  Hey folks

I've been interested for a while in compiling a list of all the "official" Hovercraft to feature in MxO. Official does mean, unfortunately that I won't be including your ship on the list - though I by no means doubt the validity of you and your crew's actions. But rather I am looking for named ships or ships of significant individuals that have featured in live events, critical missions or elsewhere in the Matrix online story.

I'll just clarify the categories slightly, though I'm probably being too picky. A named ship (e.g. Blue Dreamer) is probably gonna get in, but confirmation of it's place in the story will be needed, but if it belongs to a significant character or has been named more than once I think it counts. Unnamed ships I'm gonna be a bit stricter - if it belongs to a significant character it counts, but a random LE or CM crew that don't get their ships named won't count - so "Carlyne's ship" counts, but a random crew who appear once in a Merv LE don't.

Right, feel free to chuck in any one you can think of and I'll add them to this post so we have a nice long list starting with...

Logos II

Captain: Niobe
First Mate: Ghost
Operator: Sparks
Other Crew: Liaisons
Affiliation: Zion

Notes: Hovercraft of the most senior captain in New Zion's fleet, most Matrix operations are overseen and conducted by the crew of this vessel

Blue Dreamer

Captain: Cryptos
First mate: Veil
Operator: Unknown
Other crew: Liaisons
Affiliation: Cypherites

Notes: This ship is home to the senior crew of the Cypherite organization.

Mjolnir II

Captain: Colt
First mate: Unknown
Operator: Unknown
Other crew: Unknown
Affiliation: Zion
(Note - Colt's details in game list his crew as Logos II, likely for convenience of contact with liaisons)

Notes: Rebuilt from Roland's former command, this ship is now captained by Colt as Roland has assumed Command of Zion's military

Nabonidus

Captain: Morpheus
First mate: Unknown
Operator: Unknown
Other crew: Unknown
Affiliation: Zion/Independent

Notes: This ship was operated by Morpheus following the truce and the destruction of the Nebuchadnezzar, signals with the ID signature of this ship lead operatives to believe that Morpheus was alive, but in fact it was a deception by the General.

Neo's Hope

Captain: Kid
First mate: Shimada
Operator: Unknown
Other crew: Liaisons
Affiliation: EPN

Notes: This ship houses the key leadership of splinter group E Pluribus Neo, who now occupy the city of Zion

Novalis II

Captain: Sawayaka
First mate: WanNi
Pilot: Neurophyte
Operator: Tamarin
Other crew: Vashuo, Lelan, Toorima, Oniyuzu, Odran, Al3xandra
Affiliation: Zion

Notes: Rebuilt from the hull of the Novalis, this was one of the first new Hovercraft crews commisioned by Zion. One of it's crew, Neurophyte was infected by a dangerous "killcode" with strange  and deadly results. Later one of their membership, Toorima killed Vashuo and escaped Zion encarceration and revealed herself to be Veil, co-leader of the Cypherite organization. Since this time little has been seen of the crew in active operations.

Scanline

Captain: Unknown

Pilot: Unknown
Operator: Unknown
Other crew: Strayshot, Acheronia, Theptism, Trifid, Soniya (Recursion), Alethiana, Daxil, Derouter, Leton, Runtrace (Syntax), Betzalel, Kaveri, Palliate (Vector), Bradyn, FiveTool.
Affiliation: Independent

Halborn's Ship

Captain: Halborn
First Mate: Unknown
Operator: Unknown
Other Crew: Unknown
Affiliation: Oligarchs (?)

A ship occupied by the "Intruder" in the real. It has significant advantages over Zion ships, Carlyne referred to it as having "multiple intelligent missiles" as part of it's armament. It is meant to be larger than Carlyne's, but little else is known. Possibly the location where Halborn viewed footage taken in the real, if so it is also occupied by small machines of a kind similar to those seen in 01.

Carlyne's Ship

Captain: Carlyne
First Mate: Unknown
Operator: Unknown
Other Crew: Unknown
Affiliation: Oligarchs (?)

Notes: The ship used by "intruder" Carlyne. Details were given to Zion, mentioning a streamlined "Unibody," immunity to EMP and internal flight system. Little else is known other than it is meant to be smaller than Halborn's craft.

Proditio

Captain: Unknown
First Mate: Unknown

Odyssey

Captain: Tyrell
First Mate: Unknown
Operator: Unknown
Other Crew: Unknown

Notes: This ship's captain seems to have a close relationship with Commander Lock, who referred to him as Ty. An intercepted communique between the two of them shows he was tasked with checking up on Morpheus and had been monitoring Machine communications concerning him.

