I'm kind of hoping this is the right forum, as while related to a paticular type of ability, I have to admit my knowledge is... limited at best, and I'm by no means a veteran, or even really all that average yet. So... is it practical to specialize in the use of Proxys at level 17? I'm considering trying it out for a nice change of pace, but at the same time I'm worried about them not being very effective, or what to do, or how to properly back one up...

I myself am having the exact same problem, on the Syntax server? I also exited the game from the Loading Area, so I'm not sure what to make of this.

Stats becoming TOO important, what I mean... something I love about Matrix Online is that you can rather easily change what your char does, however I'm worried that now you'll need to know all the little details about the stats in advance and follow a strict stat "build", or you'll either be stuck doing one thing forever, or simply end up inferior to other players with no chance of closing that gap, ALA Diablo 2.

I don't think the pants themselves can be traded, 'though I may be wrong on that.

Abilites, in either the loading area or at a hotline should be what your looking for. o.o

So as I'm just going into actual Martial Arts ingame, I'm wondering what each of the three styles do. And which one is the most newbie friendly?

Alright... so any tips on running good ol fashion Assassination/Kill everyone that moves missions? I tried a Hard mission and nearly instantly died, and for some reason Medium missions still give me ALOT of trouble if I get more then one hacker on me at once. Mainly because I have to stand there trying to interlock repeatedly which gives them more free hits then I care to count.

Hrm, I tried a hard mission period and found it borderline impossible to handle alone. Bluntly put, I lost half my life in two hits against an MAer, I wasn't about to stick around and wait for a Hacker to pull something. But Medium missions aren't giving bad XP right now either. How much XP do Hard missions get compared to Medium?

Now, I see no topic regarding this despite the fact I was told there were plenty of posts about it, and despite my trying I haven't been able to find any either so I figured I'd pop one up myself. What's the worst that could happen?

Anyways onto the topic itself, I was told this was a quick and by far the easiest way to gain XP, but so far I've noticed anything but. Mainly as it still involves combat. I haven't seen a mission yet that didn't promptly tell me to go kill someone to get an item, so... what gives exactly?

Are Spy's sneak attacks really strong enough to take out an orange-con one on one in the first hit alone? o_O So far I haven't been willing to go on such a seemingly suicidal mission so I've been sticking to Tiny/Medium Assassination missions...

Now I'm not 100% sure this is the right forum to put it in, I was wondering if maybe this belongs in chara development but when I think about it, it's more asking how to use Spy then good ways to get XP, so... this seems more like the right place to me.

That's the problem, I killed every NPC I could get to but none of them had a key. Anyways I'm past that mission now...

Right now my main issue is not being able to figure out how to do those Infiltration missions on tiny/hard that everyone says is the best way to get XP, they want me to go in there and kill somebody. o_O Every single time. So far they've seemed nearly indentival to Asassination missions in the regard that no matter what, I've gotta fight.

What's with everyone leaving right when I join? o_O I'm seriously hoping I didn't pick the wrong game to jump to from SWG...

Anyways, I got through that mission thanks to a friend of mine, however the Spy and Infiltration thing isn't working so well. It keeps wanting me to kill somebody... suffice to say I can't kill people very well on Hard at level 9. Is there a trick to things?

Well, now I'm also stuck on a mission. The Stolen Artifact? I've tried it twice so far, and ended up getting stuck at a point where I had to use an ability I didn't have. The first time around I ran into a locked door and there was no key, the second time I had to hack a comp to get the documents. Both times I had to abort the mission because I didn't have the skills needed to pull that off. So what gives? And why is the NPC who's with me doing nothing at all? Even in a fight he just stands there watching.

So at what point again do you get the ability to run general missions? Being level 8 now, street grinding does seem to be slowing down quite a bit. o.O I'm at 9 rep right now as well.

Alright thanks everybody! Took a real short break from MxO due to RL, back now. I see plenty of people have posted with rather helpful posts! my only question, are you sure attacking from outside the mission area isn't exploiting? I'm worried about getting banned if I do something like that.

