I stayed a lot longer than I should have in my liaison role, because I really did like my character.

A lot of people found who I was from the first leak.. I played the Syntax EPN Tygrvason. When I stepped up to play a liaison, it was back before the ruling that you couldn't be a liaison on your home server, and so I just stuck to Syntax because I didn't expect to ever create characters on other servers really. Being on the same server though made things really stressful after the leak however. :/And oh, I can finally say, thanks and sorry for having to put up with my nearly unreadable font color that Tygr used in chat, I just couldn't seem to part with it. Someone told me they remember it originally being purple, I don't remember, but it's possible. SMILEY Until it finally got to the characteristic-serious-business-dark-gray people remember.

And that's all, thank you everyone, thank you fellow ex-Lesig, thank you Rarebit, thank you all the friends I made from this great game!

(And if there's any other ex-Lesig'ers who would like me to post for them, I'd be more than happy to help you say farewell, just send me an email!)

Ah, Wolfess - those pics brought back some wonderful memories! I wish my computer hadn't taken all of your drawings with it when it died - I saved all of them...

I am also one of the original LESIG members, though I haven't ever played a liaison during these years, just supporting roles in events and a few long-term side-characters.

While I am not ready to reveal all of my identities as a Lesiger, I can reveal one such character now:

Gameplay Discussion Character Development Slowest to 50... Re:Slowest to 50... thornTree 0 02/14/2009 13:08

I've been here since pre-order.

For the first two years I was on nearly every day with my main, and the past six months I haven't been in at all because I haven't owned a MxO-capable computer, and the year leading up to that various issues prevented me from playing more than once a week (being jacked-in two to four hours at a time to run crits and such).

My main reached 39 just before my computer died.

I do have alts on Syntax and Vector, but none of them are higher than 21 (I think - haven't played with them for a long time).

News and Announcements Broadcast Depth Thank you Re:Thank you thornTree 0 02/08/2009 15:53

Now I've read the posts in this thread, the storyline posts, and had time to gather my thoughts.

It's amazing to see so many of the old names either posting through a friend to say goodbye, or even re-subscribing just to make a post here!

That people are willing to pay just to say how much they appreciate everything Rare's  done, and say goodbye, should be a stronger indication than anything of just how much his presence has meant.

Rarebit: Thank you for everything; there's been many great times in this game thanks to you and i will always have many fond memories of events and stories. The plans you had for the story were nothing short of perfect, I think.

That's why I take everythng with a grain of salt. When half your power personalites in MxO are on the take by being given out player program powers its really hard to get a good read...

My advice Viil do what I did just stop caring dude.. trying to disect the finer points of a quality entertainment experience to these people is like trying to sit through dinner with a lobbyist and get a straight answer.

I doubt few of you remember my name or even know who I am, but I've been here since beta.

Despite having a full-time job, two and a half hours of travelling to and from it every day, and several other activities taking time from me, I also live in Europe - all this has severely limited my time for interaction with others in this game.

I care about the story above all - that's what made me play this game to begin with, and that's the main thing that has kept me around this long. I've seen piece after piece of what made this game unique and interesting being dropped for various reasons, as have you all.

Previously, I played to collect hard-to-get items and I have my inventory stock full of event items, rewards and memorabilia. Most of it, I've done all by myself, but I've played with others as well, though less nowadays since many of those I called friends and faction mates went on to other games or changed servers, and even quit on MMOs entirely. Nowadays, I only collect certain items - partly becaues of lack of inventory space (yes, I store a lot in my email as well) and partly because I do not have the time and patience to grind every new content that is put in so I can get the rewards.

Before this last change I have never even for a second thought about quitting this game. I've payed a lot of money and spent a large chunk of my free time on this game, neglecting sleep and sometimes even work to take part in events or grind for items. These days, I'm considering quitting.

People are dropping from this game like flies from the Assassin, and there are several reasons. One important reason is that grinding in this game is often even more repetetive and boring than it is in other MMOs. Now that the story be default also involves just that type of grinding, I won't be surprised if we lose another bunch.

I've played other MMOs, but so far nothing has been able to hold my attention the way MxO has. AoC came close, but I found a lack in motivation in that. The only thing it offered as a carrot was higher levels and further abilities. WoW at least offers new areas, but I hate the graphics of that game. MxO offers story - both 'static' side stories in each and every neighborhood; stories that are interlinked and interesting, and more importantly - an ever-evolving and intruiging main story.