Terra Nova

Captain: Unknown
First Mate:Unknown
Operator: 63 active operators, none named
Other Crew: Enmascarado, Gemaskeerd, 140 matrix operatives, 20 other crew
Affiliation: Zion

Notes: A Zion Hoverbarge housinga large number of operative was sabotaged by two prominent Cypherites early on in their career, who sabotaged the craft's Hoverpads causing a drastic crash while most of the crew were jacked in. The craft was notable for utilising all sorts of 'real' Earth civilisation chairs as jack in points.

Unnamed Machine Ship

Captain: Unknown
First Mate:Unknown
Operator: Unknown
Other Crew: Gemaskeerd, Enmascarado
Affiliation: Machines

Notes: This ship was loyal to the Machines, the captain had even recieved a replacement artifical eye as a token of their appreciation. For unknown reasons (especially in light of recent revelations) the crew were killed by Cypherites.

Sedna

Captain: Redhand
First Mate: Unknown
Operator: Unknown
Other Crew: Unknown
Affiliation: Zion

Notes: This crew led an aggressive boarding operation against the crew of the Novalis 2. Alex and her crew were disoriented form rapid jackout and on learning of the assasination of Vashuo, one of their number. Because of this they resisted, so Sedna's crew employed taser darts from their ship to detain them. They were detaining the crew because it was suspected that Veil, a high ranking Cypherite, was on board, though they were unaware of that. They were then met by Niobe, who congratulated them ,though was sceptical of their forceful methods.

Nescire

Captain: Unknown
First Mate: Unknown
Operator: Unknown
Other Crew: Unknown
Affiliation: Cypherite

Notes: This crew, posing as Zion operatives, were discovered to be Cypherite loyalists. An operation was lead to detain them using joint operations in the Matrix and the real. A team 'killed' them in the Matrix, forcing them into the real where they were captured by Zion Hovercraft. Their current status is unknown.

I sooo despise Rare for making Meson rifles a part of the trade for the gloves if anyone has one to sell please contact me. I need the One Zero type, should be about level 30.

EDIT: I got one through farming so I no longer am in need of a rifle. Consider this thread redundant.

OK guys, the new installment of Program Files, reviewing the local exiles found throughout Mega City, is now online at http://programfilez.blogspot.com/ This edition covers the 88s gang of Mannsdale and their employer Anti-M. To be honest I couldn't dig up that much on the gang, but there's enough to give you an idea of what they are like. I'd like to thank everyone who posts on these boards, especially those who do mission reviews and the like - as a resource these posts are invaluable to me.

If anyone can point out anything I've missed on this or any other gang please let me know - otherwise enjoy reading!

OK Guys my fifth installment of Program Files is now online HERE The article covers The Blackwood gang of Mara and Magog. It's my first double district gang so there are bound to be a few things that need correcting or updating, but largely I think it's ok. If anyone can think of anything that could be added or needs retracting let me know, if anyone has the details for Thallia or anyone else mentioned in the article do post them her so I can add them to the article.

I'd like to thank all those that helped me dig up information and also Nicksie for her storyline mission summaries, they were a great help

Hopefully there'll be more to come

Hi guys! I'm working on my fifth program files installment (to be hosted HERE) covering the Blackwood gang of Mara and Magog. I've got most of the basic info, but what I need are links to extra storyline info about the gang such as live events and mission reviews. I will be hunting about for these myself, but if you could help me out that's be awesome. Anything would be great, but what I want in particular are:

Events and missions showing their connection to Thallia and that thing the General did with the Richland contacts
Anything else showing their connection to other local programs, Sister Margaret etc.
That event where cheat codes turned their hair green or something and anything else cheat code based
Anything recent on Owl Bangheart or the gang's leadership
Tyndall's city guide in case I can't find it
Anything else you can think of

There's probably more here than for any of the other gangs I've done so far so any help would be much appreciated.

And I've also just done the mission where you kill Mammon, Demon Army leader -  anyone have info on the outcome of that?

EDIT: If anyone can tell me the significance of the Onyx rings and Ranks (that's right Devs I'm loking at you!!) that'd be great too, there seems to be some confusion also as some Magog memebers' details suggest they live in Mara, but i'll probably just breeze over that
Gameplay Discussion Missions and Storyline Program Files 4 - The Slashers Program Files 4 - The Slashers FrozenFyre 0 06/04/2007 12:25
Wahey! It's been a long time coming, but I've finally managed to hammer out my fourth exile gang review. This time I covered the Slashers gang in Camon, it took me quite a while to find the relevant info doing archive missions etc. but I got there in the end, thought there's some bit I'm still not sure of!!!

