Not only that. NPCs also can use abilities they aren't equipped for. Example: Dual Pistol Execution with only one gun.

Another thing with NPCs: an NPC's freefire move executes no matter what happens. If an NPC launches a Hack and gets shot while the hack is still casting the move will still finish eventhough the NPC has died (easiest to notice with Howitzer NPCs or Duelist's Disarming Shot that have longer casting times). That is something that would never work for a player

  I have stopped counting the We-need-more-Hotbars threads a long time ago. In addition to more actual Hotbars we could use a drag-down border at the bottom of the Hotbar that allows us to have more than 2 Hotbars visible at the same time. As has been pointed out by SOE personnel some time ago: Neither will ever happen

Yeah... lets have coding a Sime appear the char creation menus so you can style them and dress them up LMAO - Surely that will add some spice to Code Shaper stuffs. Cosidering the average life time of Simes this will be some kind of pain in the a.s.s.

If you run the game on Vista with active UAC then the System Directory Redirection messes up your game completely. Perhaps that might have caused this crap. UAC redirects all non-Admin write access from real System Directories (e. g. C:\Windows, C:\Program Files, etc.) into the user's VirtualStore folder. That has been known to cause problems with MxO: For example saved Loadouts and User Interface settings end up in VirtualStore. If a game patch gets "redirected" then the whole game is a complete mess.

  • Either elevate the game to full Admin rights to circumvent that
  • Or install the game (and maybe other pre-Vista games too) in a seperate full read-write access directory that is not subject to UAC redirection

For quite a while now I noticed that the melee combat styles of Multi-Loadout NPCs are bugged: Reduced to Self-Defense combat style.

Examples:

  • EPN Crusaders are supposed to be Kungfu/Duelist but instead of Kungfu they do Self-Defense
  • Unlimit Soldiers are supposed to be Karate/Rifle/Hacker - no Karate, Self-Defense instead
  • Elite Commandos do Self-Defense instead of Aikido
  • Similar bugs with SSR Sec Guards, Kalt Executive Security and countless other Multi-Build NPCs

Is that a bug or has this been changed on purpose?

To solve that one though, the Archivist needs to be altered, or better yet, Datamine can be added to the list on the Hardline so we can go straight back from the Loading Area.  An NPC in Datamine drops a file, which when uploaded adds Datamine under the construct section of the Headline, it will also then destroy the file as to prevent it being passed on to other people to do the same without beating the NPC. 

Me and a faction have been teaming up, we go in and do our best to take out Master Shadow users and any other tappers mainly to justify the info rate, regardless of org.


Just place a Hardline to tag inside the construct... otherwise... great idea SMILEY

  It does not actually stack. Two debuffs simply wear off their timers. You get rid of powerless state once the last timer has run out. 6 secs of powerless(1) + 2 secs casting timer of powerless(2) + another 6 secs of powerless(2) makes a total of 10 secs. Thats right. The debuffs don't queue though. So casting a powerless debuff at someone that is already powerless is actually a waste of IS for the one that is casting it, not a disadvantage for the debuffed...

So actually this discussion is as well a waste of IS SMILEY

The "manual" tells a lot of fairy tales that aren't in the game. A few things have been updated but it is still way behind the current standings. You can flush that thing down the toilet as it is useless anyways. A high-level player camping Uriah for new players and instructing them is way more fun than even an up-to-date manual. C'mon this is an MMO. It is here for players' interaction not mastering stuffs through reading manuals. Never had a look in it and made it to 50 cuz I had friends not manuals.

  It does not make sense to stack same with same. What does stacking powerless with powerless do? Make you mega-powerless? I guess no one will bother fix that as it has no additional detrimental effects other than resetting the powerless timer to the last debuff's duration.

Some debuffs need a revamp tho: Proxy Coder's Lockdown 1.0 is a non-breakable root whose re-use timer is shorter than the debuff's duration. You can root someone forever with it just by casting it again and again.

  "Ultimate Customizable Chars"...

I remember the days where it was strongly advised to take an hour of time when creating your chars as the specifications were, once set up, read-only. The char's trait ist the last remaining factor that should be well-chosen at the creation menus. As much as "RSI Pills" and "Stat Hacks" come in handy nowadays I oppose such things as they are kinda humbug RP wise. I have never touched an RSI pill with any of my chars; stat hacking makes kinda sense but taking a pill to alter a char's basic attitude is heavy nonsense.

I know I'm gonna get bashed by PVPers for this, but me says lets keep it the way it is SMILEY

I'm not facing any issues on Vista. Runs just as fine as it did on XP. I only needed to double my RAM (to 4 gigs) as Vista is quite... consuming considering system resources.

I'm not even using very sophisticated equipment: ATI X1600, Old-School Pentium 4, 3.20GHz.

