  So - I updated my system from 1 GB to 2 GB of RAM the other day. And ever since then MxO keeps crashing on me. Complete crashes - as if I pushed ALT+F4 and bam - I am back at the desktop.

Now I am PRETTY certain the RAM can't be the problem - ran memtest overnight - plus everything else seems to be working just peachy. Other games as well - just played LOST - VIA DOMUS for a while and no problem(s)

  Not sure if this has made it onto the forums already somewhere else - but I just wanted to get the communities opinion on the current situation (at least on Recursion) where (a) certain CSR(s) have been holding White Room parties (which in itself is not even THAT upsetting) but then giving away things such as Beta Gear, Mobius Code(s), Stat Hacks and Hyperjump Beta(s).

I don't know how you feel about this but these are items that were either given to "special" players (Beta Testers, Pre order people) or like in the case of the Mobius Code to people who already were a part of MxO at a certain point in the storyline and to just give away these items now (at WHITE ROOM parties to boot) is IMO just a slap in the face to the people who have been here for a very long time and sorta "earned" these things.

Personally I do not appreciate actions like this at all.....

  So - back in the "good old days" invisibility worked this way.

As opposed to sneak you had a timer on it - but on the upside you were walking upright - walking faster - all the speed buffs actually worked so you could use Hyper Speed, etc while invisible and you could Hyperjump.

Then some weird Monolith patch came that screwed it up and it has been this way ever since.

Now basicially invisibility is "Sneak on a timer" - you are bound to the exact same restrictions that sneak gives you - but you are on a timer.

Which is basicially the reason why NOBODY I know uses invisibility thereby making it a completely useless ability.

Are the devs even aware of this? Can we maybe make invisibility somewhat "attractive" again?

Discuss....Comments? Concerns?

I leveled a toon to 50 on Vector sooooome time ago - now unfortunately when CR2 came around I was too occupied with my Recursion charachter so I forgot to do the whole "code abilities then sell them" thing in order to make money to level up all the new CR2 abs (Hypers, etc) - so now I have this FANTASTIC charachter sitting on Vector which doesn't even have the basic Awakened abilities and is totally and utterly out of cash.

And since I am a lazy bum I thought I first was gonna ask here if someone would like to "donate to the cause" - maybe either cause you are leaving MxO and do not know what to do with your money or maybe just out of the goodness of your heart - he he

So if you feel generous today - send me a PM - or a tell in game under Recursion.Miggesch.

And btw - whatever names you might wanna call me in the upcoming posts in this thread...save your time...I know I am SMILEY

This is seriously starting to become a FARCE.

Everybody knows about the exploits - especially the style stacking. People are using it in PvP left and right - even talking about it, admitting it, even gloating with it. Numerous people have been CCR'd countless times - even with screenshot proof - even posts to Devs have been made explaining explicitly how the sploit is done - but NOTHING happens.

When we had some stupid Master Shadow exploit that was just based on some reuse timer there were immediate bans - there was a "Message Of The Day" - same for the stupid "Evade" exploit - both of which seem ridiculously mundane to the style stacking.

So WHY is it that there has been NO action in regards to this AT ALL?? No forum announcement - no "Message Of The Day" - and especially NO BANS? The people in charge of this game act as if this all doesn't exist and keep ignoring everything they get from us. How confident am I supposed to feel in the CCR system when I ccr the same person 5 times - with proof - and the next day they stand in front of me and do all the same sploits over again?

A HUGE amlunt of players who just don't want to stoop to the level of the exploiters have not have fun in this game ever since CR2 came out because since then the exploiters reign the game - and quite frankly I am sick of it - but as you can see from my statement above - MUCH more than the cheaters does the ABSOLUTE INACTION of this dev/csr team annoy me in regards to this issue. Your EULA is being laughed at and flushed down the toilet on a daily basis every minute of every hour at the moment and you just it there and become the laughing stock of the "cheater community".

Sorry for the long post - but I have been a player of MxO since day 1 of beta and this is the first time I am ever seriously considering just scrapping the game because I am so deeply angered by all this.

