Pretty nifty looking community site there now, a lot better then it used to be and I don't remember seeing any posts about it, so hey why not.
What caught my eye on it most was the post of the week though. :p

Was looking at various things earlier on today and came across this: AFK Magazine which has been done by the Split Infinity guys. I spent about half an hour flicking through it and noticed a couple of things todo with MxO in it, but overall it's a pretty cool magazine which I'm impressed with, especially since you can read it online for free. So yeah, go take a look. Jeffers

Since I'm not going to post where everyone else is and I'm short on starting threads according to my profiles, here's a new one. Anyway, I knew something else was happening arround now and I found it on the station forums. during this downtime of 2 days,2 other forums are being transfered over which s apparently why ours need to come down. So following that same pattern, in a couple of weeks time we'll be getting a weeks downtime while they do SWG. Nice to know eh? Watching the videos posted on DN1 from E3 you can see where the MxO/SWG/EQ2 being ported to PS3 rumour came from and thats through the station launchpad which is supposed to be released over the summer.
So, since this supposedly all singing all dancing launchpad is going to be released, does that mean out own dedicated MxO launcher is going to be replaced by it or are we going to be given an option as to whether or not we want it?

I was searching through my old emails and came across this, whether it's usefull to anyone or not is another matter completely:
THE MATRIX ONLINE 'MMO' GLOSSARY -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One of the interesting aspects of developing a Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game based for The Matrix is the wide variety of terminology that we use. To hardcore movie fans, beta testers, and The Matrix Online team these references are common place, and used all the time. In other MMO games, terms like Dungeons and Spells are commonly used to describe various aspects of the game. Inside the Mega City of The Matrix Online however, programs and exiles rule the day.
So here are a few terms from The Matrix Online for our MMO familiar players! We will expand this list even further in the weeks ahead. A comprehensive list will eventually appear on our website.
Matrix Term: (MMO Translation) - Definition
Ability: (Skill) - A skill loaded on to a character that grants that player a specific power in the game.
Attribute: (Abilities) - One of five statistics that affect a character's performance in the game. These are initially determined during the process of character creation, and can be increased during play.
Awakened: (New Player / Newbie) – 1. A phrase used to describe new redpills because of the feeling many of them describe as "waking from a dream" when they exit their machine pods. 2. The initial Discipline granted to all new characters in the game.
Bluepill: (Citizen / Villager / Non Player Character) - A human who is living inside the Matrix unaware of his or her true nature.
Code: (Objects / Elements) - The matrix is just a computer simulation and as such all objects and abilities are just pieces of computer code. The phrase code is used to as a generic term for any object.
Coder: (Crafter, Summoner) - Coders are specialists who spend their time programming new code and inserting it into the Matrix. They typically excel in the creation of new items and abilities, but are also known for producing simulacra, or bodyguard programs.
Compile: (Crafting) - The process of taking code fragments and combining them into usable code.
Consumable: (Potion/Scroll) - A single use item which provides temporary benefits to a player when used.
Controller: (Quest giver) - Controllers are typically people or programs who give out missions to players inside of their organizations. However, not all controllers work for an organization.
Crew: (Small Guild / Team) - A small group of players lead by a captain. The captain is the founder of the crew, and must have earned enough reputation with a faction to be given a hovercraft.
Decompile: (Deconstruct) - The process of taking a useful piece of code and breaking it down into its components.
Discipline: (Class / Skills) – 1. An ability that defines what a character's primary focus is (i.e., Hacker, Gunslinger, Infiltrator). The highest Discipline a character has loaded is viewable to other players in game. 2. The group of abilities immediately below a Discipline ability. Some of these abilities are required before a character can load up a Discipline ability, while many others are optional.
District: (Zone) - A large portion of the city. Districts are made up of many neighborhoods which all have a similar character.
Downgrade: (De-Buff) - A program which decreases the effectiveness or power of the affected target.
Enhanced Item: (Magic Item, Enchanted Item) - An item whose characteristics have be altered by manipulation of the Matrix. A player using an item like this will benefit from an upgrade.
Exile: (Monster/Mob) - A renegade program who is no longer under the control of the Machines.
Exile Hideout: (Dungeon) - A location where many hostile exiles congregate. Brave players can enter these hideouts in order to loot the wealth of information and secrets these exiles may hoard.
Faction: (Guild) - A political organization made up of at least two hovercraft crews.
Gang: (Mobs or Hostiles) - A group of exiles who have banded together for protection.
Hacker: (Mage, Wizard, Caster) - Hackers are redpills who have chosen to focus on the ability to directly alter the Matrix in various ways. Hackers are capable of launching devastating virus on opponents, and patching their friends when they are in need.
Hardline: (Teleporter/Gate) - A phone line that redpills can use to jack into the Matrix and move from one location to another quickly. Hardlines often look like public phone booths.
Information: (Gold, cash, platinum) - Money has no meaning to a redpill. Instead of money, redpills and exiles trade information about the Matrix and its secrets for goods and services.
More to come soon!
(Thats the end of my email)

