The Morpheus investigation is getting...real complicated.

Hey everyone,

It was tough, but we finally managed to trace the origin of the Nabonidus captain's signal we've been picking up along with the Morpheus broadcasts, and...well, it turns out that it's fake.

Whoever's behind it did a real good job of hiding the source by bouncing it off multiple radio towers in the city, and an old relay point in the Real. And they have got their hands on secure Zion ship records, because the signal matched the signature Zion had for the Nabonidus, Morpheus' old ship.

But we've double-checked our results, and the signal's definitely originating within the Matrix itself. That means it can't be a hovercraft beacon signal like it's made out to be. We don't know who's sending it, but...it isn't what a lot of us hoped it was.

Even though we found that they didn't have the information, I'm really happy with how you guys worked together in there to keep Veil and the Cypherites away from the computer while we were running the hack. I'll bet she didn't expect that she'd have to tuck tail like that.

We've seen the clear image of Morpheus with our own eyes. It looked like him, sounded like him--came to us with a message that was partly scrambled, but still plenty clear enough, saying things some of us have always suspected. With messages like this, and even the Machines themselves admitting that they lied to everyone about Cryptos and the Cypherites, now each of us has to ask ourselves:

Now we know. The Machines are making kill-codes for our officers now. We know they aren't easy for them to make... I suppose we can consider this escalation a sign of our success against the System.

Most of you knew Keterina--worked with her personally. She always gave everything she had to our cause--right up to the end.

We'll fight on, Keterina--for you, for our other brothers and sisters who have given up their lives, and for all those still enslaved by the Machine.

Thanks to some quick work by Holy Warriors E Zion, Opus Neo, Pluribus Neo, and others, we were able to locate a terminal the Cypherites had hacked to get into our systems. The Cypherite we caught at the terminal, Escondido, wasn't very cooperative, but at least we've put a stop to that leak. How they found the terminal and cracked our network encryption is another question, and one that we have to find the answer to quickly.

A lot of people seem to think that just because you believe something, you can't see things from someone else's point of view.

Well, maybe you can't. But I think we can try; I think we should try. Both those fighting for the System, and those fighting against it, came from the same place. We share common memories, and common feelings--a common humanity. We've all made choices, and although we have chosen differently, I think we can all be thankful that the choice was ours to make. Hopefully, it always will be.

I wanted to make sure everyone was aware that we got Brenda Utley out of Unlimit's hands. It was a tough piece of work, but with the help of a copied access card, a friendly maintenance man, and lots of your fellow operatives, we found where she was being held in Pendhurst-Amaranth's downtown headquarters, and managed to bring her to safety. Before Ms. Utley went off to catch up on some much-needed rest, she said that she overheard some things that make her think there's something up with Pendhurst-Amaranth's board of directors. I'm not sure what that means, except that this isn't over yet!