Just enter the number below the attribute name and it shows you the bonus(es) it gives for the stats it affeects.

Just don't enter a number above 30 - since attributes are capped at 30 under CR2

  If you ever wondered why certain people (especially members of a certain faction that shall remain unnamed here) just seem to win every duel and kick your *CENSORED* almost every time?

Well maybe you should make yourself familiar with the timers and what specials usually cannot be used right after each other and you will realize that these people indeed ARE using these specials right after each other. So next time you fight these people in a duel or a tourney pay close attention to what specials they are using in what order.

And here's some proof/examples

2 Sidekick Combos in a row
- Obviously they won't use that because it is way too obvious but I thought it was neat anyhow.

Sidekick Combo and Extreme Falling Kick in succession
- Normally not possible

Extreme Falling Kick followed by Misdirect Punch - Also not possible but one of the most popular combos

Another one that's popular is EFK followed by Suicidal Butterfly. For obvious reasons I am not saying here how it's done. Just thought you should know.

  This occured to me yesterday whem someone accused another player of being boosted in a duel. I then explained to the guy how by simply looking at the opponents bonus(es) for normal speed, power or grab attacks he should be able to see very easily if the person is buffed. Pretty much 245 is the highest bonus a normal MA should have 205 CT + 20 from MA specific Tactics + 20 MCT (which is pretty much the highest you can get if you have like 70 Perception). So if your opponent has a bonus of MORE than 245 he/she is DEFINIETLY boosted.

Under the current system where we only see the damage dealt and not the bonus(es) applied to it there is absolutely no way of telling if your opponent is boosted or not and since this WILL ultimately lead to a HUGE amount of "You were boosted" arguments I believe that duels in general and especially MA tournaments will suffer greatly from this decision.

  Ok - I am totally open to stand corrected here. But the way it seems to me now is that bonuses are NEVER applied to anything U do.

In the current Combat system we see our total roll and then in (  ) behind it the bonus that was applied to it i.e. (400) for max VD or (256) for an average Dodge Ranged bonus.

I noticed that no matter what I do or what tree I use the number in the (  ) after my roll is always 0 (ZERO) which means that there was no bonus whatsoever applied to my roll.

Which of course also explains why Riflemen pwn right now - because even though I have 45 pts of Ballistic Defense and a 27% bonus on that I get hit every time - probably because my roll is always under 100 and the number in the bonus bracket is...you guessed it - ZERO. Now I know people are already saying on QA "Ballistic Defense doesn't work" - that's right it doesn't - but then according to that logic NONE of the bonuses currently work. Ok - I haven't tried any of the Hacker trees yet so I can't say anything about Viral Accuracy and/or Defense but in my observation anything that has to do with Melee/Ballistic Accuracy and Defense has no bonus whatsoever applied to it.

  I haven't been jacked in a lot lately due to my move to Europe - so I wasn't really here for the whole "Security Device" exploit thing.

But now that I come back I see that different levels of punishment have been applied to people doing/using the exact same exploit.

Most of the people who were using the exploit (as far as I know) were de-leveled back to level 2. Good, fine, dandy - since obviosuly some sort of punishment HAD to be applied.

So why is it then that a very good friend and faction mate of mine got his account PERMANENTLY banned from MxO for "only" doing the exact same thing that the people did who only got de-leveled back to 2??

Has there any statement been made as to this obvious unfair and preferred treatment of some players? Like I said - exploiters NEED to be punished - I agree - but then everybody should get the exact same punishment and not based on how CSR feels that day. My faction mate didn't even get a satisfying answer when he demanded one as to WHY some players were treated this way and some others that way - he only got "We will not be releasing this account back into play" - oh well - thanks - I think he knew that beforehand.

Just wanted to know if others also got the shaft while some can still enjoy their accounts every day...

I installed the game from scratch (had to) - now when I log on for the first time and the patcher updates itself I get the following error.

"Failed to create a copy of the launcher or a critical support library
for patching. If zou have file called Matrix.exe in your game
directory, please make sure that it is writable".

