Well can you blame SOE for grabbing a few of the talented mxO developers and putting them into projects that may become succesful? I don't know what rose colored glasses or pills you guys are on, but MxO has been considered a failure since the begining. It failed when Monolith had it, and it failed when SOE had it. People complained imensely about MxO when monolith had it, people complain immensely when SOE had it. Nothing at all has changed since day 1, and the final days of MxO. DC Universe has like, what... 70 years worth of history they can put into a game and a very large fanbase. The Matrix has a very devided fan base, and a very nit picky and angsty fanbase. Nothing will ever make a Matrix fan happy, not as long as it doesn't live up to what their expectations for the franchise are. Thats what happened with Reloaded and Revolutions, and what happened with Rarebit's events and story lines. MxO was destined to fail, they had too small of a fanbase support to carry the game and the game was way too glitchy to keep the non-Matrix fans in the game. Sorry, but thats the truth.

Maybe because Method was drama-central that you saw all that complaining, but I can say that everything was just dandy on Regression.  Seriously, I never saw any complaining and the only negative things I saw in official sources were things about bugs and performance; all of which were fixed.  And the things you've said about MxO's fanbase can honestly be applied to ANY fanbase; DC Universe included.

The Matrix Online was never -given- the chance to succeed.  Monolith was overambitious with their ideas and the game cost too much to operate.  However, it had a very large playerbase in the beginning that remained active until Live Events started slowing down and the transition to SOE happened.  Monolith understood that they could not operate the game as they had planned, which is why they let it go.  Monolith understood what was important in this game, whereas SOE never has.  The biggest dips in player population have been with cuts associated with live events and on-going story.  And when do we see the biggest influx of resubs and new players?  That's right, whenever big events are planned.

This game NEEDS a Live Events team to succeed.  That is what it was built around.  Monolith had too large of a team; SOE had too little.

All that aside, DC Universe is destined to fail.  This is what SOE is not understanding...  they are trying to compete in a genre that another company already has superiority in.  Going against CoX / Champions Online is just stupid.  However, with the Matrix Online, they have a completely untouched genre that people will play if handled correctly.  My point is, they are focusing on a game that has little to no chance for success, using the engine of another game that has once shown success.  Why not concentrate on the game that you know can succeed with the right tools?

Unfortunately, they've really screwed the pooch...  with the failure of SWG and MxO at their hands, and the soon to be failure of DCUO, no company in their right mind will ever allow their IPs into SOE's hands.  They've become the Uwe Bole of MMOs.

I was talking about the General forums where people were complaining about the bugs and Monolith and all that jazz :p, not the Method ones where people were complaining about 1000 year old Lesbian Vampires and all that stuff. If Monolith understood what was important to the game, why did they sell us out? You give Monolith too big of credit, Monolith should have never tried to develop MMOs, they excelled at single player experiences. And honostly, all MMOs that are not named  World of Warcraft are destined to fail, WoW controls too much of the market. Well, all MMOs that are based on the ground at least, I have a good feeling that Star Trek Online will be different enough to have its own nice little corner in the market.

Stay on Syntax, if you want people to interact with thats your best bet. Sorry about the lag, you'll get used to it :p And no, you can't transfer characters. Sorry : / But leveling up doesn't take too long, so if you want to give Recursion a spin just start grinding there.

Have RP with a tree, although their dialogue gets a little wooden at times.

Its the same reason why Wolverine won't be in the Captain America movie or in the Avengers, Fox owns the movie character of Wolverine and the X-Men, while Marvel movie studios owns Captain America, there is a lot of legal mumbo jumbo. So you won't see Wolverine and Captain America side by side  on the silver screen until Wolverine goes back to Marvel's hands (along with Spider-man)

A Swedish company has been fined 25,000 kronor ($3,000) after a malfunctioning robot attacked and almost killed one of its workers at a factory north of Stockholm.

Public prosecutor Leif Johansson mulled pressing charges against the firm but eventually opted to settle for a fine.

"I've never heard of a robot attacking somebody like this," he told news agency TT.

The incident took place in June 2007 at a factory in Bålsta, north of Stockholm, when the industrial worker was trying to carry out maintenance on a defective machine generally used to lift heavy rocks. Thinking he had cut off the power supply, the man approached the robot with no sense of trepidation.

But the robot suddenly came to life and grabbed a tight hold of the victim's head. The man succeeded in defending himself but not before suffering serious injuries.

"The man was very lucky. He broke four ribs and came close to losing his life," said Leif Johansson.

The matter was subject to an investigation by both the Swedish Work Environment Authority (Arbetsmiljöverket) and the police.

Prosecutor Johansson chastised the company for its inadequate safety procedures but he also placed part of the blame on the injured worker.