Anyways it's here at http://programfilez.blogspot.com

Any comments or criticisms would be welcome, particularly about the connection with Silver, and whether I've got the Danielle Wright stuff correct. I think my next subject will be the Blackwoods, so if you can start thinking of any relevant live events/ archive missions that'd be great, but I'll be taking a breather first so don't hurry

Enjoy!!
Community General Discussion The Smith Virus Incursion (RP) The Smith Virus Incursion (RP) FrozenFyre 0 04/24/2007 02:08
Well this probably belongs in NR so devs feel free to bump it if it's taking up necessary General Discussion space. I wrote this for my Program Files blog (new article on the Slashers coming out soon) but since Program Files is more about "official" sources than my opinions and RP I thought I'd whack it up here and on my non Matrix blog. It's my interpretation of the items and events of the second anniversary of MXO.

As Redpills in the Matrix started to think about how to celebrate the second anniversary of the truce between man and machine, events were drastically interrupted. As if the General’s abduction of Sati, causing an imbalance in the weather code, and Seraph’s seemingly crazed attacks weren’t bad enough, Smith once again made his presence in the Matrix known.

Smithlings

The first signs were, perhaps, the most obvious. Crazed programs known as Smithlings began sporadically attacking Redpills all over the city. They had the outward appearance of the former Agent and were also, for unknown reasons, wreathed in flame. The flames had the appearance of the deadly flame virus, but thankfully they did not spread to others and they didn’t seem to do much damage to the Smithlings or those who they attacked. While the Smithlings were a powerful force, they certainly did not match Smith’s power, and were much weaker than even ordinary Agents which meant that Redpills were able to successfully keep them at bay. When a Smithling was defeated, the source of the problem, a tiny fragment of Smith’s Code, was then possible to extract, preventing the program from returning.

Smith Virologists

These programs (or possibly redpills) were recruited by the Oracle to combat the Smith Virus and aid redpills as they fought against it. All the Virologists I saw were attractive females with dark hair wearing official business like clothing not unlike Agent Pace’s attire. I don’t know if this is because they are all the same “type” of program or whether this as just the characteristics of the ones I saw, but that is generally how they appeared. It is possible that their appearance was a disguise to protect them from Smith because in one incident a virologist came to a gathering of redpills and gave them all disguises to give them a similar appearance to her and sent them out to assist in the fight. One notable thing about the virologists was that they were intermittently wreathed in green flame, a result of them processing and neutralising the Smith Virus. The Virologists tended to place themselves near monuments in the city so as to be easy to find by redpills and they gave out special items to redpills who agreed to help them.

 Virologist’s ticket.

This ticket, in the form of a cookie, contained code directing the redpill who bought it to the Oracle for an explanation of events and assistance in fighting them. Unfortunately the code in them also seemed to draw the Smithlings towards the holder, and the user would often if not always have to battle through a group of Smithlings to get to the destination indicated. The cookie would eventually lead the operative to the Oracle who would give them special weapons against the virus, and when they were done it made an excellent snack!

The Oracle’s mission

The Oracle equipped operatives with tools to combat the more dangerous power of the Smith Virus that could overwrite a redpill’s mind and turn them into Smith himself. The Oracle gave them these tools and sent them off to fight the good fight. For those who stuck around she offered an explanation of events. Tiny fragments of Smith, scattered all over the city when Neo defeated him had over time managed to coalesce into fragments big enough to cause damage and self replicate to a degree that could threaten the Matrix.

Smith’s End Brownie

Coming from the Oracle, the weapon used to combat the Smith Virus was of course a product of her kitchen. The brownies she gave to redpills contained code that could neutralise the Smith Virus if it had overwritten an RSI. Fortunately, the brownies didn’t need to be ingested by the target so operatives were able to just get close enough to smash the brownie against an infected person’s chest to disinfect them, creating a green gassy flame similar to that seen on the virologists.

Oracle’s Cookie

The Smith Virus was of course weakened by Neo so when it overwrite RSI’s the infected redpill still retained a degree of lucidity for short period at least, enough to try and free themselves from Smith’s grasp. Knowing this the Oracle supplied the Virologists with special cookies which a redpill could use to purge the virus from themselves - the cookies also assisted in healing. Smith’s Rage Pill Being infected by Smith wasn’t all bad, sure you lost your mind, but it also made you a lot faster, stronger and more resistant to damage. The Virologists were able to extract these elements, and if given three Smith Virus fragments were able to distill from them a black pill which gave all the benefits of being Smith and the only downside was that it could induce a temporary rage on the user.