So, here's me being all clever and happy thinking that the problem of yesterday had been fixed but no, the stupid launcher does it again.
So, running a full system check on your game may result in the launcher.exe file being deleted therefore stopping you launching the game again. Screwed I here you say? No. A nice simple fix exists. If you go into your game directory (Default: C:\Program Files\Monolith Productions\The Matrix Online\) You will see a file called matrix.exe or just matrix depending on how your windows folder view is setup.
Right click on the matrix file and copy, then right click on an empty space in the window and press paste. Then you should have a file called Copy of Matrix or Copy of Matrix.exe.
Right click on the copy and press rename, then following the way that matrix is spelt (either matrix.exe or matrix) rename the file to launcher or launcher.exe.
Then run the game from the shortcut and it should work without problems. If it tells you to run the game from the shortcut made by the game, right click on the shortcut and press properties and in a box called target you will see the following if installed to the default location:
"C:\Program Files\Monolith Productions\The Matrix Online\matrix.exe"
Change the line in the box so that it reads:
"C:\Program Files\Monolith Productions\The Matrix Online\launcher.exe"
And everything should be put back to normal.
Stupid patches breaking files.

Seen this posted arround a few times now and I believe the understanding I've got now is correct (or hopefully anyway :p)
If you are wanting to stay and subscribe to the game (which we all hope you do) you do not need to buy a new copy of the game, you can just upgrade your trial account to a full subsciption. To do this, press the account button on your launcher and login with your account details on the window that appears.
From there, follow the steps through the subscription process and then continue to enjoy your time in the game
There is no need to purchase the game and doing so will not allow you to get the 30 days subscription included as far as I'm aware, although you could contact accounts and billing to see if it's possible.
Have fun!

Hmmm, Jeffers asking a Q! :p
Anyway, SD memory cards and digital cameras are probably areas I know absolutely nothing about other then general stuff you can apply to most things (more mp=good, more memory=good, quality=good ect) and so here's a question.
Obviously SD cards are all operating at diferent speeds and speed matters if you taking rapid photos or video (not that I have plans to at the moment, but you never know) and so is x133 the fastest at which SD cards currently operate or is it a standard or slow speed (I've seen x40 and x60 as well) and more speciically, £50 for a 2GB corsair x133 SD card a good price or not?
Have fun

Read this on another forum:
Tokyo, March 15, 2006 – Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) announced today that it would launch PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3) in early November 2006 in Japan, North America and Europe simultaneously. With a monthly production capacity of one million units, SCEI will push forward a powerful product launch to spread the platform rapidly throughout the world, together with a strong and attractive lineup of PS3 game titles.
PS3 incorporates the final specifications of BD (Blu-ray Disc), and with the overwhelming computing power of PS3, it enables to playback BD software at a high bit rate. With a maximum storage capacity of 50 GB (dual layer) and robust security, BD is a highly anticipated storage medium that delivers digital entertainment content such as games and movies at an unparalleled level of image quality.
PS3 is compatible with a vast lineup of television sets currently out in the market, from standard-definition TV to full high-definition TV.
Users can also connect PS3 to high-speed broadband network through Gigabit Ethernet and comfortably enjoy a wide-range of rich and exciting content and services over the network.
SCEI, together with the support and cooperation of game content creators around the world, will strongly promote the creation of a new world of computer entertainment available on PS3.

