Tell me what you guys think... Read the whole thing if you want to. Don't mention any names here cause I don't want to be the cause of another moderator lock.  I just want yall's opinion on this whole... F-up.

Yah, I know there are tons of these.  But I feel mine is special, in a way.  I photochopped this image to h3ll and back.  In the real picture I am about 500 pts away from deing, all these NPCs are gray to me, my free-fire box is not open, my chat box isn't that big, my buff bar isn't that full, yadda-yadda-yadda...  But I fixed it all and this is the final product.  I hope know you'll like it.   =)
  • Interlock score box is right under the attack buttons.  It would drop down or slide over when in combat.
  • For those wondering where the attack menus went, their on their respective attack buttons.  A nice 13x13 triangle that helps you during combat.  This would be the same as the current system on the live servers.  The close combat menu drops and opens up the combat HUD; speed, power, grab, block, withdraw.  The original green buttons would return once interlock combat is over.
  • The cued attacking ability would glow yellow until it's used then it would flash and fade away fast.
  • The buff bar is self explanitary.
  • The hotbar selcting buttons have been increased in size.  They are currently way too small.
  • I contracted the space between the hotbars.  It looked better this way.
  • Both the primary and secondary hotbars have the names 1-0... not 10.  There's no need to explain in that small amount of space which button to press.  Looking that information up in a manual or in the leyboard settings should be enough for players.
  • Level Deltas need a recoloring.  I died in this picture, even though it doesn't look like it.  If lower levels can hurt players, then players need to be warned.  Adjust the colors so that a 21 Delta and below is gray.  This also means that the equal Delta level will have to be expanded more; 45-55 should be yellow to a 50.
  • That's it.  Enjoy! .....and wipe your chins.  SMILEY

That's the synopsis I've been getting from everyone lately.  If the DEVs have a way to tone down these insane damage values, I think we'd all appreciate it.  Sometimes it's nice to have a Crucial Hit 1k damaging ability, but 4kWe might as well let loose the 10k anti-proxy ability on players too. (hmmm, maybe it already does? testing...)
 
And it also seems as though if you are in interlock you are at an even more disadvantage now than before.  I could see this only 1 on 1 interlock with zero-sum, and just speed up the longer animations so that they equal free-fire times.  But now we have interlock with odd-sum, hostiles surrounding the "locked" player with free-fire while he wins all his attack rolls, and the player still dies.  But iduno, maybe this is the way it was supposed to be in the beginning.
 
Maybe all I'm really missing is what attack am I going to do nextWhat attack am I doingWhat is my current roll now and not what I rolled earlier?  What is my enemy rolling now?  What attack is he using against me now?
 
I like the new buffs though.  Those immediate buffs are cool.  =)
 
 
But for now, those who are just trying out the server, I'll give this general advice.
 
Roll out of interlock when near multiple hostiles; NPC or RED.
or you'll die.

This would just come in handy when doing RP and other such things.  Back when I was a lowbie I had a macro setup that I could ask for help with a simple press of the button.  It had everything I needed except for the attackers loadout, his org and my exact coordinates.  The Neighborhood was ok,... not really...  but the coords would've been better.
 
Would it be possible to add these to our list of chat values to use.

I'm going to start up something, hopefully every week.  I hope it goes well with the community.  This may belong elsewhere, like events, but this board get's the most player attention so I'm posting here first.  Mods, please feel free to move it if you think it belongs elsewhere.





 

I don't think it is possible, so I challange someone out there to do it.

 

The player that posts a macro that best immitates the Macarena Dance, shall be known as the Macro Dancing Guru  (MDG).  =)  I will match any monetary reward donated by someone on Recursion or Syntax, for Vector.  (I don't have any high level characters on the other servers.)  I will also make the winner an animated sig if they wish.  With MDG proudly displayed.  =)


MISSION: Create a macro that dances your RSI to the Macarena.

DEADLINE: Before the retrograde satellite makes two full rotations.

GUIDELINES: Just get as close as possible to the dance.

