Matrix Effect Tutorial

This tutorial will teach you how to take an ordinary picture, and convert it to a 'Matrix' version of it. The picture, in other words, will consist of the matrix code and ends up really looking cool. I will cover such techniques as displacement mapping, layers and the free transform tool.

Step 1: Find an image you want to edit. I'll use this one.

Step 2: Find a nice and large matrix code picture. I'll save you the trouble of looking. (Matrix Code Picture)

Step 3: Open your starting image. It should be the background layer. It is a good idea to keep this layer untouched so that you can refer back to it or copy bits from it and what not.

Step 4: Create a new layer called 'Code'. Paste the matrix code image so it fills the screen. Duplicate the background layer and put it on top of the other two layers. Name that new layer 'Lines'.

You now should have 3 layers. 'Lines', then 'Code', then your original background picture.

*** Note, before you continue, copy & paste your original Background image, and save it by itself into it's own .psd file. You will need to do this for the next steps. Save it as ImageDisplace.psd ***

Step 5: Ok now that you have done that go back to the original psd that has the 3 layers. Select the 'Code' layer and then from the menu go Filter > Distort > Displace. Use these settings:

Horizontal Scale : 30
Vertical Scale: 30
Select Stretch To Fit & Repeat Edge Pixels

(You may want to use a smaller value than 30 for the scale. 20 or even 10 often works well. I used 10 for this picture.)

Step 6: Now click and Select the image you saved as ImageDisplace. The image of the code should distort slightly.

Step 7: Go to the layer ‘Lines’. Go Filter > Stylize > Glowing edges. Play around with the settings until you’re happy and click OK.

Step 8: Then go Image > Adjustments > Hue / Saturation.

Step 9: Check the box ‘Colorize’ and make it green and about the same saturation as the code.

Step 10: Set the layer blend mode to ‘Screen’ and admire the effect!

Step 11: To make it look a bit more real, select (on the code layer) the bits of code corresponding to each wall and go Edit > Transform > Perspective. Grab a corner handle and drag.

And tada! This is the final effect . If you have any questions on any part, please feel free to ask me anything.

This picture was not the BEST example to use since it did not have much depth. I'll post a few more in a bit. Let's see what you guys can do!!! I'm positive you guys will get better results. I'm not pro pro at Photoshop, but my picture still turned out pwn!

Why not have the different body types have different bonuses?

Body Type 1 (Really Skinny): 5% Accuracy
Body Type 2 (Normal): 5% Defense
Body Type 3 (Really Fat): 5% Damage

The buffs don't have to be exactly what i listed above. Other buffs could be add like movement speed and what not. The general idea is to have diff buffs for the diff body types. Would make choosing how your char looks affect how he fights. ((Would make more big guys show up in the game )) So if you agree, list some of the buffs you think each should have.

I've had this idea for a while now and it always comes back to me when I mission.

Answer this, what purpose do light switches have in the game currently?
None. (( Well, there is the occasional romantic setting with your mission partners, haha ))
Ok, my idea is this. Light switches are located near the entrance doors for each room usually right?

Well, why not make it so that if you flip the lights off in a room, when you are in that room you will get a slight increase in stealth, disguise, concealment, and invisibility. So let's say your missioning, and you open a door. You then click the light switch, ding! +20 pts stealth. It's like wearing Yuki Boots! :o

I think this is a great idea for these reason:

1) It's easy to implement.
2) It wont unbalance the game.
3) Adds another kinda fun aspect to missioning.
       - Player 1: "Turn off all the lights, i'm going in!!!"
       - Player 2: "Chargeeeeeeeeee!!!" *Turns off the lights and hides in elevator*
       - Player 1: "Ninja Night Attack!!!! :O"
4) Will make missions a little bit easier for low level spies (( NPC's have high detection sometimes ))
5) Wont affect PVP stats or anything like that!

What do you guys think?

I have a series of JPG images that i want to link into a GIF. I tried using FLASH MX, but when i render the file into a GIF the quality looks really crappy for some reason, and not like the original pictures. If you know of a program that can easily string about 40 pics together to make a nice GIF please let me know

There are many tournaments for 50's and I think it's time there was one for the other half of MxO.
The Professional Low Level Martial Arts Tournament will have 3 categories:

Category 1:
       - Levels 10-15

Category 2:
       - Levels 16-25

Category 3:
       - Levels 26-35

First Place In Each Category Will Receive 5,000,000 Information.
Second Place In Each Category Will Receive 2,000,000 Information.
Third Place In Each Category Will Receive 1,000,000 Information.

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT:
       - Martial Arts Abilities Only
       - No Healing At All (Including Mobius)
       - No Guns

       - Players will be given a black and white GI
       - Players must be barefoot and not wearing gloves, glasses, or hats & bandana's

First I would like to say this:

Seriously, there are like what 5-10 designs that just get some different buffs? Also, having the high level ones all have that same barrelhead design is kind of annoying. I mean I know that Black Formal Gloves can match with any outfit. But I think MxO needs some new color gloves. Green ones, yellow ones, red ones, blue ones, orange ones. And so on. They should be similar to formal gloves but with different colors.