 The Virion

The Virions were concentrated elements of Smith’s code packed into a small black box shape with code running visible down its sides. These Virions were the most dangerous presences in the Matrix and thankfully there were only a small number of them. The Vitions were extremely attractive to a redpill and drew them to it despite their fears and concerns. Once a redpill possessed a virion they became Smith, in appearance and mindset and they would travel around the city engaging anyone they came across, and spreading the Smith Virus into them. The possessor of the Virion was noticeably different from other infected redpills in that they had the flame effect seen in the Smithlings. I was possessed by a Virion for some time and was lost in Smith’s madness, I have vague memories of going round infecting gang members and redpills. However recent innovations, such as combat shields made infection more difficult as it had to be done in close combat, giving redpills more of an advantage than they had against his last invasion.

The Smith Virus

Lastly more powerful eminences of the Smith Virus, far more powerful and intelligent than the Smithlings made themselves known and spread chaos and destruction across the city. Redpills fought back valiantly, winning some encounters, losing others. The Visus spread its message, determined to succeed. However it failed to completely dominate over redpills and eventually withdrew. The Oracle encouraged redpills at their success, but warned that there were no guarantees that this was over completely.

If the General was the leader of the Sentinel Army that attacked Zion, how come he wasn't fried by the Mjolnir's EMP?

I've had a few other thoughts on the matter, but I'll leave it at that for now.

What exactly does this ability do? I launch it and it makes the target have red flashy eyes, but is there any other effect to it? The details for it simply say "causes enraged" which doesn't help much. I had dreamed that it made NPCs go nuts and attack their own allies, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Can anyone explain what it actually does and whether we need it, because a virus that affects the personality in some way doesn't seem very coderey to me - can we swap it for a cool interlock move?!!

  Hello everyone

I managed to get my third exile gang covered ( the Bells) and stuck it up HERE and I'd like to keep the ball rolling and so I'm going to move on to the Slashers. I got a lot of valuable info from folks on the forum and so I'm going to ask you for help once again. I've had a mozy around Camon and I've got a lot of the basic info I need, though I like to take a little longer to get a feel for the gang, but anyway- most of the stuff you can get from wandering around I've got so what I need are missions (particularly archive ones I can replay myself) live events and any other reference to the gang you can get your hands on.
My plan is to work through Richland top to bottom, though this has been hampered by continuity issues in Tabor and Mara, namely that two gang leaders are supposedly dead/captured while you can still actually see them in game. i just mention it now in case anybody can fill me in on what's going on there.

Thanking you in advance

  Hello everyone

After a bit of a wait I've managed to get the third installment of Program Files online and ready for viewing. This one discusses the Bells gang of Achan and I think I've managed to cover pretty much everything. I've added a "token" section to each review, briefly discussing the items that gang members carry and I've linked to the work of Phrog and zeroone in covering the collectors rather than mentioning them each post. And there's also my thoughts on the Anome saga and the peace that follows.

Any thoughts, criticisms and corrections are welcome!

Oh yeah- you might wanna actually see the thing- it's HERE at http://programfilez.blogspot.com

Enjoy folks!

  Hi

Can someone please post a summary of the findings (and how you got to those findings) from the forum based live events such as "Homework from C", "What if they're watching us right now" etc. I've seen some of the results, but without a concise summary it's hard to see what's going on, so can someone please help those of us without the time or brain power to figure them out by sticking the info up here.

I don't know about anyone else but my inventory is clogged up with special clothing and other items from events that I want to keep as souvenirs to remind me of them. But with Christmas on the way, it's about to get a lot fuller and as more and more special events happen (at least we hope they will!!) there's going to be less room for the essentials like weapons and health pills etc.

So I was thinking, would it be possible to have a special 'souvenir' inventory which we could move such items into once we've stopped using them. For example my Security t-Shirt was fun and had good buffs, but now I've got shirts with better buffs that shirt is redundant, but I do want to keep it because I had to kill some Sleepwalkers to get it and it reminds me of that event.

What do you think?
Community Player Events Team based snowball fights!! Team based snowball fights!! FrozenFyre 0 12/09/2006 04:41
  Hi everyone

I though that since Christmas is coming up we should start discussing how to have large scale snowball fights in Mega City this holiday season! The snowball thing was fun last year, but i found a lot of the time that you'd just get attacked by people as soon as you put your hat on, and that other players wouldn't put hats on so you wouldn't attack then, which wasn't that fun. so i thought we should get ahead as a community and start arranging some large scale Red versus Green team snowball fights. Rules could be that each team member can only use two hats each, one they've lost both hats they're out- something like that. Also with the luggable snowmen- we could do "capture the flag" type games.