I agree with the last poster, things should be more determined on a case by case basis. Now, I'm pretty new to MxO, only level 7 in fact. However, speaking from the standpoint of a newbie I can say that if I didn't know better, it would seem that the RPing community had a habit of excluding things they simply didn't like from the no hacking rule, so making these hard rules for RPvPing across the server would be a very bad idea in my personal opinion. Good suggestions though, as long as they remain more guildlines and less concrete rules for the whole server.

However I've gotta say, the fact this isn't a tremendous flame war and is still at debate level is a breath of fresh air from the Star Wars Galaxies forums.

Customization in missions = Pure win. Should also include like, being able to control what level the mobs your gonna face are a bit better, IE: Being able to go for red cons or green cons too?

Ack! I knew I got the name wrong, I meant Cheap shot in the first place. Ok I'll try to get Multi-fighting then, it sounds rather useful for when I'm in a two on one or something. If I could just find a reliable source of tactics boosters, maybe I could still take two yellows con at once then...

Ok let's get these figured out... my loadout is generally as far up the MA tree as I can go at level 7, (Martial Arts Expertise + all prereqs) and I take low blow plus that overhead hit, I don't use guns inside of interlock combat, I use health pills except most of the time I'm completely out of them. and I use the consistant technique + detect vulns skills, and that's pretty much it. I also took a side skill on the Operative/Soldier path but I forget which one, not the Data node one though.. uhm shoot, I can't remember what it was offhand.

Moondog, the problem with retreating back to a hallway to heal up or something isn't in that I'm too weak after winning a fight. It's that the first fight I get into kills me most of the time. Even one on one, my odds of beating a yellow con are next to nonexistant. I've done it, but most of the time I'm killed. And then keep in mind that in a mission, I dunno if this is normal? But one on one's are EXTREMELY rare. Most of the fights I run into on a mission are two on one, outright garunteeing my death. This is why I'm asking if I'm doing something wrong, I understand yellow cons should be tough, but right now it's full on suicide.

Again, doesn't matter if I retreat back to heal up or not, it's that I can't beat anything. IF I'm lucky enough to get into a one on one, I'm still killed most of the time. Sometimes I don't even come that close to winning.

EDIT: And yes, I've been remembering to keep all my skills leveled as I'm going.

So I'm going MA for the time being, and I've tried Proxy, but I gotta say am I missing something when it comes to missions? Easy missions give pretty much no XP at all, but Medium missions are downright suicide. Two yellow cons at much in most fights is simply too much, and even one yellow con has a rather high chance of killing me. I tried Proxy-usage, but the moment any fighting starts I promptly get targeted and killed making it kinda useless. More then once I've had a mob completely ignore the Proxy and keep shooting at me untill the Proxy put away the gun and went for interlock, and even then I still tend to draw attention moreso then the proxy does. So am I missing something in regards to things? Since so far, leveling has been slowing way way down due to a lack of mission XP.

Another question, after what crit mission do you unlock general missions?

ANOTHER question, what should I try for now since MA seems to be suicide in a medium mission, same with Proxy unless I somehow don't draw aggro? I hear Hacker has tremendous offense, but it looks a little fragile...

Also, how much does it cost to have some Tactics Boosters coded for me? I noticed that when using them, my odds of winning a given fight increase dramaticly, but I have very few of them to spare and I'm finding far fewer then I'm using. (Are Tactics Boosters the key to handling Medium level missions? Since right now they aren't medium, it's suicide. I've never pulled off a Medium mission that's involved combat, and I've almost never killed any yellow cons either.) Or maybe guns...

Basically what the topic asks, I'm not entirely sure what to do with my points right now since I'm not sure what I'll do. While for now I'm MA, at some point I plan to try everything on this char, so I'm leaning towards stats that would help overall with a slight focus on MA... Perception/Belief good for that?

Seems we just had a little event go down in Mara C with some tough Masked dudes. So the meeting got pushed back an hour.

I'd personally like to be present myself, even if only to get to witness a meeting of this size and importance go down. 'cept for the slight problem I don't actually know how to get there, and being level 7, chances are I'd get killed attempting to get there. <_<; Anyone have any ideas?
