  I wanted a new, fresh, clean thread in order to announce specific information pertaining to the tournament, because it will be updated during the tournament. If this is not allowed, then mods please PM me and delete this.


Item Hunt
Throughout the tournament I will be announcing items. The first person to put these items in a trade window with me will get into the tournament without having to pay the 30 mil info entry fee, and fight the odd man out. These items will be announced here, on a post edited constantly, so everyone watching the tournament who wants to get in should be watching this thread as well. Items will be indicated by this icon:



Stats
Stats of everything going on in the tournament will be posted here. This includes who vs. who, who won, who lost, the item of the round to find, and who gets in due to finding the item from the audience or if they were previously disqualified. All of these things will be indicated by easy to locate and read ability icons (cute huh?) all thanks to http://thematrix.rumbaar.net 's ability tree guide (lol plug). This will be put in the form of replies, unlike the item hunt which will be in the form of edits to one post. Keep that F5 handy!

Here are the rules of the tournament once again:


  • You must hold the Master Assassin title
  • No Consumable Pills (Including Tactic Booster, Oracle Anniversary Cookie, Override Codes, etc)
  • No Healing (Including healing clothing items) HOWEVER:
  • MOBIUS CODE is allowed.
  • No offensive or self-/target- buff/upgrade abilities from any other trees than SPY (or the trees before it) are to be used.
  • Passive abilities from other trees are allowed.
  • No Kill-Codes (stake, silver bullet, holy water)
  • No Master Shadow
  • You must stay within the boundaries of the crates and crane provided in the Wharf. You may not leave that boundary.
  • Freefire guns and freefire melee are allowed, gun and melee tactics in interlock are allowed.
  • Concealment Countermeasure Tool is allowed.
  • Hyperjump is not allowed.
  • Normal jump is not allowed.
  • Fly in Amber is allowed.
  • Sneak is not allowed. Invisibility is not allowed. Disguises are allowed.
  • Other Assassin's Masks are not allowed.
  • Closed trenches, motorcycle suits, catsuits, and gis will not be allowed to prevent clothing stacking. Judges will be watching. Changing of clothing in battle will get you booted right out. Elite Commando jacket, and any other closed top-only jacket is allowed.
  • No participants will flag during this tournament. This obviously means you can't bring luggables into the area. It would be greatly appreciated if none of the audience attending flags either. It would be very helpful to EVERYONE if the audience stood up against the crates and crane that outlines the wharf area. It would be greatly helpful if people also killed NPCs that roam nearby.
  • You must die sitting in a duel before your match.

  • Depending on the amount of participants, you will only be allowed one fight before being booted or being moved up. Beginning in the semi-finals, wins will be determined by best of 3 rounds. I will have up to 3 duels going at once.

  A story-based alternative to Exile Hideouts, how about some hideouts filled with Machine and Zion aligned NPCs?

A light-bulb appeared over my head when I started doing the lowbie missions and first chapter archive missions. We're always sent to "Machine Data Centers" and "Zion Safehouses", so I figured, why can't we actually FIND these data centers on a regular basis?

The Machine hideout will,  of course, be filled with riot police, riot captains and then Agents with an "Agent LastName" boss, and I guess the Zion hideout can have Zionite operatives of different classes, and then a Zion captain.

The item at the very end can be something you can give in to a Zion or a Machine collector. Maybe these hideouts could be hostile to Merovingian ops, and even Mervs can get something for handing in the Machine or Zion item.

Players of that org can heal and buff these npcs, and even help them out. There can even be a pvp zone in the boss's room.

This would work pretty well in this "we're at war" mode we're in, not to mention how successful the Machine SWAT at the helipad was for a time to stir up some pvp chaos.

A Master Assassin tournament to win the rarest item in the game... On Recursion.

ENTRY FEE: $i 30,000,000 (Thirty Million Info) each.
When to pay: The day of the tournament. I will be at Uriah Wharf most of the day.

Date and time: Saturday, May 31st, 3:00 PM EST
Where: Uriah Wharf, Recursion Instance





WHAT IS THIS?
This will be a standard Thrown Attack-only tier tournament. To qualify, you must be the Master Assassin title class.

First of all, there are only four of these on every server and you can not obtain it any other way than to get it from a player.

Once activated, your character will send out an area debuff (range unknown) every 10 seconds. If deactivated within 20 seconds of activation, it will not be useable until the 20 second reuse timer is up.