RESOURCESThe Macarena Dance Video (sry... best vid I could find)

DESCRIPTION: To perform the dance, one places their right arm out, palm down, then left arm, palm down. Then the dancer overturns their hands so that palms are up, right, then left. The dancer then puts his hands on his shoulders, or elbows, first right on left, then left on right. Then the dancer puts his hands on his head, right then left. The dancer then places his arms on his hips, right hand on left hip, then left on right, and then places the hands on their respective hips, right then left.  And finishes with a pelvic rotation in time with the line "Hey Macarena!" Then the dancer turns 90 degrees clockwise and repeats the same motions throughout the whole song. An alternative version of the dance replaces the pelvic rotation with a pelvic thrust.

Well, I figured I might as well post this here cause not too many of my faction mates RP, and I was wondering what yall might think.  So here it goes.





Blocked Exit


The meeting concluded with Agent Gray's classic line, "That is all." It seemed the Guardians' services to the Machines were particularly invaluable due to their unwavering devotion.  Strangely enough, there was more drama between Machinist than Zionites and their rebel Morpheus followers.  Besides the Jokerz, most other Machine factions had either disolved or had temporarily switched sides to "teach" other Machine operatives a lesson or two: actions considered deplorable by the Machines.  Agent Gray knew he could put his trust with G7G in carring out top-secret missions.

This particular mission was deemed an investigation. It wasn't anything too serious, but it was obvious that Agent Gray wanted to hand pick the investigator himself. He asked for a volunteer and Oranos stepped forward. The meeting concluded and Gray sent the details to the G7G HvBrg.

"Well that was particularly interesting," said Cognoscente as he left the room where the meeting had just concluded.
"Which part? The part where Agent Gray called a meeting to ask for a volunteer? Or the part where Oranos volunteered after partying all night?" Apsu replied.
"He was partying last night?" asked Cog with a surprised look about his face.
"Oh yeah. He was up pretty late partying inside the Matrix. I'm not sure what club..."
"I think it was Club Avalon," answered Lesona.
"Hmm, maybe. I really don't know," Apsu concluded as they entered an elevator and pressed the button that took them to the main floor of the office building.
"Either that one or Club Kaos," Lesona said. "He really likes Club Kaos."
"Well that explains why I didn't know. I went to bed rather early last night," Cog paused for a second and continued, "And that also explains why he was yawning. I swear that man is going to die of sleep-deprivation before AJS fails on him."
"Well, I don't know about you all, but it's still rather early to me," said Apsu. "I think I'm going back to bed as soon as I jackout."

The elevator hit the bottom floor with a gentle thud and the doors slid open, revealing a lobby filled with people walking around.

"Kursion, you've been pretty quiet after that meeting." said Cog as they made their way through the crowd.
"Well, I don't have much to say. I hope Oranos does well." Kursion replied.

The silence between them continued as they walked through the bustling bluepills, always trying to get something done, as if any of it mattered. Well, it some sense it did. Bluepills could still die or become sick still from natural causes, even if they were just code. The world did not seem unrealistic to them. Everything was as real as the next papercut they got, blood pouring forth onto their skin.

"OWww!" some bluepill exclaimed as he cut himself with a stack of papers.
"Ya gotta be careful, anything can get you." said a strange booming voice. Everything stoped. The bluepills who were once chatting and moving about were now all still, with a few poor souls who knew not what was going on; their actions quickly silenced by their friends.

The bluepills parted the way and a man in a long dark coat was standing on the upper landing next to the entrance. A team of five Zion Operatives were standing behind him with submachine guns at the ready. Theirs mouths all smirking with overconfidence. A gust of wind blew some papers off a desk as the swinging doors at the entrance continued to twirl.

Cognoscente halted the rest of g7g who were still advancing towards the doors.

"Hey boys, looks like we caught ourselves some bad guys," said Bonopi. A security guard in a corner began to call in reinforcements not so quietly. "Silence that mouth or I'll shut it up for you," threatened Bonpi with a pistol pointed in the man's direction. The guard quickly shut up and laid his head down.