  Hi everyone

I'm compiling information on the Bells gang of Achan to be released HERE in the near future. However, I thought I'd ask the community/devs if they can pass on whatever information they can concerning the gang to me, that they think I might have. I've got the general information from the details panels of the gangs and roaming around their district etc. but i want to make sure I've got everything before i compile the information. In particular I want to know if the gang feature in any archive missions that i can replay, I'm doing 4.3, all orgs, at the moment- but if the Bells turn up in any other chapters could you let me know. Also there's one specific thing I need clearing up- one of the detail panels refers to "Gloria" as leader of the Bells, can someone please clear this up for me so I can present accurate information on the gang?

Thank you

Hello Mxo players- I've decided to contribute something tangible to the Mxo community in the form of a fansite studying the post truce Matrix in general and the exile gangs of Megacity in particular. To the best of my knowledge no one else has touched on this topic, which is why I set it up in the first place, but if there's a better resource please let me know and i'll back away shamefully.

I've hosted it on a free weblog /lookguiltilyatShugaree as it's the simplest way for a cybern00b such as myself to put his information online for all to see. The address is www.programfilez.blogspot.com it's with a z at the end purely because all other variations on the name were taken. I'd really appreciate it if you'd take a look at it and give me your feedback, any info you think would be good, and ideally your support as well.

Gameplay Discussion Missions and Storyline I KNOW WHO KILLED THE ASSASIN!!! ... Maybe *Spoilers* I KNOW WHO KILLED THE ASSASIN!!! ... Maybe *Spoilers* FrozenFyre 0 08/12/2006 11:13
OK, I know i'm probably gonna get proven wrong or find I'm the 78th person to come up with this idea, but I think I've come up with the identity of the mysterious unrevealed filt-gunner from cinematic 3.1 As far as I'm aware this person's identity hasn't been revealed to the public and a few documents I've seen hidden away have lead me to this conclusion...

It was ANOME!!!

I would have never taken that wuss-bag, code-drinker to have had the guts to swat the fly monster, but something just clicked together in my mind to make me pretty convinced that it is him. My main reason comes from the Sentinel hack pages, but let's look at circumstantial evidence too:

. Niobe seemed to know him
. He wasn't far behind Niobe, which would make sense if he worked with her
. Letting someone else do the fighting then sneaking up from behind to claim the victory is just Anome's style
. Zion wouldn't want people to know that Anome was actually a hero!!

OK, the important stuff senters around the assasin's bullets- in a previous Sentinel they were reported as missing, only someone involved in the Assasin's demise could have obtained them and the barge killer had the best opportunity to steal them unnoticed. In the current Sentinel Tyndall reports that Anome used the assasin's gun and bullets to shoot Niobe and her crew, hence the fact that she didn't auto-jack out and that her loyal followers weren't trapped with her but were killed permanently. So the fact that Anome has the Assasin's bullets puts him as the assasin's killer in my opinion.

There are arguments against- such as the fact that anome would probably have bragged about it a lot- but we didn't really know Anome back then, and he may have wanted to draw attanetion away from the fact that he was there when the bullets went missing. But I think those news reports would be written for a reason and there does seem to be a logic to it- maybe I'm way off the mark, tell me what you think.

I hope this doesn't spoil anything coming up (like Anome wearing the Assasion's mask in the next cinematic or something!!) but I'm quite chuffed with my deduction and i thought I'd share it with you.

OK, this is showing how sad I am and that I spend too much time jacked
in, but I've found a new fairly amusing activity, which is to go out
and converse with the citizens of the simulation we once belonged to-
the people of MegaCity have lots of things to talk about, where they
like to go, what they like to eat, but are still a little wary of
redpills and will end the conversation at some point- these chats are
usually one sided so I decided it would be fun to fill in the gaps and
try and form a full conversation- here are some results:

One I didn't get time to go into, but which started well

Blue: Time is an illusion

FF: Lunchtime doubly so...

Blue: I could sure go for a Bumbleburger right now!

I met a clubber outside the Daemon, thought I'd see what he liked getting up to

Blue: Have you been to the Museum Downtown? It's great!

FF: The one in Creston Heights? Isn't there some weird gang haunting it?

Blue: Where are you from Mars?

FF: No seriously, there's a lot of weird stuff going one beneath the surface, don't tell the Feds though.

Blue: They think I'm nuts

FF: Well you're not pal, you're a lot smarter than you think

Blue: Groovy

FF: Cause you see this world, this city is not what it seems...

