Why it took five times for it to work, I don't know. I replicated this several times over, and it worked for me each time. If I did it less then five times,  the authentication did not go through. I did not have to do an actual full system check.

Well, now it seems that I can log in without having to do this.. it took four to five times before I could stop having to do  the restart routine.

Meh. A mid-level character I have is still not working as a result of all this..It keeps on saying ,as it did before, the ability is not loaded, even though it is , not enoough memory, even though there is, etc. Would be nice to be able to level it before the end.

Needs to start without workarounds.

No arguement there from me.

I've had this issue since Update 66. I don't think this has anything to do with SOE's recent mistakes. The solution is always one of the following:

-Close your browser if you have one open.

Why this works, I have no idea. There shouldn't really be any issue with a browser open but I'm not gonna complain if it works.

-If it doesn't work the first time, you must open Task Manager and manually close the process.

For some reason, matrix.exe doesn't always close when you shut down the launcher. If you try again, and it doesn't work keep shutting down the failed attempts.

-Use Station Launcher

Station Launcher usually has a higher chance of authenticating for me. Probably something to do with the fact that you're already partially logged in.

I tried all of those, and I still can't get in.

I was able to log on earlier tonight, but now I can not get in, either, and I have been always subbed..

On a side note, mid-level characters still seem to be bugged, but not lowbies or 50s...

Exactly. That is one reason I posted as much of his message as I did.

SOE does not think we deserve the same amount of respect as EQ2 players. That much is obvious.

Community General Discussion A change in the SOE Community Relations department A change in the SOE Community Relations department ShadowKilla 0 05/21/2009 09:44

As posted by Alan Crosby, the former CR director for SOE, now a senior producer for EQ2:

You know, the most awkward part of writing one of these is the introduction; it almost always comes across as cliché.

So, now that we have that out of the way….

I am extremely pleased to join the creative and passionate EQII team as the Senior Producer. Bruce has always been wonderful to work with and leaves me some rather large shoes to fill (speaking of clichés; they are actually about the same size as my own). Bruce has been a strong shepherd for the team and the game and we all wish him well as he moves into his new role here at SOE. I know he will do well, as he carries the dedication he shows in all things with him.

As far as Community Relations, I am leaving the team in very capable hands. Richard “Greeblen” Schmelter will be giving that team the love they need now, and I know he will shine. Why the change for me? Well, first you should understand that it is not as different a career as you might think. A producer is a manager, just like a director. So, many of the skills are the same. Just different processes, more people, more assets. More, more, more. And of course, now I have these large looming deadlines. What was I thinking? I love games, especially MMO’s. EQ was my first love and brought me to SOE, but it was EQII that held me longer than any other. I love the game and when the opportunity arose to work with this team, I could not pass it up.

This team is amazing! I have spent the last two days in meetings as they talk about their work and their passion for this product; I am excited, as I could not be blessed with a better group to help me make this transition into Production. Coders, Designers and Artists are all working very hard to make sure EQII stays the quality game it is today. Over the next few weeks you will see some of their plans come to fruition as we publish Monument and Might (GU 52) to Test and then Live servers sometime in June (possibly before Fan Faire).

But that ain’t all we have in store for you. As we sat together and went over the plans for GU 53 and beyond, the player in me was piqued. I wanted this new stuff NOW. I wanted to play with the new zones, items, and dungeons. I smiled and laughed as I saw new creatures and their animations (complete with sound effects provided by Tom Tobey, one of our Senior Artists), and I know that you will love them too.

We also have some not so much fun stuff to get to, maintenance to the game to allow us to continue to develop content, expansions, and items for years to come. Some of those pills will be tough to swallow (cliché). The team and I will work hard to make certain you understand why we’re making these changes, why they are necessary. We will discuss them with you and listen to your feedback. While that doesn’t mean we can always go the way some players feel is correct, it does mean we want you to know the WHY of our decisions.....

Meh. I would talk to SOE customer service first.. Perhaps they don't take the boxed version of the 30 day period anymore, I would not want to see you charged. You may end up having to get your money back from Play.com if SOE doesn't honor the 30 days..The boxed version has not been sold in stores  for several  years.

The Lounge Off-Topic Discussion help Re:help ShadowKilla 0 05/12/2009 11:46

All you have to do is click the "My Account" link on the top of this page, and it will take you to where you can download the launcher for free,.

However, the fact that you can even post on thses forums indicates that you should get the 30 days, as only paid accounts can post on here. What you got was not really a trial. so to speak, but a 30 day subscription included in the price of the game, That is why they are probably asking for a credit card number. What you could do is put your credit card number in, then if you do not like the game towards the end of the 30 days, click the cancel button so your credit card is not billed.

If you wanted to make sure of this, you could always contact SOE customer service.

The Lounge Off-Topic Discussion help Re:help ShadowKilla 0 05/12/2009 11:29

Where did you get the game and trial from? Most new players get it through  SOE's Station Launcher nowadays. That comes with a two week trial, and does not require you to enter a credit card number unless you want to subscribe to the game once the trial is done.

I am glad that we still have Virrago.

That being said, the only thing that we have really heard from Walrus was at the anniversary party. He indicated MXO's "future was unclear". Well, even a tenative statement from him would be better then what we have now, which is nothing.

For those of us that only have MXO accounts rather then the Station Pass, we are paying the same rate as SOE charges for games that continue to have developers. I will gladly keep on paying the $15 a month if we get at least some sort of communication going with Walrus, or for that matter, anyone connected with development at SOE again..
