example."

"Wow...i'm feeling dizzy...all this..." Craig said, holding his head in his hands.

"Yes, the information can make anyone feel bad. Anyway,
Everyone that works here are programs. The most efficient and powerful
and intelligent programs ever made. We can basically do everything you
can do in the Matrix. We are called Programmers. The next-most powerful
programs are the Agents. They are clad in black suits and sunglasses. They could kill you just by touching with a
finger." He watched Craigs
reaction before continuing. "So could i, so could any Programmer. But
we weren't made to kill people, we were made to administer the Matrix.
And that's what we are doing."

"So, where do i come in?" Craig asked.

"Oh, you know that already. We need your help. We need
help from someone that has lived in the Matrix for all his life."

------

That's everything for today.

"Hmm, looks like it has some kind of glitch", he
thought, and looked again at the other emails from Hale Grey. He then
noticed the addresses to some kind of Matrix World Engineering Office
in Downtown.
Since he went "digital" he hadn't cared much for addresses, only email addresses.

"Nothing to lose", he said for himself and grabbed his collective
traffic ticket and headed to the nearest subway. Once in Park East, he
went to the address he got from the email.

The Matrix World Engineering Office building was not very small.
Actually it was one of the biggest buildings in the city. The building
had nothing on it to announce what building it was, but it was on the
right address. And when he got near the door, he saw that the Matrix
World Engineering had an office in it.

In the lobby, he asked the lady behind the counter on which floor the Matrix World Engineering Office was, and she asked him:

   "Zion, Machines or Merovingian?"

"Ummm...............Do i need to pick one?"

   "Yes. Zion, Machines or Merovingian?"

"Pfffft, let's say Zion". The next thing he knew was that he was
lying on the street outside the building. Bravely, he walked in again.
He was determined to see Hale Grey.

"Oh, it's you again. Didn't you get that Zionists are not allowed into the Matrix Engineering Office?"

"Okay, okay, okay. I'm neither. Not Zion, not Machine, and not a ancient french king." he said desperately.

"Bluepill, eh?" said the woman, and on the same second she
dissappeared between two blue squares, to be replaced by a man in a
black suit and sunglasses.

"You are not authorized in this area. This is a government building."

"Umm...sure, well i just wanted to see Hale Grey..."

   "Very well. Follow me."

Welcome to the Matrix SMILEY

Development Discussion Development Roundtable BIG projects for the devs to consider BIG projects for the devs to consider Zimb 0 12/26/2005 03:45
All these require, i think, a new system for each of them. But it's worth it. They are in no order of neededness or goodness.

1. Character body customization

I've already made a topic about a possible way to do this, here

2. New mission system

Team vs team, crew vs crew, player vs other player, more interaction, the works. Rarebit, i know you want this :smileywink:

3. New item system (add buffs, change colour, silence weapons, etc.
This is really why i made this topic, so it's gonna be a longer read :smileytongue:)

We all know (we who have read the ask the devs thread), that with
the current system, making custom buffs and changing colours, a very
very very very large database is needed, for every possible combination
of buffs and colours for one item. So, the new system would be like
this:

Of every item there would be made a colourless, buffless template, one
for each gender, and to it you could add buffs, make it into a new
colour, add a silencer for weapons, what ever you want. Every item
would be deleted, and replaced with a template, except those in peoples
inventories, which would still be in circulation, but would follow the
rules of templates. Decompiling such an item would extract the buffs,
which would, in extracted form, be Buff Fragments. The colour of the
item would be seen in extracted form as a Dye Fragment, or Colour
Fragment. The decompiled item would of course also give codebits.

When you make a new item, let's say a new shirt, you would first select
the shirt template. Then there would be a button with the caption
"Buffs". Click it, and a new window would appear, the buff panel, there
would be a checkbox and a slider (for the power of the buff) for every
buff fragment you have. Now, when increasing the power of the buff,
every 5 steps would require a new buff fragment of the same buff. The
max power depends on the buff. When going over 10, every 3 steps would
require a new buff fragment of the same buff.

There would also be a "colour" button. This would simply bring up a
colour chart of all the available item colours in-game. Changing the
colour would require ONE dye fragment, they don't have versions for
every colour. The more buffs, the higher level is the item, and,
following the rules of cause and effect, the more difficult it would be
to code the item.