Not sure whether this is a bug or not because I never got chance to test it again (I /bugged it anyway) but someone can maybe test it later.
I was in interlock with Taskmaster in Zero One and was using block tactics to regain IS and used a health pill as well as he was getting a bit to close for comfort, but it only restored 1 health. Using it with other tactics did what it was supposed to restore, but I only did it once with block (then died) so not completely sure.

So as I found out the other day that Ad's are targeted for US (and canada ) only, it leaves everybody else with the white AD SPACE FOR RENT boards everywhere which change shading (probably because it tries to apply an ad but then can't) depending on your distance and makes the city look empty.
So could we have some of the old ad's that were scattered arround (which Walrus said would still be available when the system was brought in) or some kind of ad to give us back some of that city feel back to everybody else in the world and not just the US/Canada.
Edit: And it's probably quite ironic, most games I'd rather see ad's removed, this is the first one I think I've actually asked to be able to see them!

Well I'm stumped so maybe you can have a stab someone. :p
I can't see any ad's on any bill boards at all. Occaisonally I can see them from a distance, but after reaching a certain distance they all turn back into Ad space for Rent.
It's been happening ever since the new ad system was put into place, so maybe I'm missing something somewhere.
Any ideas and do you need my sys info?

Now this has been confusing me for a long time and I don't think I've seen any definitive answer to it so far (I could be wrong in which case point me in the right direction).
So, I loaded up Kungfu Grandmaster and Karate Gradmaster today, no particular reason, I was just playing about with different trees since it's been a week or two since I've had chance to play and ran arround a bit doing various things then looked in the bonuses panel (didn't go through every single one) but under Melee damage bonus, there were upgrades from both the Karate and Kungfu trees.
Screen Shot
So, anyone know if thats intended, or if it's a bug or am I just so confused about all the bonuses and stuff that I'm completely missing the point?

Or Windows Live Messenger if you prefer. I was wondering if anyone else was using this yet? It's still in beta so maybe only a few.
I got an invite from a friend today so downloaded and first impressions I thought it was ugly. I've managed to change a few things now so it looks a bit better, but still doesn't look as compact or as good as 7.5 in my opinion. It's so gray everywhere!
Anyway, I remember when it went from 7.5 beta to 7.5 live there was a lot of changes, so hopefully this will be the same, but does anyone else have any opinions on it?

I'm not sure whether it was just the loadout I had or whether it was some other factor, but I was wondering what everyone thought about the ammount of damage a special ability does.
The ones I saw tonight while playing were nearly always 1000+, but at one stage in a duel some one used Tomo Nage against me and it caused 3000 damage.
If someone uses that ability early on and successfull then your dead pretty much.
Like I say, not sure whether it's the loadouts with bonuses being applied incorrectly, but I still see it as excessive damage.

I just noticed this because I was playing arround trying to create links for bookmarks, but under the board options/thread options drop down menu there is now a Subscribe to this Borads/Threads RSS Feed.
So Fan sites now could more then likely pull the announcements forum onto there page now without using other scripts (or firefox can bookmark it and read it that way ).
Doesn't look like anyone else has noticed it so far (or it's hiding in another thread somewhere)

Or don't vote MxO, it's up to you. :p
Not sure how long MxO has been up on mpogd.com, but it's up there now so go vote MxO for Game of the month!
Might bring in some more players, I've seen it happen to other games that have won it before. Or even staying in the top 5 for a while would provide some more publicity for the game.

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the momento mori mission is still in the game? I ran it on my syntax character on saturday night but I come to run it on my recursion character today and the mission doesn't appear in the mission dialogue box.
I would submit a petition, but apparently you are only allowed one open ticket now so since I have one about something else I can't.
Thanks.

Now I've had this problem for a while and it is starting to annoy me a lot more at the moment.
When ever I take the first screenshot after booting my computer up in game I am timed out from the matrix due to the time I assume of taking the screenshot. After loading the game up again, any screenshots taken after that cause no problems at all.
Previously when we were on the lith servers I would recieve the message reconnection complete, I suppose these SOE servers might be a little less tollerent but anyone have any suggestions about how I can prevent it all together?