Blue: This is too weird for me.

FF: OK, catch ya later, I'll check out the museum like you said.

I went in to see if Violet had any work for me, but it seemed I'd
done my quota for now- I decided to get friendly with a girl on the
'floor

FF: Hey there, you look a little dazed if you don't mind me saying

Blue: I saw something really odd at a phone booth

FF: Lemme guess, people dissapearing into thin air? Which booth was it, where d'you like to hang out?

Blue: The International District is my favourite part opf the city

FF: And you've come over here to party after seeing something like that?

Blue: Cafinex kept me up all night

FF: Oh yeah, well you should come with me, I've got something that will really wake you up, and it should explain what you saw too.

Blue: Leave me alone

FF: No, I didn't mean it like that, look it's actually quite important...

Blue: Leave me alone freak

I beat a hasty retreat and left without giving her the redpill or
my phone number, but her conversation reminded me it was time I
dissapeared into a phone booth of my own- on the way I helped a guy
across the street, but he was a little too busy to talk.

FF: Hey watch the road there fella- you ok?

Blue: What's six times nine?

FF: Operator, load the calculator program...

Blue: Do you smell something?

FF: Probably those darned Legions, they're swarming all over this dung heap

Blue: This is a great city, law enforcement keeps everyone really safe

FF: OK, sorry mate, didn't mean to offend- though I disagree about law
enforcement. Then again, it wouldn't be bad to keep the Legion running,
have you seen their leader... she looks stunning have you seen her?

Blue: Leather...very nice

FF: Yeah, tell me about it, I'm FrozenFyre by the way

Blue: Howdy

FF: So you wanna go...

Blue: Can't stop, on my way to work.

I was gonna ask him where he worked, but he was already walking off
at a brisk pace, the folks in this city are nice, but they need to be
more trusting of their Redpill friends.

Ah well that's me done, I thought I was gonna be a bit funnier but
never mind, now it's your turn- go out there, be friendly to the
citizens- see what happens.

  Greetings board readers

I recently made level 20 and am having a fun time on this game and to
celebrate this I wanna take on the Tengu of Yuki archive before I get
to level 25 and forget, so what I'm looking for is a team, preferably
on euro time or at least willing to accomodate for it, to go on and
take out that weird monster with me and share the plunder.

If anyone wants to try and make an RP out of this that would be cool,
but I'm not quite sure how as we don't have much info on Archive mobs,
I'll have a think anyway

That is all.

I've been playing through Path of Neo and I recently got onto the Redpill missions, and found them quite an interesting addition to the storyline. I like the girl who gets stuck in Club Hel- what were those guys guarding her, they looked like they could be "troll" programs, though they were probably lupines. But the one I found most interesting was Chuang Tzy, since this isn't the first time we've met this broom wielding agent beating bluepill. Chuang Tzu featured in Matrix comics one, where he held off agents to let a redpill escape via his phone, seems like the same guy, but here's the twist- in the comic the agents recover and kill him- what's going on here? There's a load of dialogue in the comic about Tzu thinking he's a butterfly,  and in the game about him debating with a skull about death so did he somehow escape his death? What do you think?

If it's revealed later in the game don't tell me but otherwise pass on your thoughts
Gameplay Discussion Missions and Storyline Blue Skies and sleepwalkers Blue Skies and sleepwalkers FrozenFyre 0 03/29/2006 04:29
  Hi everyone

I though we could copllectively put together our intel on the happenings of the Anniversary event. What is quite interesting is that this seems to be an event which has a definite impact on the storyline, unlike previous special events such as Halloween and Christmas. We've had one critical mission and a load of hostile NPCs as well as this blue sky stuff floating around the city.

OK- so here's what I got so far, please chip in

Blue Skies- the most obvious thing to notice is the wonderful blue skies we've been having. Blue skies don't tend to appear very often except when Sati makes sunsets. This implies a link to the Oracle being behind this, but no one's confirmed or accepted this possibility, and it doeasn't seem likely. Well it seems that Sati has found a place and a purpose within the Matrix and is no longer threatened with deletion, since the Machines give her permission to alter the sky. But this means either she's involved or someone else has that power too.

The party- an unknown event, seemingly musically based taking place over a weekend- no other details known. The posters are up and the vendors are selling special gear out in the parks of MegaCity. They deal in information, so they certainly are aware of the Matrix and aware of awakened redpills and how to deal with them. They also offer "Security" clothing in exchange for mysterious blue fragments- we have yet to see what either of these involves.