To activate, you can right click it in your inventory and click "Activate," or you can put it in your hotbar. Clicking once will equip it, clicking again will activate it. Clicking it once more will deactivate it.



Corruption Pulse:
254 DMG to SELF (Regardless of resistances) every 10 seconds.

Chance of hitting your target is unknown.
D.O.T.: 7 DMG every 5 seconds for 20 seconds.
Toughness (-5%)
Combat Tactics (-5%)

BONUS!
In the middle of the tournament I will be holding a SCAVENGER HUNT of sorts. If there is an odd number of people left running in the tournament, I will give the losers a chance to get back in, and people who did not pay an entry fee to get in for free... But only ONE PERSON per round!

During the tournament, I will ask for a specific NPC dropped item or a group of items. The first person who is not currently a fighter or has lost in a round who trades me those items will get into the next round with an odd number of fighters (to make it even).

So keep your eyes on the area chat!

DO NOT DROP OUT NOW AND EXPECT TO GET IN AGAIN ON THE DAY FOR FREE. That is unfair to the people who will pay and I will either force you to pay or not let you into the tournament.

  I'm just throwing out some examples here to ask my question.

A Kessay AR1 has a higher DPS than a high level sniper rifle, but the sniper rifle does more damage because it takes longer to fire.

Setting an automatic rifle like the Kessay AR1 as PREFERRED will allow you to fire off sniper shots with that rifle, as opposed to a sniper rifle.

Would the sniper rifle still do more damage than a Kessay AR1 when using sniper abilities despite the fact that "firing speed" does not technically factor in to an ability with a set timer for every gun? Or does the Kessay do more damage because it has a higher DPS?

Second question: Why?

  A lot of players have a LOT of override codes, enough to make a small Intruder event of their own. How about bringing back Organizational Collectors' original purpose; Collecting event items for other useful items.

Story-wise, all these override code bits are not safe for the system. You'd think the Machines would collect these codes to dispose of them, and trade them for something useful and safe for humans.

I just don't have much of a clue what they could be traded for that wouldn't break the item balance.

  ... Make EPN and Cyphs hostile at all times.

You heard me. With the Truce around, EPN wasn't protected under it, and Cyphs are walking bulls-eyes to Zion/EPN.

Or, alternatively (and less possibly), make it so that EPN are attacked by Level 100 Agents under any storyline Truce outside of Richland, as well as CYPHs being attacked by pairs of level 50 EPN Crusaders.

Actually, I think the "always hostile" idea would be TERRIBLE for me on a personal scale, but I don't think the second suggestion is actually possible right now (or is it?) and I wanted to know what you thought of it.

  Just thought I'd create some interesting discussion. What is your favorite outfit in the entire game, from player-wear to npcs to LE characters?

Mine is riot gear; Machine security, Machine Captains, Kalt Security, SSR Security. I always thought that if they were available to players, they would be the perfect ballistic and thrown resistance gear. The boots are badass, and so is not being able to see someone's face behind a riot face mask (like SSR and Kalt). The black gear of the Kalt security is really nice-looking. Once I get back to New York I'm gonna take all sorts of screenshots of them, because they're pretty rare to see.

  Is there a way to make it so that players drop their luggables after activating Master Shadow? It's common to find knobs standing around Mara or some unpopulated hardline holding all three special effect luggables in Master Shadow, doing absolutely nothing. This stops people from obtaining the luggables.

  There's a little bug for the Gaussin Blur animation/effect that is only client-side apparently. When you activate the ability, the white blurry shine won't go away even after the ability is deactivated and sometimes even follows you through hardlines. If you re-activate or refresh the ability, you will then have two overlapping effects, and etc. Eventually, it looks like this:







...and lags reeaaaal bad.

I think it may have to do with the fact that the animation appears during the "activating..." stage, before the ability is even applied. If you keep activating and interrupting it over and over you will still get the above effect.

  The new construct is FFAPVP (in before overplayed FAP joke). Friendly fire is ON. So, how many of you will be shooting down your own countrymen?

Personally, I'm all AOE for PVP. Anyone standing in my way will be anywhere between slightly burnt and full-on baked. The only people getting warnings are my own faction. ;)

  Here's the question of discussion I present to you: Was Neo chosen to be The One when he was a lowly bluepill? And if not, when did he become The One, if he ever really was, in terms of programming? Was it all just free will that made him do the things he was able to do? There is a lot of mystery surrounding Thomas Anderson, Neo, and The One that never was explained in the movies or, thus far, this game. So, bake some noodles.




