I don't have much to add. Sad Asna is sad to see the game die like this. It's such a beautiful game, the city, the mood, the character models and clothes .. and we'll never see anything like it again. But I was privileged to be a part of it, to have made such great friends here, and I'll have many years of good strong memories to take with me. So much laughter, and some tears too. It's been over three years for me, and I wouldn't have given back any of it.

I'll be there till the end, like I always knew I would. VIXENS FOREVER!!

That's a bad idea. Here's why: I registered for FF last year just to get the rare item. If the same item is offered this year, I have no incentive at all to register just to gets it, because I already gots it. And I'm the kind of MxO player who will register solely to get the goodie even if I don't/can't come to the event. (I've already got plans for that weekend as it is.)

I agree with the previous posters who suggest another item, a rare item that's already in the game, like a weapon (that FM-1500 or whatever it is) or the Assassin Mask, or beta clothes or that awesome flamey-eye jacket that was some magazine's preorder goodie that's still in the game (one of my fellow Vixens has it) or something along those lines. Something that doesn't already have its own grind, to be sure. Ooh, or one of those "effects" goodies, like the flame virus or the blue headlight, made timerless. I think some people were "gifted" with timerless versions of those by the devs for good behavior during LETs. Something like that would make a great little registration goodie that wouldn't require the creation of anything new.

There will likely only be a few dozen people register from the MxO group so this couldn't possibly be too much for one person to handle.

Mmm, perhaps, but I'd rather think it's cause it's STILL one of the best looking MMOs in service today. (On a properly-equipped XP machine, that is.)

Anyone got a challenger? I've held it up to WoW, SWG, CoH/oV, EQ2, Tabula Rasa, DDO. None of them measure up to MxO's depth of rich detail, character models and animations, environment texturing and AI .. IMO of course, but really, show me a better-looking MMO and I'd love to check it out.

I would just like to add that while I certainly agree that we dedicated players deserve more news and updates from our producers, not all of us are at an "all-time low" as described. I don't deny that many players are highly demoralized with Rarebit's departure and the vacuum he left behind. Some of us however are happily paying our subs and enjoying what time we have to spend in the game.

Yes, I miss Rarebit, and yes I would love new content. But I play the game for reasons that haven't gone away yet. And I am not alone.

Agree with the above posters that MxO is very much worth "bothering". There is so much content in the game, missions to run, contact missions distributed all over the city, all with deep and interwoven stories and characters, items to be had/quested for .. and many, many fun people who are diehard players and enjoy giving new people help as they make their way in our beautiful city. Also, you've got communities like MxOSpace, plenty of factions, lots of regular events planned around Catzi Radio .. there's so much to do! For fifteen bucks a month you'll be very busy for a long time here, and you might even come to love the way it works so much that it ruins other MMOs for you (like it did me). I've played quite a number of other MMOs and so far none have the richness that MxO has, including character models and animation, depth of character customization through clothes, RSI pills and ability loadouts and stats, a vibrant and visually resplendent world to explore ... anyway, I go on and on

It's a really good question, Asna, and one I have been asking myself.  I'm assuming for the time being that the story was perhaps not as secret as most of us thought.  Or maybe the Wachowskis want to use it to build an MMO based on Speed Racer. 

I don't disagree, but there's still the issue of suddenly bringing all existing, ongoing story arcs to a complete stop. If a successor wanted to do things differently, they should at least have the option of wrapping up previous story arcs in a way that makes sense to them, rather than starting with a .. dare I say it? ... tabula rasa. *ducks and runs*

I think it is self-evident that there are no plans to replace Rarebit at the present time. Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