"What do you want Bonopi?" asked Cognoscente.
"The same thing every redpill wants Cog, freedom. Freedom to do what we believe in." He said as he was advancing on the Guardians. "And you, my friend, do not give us that freedom."
"What? The freedom to pluck people from the Matrix and destroy everything they worked for?" Cognoscente retorted.
"Tsk, tsk, Cog. Now you know these people we save, want it. They ask for it." said Bonopi as he began to circle the group.
"Not always,"
"We can only say we're sorry so many times for what happened to you Cog."
"Yeah well, why don't you keep trying." Cog said, his anger showing through his voice.
"Listen, we aren't here to discuss the past."
"Then why don't you get on with your business, Zerg."

Bonopi turned in a fit of rage and yanked on Lesona's hair sending her into his arms. She gasped. Kursion and Apsu readied themselves and paused before drawing their guns fully out. "Now why do we have to resort to name calling?" asked Bonopi. His fist tightened as he yanked out a patch of hair from Lesona. Her hair came loose and she fell partly to the floor. Regaining herself, she stood back up as if nothing had happened. Her eyes narrowed.

"We're here on a mission. And if you get in our way, your lives are forfeit."
"Well, then that settles things. We were just leaving." Cog said with a fake smile. He started to make his way past Bonopi when a muffled shot rang out. He looked at Bonopi, he smiled back. "Your in my way." Cog's legs began to sway. His vision began to fade. It was obvious to him that he had been shot in the chest, but he reactively looked down anyway. Blood was pouring from the wound. His shirt was soaking to the last thread. He fell to his knees as he heard Lesona yell out in the distance "**bleep**!!!"

As his vision turned to black, he heard the sounds of gunfire being exchanged.  He didn't know if he was still standing or laying in his own pool of blood.  He didn't have time to think any last thoughts as his heart slowed to its last beat and his vitals ceased to be.

The whole team was laid to waste with one Zionist seriously injured. The bluepills were all in shock burying their heads deeper into hiding. Not one of them moved to see what had happened. The guards did not call in reinforcements. The Zionists walked over the Guardians dead corpses and into the elevator. The doors closed in behind them.

As the bluepills began to slowly recover from hiding, they saw the damage that was inflicted on their office space during the battle. A lot of empty shells, ruined furniture, glass shards, the smell of gunpowder, and a floor absent of any evidence of death. The team that was once there, was not now. Traditional bluepill perplexity ensued.

We now have the Q&A server.  Many in the community have thought of using it as a "testing" battleground between the servers.  Each server would be under a different org.  3 servers, 3 orgs

So this is up to you now.  Start discussing.  If you don't want to take part - fair enough - but wouldn't you like to see how well you compare against the other servers?  It's not as though you are leaving your organization since there will be no LET interaction on the test server.  The server is for pure extreme "testing" purposes ONLY.

 

Currently Vector wants to go Machine and Recursion merv but these arent set in stone.  We would be better off if we could finalize this before the server comes online.

 

As an example, differing factions could implement their original faction and org in this manner.

So please discuss, state your opinion, argue, whatver you like.  Just don't flame and lock this post.

 

As a little bonus feature, all of the machinist on Vector will be in one giant faction; Vector Machines.  Whether we are Zion, Merv or Mac does not matter to us.  We will help each other "test" this server to it's max through faction chat.  >D

Ignoring the fact that Agents do this, are Exiles able to regulate their own population growth?  Exiles are living, breathing, massive memory hungry programs that live in the Matrix just like bluepills only they are able to manipulate it somewhat due to their knowledge of the code structure.  They do not provide any reasources or energy, they do not work, they do not die naturally, they feed off of the energy from the Matrix to sustain themselves without giving anything back.

 

Sounds like leetches and bums to me... even if they are sentient beings.

 

Why would anyone want to help them?

Guardians of the 7th Gate
((our purpose in RP format))

 

   In a time before our time, our human ancestors destroyed Earth.  The Dark Sky project was an attempt to bend machines to human will.  This project was unecessary, and costs thousands of lives and any future plans of habiting the surface of the planet.  Due to their advance AI, Machnies began to take actions against the humans and their potentially self-annihilative powers - they were a danger to everything, even themselves.

 

   The world's vegitation was dying.  The Earth's core was cooling.  The sky was dark, enveloped by electrified clouds which prevented any prospect of traveling into space.  The inhabitants of Earth were now on a proverbial island, imprisoned by a inescapable stygian blanket.