My thoughts: Neo wasn't chosen when he was a bluepill to be the carrier of an Anomaly Code. I think his death (in the hands of Agent Smith), with his will to live (and love) allowed him to force himself back to life. I think Neo touched the Source and it, somehow, spat him back out in the process of having his "data"/RSI deleted. This RSI deletion process wasn't complete and thus brought him back into the simulation in a form ("An Anomaly"SMILEY<img src=" /> that was overpowered and filled with errors.

With the Architect's speech about there being others like Neo in the past (for other versions, or otherwise) it could be possible that others WERE chosen specifically or were programs; but we know Neo was special, and apparently so did the Oracle ("just a feeling" or otherwise; The Oracle possibly testing potential redpills, or testing Neo, in order to end the war). He must have been special enough to end a lengthy war like he did.

  You may find this NPC on the left side of the bridge traffic toll in Mara (if you are facing the bridge).







He hops a bit up and down and shakes as if he is cold. This is a continuous looping animation, and does not end and start again (like any other non-/mood animation or /walllean would).

This is not /mood shifty.

  Since there isn't really one of these, I thought I'd start one. What goes here: Anything pertaining to the "Intruder" aka "Wireframe Man" which seems to be a huge turning point in the story. I also wanna use this thread for people to post in after an Intruder-related event happens and before we have to wait a day before a summary is posted. Also theories go here.

So, we know he can take over Machine programs and accelerate code while creating decelerated code (which may or may not be an intended goal). Apparently in the last event, he had an interest in Heart O the City hotel-- Is this true? Can anyone elaborate?

Agent Gray: Mr. Kennedy, we have been aware for some time now that the Merovingian has been directing the General's Sentinels who managed to escape the Matrix.
These Sentinels have proven difficult to monitor. However, there are indications that they have begun to advance toward sensitive installations on the Earth's surface.
This must not be allowed. Although we are currently engaged in a significant conflict with Zion, it is necessary to take action against the Merovingian in order to cripple or deter his intrusive actions. You will begin this effort immediately, by obliterating one of his profit-making ventures.

Operator: 'Bout time we took the Frenchman down a couple pegs--or maybe a whole ladder.
I've got Exile signals in there. Time to shut down the party.

Elite Guard: Haven't you got some cave-monkeys you should be chasing?

Lupine Lieutenant:
Get your own!

Operator: That should hit the Merv right in the wallet.

Agent Gray: Good. It will also be useful to sever the Merovingian's links with other powerful Exile programs.
One such program is known as the Auditor. The Merovingian has recently raffirmed his working relationship with this program. The Auditor, however, has his own agenda, and does not appear to be a blind adherent to the Merovingian's wishes. It is possible that he may be persuaded to abandon all contact with the Frenchman.

Operator: Our information said that the Auditor was in that office, crunching numbers, or whatever it is he does. I'm reading some Exile programs in the local code stream.

Earle Orcutt: The Machines must be worried indeed if they have resorted to such measures.

Hugh Friesen: Our only goal is to ensure that faulty code is detected and fixed before it is given widespread distribution throughout the simulation, leading to further faults and destabilization. We have no political affiliation.

The Auditor: I believe that I can be a useful factor in the maintenance of the System if I am permitted to screen the Merovingian's code development for faults and errors.
However..since it appears to be the System's desire that he should receive no such aid, I will desist from offering him my services.

Operator: He didn't put up much of a fight, did he? At least someone knows who codes their bread and butter.

Agent Gray:
That measure appears to have been sufficient at this time. We will continue to monitor him,
The Exile Hypatia has given more direct assistance to the Merovingian. Although she claims her information-gathering activities are a harmless commercial venture, recently she has seen fit to offer unusually...sensitive material to the highest bidder. She has made offers to the Merovingian specifically, and we know that at other times in the past she has provided him with information he used to maintain his criminal empire. In light of his current activities, we have determined that the Merovingian must no longer have access to Hypatia's data.

Operator:
Word is that Hypatia's a member of a crusty and super-secretive "Archivist Society," with friends in high places. She may have to cash in some pretty big checks to get out of this one.

Agent Gray: Thank you, Mr. Kennedy. These and other police actions taken by System forces throughout the city will inhibit the Merovingian's ability to acquire classified information.
These operations are ongoing, but at this time I have a task for you that is more directly relevant to the situation at hand.
The Merovingian communicates with the General via a directed relay. A thorough log search has isolated the signal's origin, near your current location. You are to deactivate the relay.

