It looks a lot like the previous 3D Castlevania games, just with a little more speed and style. Not that this is a bad thing, as those games weren't anywhere near as bad as their reputation implies (well, except for the N64 Castlevanias that is). Definitely liking the huge epic bosses too. Personally I'm just hoping it strays from the Metroidvania archetype even a little bit. That explore, find item, backtrack, use item, explore, find item, backtrack, Zzzzz... pattern is just not that fun anymore (in any game, really *glances at Zelda*).

Had some time to play around with the Patch and am greatly enjoying it.. although the 1.2 version just adds far too many overdone effects and whatnot to combat for my tastes. What I would personally really like is an update to the 1.1 patch that would swap the wings to something other than the earpiece.. I <3 my earpiece and would much rather the wings be a replacement for something easily available that no one actually wears, like a baseball cap.

Definitely in favour of some sort of "official" home after this one closes down, whether it's one that currently exists or something yet to be created.

Yep. I've seen that video a couple times now. It looks and sounds like a 3rd person team based shooter that supposedly has a persistent world attached to it.. it actually sounds a lot more like a futuristic The Agency than anything like MxO. Well, I guess GA does have the ability to hyperjump if you choose that augmentation.

As do I. It doesn't have near enough depth to be my "main" game, but it's a great side game with all of the different activities and the relatively simple and mindless optional combat. It is definitely not to everyone's taste though so I can fully understand those to whom it gave queasy stomachs and/or bleeding eyes.

Hi folks,
I understand the confusion for those folks who have resubbed since the email notice went out. We are in discussions about how we're going to deal with the issue and will have an answer for you as soon as possible. Unfortunately, those discussions are taking a bit longer than usual due to key folks being in transit from E3.
The answer may not come today, but we are looking into it. Raijiin and Virrago will have an answer as soon as I can get them one.
-Walrus I've said it earlier today, and I know I'm not the only one, but there is only one way to "deal with the issue": get the players back in the game. There really isn't anything to discuss. You may be discussing the ways in which you can do this if it's not a simple flip of the switch to turn things back on deal, but you should not be discussing if you can. You have admitted your faults and lack of attention to MxO in recent months, which is much appreciated, but you are probably the only one with enough authority to really go to bat for us in the here and now. For the last time, we need you to stand up for MxO.

Just the simple thought that there is anything to discuss here is silly.. I know Raijinn and Virrago don't have the ability to do what we want/need them to do (the obvious, reactivate the accounts). What I would like to know, however, is where Walrus is.

Raijinn posted: We understand the problem that you all are having and how it's pretty confusing, was it June 1st that was the cutoff or May 27th? I know that's what you all are asking since you've only seen the 1st mentioned as the deadline. Needless to say we're discussing the matter here as well and while I don't have anything official to mention as of right now, we hope that we'll have something to tell you all in the near future. Sorry folks!
It's pretty clear actually, June 1st was the cut off. That was the date in the email sent out, that's the date given by both yourself, Raijinn, and Walrus and no one corrected it. If the tech staff were given a different date, that's a SOE problem and not ours. There is no such thing as an "invisible deadline" or whatever nonsense the CSRs are spouting. We received the email or got word to check the message board and we re-subbed or made sure we had renewed our sub before the given date.. some of us, from the sounds of it, even beat that date and still are experiencing the same problem. I appreciate you and Virrago going to bat for us when it seems no one else is, and I don't know what the exact solution should be, but at least part of it is giving access back to all of those who subbed in time and now can't play. That much is bleedingly clear. If there is any doubt what-so-ever who subbed and who didn't, just check the payment history.

lol Other than the whole force flag issue This is a good point. The build up to the end would be great if there was some sort of resolution (or just end) and then a day or two to just be able to relax and take in the atmosphere one final time. By resolution, I don't mean a story resolution as I still don't feel the end of game should have a storyline attached to it.