I checked though and Matrix.exe is not write protected. If I just ignore the error and keep going then after the patcher reboots and I actually log on for the first time I just hang at "Authenticating...." until the cows come home.

Any help?

This happened a long time ago and I sadly don't have the screenshots anymore. But during one of the many assassin chases we chased him (her?it?) down to the sewage plant in Southard where he started hiding behind a door. Now a lot of people were saying silly stuff like "Mr.Assassin - we have a package for you and we need you to sign for it!" - so I just thew in a little "abacic" (old Iteratorians will know where that's from) and ZAP - I was dead on the floor and my system window said "You have been killed by an admin". Now I got rezzed - got up - stood there for about 3 minutes pondering what had just happened (and maybe also waiting for some ghost voice to appear explaining to me WHY I had just been killed) so I decided to put it to the test and said "abacic" again......and ZAP....the same thing happened.

 

Up to this day I never got an explanation of any kind why this happened to me - just wanted to see if anybody else ever had that experience (I admit I'm sitting here all packed, my plane leaves in 24 hours and I'm bored as hell)

....alrighty - pretty much right after I finish this post I'll pack ump my PC and tomorrow it'll be shipped to Germany.

Here's a video of 10 of the 11 boxes and a transcript. The Union Hill box seems to be bugged. Went there 3 times at the correct time and it doesn't open - ever. If someone gets it to open feel free to add. I was just the camera man on this one though - all the credit for figuring out where the boxes are and when and in what order they open goes to the one and only SYMMETRIC!

Walrus has said on several occasions that there will be a Hotfix today to put more Crypto stuff into the game. But I don't see any announcement about the server(s) going down. So I'm getting a little concerned.....

 

Oh and while you're at it - how about another hotfix for them client crashes ;-D

This is very apparent for me since the client normally NEVER crashes for me and I hadn't seen the crash reporter in a long time.

 

But just today since the patch my game must have crashed about 5 times. Completely random - one time I was in a critical mission - one time I was just standing on a roof farming frags - and I had been standing there for quite some time already.

 

Will /ccr this of course - but just wanted to see if I am an isolated case or if it is indeed a problem with the recent patch.

Alrighty - just a cpl of observations, my opinions and hopefully some fuel for discussion.

 

What is it that most of us want from PvP? I would go out on a limb here and say "Fun" - cause after all this is a game - and most people I know play games in order to have fun.

 

So why is it then that we (and by "we" I mean all of us - Zion, Merv, Machine) sometimes do our hardest in order to destroy the fun of PvP?

 

1.Excessive use of Hackers

We all do it - no doubt about it - and in certain situations it's ok - mostly if you are hopelessly outnumbered - then go ahead - get the old Howitzer out of the closet and try to debuff the **bleep** out of your opponent. I sometimes "fight" 10 Mervs by myself just throwing area hacks and then getting killed every 90 seconds - but the only reason I do it (since I am fully aware of the fact that I cannot kill 10 of them by myself) is because I KNOW that at one point people will notice that there is this one person just not giving up and will get motivated to chime in.

But if you already have the clear numbers on your side - and still 80% of you are Hackers - why? I can't imagine you're not feeling silly.

 

2.Kill 'em as fast as you can

And again - if numbers are somewhat even this is not an issue - but whenever I see 20 people killing that same one person over and over again I just stand there and observe and ask myself "Why?" - and then usually walk away to find something else to do. Now don't get me wrong - I've had nights where I get all buffed up and then fight 4 or 5 people by myself - but these 5 people ENCOURAGE the fight - they know quite well that they COULD kill me within 10 seconds - but they rather have a huge close combat fight going on for 10 minutes (cause at that point my buffs run out and I WILL die - lol) - maybe because subconciously they APPRECIATE the fact that there is someone willing to go up against them even when the odds are this bad. Then you get other groups of people where you try the same - and about 5 seconds into it your buffs are deleted - as soon as you get in interlock you get the double (or triple) bulldog and you're dead. Or you get nuked to pieces by the 8 hackers standing around. So what do you think someone will do who has done that to them 2 or 3 times in a row? They will stop - why? cause it's no FUN.