Now, the item would only exist in the client, as the server database
only has one template of each item. When an item is made, it would be
uploaded to the PIDB, Player Items DataBase. This database would, of
course, grow very big. But when a item loses it's stability, or when
it's recycled or sold to a vendor, the item would be deleted from the
PIDB. The stuff that would be uploaded to the PIDB would be in simple
text form, telling the sever which template it's made of and which
colour it is. No need to upload the buffs. Now when the player enters
the matrix, the other players clients would see the player, download
it's clothes parameters from the PIDB, and see the player like he/she
is. As every clothing file would only be like

Template=Arasiki driving gloves

Colour=black

the file would be very small, and cause no lag whatsoever. The client
that downloaded this info would show the Arasiki driving gloves
template, coloured black, on the screen. When fighting the player, the
buffs calculations would be client-side.

I want my loot!

Using this system, there would be no ready loots for the player.
There doesn't need to be. When opening a drawer, for example, the
client would fast as ligthning randomly throw together an item, taking
only one command from the server into consideration; Buffs, Yes or no. Of course, using this system, all loot would be different from players in a team, depending on who's the looter is.

So, these customly made clothes would be decompilable just like normal clothes, and tradeable just like normal clothes.

Devs would also all the time make new templates :smileytongue:

Getting buff and dye fragments

They would come from loot, old clothes that weren't deleted, and
new clothes that were customly coded and decompiled. Also, a number of
vendors would be selling them.

Development Discussion Development Roundtable Gender-specific items Gender-specific items Zimb 0 12/24/2005 01:36
This small issue has been bugging me for some time. How hard would it
be to implement items that are usable for both sexes? For example,
program launchers, they are exactly the same, but there's versions for
both sexes.  Or plain male T-shirts could also be a intersex item.
Or the party hats. The list goes on.

Now the second point. How hard would it be to make drops detect gender?
Many RPG's can make drops for the gender of the person that loots it.
Why not MxO?

Development Discussion Development Roundtable Idea about more advanced character customization Idea about more advanced character customization Zimb 0 12/24/2005 01:26
In the ask the devs-thread, Rarebit answered a question about charatcer
customization. The answer was that it would be very difficult to
implement this without lag, as the server needs to send all kinds of
information to all the clients that view the character. So, my
suggestion is this:

When changing something other than clothes, it would be done from the
loading area. And when the change is made, let's say a new hairstyle,
the client makes an image of the new RSI. When you then jack into the
matrix again, this image is sent to the server, which then sends it out
to the other clients viewing the RSI in the world.

Example: You make a new wallpaper in photoshop. It has many layers,
matrix code, many cut-out RSI's, blur on some places, grids, matrix
text and so on. You save the file as a .psd file (or .pspimage in paint
shop pro). Now the file is very large. So let's make the file into an
RSI. It's sent to the server, and then from there out to the other
clients. Now you change soemthing in the .psd file. You add some more
code. Now the RSI data that is sent out to the server is chnaged, and
the server looks for the new part in the database, and compiles the
RSI, and sends it out ot the other clients. But, now you save your
wallpaper as a .jpg file. All layers, everything, is compressed into
one one image, and a quite small filesize.

This is what would happen when you change the hairstyle on your RSI.
The image would update. Now, as far as i understood, the server has
every clothing piece stored, and just dresses the RSI, and sends it out
to the other clients. The complication was that when modifying bodies,
all kinds of body parts would have to be stored on the server. But with
this idea, nothing like this needs to be stored in the server, except
clothes, that would work like it does now, the RSI body comes fro the
client. And when changing from the loading area, the client has even
more time to make the image and upload it to the server.

Hopefully you understood the messy text! Merry christmas :smileytongue:

From
the Zion and Merv criticals I've done it seems he is a redpill and is
associated with the cypherites. It is even said that he was friends
with Cypher before he turned. So yes Cryptos is a disaffected redpill
and a prime candidate to be in the Cypherite organization. And as to
the OP thoughts...i think they are maskless because their identities
are already known..whats the use of wearing a mask now?

Oh well...haven't done the latest crits yet, and haven't even finished the previous batch:smileyindifferent: And that was just something i heard, and it sounded nice :smileytongue:

Community General Discussion Cryptos and Veil... Maskless? Re: Cryptos and Veil... Maskless? Zimb 0 12/23/2005 02:33
Well, everyone knows who Veil is at this point, so a mask would be kind
of useless. And it's a symbol for courage, as somebody already said.

Are the rumors I am hearing

I
DOUBT someone would buy something for a few millions (dunno how much the
game cost for SOE), just to dump it in the near future. So i guess SOE
have plans for it, or else they wouldn't have bought it.