 

   Although humans were dangerous, they were still an intelligent anomaly to study and learn from.  They were also known to be an abundant source of heat which could be tranformed into energy.  Several human pod farms were created to collect this heat and use it in a complicated fusion process known as **ENCRYPTED**.  Using this source of energy, Machines could contiue to live as normal without the sun.  No longer would they have to worry about geo-thermal electricity while the Earth's core cools to critical levels.  Several instances of a program called the Matrix were created to please the humans inside their pods.  The first few, created as perfect worlds, failed miserably.  But as time went on, a theoretical forumla was developed by the Architect and the Oracle.

 

   The theory states that every Matrix version will contain a systemic anomaly that will have a code which if reinserted into the prime program will bring order and stability to the Matrix allowing bluepills to accept the programming until another systemic anomaly resurfaces.

 

   The Zion cave exists soley because of the Oracle's potential anomalies that were awakened.  Failling to advance past a singularity, their anomalitive existence themselves, if left unchecked, are a threat to the Matrix.  But they are essential when determining the location of future potential anomalies.  Due to her intuitive knowledge of the Matrix, the Oracle cannot free minds herself; doing so will interfere in the mental advancement of the canidate.  Therefore redpills who are ignorant of the process are required.  A very dangerous game indeed.

 

   The unforeseen destructive Smith virus, and the self-sacrifice of the human anomaly, Neo, lead to a truce and machine tolerence of Zion.  Machines have honorably let Zion live.  But this peace is tenuous and can fail at anytime if the conditions of the truce are broken.  The Machines created rules that allowed the human anomalies some freedom of movement and the permission to free a limited amount of willing minds to prevent substantial loss of energy production and overpopulation of Zion - which humans have a history of accomplishing.  Over-crowding is not an ideal situation for neither the humans nor the machines.

 

   But the term limited is very specific in regards to redpill Matrix disconnections.  The Zion's have limited freedom meaning that they can "free minds" only until the power generators notice more than negligible drops.  When Morpheus went about freeing hordes of un-willing bluepills, he created a serious power problem that even the Merovingian was fearful of.  Several Zion operatives were also observed assisting Morpheus in his dangerous quest.

 

   Recently, there has been an large influx of redpills into the Matrix ((merger)).  The only plausible explanation for this is that Zion is "freeing" many more minds than they are allowed.  Although they seem to be following by the book, most machinist factions believe Zionists are using loopholes in the system to slowly degrade the stability of the Matrix - following in the footsteps of Morpheus.  Those same Zion operatives who were assisting Morpheus before are at it again.  Something needs to be done to those who are still roaming free without punition even though they were accomplices.

 

   Machinists, it is up to us to protect the stability.  You may have even begun to notice areas of the Matrix under intense strain.  Agents are not going to lay down the law against "freedom" offenders for fear of violating the truce, so it is up to us to prevent Zion from their own self-destruction.  Untill they slow their recruitment process, they shall be hunted for their own good.

 

   This of course has nothing to do with the Merovingian slaves.  Operatives that serve the Merovingian have, and always will be, located and deleted.  The Merovingian already has too much power as an exile; his end is near as well as any lap-dogs that follow at his heels.  Exiles are space wasting programs that are not essential to the flow of the Matrix.

I like what they are planning to do with the Content, Marketplace, Combat System and Spy Tree. They are totally overhauling everything and putting it back the way they want it. They are experts at MMO's, so I trust what they are doing.

I know this has been done several times by others, but here are some thoughts for more content and changes to the game as the way it is now. It is a little long so if you don't want to read it, just glance at the headlines I put at the top of each suggestion.

Organization Balance
A new redpill contact should be created that provides the first few crit missions until the redpill is able to choose which organization to side with. Before completing these crits, the redpill is not alligned with any organization. When gaining reputations, their alignment will change and they will not be able to go back to a neutral state. If leveling to 16 and they still have not choosen a side, Zion will default. New redpills should be greeted by all the mission contacts in a special "Meet the Organizations" mission once they have completed all their crits.

