Lets see at 30,000 (which were the last subscriber numbers I could find for about 3 years ago) that's (Gonna really show off my bad maths now) $450,000 per month ($15 per month per sub). So that's $5,400,000 a year?

So take away $400,000 a year for running costs (ie development, hardware costs and promotion)

Still means 4 years to pull back development costs? OUCH!

That means with present sub numbers, they're well short of the $20 mil.

Small Blog Update.

Last night I was watching the discovery channel and there was a Matix Docmentary on. It was mostly about the cultural impact of the film series (with some of the usual odd balls rolled out just to make it look dumb) but there was a section about the matrix online!

We were on the TV people!

But, they couldn't talk to anybody about the Matrix online, so inorder to explain what the Matrix Online was, they got a lead designer from City of Heroes to explain what a MMO was and how the Matrix was an inspiration for them and they got effectily five free minutes advertising about City of heroes and nothing on ours.

Was this before SOE's time?

Hi Guys,

Just a quick word here. This isn't a goodbye, it's just I'm stuck in a holding pattern with real life(tm). With the present climate, I have to make sure that I'm still employed, which means not putting in as much time with the Black Code as I'd like too. Heck I've still got three blog posts to finish!!

So, Apart from saying goodbye to Rare this Friday, I'm not really going to be about until March.

I was being a little 'tongue-in-cheek'. To be honest, I'm not really in a hurry. It's the journey not the destination.

Normally I go through phases of playing a couple of hours every night for a couple of months and then real life(tm) has to take priority.

Now If I ever won the lottery, then it would be a whole different story.

How about this idea;-

Phone Tag.

If people are flag as PVP, they only have access to the hardlines which have been tagged by their organisation.

A Hard line is tagged by taking the faction of the last red pill to use it. Everytime a Hardline is tagged, you get points.

However if you loose a hardline, and you are within a certain radius of it, you loos points.

Something like this been suggested before?

For all my complaining about MXO. I am sticking with it. I've still got tons of stuff to do in addition to the main storyline. But that's because I'm not a level 50. I am fortunate to be a member of the Black Code, who help me out if I ask, but without those folks, I'd probably be in the same position as Manic

I do feel that once you hit 50, the game effectivly stops. It's a pity there isn't a SWG like story teller facility, which might allow player content, allowing something new for people to do.

Or maybe, the server turn's hostile if you're level 50, so there's always a faction vs faction thing going on.

Still, you have to take you're hat off to Rare because the amount of work that he does just to keep things running.