Operator: I've got some Exile programs on the 'scope, and a network system that matches the profile the Machines gave me of the relay system. Time to go to work.

Operator: That's one illegal relay that won't be bothering us again...at least not once the Machine cleanup crew comes along to take the terminal apart for recycling.

Holographic Projection: As you can see, operative, we are prepared for such a contingency. Yes, you may track the source of this message, and deactivate it as well. There will be others.
It's a question of time, isn't it? Suddenly, you have less than you thought. I wonder why? Could it be that the System's lies are finally catching up with it?
I'll admit that I thought Zion would be the first to fall. My mistake.

Operator: Huh! Big talk from a dude too scared to jack in.

Agent Gray: Despite his lackey's bravado, the Merovingian must know that he cannot maintain his organization for long against the full weight of the System. He will have no choice but to curb his activities.

Mission 1: War







Agent Gray: Operative, Cypherite spies have confirmed the existence of a new base built by Zion, intended to protect them from the threat of extermination by our Sentinels should they break the Truce.
This action itself directly undermines the function of the Truce. We have been directed to prevent Zion from extracting more humans from the pods. The use of force against Zion operatives has already begun.
Agent Pace will provide further details of the current situation.

Operator: Zion broke the Truce? We're already fighting them? Holy--

Agent Wilson: Do you hesitate, Mr. Kennedy? Regulations will guide your actions.

Agent Pace: Welcome, Mr. Kennedy. So, we have finally discovered where the supplies leaving Zion have been going for these many months. They have attempted to escape from the Truce by retreating to a more remote base--a place some of them apparently call "New Zion." They seem to hope that a combination of natural strata layers and EMP charges will allow them to disrupt the System with impunity. They will find that they are mistaken.
Zion underestimates our knowledge of their network interfaces within the simulation. Most of their secrets here are already known to us. As they have chosen to violate the law they agreed to follow, they will be punished, and their operations disrupted. Agent Gray will give you your first target.

Operator: I can't believe Zion would do that! Are they crazy? Didn't they know what it would mean?

Agent Pace: Execution of your instructions is your only priority, operative. We must protect the System against all threats.

Agent Gray:
The indicated location is a Zion network hub whose existence has long been known to us. Remove any Zionites in the area, and access the hub terminal to locate further enemy strongholds.

Operator:
I'm reading a computer network in there, and a bunch of unidentified redpill signals.

Agent Gray: Mr. Kennedy, as I am aware that this turn of events concerning Zion carries a certain significance for you, I thought it was best that we should meet face to face at this time. You will find me at the indicated location.

Operator: Got some Machine programs in there. No sign of trouble.
Zion better wise up fast; that's all I'm gonna say.

Agent Wong:
We are pleased to see that your efficiency remains unimpaired by Zion's aggression, Mr. Kennedy.

Agent Gray:
Operative, it is not unexpected that you may have certain feelings or sentiments relating to Zion, and the humans therein. I want to make it clear that we do not engage in the unnecessary termination of life; neither do we take hostilities against Zion lightly. However, Zion's action in constructing a new fortified base reveals a clear intention to resume their past activities of attempting to damage the System, and in this circumstance, the lives of the vast majority of mankind reliant on the continued operation of the Matrix, not to mention the existence of the many programs whose existence depends upon the simulation, must take priority.

Agent Pace:
Tesoro, although we may not often say so, I want you to know that we very much appreciate your efforts on behalf of the System. Many humans do not have your...understanding of the simulation's true importance. We know that you will do your utmost to ensure the continued stability of this world. If only the others had your insight, such terrible conflicts as this one would not exist.

  Tonight, Exivy and Agent Johnson had the EPN crew from last night in custody. EPN, Merovingian and Zionite forces attacked Agent Johnson and took him down. Zion factions were involved in the termination/reconstruction of the Agent, and this is alarming.

Unlike the incident with Niobe which was a human on human altercation, this was a human on machine altercation. This is a direct breach of The Truce. You now know the difference.

  Starting last week (thursday), every time I loaded up MxO or was playing MxO, my harddrive would make a loud click once, then would lock up and would either free up in a few seconds (where the process of locking up and freeing up over and over would commence) or force me to shut my computer down. This only happens with MxO. I thought, maybe, my computer needed to be cleaned. With the sudden increase in temperature and humidity, I figured dust was collecting. So I spent the weekend taking it apart and dusting/vacuuming piece after piece.