Sleepwalkers- A group of masked individuals, dressed in purple/blue have recently been storming the Matrix and attacking redpills near Hardlines and in the city. They are definitely Redpills, yet something about them doesn't quite fit, though no one is sure what. It seems alsmost certain that they are Cypherites, from their garb and name- "sleep" is a big word in masked circles. There have been reports among several orgs about an extreme splinter group of Cypherites who wish to forcibly reinsert all redpills or something similar- this group would seem to fit the bill.

Does anyone have anything to add, because I'm guessing that working together is what will get us through whatever danger loom.

Community General Discussion The Choppers The Choppers FrozenFyre 0 03/25/2006 10:07
  Hi

I'm thinking of doing an MxO fansite of somekind, possibly as a Sugaree style blog, but whereas she covers missions my topic of choice is the gangs of Megacity. I think they're really interesting yet can often be a background feature to the game, especially when you've levelled up past them.

Naturally I've started with the Choppers gang as they are the weakest, I've gathered most of the information I need, where they hang, what they do, who runs them etc. But if there's anything you think you can tell me about them please post here.

What I especially want to know is their ranking system, as far as I can see the gang consists of runners, jumpers, skids and their leader- Jack the Hack. But according to the Rumbaar site there are also Twockers, Rippers, Car Jacks and a higher level Runner. Does anyone know different or can point me to these members?

Also I'm  looking at who doesn't like the gang, meaning collectors- I've got the main collector's details, but the new redpill collectors also ask for chopper blood. However, they won't talk to me so if there are any new players who could pass this on to me I'd appreciate it.

  Hi

I'm just wondering if a dev or anyone in the know could run through the revised Coder abilities, and any other changed abilities with me. I like the new detonate proxy ability- it is a bit more coderish than the current loadout, which mostly consists of viruses, keep it up. But if there could be a run through of the new abilities that would be appreciated.

There is also a "Coder Style" for melee attacks, can this be explained too- this looks like it will make life as a coder a bit more fun in future.
The Lounge Matrix Universe Time Gap Time Gap FrozenFyre 0 03/21/2006 09:00
What I'm wondering is how long a time gap there is between the events of Matrix revolutions and those of Matrix Online. By the way I'm taking that the time of Beta is not canon here. It seems to be suggested that mxO takes place immediately after Revolutions, but personally I can't see that it's possible for the following reasons

Time had to pass to allow:

Zion's fleet to be rebuilt into Barges and new hovercraft.

Loads of Redpills to be freed at roughly the same time

The Merovingian and the Machines to decide to hire redpills.

A flood of exiles to hit the streets of MegaCity, and somehow escape Merovingian control to form gangs and power relations

A whole load of new abilities, such as viral attacks to be created and distributed amongst redpills and programs

The truce to be stabilised, giving time for operators to learn emergency jackout and teleporting between HLs

Other stuff I can't think of!!

Realistically I can't see all this happening overnight, and the proof for me is the two comics at the end of volume 2, which take place post truce, where death is still a threat to those who enter the Matrix and it still has a lasting effect, Morpheus warns the kid that falling off a building will kill him- not so anymore!! And Hitch killed (permanantly) his crew to stop an attempt to restart the war, and was reinserted (Cypherite anyone?, or should it be Hitchites!!) all this indictes a serious time gap between current events and the beginning of the truce.

What do you think?

Syntax Events - Syntax Event ideas Event ideas FrozenFyre 0 03/09/2006 01:27
  Hi

I'm really inexperienced when it comes to events, so I've no idea how these plans would come about. I don't really have enough experience/ money to organize an event myself so i'm gonna put my ideas in this forum to see if anyone wants to have a go at trying them out.

Open Auction- instead of trading stuff on the Marketplace or with Vendors, people could gather to one place to sell off unwanted items and try and pick up a bargain or two. I just thought it might be nice to get a bit more interaction when it comes to selling and buying goods, so people can haggle and what have you. I don't know how this would be enforced, so if someone has an idea of how you could maybe try this out.

MegaCity tour- as you can see I'm favouring non-violent events, mainly cause I'm not that good a fighter, but also I just don't have the money to give in prizes! What i thought might be good would be to gather a group of people together and go on a tour of the MegaCity. If a bunch of high levels and rezzers could come along that would mean that newly awakened folk could experience the pleasures of Downtown in relative safety. To do this we'd travel around by the subways, exploring the areas around each stop and wandering to any areas of interest in the vicinity whilst pwning any aggresive exiles that come our way- if things get boring we could jointly crash a hideout or something, but the general idea is to just walk around and look at the city we dwell in. If someone with good experience (or an LET player) would want to act as tourguide that'd be cool. "Now to your left you will see a large herd of vampires..."
At the end we could all wind up in a club (Hel?) and dance the night away... or something.
Syntax Events - Syntax Noob Pandora help Noob Pandora help FrozenFyre 0 03/07/2006 08:37
Hello redpills of Syntax, The Archeologist has had a presence in the Matrix for some time now and gives those who aid him the chance to learn more of the Matrix. When I refer to myself as a noob I don't mean to say I am an annoying new player who has no appreciation for the ongoing story of the Matrix, but that I am too weak to realistically complete the missions on my own.