Does anyone else agree with me here?

This is a pretty simply idea to implement I think. But it's a terrific one nonetheless. Anyways the idea is this. Either use an already made gun model and edit it a little to look different, or create a new one that looks more like a slick high powered dart rifle such as this:

The gun would be run on darts. These dart guns don't have infinite ammo. You need to have the darts in order to use the gun. The darts would be used kinda like the silver bullet except there will be many different kinds of darts and only one gun. You would have to aquire to gun somehow and it stays with you weather you have ammo for it or not. If you want to use it though you will need it's ammo. It's ammo could be farmed at special locations or could even be aquired from data node tapping. Here are some possible dart suggestions. As long as you have the ammo your gun will fire unless you stop it.

Slower Dart: Slows the speed down of it's target tremendously. (The higher a level you are the more % it slows down)
Paralyzer Dart: Freezes target in it's place. (The higher a level you are the longer he stays frozen)
Normal Dart: Causes damage to the target. (The higher a level you are the more damage you cause)
Debuffer Dart: Removes positive buffs. (The higher a level you are the more time it takes for a person to re-enable them)
Poison Dart: Causes damage over time. (The higher a level you are the damage it causes per second)
Disable Dart: Stops the target from performing any sort of attack. (The higher a level you are the longer the target is disabled)
State Dart: Causes the target to become staggered, off-balanced, and dazed. (The higher a level you are the greater the chance)
Reverser Dart: Causes the target to sustain damage everytime he attacks another person.
Blinding Dart: Causes the target to have a large decrease in spy detect points and bonus, making spies able to attack easily.
Evader Dart: Automatically disables the shield with a single hit.
Killer Dart: Kills the target in one hit. (Rarest of them all)

Some of these darts can have amazing effects. They will be the hardest ones to find. The darts cannot be decomplied and coded and will be hard to farm for and find. This makes it ok for them to have some crazy effects. I think this would make the game alot more interesting and fun. Id love to see dart guns or blow guns that are shooting darts all over the place. Anyways along with negative darts they could also implement positive darts that you can use on friendlies.

Anyways, what do you guys think? Personally, this would give 50's more things to have fun farming for. They could even be dropped only by special high level people. Like MxO could create random high level spawns downtown. If your lucky, those high levels will drop special darts. Those darts could be sold for big bucks to whoever wants them. It would create a new market to make cash. Anyways i think this is easy to implement. The easiest thing would be to create the darts with their stats. And in order to use them you need a special prerequisite: the dart gun. After a number of shots, let's say like 20, the gun dies. Since the darts are rare and hard to get, the darts would never miss. It would be cool if you could actually see the dart get stuck to the target's neck too. You could think of it as a way of injecting crafted MxO code into the enemy causing it to have special effects on it. Tell me what you think folks.

I personally like to mission, but after a while it hits you and you begin to think along the lines of, "This. Is. So. Boring. It. Makes. Kitties. Die." MxO tries hard to make missions diverse and somewhat fun, ill give them credit for trying, but common, the missions are horrible. Don't get me wrong, i enjoy the critical and archive missions a lot. It's the normal missions I'm complaining about. The ones you spend most of your time on along your path to reach 50. With that said, I have found a solution! A way to revolutionize missioning. The missions will be more fun and a lot harder. Not harder in the sense that "Omg there's 500 people shooting at me!" But rather harder to solve and complete the mission. That's right folks, your going to have to use your brain now.

Anyways here are basic outlines and ideas for the revolutionized mission system.

1) To begin them:
    a) Under a separate category in the normal mission select area using the name "Lone Ranger Missions" or "Logic Missions"
          - By "Lone Ranger" it means that you wont have an up-link with your operator so he wont be able to help you out.
    b) A separate mission contact
          - One in each district: Richland, Westview, Downtown, International

2) The special aspects of this type of mission:
    a) No up-link between you and your operator until the mission is complete
          - So that others will not be able to trace you or notice you are running an operation against the enemy
          - Or the up-link is disabled by an Exile that you are running the mission against.
    b) No green guider round thingies:
          - Nothing will be marked, if you need to search a pc, or open a desk or closet, your going to have to check them all.
    c) Mission objectives will not be given to you:
          - You will have only 1 Goal. To each that goal you need to solve things on your own.

3) Since these missions will be hard to beat the awards for beating them should either be:
    a) About 2 times the XP aquired from normal ones. (Since beating them takes more brainpower and time)
    b) Some special items and what not.

If your still confused, let me give you a quick scenario:
Ok you start the mission. It will say:

To complete the mission, find and kill your target: Milakov.
Then a way point will be set to the first mission area.