The key thing that has had me playing MxO over the other MMOs I've tried is the ability to Choose. I could choose if I wanted to solo or play in teams; I could choose if I wanted to grind or casually level. I could choose to dedicate a lot of time and effort to interacting with liaisons and events to get the full story. I could choose to grind for rewards, or grind for info and buy them instead (in many cases).

A lot of that choice has now been made for me, just like in other MMOs.

The suggestion to open up the Quests for every level but keep the rewards at lvl 50 is a good one. Make sure the tokens for the rewards only drop from fixed level mobs, and the challenge remains for the 50s, while opening the story to easier participation for low-levels and casual players.

The question is this: does MxO as a whole benefit from alienating certain players by forcing them to  commit more time and effort to the game?

The answer is no. It benefits MxO to keep itself accessible to all, both high and low level; power gamer or casual player.

It's as simple as that.

Otherwise, we will be left with nothing but a useless porcelain mask and no flies holding it ip.

This game needs to implement new things for RPers, and new things to get PvPers into RP. RP is why I bought the game (on Revolutions I was like, "omg, I will be best friends with Morpheus!1!" )

On this note i would like to say that is very true, but i highly doubt you will see that happening. The game has been and still is becoming more and more PvP orientated.

But I like this luggable node idea, it is a way to make even better money for those of us who cannot spend 2/3 of our life in Datamine.

This is a good point indeed but also on this not. It will only be a good thing provided they place all or at least two of them outside of Data Mine. Otherwise it makes them pointless. Except to push for hey hes got the xX% luggable for Data nodes. Quick get him. Which yes if one is in Data Mine thats exactly what will happen. But outside of it finding that person will be more of a challenge. But with one in yes they will probably nerf the percent given in Data Mine but unless your lucky to find it while there are little to no people in the construct it will just be a run for your life to keep it so you can hopefully use it.

This is why I would like to see more RP content, I remember how let down everyone felt when those props came out.

That's an excellent idea! One of these luggables in each map of MegaCity (possibly two in downtown) and maybe a maximum of three in DataMine (though less is more in that case, I think).

More focus on RP and RP events is sorely needed, the only question is how to do it, and how to get those making the decisions to implement it - and also, how to get the RPers involved.

there with alot of $i on their hands, but many won't be able to afford

I'm sure there are even many smaller factions that can't easily afford a key for the entire faction to use...

The room with the red armchairs, the tv and the coffee table is in the tutorial (or was, at least - not sure if they took it out, it was kinda pointless...) - the CSRwhite room has a desk-like table and two regular chairs, and was never in the movies. Oh, and not sure how it is at lvl50, but below that level not every kill gives out 100K.

Personally, I think there are too many short-time buff abilities in the system as it stands now.

While it is great to be able to customize your style to this extent, I feel that all the refreshing and planning takes away from the enjoyment of combat.

I realize this will become less of an issue as I grow more accustomed to the system, but I have a feeling that this is going to penalize the more casual players.

Feedback Forums Ability Feedback Sniper, no Sniping Re: Sniper, no Sniping thornTree 0 02/23/2006 15:33
NoRepro - I was comparing it to the Rifleman abilities of the same 'tree-level', where the 'best' ability is better than the best sniper shot.

Three-round burst takes shorter to load, requires 1 state, and does more damage

Deadly shot (if that's what it's called) takes longer to load, requires you to stay concealed (effectively 2 requirements - you need to stay put, and no one can spot you) and does less damage. Plus, it is useable in a lot less situations.
Feedback Forums User-Interface Feedback Option to remove the interlock targeting reticles Re: Option to remove the interlock targeting reticles thornTree 0 02/20/2006 09:15

unfortunately, that's not the way CR2 is designed =/

Can't speak for level 50 balance, but at 35 I've found that I can take on 2-3 con orange NPCs in missions with only a moderate hazard to my health (2 if one is more than 1 chevron, otherwise 3), using Rifleman.

Hackers seem to hit me with about 15% of their attacks, and I haven't gone out of my way to add protective buffs.

Seems that mobs are just slightly too easy with this latest patch, around lvl 35 at least.