So my request is this- would anyone be willing to guide me through the missions, the first arc at least- taking on the opposition so I don't get pwned and lose out on the opportunity to learn more of the Matrix. All I ask is your protection, the chance to interact with new characters and whatever share of loor happens to fall my way.

If anyone would like to give me a hand, please post here- and I'll agree on a time and a meeting place with any who reply- it probably won't be until next week, and so you know I run on GMT.

Thanking you in advance

Community General Discussion LET Alerts LET Alerts FrozenFyre 0 02/25/2006 03:31
This is just an idea i had that could make the game a bit more fun, i have no idea how it would be implemented but anyway this is it. What if an alerts system was built into the game so that players, whether they're in game or jacked out would be alerted to the presence of an LET or LESIG player in game. I know this really increases the possibility of noobs (like myself!!) swamping an appearance of a major character in game but it could be tweaked to avoid that happening. First of all the player will have to at least be at their computer if not in game for to know about it (obvious, but it cuts down the numbers) Secondly the alert doesn't have to say WHERE the player is, just that they're in the Matrix. OK there's about a 90% chance that theyr'e at Mara C but that's up to the character- this could even lead to "Hide and Seek" style mini events, where players have to search for a character and get a reward for finding them. Thirdly, the alarm could be org specific- the player has to choose whether they want to see Zion, Mero or Machine characters- other characters such as the Oracle and Cryptos could be open to everyone. Fourthly the alarm could be toggled by the character- if they want to just make an appearance or a speech isn't the idea to get as many people as possible to hear it? But if they want a more discreet meeting they could have the option to switch it off so they don't get swamped while having a private conversation. Overall I think this would be a good way to get more of us involved in the storyline- I've yet to meet a character in game, and with a lack of live events proper since the Assasin it might be good to give a few more of us a chance to get involved more.

I'd first like to apologise as this is probably a very old topic and
has been said lots of times, but I could do with info on it. Basically
I want to know about getting access keys for the nodes as it's
described in the manual. I know where to find the bosses that will give
me access keys, but the manual doesn't describe this

To quote:

"Occasionally, bypassing a node can be as simple as tapping it. However
in some areas the machines have upgraded their security. The Exiles
have created workarounds that will get a Redpill through most zones,
but the encryptions keys they sell do not come cheap. You may need to
find the exile that controls the key and perform a task on their
behalf- when the task is complete you will be given the key."

I've never come across a node that I could just "tap" - and does anyone
know about the other method of getting keys, it sounds a lot more fun
than just camping out a gang so I can kill the leader!

OK this probably doesn't belong here, but i thought it might be good to
have a discussion of the Matrix comics, which ones we like/dislike,
what we don't understand about them and if at all, how they tie into
and inform the game. The comics have been printed, but some are
available online at the matrix website.

I guess I'll start us off- my favourite comic is Hunters and Collectors, though i like Run, Saga, Run too- it's funny!

But because they're short stories it's sometimes hard to tell what's
going on and to get the whole picture- for example I'm not really sure
of what's going on in Goliath, so anybody's help on this would be appreciated. Also I think Saviours has a lot relating to the game, since it's post truce and I think has the beginnings of the Cypherite movement in it.

OK, that should get us going for now

the white corridors as one of the "historical locations" that can be
found in the game.  Now it doesn't give coridinated or anything
like that before you all start posting asking me how to get there ok?
It lists the area as restricted and gives no map for it.

The following explanation is taken from www.mxoarchive.com

"

It is used often by Seraph and the Oracle to travel safely between

the masked men and how long they've been around. I was originally under
the impression that they only showed up in the hunt for Morpheus event-
but then i read some old issues of the Sentinel, which hint that they
had been around much longer.

I know the movement was originally started by Cypher, though his
attempt was unsuccesful, and then after the truce, the operative Hitch
was succesfully reinserted after performing an assassination for the
Machines (Matrix Comics 2). But i was just wondering how long have
Enmascarado's bunch been around in the game, and if anyone knows where
this part of the storyline is headed.