Looting NPCs and Redpills
When we loot NPCs we are forced to take all the items that are on an NPCs body. Allow us to select which items we want and leave the rest. Currently there is no looting off of Redpills. If looting was allowed with some sort of lootable item, such as a random object in their inventory, there would be a reason not to die besides a lame Death Effect. And since we'd still have the option to reconstruct, if we saw an enemy lurking around our body we'd be able to escape their greedy hands before they got what they want.

Organizational Control Zones
If one org does the most missions in a certain neighborhood, they control that zone or neighborhood. This control zone would only show up on the atlas. Being in control would reward the organization with _____ while inside the zone.

Interference Missions
Create a new type of mission called Interference Missions with all of the same options as standard missions. Two organizationally different teams go head-to-head in the same mission trying to complete different, but similar, objectives before the other. On regular servers, teams would automatically flag-up at the start, but stay unflagged to everyone else.

Dynamic Missions
When coming to the final phase of an assissination mission, have the target panic and try to run out of the mission area to escape, instead of throwing insults and attacking.  If they are sucessful and run outside, you would have to give chase and hunt them down. Once outside, an automatic mission waypoint would be generated so that you cannot lose total track of them. When coming to the final phase of a delivery mission, have the target in a field, construction zone, park or near a hardline.  Change the scenery; bring the missions outside of the boring buildings once in a while.

Official MxO Ladder Ranking System
A database created that ranks individual players by their CQs. Viewable on a special page on the MxO website. Multiple CQs are awarded to winners and subtracted from losers individually, by most damage done, adjusted through level restrictions. If a 30 defeats a 50, the 50 loses, and the 30 gains, more than 1 CQ. If the 50 defeats the 30, 1 CQ is awarded to the 50, the 30 loses nothing. I have a more detailed example of how this would work.

Transportation and Long Distances
Reducing the max speed of Hyperspeed was a good thing. But transporting players from one section of the city to another (Richland to International), is currently way too fast. There are too many HLs everywhere, which causes people to just teleport to get somewhere fast. In reality, we shouldn't even be able to teleport. Cars and motorcycles would be a nice change to the transportation issue. I would much rather ride in my team's car to our mission area, than teleport there. The subway should actually transport players through the city, with a nice view of the scenery, taking time to get to the final destination. And if we remove the teleport option entirely, this would give reason to use vehicles and the subway. But since there would obviously be those who abuse their privledge to drive, have the vehicles cost a lot and be very sensitive to off road driviing.

Interactive Environments
When agents are on your tail, The Matrix Trilogy has shown us that being able to jump out of a window has proven a reliable form of an emergency escape option. Click on the window and select "Jump Out". Depending on if you are running to the window or just standing next to it will determine your character's animation while falling and reacting to the glass shattering and cutting your RSI. -- All mission doors should have the option "Break Down" which should aggrevate all surrounding NPCs to the intruder. -- Include an ability to flip-off and run on walls while interlocked in a room. I suggest placinge it in the Focus branch on Awakened and call it the passive "Revelation" ability, Dodge Ranged +10, required level 16.

Realtime Environments
Implement season changes to the city according to the northern hemisphere. How cool would it be if the city changed with the seasons of the actual world? When it got closer to winter time, it would snow off and on in MegaCity.  In the spring, the snow would melt and the wind and rains would come. Summertime would be, sunny and occasionally a light storm would kick in.  Fall would change the colors of the leaves on trees, leaves would fly in packs down streets and gather in corners.  The city would decorate itself during holidays such as Halloween or Christmas.  Since Megacity is a real city to the Bluepills, they would still celebrate these things. It would be nice to see something like this, some great visual content and a wonderful change of scenery!

Real Environments
Communications with important bluepills (shop owners, waiters) should yeild more interesting information through the use of Q&A dialogs. Waiters in restraunts should walk around the dining areas. Bartenders should be more lively. Blue Pills that wander the streets should walk inside buildings once in a while. Bluepill boats need to use the waterways more often. Information (?) NPCs should walk around near their respective hardlines and provide useful programs. Example: Master Takwen will teleport a redpill to a dojo and teach special techniques and moves.