Why would one wanna destroy a Signal Booster? They're worth a fortune as they're actually a mobile Hardline for uploading, market and coding. And only the mobile ones do actually boost anything. The stationery ones give no coding buffs... so please scratch this crap SMILEY

Organization channel is a good idea: The way it is now absolutely everyone is member of one of three Organizations: The one they have highest reputation with. Means: They have a chat system that connects them with others of their kind. That would reduce the "Factionism" phenomenon a bit that's extremely spread on MxO. You have to be member of a Faction to have a larger basis of comms with people of your Organization.

An Org channel would encourage non-factioned crews or non-crewed operatives without being stuck in a lonely box. And an Org channel could facilitate faction recruitment or tutorials for new players that aren't members of factions yet.

So here goes a big fat

There's probably tens of thousands of such rooms available, at least a hundred per district, and in DT considerably more! i really can't see how the few people running RP's would seriously impact the system. There might be an initial flurry of people trying them out when they get released (just like the holiday tickets) but once the novelty wears off they'll basically be used for the occasional RP session.

And I guess other people have proposed these before, but, well I guess it doesn't hurt to keep asking.


Customizing props wld be kewl, yeah... like dropping a sheet of paper with notes on it. Collecting obviously useless items is a hobby for MMO-Maniacs, yeah. I mean it is OK collecting event clothes and stuffs that still work after the event but keeping items just for the fact they're rare is blank Bullsh@t. Don't say the female Beta gear looks crap. That outfit is the pwn. Even if you could buy those stuffs from clothing vendors I'd wear them cuz they look great

Nah... not resizable buttons; that would require Vista-style vector based icons. But there should be a bottom border for the hotbars that you can drag up and down making more or fewer hotbars visible

As an alternative to hotbars there could also be HotKeys (Yes: On your Keyboard) that can be defined by the player for certain actions like Abilities or macros. Considering how fu@%ed up the MxO keyboard is on non-English layouts already I bet that wld be an impossible task for the devs tho LOL

  I think the LVL 100 Agents are OK. If they weren't here people wld be moaning about how the story is disregarded in actual gameplay. We'd read things from Zionites like "Give us Agents to fight!".

A good point in this thread: Merv and Mech never had a Truce. Means: Those Agents shld always have spawned on Mervs. The Agent thingy is ready for improvement tho: There shld be soloable Agent spawns... something like player level + 4. A red conning Agent is a tough opponent (which an Agent is supposed to be) but still not impossible to take on solo. The LVL 100 Agents can be taken on by a team and still shld not be removed: I loved farming tie clips SMILEY

  That must be why I had found shitloads of abandoned crashdump images in my game directory when I removed the game from my disk. The thing does not crashreport anything anymore but apparently still records dump files

I've only seen them in US people's screenshots. I also asked why a long time ago and found that due to IP address legality issues they can't do anything about it... a few may have broken through though...

BTW: You can remove the level restrictions from Archive Books on Vector as the entire server is hostile anyways. The way it is now an Archive Construct on Vector is even a safer place for a LVL 16 than the City.

The one thing that would be nice is now that our character names dont go under PlayerName @TheMatrixOnline.com anymore, if we could claim the same names on different servers. So for me, being able to have SOE.MxO.Syntax.AnXieTy762, SOE.MxO.Recursion.AnXieTy762, and SOE.MxO.Vector-Hostile.AnXieTy762. That would be something that would be nice to see.


If a char is expressly deleted by its owner, the name should be released for public use again. Why keep someone's emails and possessions in a database if their legal owner as decided to get rid of them. That would be like keeping all the contents of trash bins in federal storehouses. It should not be too hard to implement into a database: If a char is deleted, all data related to it is dumped as well. That's called Referential Integrity and quite common even in simple SQL databases...

Aside from that: What are they doing with all those orphaned database entries. They gotta have Exabytes of abandoned Emails and Items in their database

They can only use your name if they play on your account though, it's kinda stuck to the account. Trust me, I've tried this before.

(CCD: Clean Char Disband)

If you decide to quit an MMO for good you should do these things during the last subscription period:

  • Give your valuables (i. e. Event Items, Collector Rewards, etc.) to your closest friends
  • Sell the rest of your stuffs (down to the last Code Bit) on the market (dont dump your stuffs, use reasonable values!)
  • If you have multiple chars on one server repeat the procedure above for all chars and merge the funds on your main char
  • Place 10% of the resulting wealth in your crew's bank (if your crew disbands along with you skip this)
  • Place the rest of the funds in your faction's bank
  • Repeat this for all servers
  • Delete the empty (naked *LOL*) chars one day before your subscription expires

BTW: Earliest time to reasonably start Archive Missions is LVL 33: Thats the point when you can return to Richland for missions and wont get bothered by the street mobs. Some of the archived Crit Missions involve babysitting LVL 1 NPCs that wont have much chance of survival in International or Westview. Missioning in Tabor Park is a good place to even escort around Bluepill NPCs