It's still doing this, and only with MxO (despite the fact that I am able to run games like F.E.A.R., Half-Life 2/Gmod without a problem) I realize this may be a problem with my harddrive, so any tech theories would help. I have never had this problem before, so I'm not sure if it's MxO, the harddrive itself, the video card, or what.

My local C: drive is a Maxtor 6V300F0, with 279 GB free space.
My video cards (2) are: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT.
I have 1 GB of RAM.
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz
I am running on Windows XP home edition.

Mission 1: A Key with No Lock

Agent Gray: With the destruction of his base on the Earth's surface, the General has been forced into hiding in the Matrix.
Zion's rescue of Sati, made possibly by our crippling of the General's systems, has resulted in the restoration of normal weather patterns within the simulation.
As we have already eliminated the General's primary Matrix stronghold, and his data network, he has few places to hide here, and a rapidly dwindling supply of combat units. I am sending you to one of those units now, Mr. Kennedy. The General must be located and terminated.

Operator: We've got some commando action in there.

Commando: Hostile contact!

Commando: Unit under fire!

Commando
: Mayday, mayday!

Operator
: You've cleaned 'em out.

Operator: I bet that kind of message just works wonders for troop morale.

Agent Gray: His tactics are growing increasingly desperate. Surely the General realizes that he is merely delaying the inevitable.
Forward scans along his projected route have detected programs believed to be under the control of the Merovingian. Their presence can be no coincidence. It is believed that they may be more...forthcoming than the General's own units. You are to capture one of the Exiles, and then await further instructions.

Operator: Got Exile signals in there, all right. We'll have to keep an eye out for one we can nab.

Lupine Scrapper
: *CENSORED* grease monkeys!

Operator: Bohrmann there looks like as good a weak link as any. Get rid of his buddies and haul him outside.

Elite Guard: Rrrraah!

Bohrmann: I knew we shouldn't have agreed to help the General. This is his fault!

Operator: Okay, get him out of there.

Bohrmann: What do you want? The Merovingian will deal with the General. You'll see!

Agent Gray: Operative, you are to take the captured Exile to Agent Pace. She will handle extraction of the required data.

While I am performing this task, you will lead two programs you just saw outside, and await directions to the strike location.

Operator: Darn it, I wanna know what she's gonna do to that guy.

Agent Pace
: You will have the data shortly, operative. I will see to it...personally.

: Coordinates are incoming from Agent Pace now, operative. Continue pursuit of the General and his forces at the indicated location.

: The next door is secured. Looks weird... Haven't seen code quite like that before. The computer in that room controls access, but it looks secure too. We'll probably need some kind of access code.

: Heh. You're about to be going the wrong way, anyway.

Computer
: Access code required.

Operator: Yep, we'll need an access code for that.

Operator: Okay, try the code in the computer.
Whoa, what... The whole area just blinked. What is going... Hm, and the computer's reset. Door's open, though.
Wait a second... I wasn't picking up that bluepill before. Something weird is going on here.

Bluepill: Thank goodness! The lock jammed somehow. I tried calling out, but nobody answered. Sounded like it must have been hell getting the bolt forced open from out there, but--
Wait... Who are you? What's going on here?

Operator: Aw, crud. That's what it was. The door's normal now--too normal. They changed something. Wherever that door used to go, it isn't going now, which means that this is a dead end. The ol' switcheroo from the Merv.

: Targets eliminated.

Agent Gray
: It appears that the Merovingian has given the General access to his system of "back doors," operative. We do not currently have access to these areas, and the routines required to access them are known to change frequently. Nevertheless, we must now devote the necessary resources to prenetrate this system. The General will not be allowed to remain at large within the simulation.

  I don't know if this is a known issue, but since it's not fixed, I thought I'd post about it.






Here, I've clicked my free fire button and, as you can see, I have switched to Self Defense style. The NPC is in range for my gun. Then, I use a knife ability; Crippling Throw. In the shot, my cursor is already over the ability in my hotbar as you can see by the details that have popped up. After I switch to spy style, and use the ability, and let my auto-freefire continue it's... auto-freefire..ness... :






This doesn't just happen with NPCs, but with people in pvp as well. It seems when I switch to spy style, I stick with spy style even while I have auto-freefire running. For some reason, spy style decreases my freefiring range considerably. In order to get my shot off I either have to reset my auto freefire with the risk of my freefire not working that round and my timer breaking, or get really, really close to the NPC.

It's not lag, and the NPC isn't farther away than I see him, because this happens with NPCs right up against walls as well.