 

Personally I like the "smaller" PvPs that usually happen late at night or early in the morning. Where you only have like 5 people on each side and it actually really becomes a contest of skill and/or tactics.

 

The large battles always end the same - the scale tips back and forth so many times that at one point people just want to end it and the whole thing becomes a 10 nukes/second massacre on both ends - and that's usually again where the fun ends.

 

Well - before this post becomes too long. Zion, Mervs, Machines - think about what you would rather do - have fun PvP - or stand flagged in Mara and have nobody to fight cause people do not WANT to fight you cause you are "no fun" to fight.....

At this point there must be DOZENS of people like me who are lvl 50 and own every single ability in the game. So I assume that ALL these people have the same problem(s) that I have that once you are at that point there is pretty much NO space left in your code storage at all.

 

You add a cpl of recipes for clothing and you are FILLED UP - thereby making you utterly useless as a coder for your faction since you NEVER have any code bits.

 

So I took another way and transfered my entire Proxy and Utility Coder trees to one of my alternate charachters in order to have some decent space for some codebits so I can easly code stuff for my faction and myself.

 

But should it be that way? I don;t think so. I am not a programmer at all - but I can't imagine this being much harder than just changing a number somewhere that tells the system how many slots the code archive has. And I ALSO cannot imagine that the team has not gotten SEVERAL ccr's where this is being mentioned or suggested.

 

So - to sum up - PLEASE increase the capacity of the code storage!

I know this might be a pretty n00bish question. But I realized that for somethng that is SUCH a big part of MxO - there is VERY little to nothing you can find to read anywhere about it.

 

I checked my manual, I checked my strategy guide, I checked the Help system in game - and nowhere can you read exactly HOW combat rolls are formulated. Does anybody know for sure? If so - can someone please post them here since I am sure the formula is different for close combat rolls, ranged attack rolls and hacker rolls.

 

I THINK I know how they formulate - but then what I think gets defied every day by what I see happening in my system window in game.

Ok - here are some things that **bleep** me off on a daily basis and in my opinion these things have made any form of Martial Arts duels utterly pointless and frustrating.

 

1. We all know about the broken Combat Roll system - not gonna go into that in detail again - but basicially yiou roll everything from 200 to 350 on both specials and normal attacks. Rolls are completely random and don't seem to hae ANYTHING to do anymore with your charachter's stats.

 

2.The broken reuse timer(s) on MA specials. This one frustrates me the most and probably only the people that have been in the game since the beginning will even know what I am talking about since this has been broken since like June and I already hear people saying that that's the way it's supposed to be. When you use a special (EFK, Sidekick Combo, etc.) and that special gets either blocked or outrolled by your opponent the reuse timer is STILL SUPPOSED to go on. Has always been that way until it broke. So this leads to people using the same mover over and over again until it finally goes through while YOU are at an disadvantage because YOUR timers went on and you only have a limited number of specials you can use. If you beat someone's EFK on the first move you already KNOW they will use that EFK right away again as their second move but now YOU have hardly any abilities left that can BEAT an EFK since your timers are on.

 

3.The fact that status effects are caused even if the move doesn't go through. Someone can use 3 power attacks on me and I can beat all three - but somehow magicially that person can still stagger me and all of a sudden come back with a Machinegun Kick. Correct me if I am wrong - but status effects are only supposed to occur when the move goes THROUGH.

 

So - here we sit with all these bugs that make the Martial Arts tree(s) more frustrating than fun and basicially leave 90% of all duels up to luck and chance and the only answer we get from SOE is that this will be fixed with the new Combat System - which as far as we know is still 2 to 3 months away. We are paying $15/month for this game and they think it is TOTALLY OK to let us sit with an UTTERLY BROKEN Combat system for 3-4 MONTHS (Considering how long some of these bugs have been there it's been even longer) and expect us to just shut up and take it.