That's a cruel question! And I'll go with a very generic answer! I can't pinpoint a single moment truly. I was really fueling on players' satisfaction, so when I could just feel the players thinking "Wow, this is awesome" over a puzzle, a event mechanic or just a story twist, that would be my favorite moments. But well, if you really want one, I'd pick the following event (more details upcoming in my thread).
That was a great one.. such a change from the events where the goal was to track a target and just attack them, plus the fact it was the culmination of a week or two of smaller events made it even better.

Personally, I get Rare's reasoning for the reinsertion decision, even if it did go against the canon previously established by the comic books. I do agree, however, that the revelation did come much later than it should have.

That would be great.. I'd love to go back to Ashencourte again. I've been able to revisit Yuki with the help of my Vector and Recursion alts, but I'd rather not spend my remaining time grinding just to reach more of the constructs (though, if they do actually bump up XP gain by enough it may not be that bad).

Excellent questions! I intend to answer to these two when I go into an event by event behind the scenes thoughts. This should go in my Man behind the Machine thread, which I will hopefully have time to add a chapter tomorrow!
Excellent. I am quite eagerly awaiting that.

It was a mix of frustration and humour, really. We all knew how busy Rare had to be, so it was easy to make light of things, especially, as Mith noted, given the good nature of most in attendance. That doesn't mean it wasn't a bit frustrating, though, when we'd be waiting for over an hour for something to happen even if it was expected.

I think, overall, all of the big 3 had very good shows this year. MS had the most stuff that interests me personally, but I do think Sony stole a bit of their thunder with having a very similar motion based control system (particularly in how they used more gamer focused test applications to show it off). Even N didn't blow it this year like they've done the past few. The new 4 player Mario looks cool (assuming it scales properly to actually be fun with less than 4 players) decent and Galaxy 2 is, wel, more of the same. Even though I have no interest whatsoever in Galaxy 1 or 2, I know so many people loved Galaxy 1 so it should hit big. The only N game I personally find interesting is the new Metroid, but that's because I'm a big fan of Team Ninja and it's nice the unbelievably redundant Metroid formula possibly get mixed up a little bit. (Just as with the Metroidvania games, no matter how good the core play is, I'm bored to death of explore, find item, backtrack, explore, find item, backtrack, zzzzz... ). Still no Kid Icarus though hehe

The questions that first come to my mind are pretty much all directed at Vogt, seeing as how he is the liaison I had the good furtune of working with the most. I'll stick with the slightly more general ones for now though (and maybe pester Harpalos with PMs about the rest depending on what he posts in the other thread... >.> . There were two events I recall in which the Syntax Machinists "failed" The first was dealing with the Technician going into Datamine to harvest nodes for data he needed. Now, doing anything in Datamine is always a risk especially when you're tapping with a high level tap and Agents are likely to spawn, which is what happened. Seeing as how the whole thing was something of a crapshoot, were we expected to succeed at that event? The Second "failed" event was with Imelda Kroller in Vogt's last operation leading us. Did we just miss something entirely as a group on that one, or was it pre-determined Kroller would wander into the street, run into Wright, and get killed? I can't help but feel there was more to that event that we never did get around to doing. .. and since Tranta mentioned it, could you elaborate a little more on the differences in RPing on the different servers? I've spent the vast majority of my time on Syntax and, while I've always assumed there were differences, I'm curious about the LESIGs thoughts about that topic as well as the topics of working for, perhaps, completely different orgs and in completely different settings (Hostile/Non-Hostile) than with your mains?

Actually, it's quite entertaining. It's not very deep, and the family friendly design will absolutely turn people off (and possibly turn their stomachs), but it's not terrible. Is it a replacement for MxO? Absolutely not, but almost nothing would be other than MxO2.

I'm not sure I agree with this. Based upon the (very limited) footage they have released of The Agency it looks a lot like a typical run of the mill team based 1st/3rd person shooter. If there is non-prerendered footage of any actual non-shooter content I don't recall seeing it anywhere. It doesn't look like it will have either the MMO aspect or the RPG aspect that MxO has. Unless something changes from what they have been showing us, not only will it not be a real replacement for MxO but it won't even be in the same genre.