Interactive Gangs
Allow players to trade and communicate with gangs. Depending on their level, communcations and trading could be simple or completely outrageous. Low ranking gang members would communicate in simple sentences. High ranking gang members would give options such as "Buy Protection" which would elicit his squad to help you in combat. Gang leaders would be able to carry on Q&A dialogs and give several political options in regards to his gang, with cost.

Club Bouncers
When things go awry inside clubs and someone starts a fight, bouncers should spawn just like the hostiles in missions when they jump out of nowhere and start kicking your *CENSORED*. We could see some usefull PvP and PvE in this respect, not to mention some safety for chillin on a hostile server.

Mission Agent Attacks
Improve the agent spawning animation.  At the end of a sucessful mission have a bluepill walk from the entrance of the building, go up or down the elevators, and into to the mission area. If the team is still there, begin the transformation. Or just reduce the agent spawn timer to 1:30 min when completing a successful mission, and 30 sec when aborting a mission. And improve the AI by having agents follow the team even when hyperjumping.

Animation Adjustments and Special Effect Enchancements
Hyperspeed blur needs to be removed when idle.
Gaussian Blur puff of smoke needs to be changed.
With less than 10% HP, your RSI should automatically change to Hurt Mode until you're healed.
When creating a character, there should be an option to change the height: 4' to 7'
After a full blast of Hyperjump, the landing will cause the surface to crack along with a sound effect.
Powerful punches and kicks that cause characters to fall to the ground should cause dust and debris to fly up.
Characters in combat near ledges where the only action is to fall after being hit, should fall off the ledge, automatically followed gracefully by the attacker.
Furniture in mission rooms should react to combat by moving or breaking when under pressure.
Walls should react to combat by cracking or breaking when characters are thrown against them.

Food and Drink
Waiters and bartenders should be able to sell us food and drinks with effects. The Merovingian's Orgasm cake should be sold inside Club Hel. When drinking alcohol (or call it something else), the player's RSI will change to drunk mood, text should be slurred when chatting, and the player's screen should wave and blur as visual effects to indicate the drunken stupor.

Dancing
More dancing options need to be added: Break Dancing, Disco, two-player dancing, Tango, The Robot.

Games
Inside buildings there are pool tables, poker tables, dart boards, arcade machines, fues-ball tables, etc., they should be interactive as the games they represent. -- Natural multiplayer games that require equipment, scorekeeping or additional information, such as Capture the Flag, King of the Hill, Racing, Oddball and Guard Territories, should be implemented into the game to augment PvP and OvO. Basic deathamtch PvP and OvO on hostile servers has brought a lot of people to quit the game due to boredom.

Client-side Player Controlled Bullet Time
Remove the random Bullet Time there is currently and give players a hot-key to select Bullet Time whenever they want it, but no longer than 5 sec. Include all the visual effects of the action. The hot-key would work just as Bullet Time does now. When pressing the key, time will increase, when the key is released Bullet Time will commence to return the player back to normal time. (Hot-key idea is in refference to Monolith's game F.E.A.R.)

Manipulate RSI
Our RSI's are a vision of what we believe ourselves to look like, therefore we should be able to change what we look like. Minor changes to the body such as tattos, eye color, scars, hair style and color, should all be allowed. Total body reconstruction should not be allowed, except in the case of disguises.

Future Additions as an Expansion pack
The movie was not entirely set inside the Matrix program and the game shouldn't be limited as such. Half the time it was shot outside in The Real. I suggest an expansion pack called The Real, or MxO: Reloaded, which includes the real world as well as additional constructs and areas of the city. The Real would be composed of Zion, a secret Merovingian dock, a Machine dock, The Human Fields, The Guarded Mountains, City 01, couple of small Machine towns, two old human cities, and the underground tunnels. Factions would receive their own fleet of HvCrFT in The Real once they have proven themselves through cumulative play time and reputation points. Several HvCrFT will be awarded to active factions. Each day, a HvCrFT will be selected by the first faction member to login, and every member after that will login to that HvCrFT untill full or another one is activated. The HvCrFT will be fully outfitted with all the regular equipment. Players will be able to select at the appropriate sections to jack-in, be the operator, pilot or co-pilot the ship, man the turrets, or provide medical or engineering support.