 

I love this game - but it's these things that on a daily basis just tempt me to just cancel my account and move on......

So I'd like to know what you guys think about the new situation with the Viral Deflection of the archive bosses.

 

As far as I could tell so far they adjusted the VD of the boss to match the max VT the HIGHEST level player who can enter a particular archive can have.

 

Example : Ashencourte (lvl 20-30 archive) - the boss has a Viral Deflection of 240 which is the maximum Transmission a lvl 30 player can have.

 

My observations so far (and I'll be more than happy to be told I am wrong - that's what this thread is for) is that you do not even need to ATTEMPT to kill the boss unless you are the highest lvl that can enter an archive - and even THEN it becomes a nearly impossible feat depending on how lucky the boss is with his VD rolls.

 

I just went into the lvl 25-35 archive with my alternate charachter (lvl 35) and another buddy - lvl 35 as well and we were able to kill the boss twice - but each of us in the interim died about 3 times so we gave up and left.

 

So basicially they are giving us now ONE level to try and get the best item drop from a particular archive. And even then it becomes almost impossible since you can't kill him by yourself - so you need a team - and then of course everyone on the team would like the drop as well. That coupled with the fact that the MALE drops drop about 5 times less than the female drops gives you almost impossible odds to obtain the item.

 

2 things that I have seen happening from this so far are a) The archives are always empty. Just went to Sakura for about 45 minutes to farm from the Priestesses and the entire time I was the only player there and b) that if you are planning on buying these items somewhere you better be prepared to have a big wallet. Before the merger people would charge about 10 million info for items such as the Sakira Bandana - after the merger these prices went up - probably due to the fact that there were now lots more people so the ratio of iitems dropped to the number of people seeking one created a high supply/demand effect - so the prices went up to about 30 million info - which is what I paid for mine - so far so good.

 

My buddy just sold his Sakura Bandana 2 nights ago - for 80 (!!) million info. These items have now become such a rarity that people are willing to pay 80 - let me repeat that - EIGHTY million info for a clothing item.

 

This alone IMO shows that the "new" archives threw things greatly out of balance and have made the archives in my opinion utterly useless.

Ravager is supposed to shave 10 lvls off of all your abilities. So I assume that would include your Awakened ability. So it should temporarily shave off about 40 pts of CT and also about 40 pts of VD since when you level up you get 4 pts of CT and VD per level that you level up your awakened ability.

 

We've tested this quite a bit and a) Having the bonus panel open while being hit with Ravager doesn't show ANY change to any to your bonuses and b) the person affected doesn't have any change whatsoever in regards to their Combat rolls or VD rolls.

 

So are these in essence useless or "broken" abilities?

  I think - and correct me if I am wrong - that we all know or at least
have noticed how screwed up all the combat rolls all over the game are.
in Martial Arts duels you can roll anything between 210 and 330
regardless of your average roll and regardless if you have Consistent
Technique equipped or not.



This goes for normal attacks and specials - when I beat a Wooden Dummy
Drill with a Speed Attack cause my (not downgraded) opponent (who has
72 Perception by the way) rolls a 203 on it then you know something's
wrong and this happens all over the place every day.



In addition to that the Hacker rolls seem completely random now and
without any syatem whatsoever. I know I'm right cause if you search you
will see that the boards are filled all over with this issue.



My biggest concern is that when I ccr'd this issue I was told that "at
the moment we are not aware of any issue with Combat Rolls" - but then
again that was very early right when the problem started cropping up
(which by the way was after the patch that fixed the block tactics bug
- so there might obviously be a connection here) and now looking at the
boards and hearing people talk about it in game all day long I cannot
imagine that they haven't received DOZENS of ccr's about in by now.



If Walrus reads this - could you please just let us know if they are
aware of these problems and are working on it? The way it stands now
all duels are really somewhat pointless since the rolls are TOTALLY
random and it's all just based on luck now - one roll your EFK rolls
320 - the next one it rolls 250 - this is an INTEGRAL part of the game
and IMO cannot stay like this for months like some other bugs that we
have come to simply "accept".