Once in that area it is up to you to find out more about Milakov, and where to find him.
Here is where you do some snooping around. There may be bad guys there, and there may not be. It's your decision weather attacking them or keeping them alive will benefit you. Talk to them, figure out some things. Maybe some can open doors or cabinets for you. Maybe you can bribe one of them to do you a favor? Let's assume this happened for the sake of this scenario:

You enter the mission area. You see a Bluepill. You can either attack to him, or talk to him. One wrong move and your toast. ((If there was a way when you talk to him that you could ask specific questions that would be 10 times better since you could then get busted if you ask the wrong or inappropriate question)). Anyways you talk to him for a bit and don't get anything from him so you decided to kill him. Oh he had a Giftbox on him. Keep exploring. You later find a guard, who starts attacking you. Before you attack back, think of what you can do. Talk to him and try giving him the gift. Hah! you have just bribed the guard, and he is now on your side. Try talking to him again, he will be nicer. Youl then get a key from him. After looking for a while, you notice the key opens a drawer that has a CD in it. Load the CD in one of the computers. Youl have to know which one or else the CD gets burnt or broken. To find out what PC to load the CD that the guard told you is a program used to extract safehouse locations, look around some more. Oh! in the bathroom you find a newspaper clipping. On the back its written "Room 202, SHD" SHD? Safe House Database maybe? :o Go looking in all the rooms. Look for items on the ground, or on desks. Hmm let's use the phone in the office. Check the voice mail, it will say something like, Room 202 Voicemail. Or room 203 204 205 w/e. Put the CD, get the Safe House location, and youve beaten this part!!! Now go kill Milakov.

OK obviously the missions would take a little more thought into them, i personally have nice ideas for them. The general point i wanted to get across is to make the missions have NO objections exept the main one, and NO tips. YOU have to do everything by yourself, using your noggin . I wrote this quickly and I'm sitting on my bed and my back hurts :o. Any tips or extra ideas would be great. I'm sure though that all of you would like this type of mission. I know i would.

As of February 1st, 2007 my subscription will terminate. And sadly to say this time i will not resubscribe. I've played The matrix for a long long time now, and i've made numerous Friends and some enemies (just some ).     On March 22, a couple of years ago, my life took a new path, a path I was both eager to take and very glad I did. That is the date when the best Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game called The Matrix Online was released. The game is set in the fictional universe of The Matrix and continues the story told in the Matrix series. Those are also some of the best movies out on the market. The three Matrix movies (The Matrix [1999], The Matrix Reloaded [2003], The Matrix Revolutions [2003]) are all movies that set new limits to how we visualize the world today and how we perceive how life actually is run. If closely analyzed the Matrix series have many psychological and philosophical aspects that most people seem to overlook as they enjoy the action packed and graphically pleasing movie.
    Anyways, you’re probably thinking, “Who would write about an online game?” Well, to tell you the truth, I would. The Matrix Online is very important to me and has helped me in numerous amount of ways that no other item or person could. Whenever I feel sorrowful, distressed, or ill-tempered I hop on The Matrix Online and enter a world most people don’t know about. It is a world that can be very calming and soothing, and that’s exactly why I log on and play. Most of the people on The Matrix Online play for the same reasons as I do, because it’s comforting and because it’s a place where you can let go of everything that is happening in the real world and immerse yourself into a fantasy without worrying what people will think about you, what is going to happen the next day, and what has happened in the past. My parents’ divorce was a tough one. Until and after the divorce happened, all that I heard in my house was screaming. The only way that I could escape the pain and the misery was to enter a peaceful world. That peaceful place for me is The Matrix Online. Almost everyone there is friendly and has a story similar to mine as to why they play the Matrix. For those numerous weeks of turmoil and chaos in my house, I would be in my room peacefully immersing myself into a worriless-universe. It’s not like I am obsessed with the game, it’s just that The Matrix Online is the only diversion that could make me feel better and that could make me forget about everything that was happening at home.
    I still play the game today, but for other reasons. As the years passed by I have matured greatly and am able to handle a lot more pressure than I once could. I rarely ever get distressed, angry, or furious, and the effects of the divorce are slowly wearing off. I now play the game as a pastime and as a way to entertain myself. I also keep playing to stay in touch with the hundreds of friends I made while playing during the rough times in my life. They were all there to help me through it, even more than anyone could in real life. Without them I would not have been able to get through the divorce and move on. That is why the Matrix Online is a topic of great importance to me. It is a fact of life that computers are now part of people’s lives and maybe one day I’ll help create a virtual world where people can escape reality for a moment at the click of a button.

Well it's pretty simple. The person above you asks you to find an in game screen shot (meaning it has to be from MxO, and it has to be your own ) of whatever they want. They could say something like find me a picture of someone doing the Russ dance on the roof of a church, etc.. Make sure your pictures comply with the T.O.S. and E.U.L.A., so try not to ask for pictures about exploits and what not . Anyways, you will see how fun this can get .

(Hint) Before taking a pic, doing Ctrl + U and Ctrl + T will make the picture look better

I am now opening The EnterTheFenix Free Coding Company!!!!

Just send me an in game Email to my char (EnterTheFenix) with a list of what you want. You most follow these guidlines however:

- No more than 3 items per order
- Try to tell me around what level it is
- And that's it

Oh, and im on Recursion so for you syntax and Vector people, sorry .

I hope this will help people get what they want without having to ask 10000 people and get denied .
