It's like there's a total disconnect between the CSRs, TSRs, and the frontline responders. Raijinn, are you aware that the customer service reps are all saying that, in fact, the cutoff date was May 28th and not June 1st, which is why so many people have lost their accounts?
Yeah, actually I've seen you all quote the CSR's quite a bit. I believe that 27th/28th date was an internal date set or something along those lines however in the mailer it did state the 1st as the cut-off. It's pretty confusing for you all (and myself to some extent) but we hope to get this clarified and resolved in the near future.
Thanks Raijinn, I'm glad at least someone is listening to our concerns. We really do appreciate it.
So basicly we are in a holding pattern untill information can be brought down from on high regarding were the little mess up of an internal date of may 28th didnt get put into an offical email from SOE stating june 1st and what to do about it. We all know what needs to be done, however those big wigs have to say it before wheels turn, right?
At this point, like, I'm fairly sure they do want to help. I spoke with Eryk N, and he made it very clear that he would give me my MxO back if he could. "Truly", he said. The issue is, like, buttons have been pressed, accounts terminated, systems shut-off... and I'm sure half the technical staff went on vacation on June 1st . So, undoing this won't be instant, if it can be undone at all.

I find this thread funny, only because - after sufferring quite a bit of personal frustration due to the "spy" (before we found out), leaving the game for several months (it was one of the reasons), coming back to learn the truth.. I get a speech from Xeros about "honor", "truth", and "dissapointment at Bonopi". Message Edited by wwWizard2k on 04-01-200603:22 PM

Message playback: Combat Log - 3/30/2006 Well, I hope this message reaches somebody - I certainly trust you didn't assume I *died* the last few months. Commander, I am providing whatever details I can on a rather massive engagement. While it is somewhat uncommon that you hear from me, this engagement began with my team, so here is my format report. Captain Nibori and I were surveying the situation with the "Piece of Blue Sky" venues that appeared in the Union Hill area. The area was abandoned, completely, and thus, we only had one escort each (Operatives AwakenedPotato and Renesis), who were nearby. Without any warning, we were attacked by unknown programs. While reports of this are growing, the scope was unfathomed. There were dozens of these "Sleepwalkers" – we were nearly overwhelmed. I must say, the battle went fantastically well under the circumstances, Sir. We managed to hold them off, but frankly, they kept coming. Stream detects visual data: http://mxo.staticsynapse.com/union_sleepwalkers/sleepwalker_assault01.jpg http://mxo.staticsynapse.com/union_sleepwalkers/sleepwalker_assault02.jpg http://mxo.staticsynapse.com/union_sleepwalkers/sleepwalker_assault03.jpg http://mxo.staticsynapse.com/union_sleepwalkers/sleepwalker_assault04.jpg I attempted several calls for help, which were answered by a few Zion operatives, but too few to hold our own. AwakenedPotato fell back to a Richland data node and placed a general call for any and all assistance - which we received in enormous numbers from almost every organization. It turned into quite a battle, Sir. While we were reinforced by almost every side, we honestly barely got through it in one piece. I'm told that the battle is still continuing, though with diminished numbers of enemies. Stream detects visual data: http://mxo.staticsynapse.com/union_sleepwalkers/sleepwalker_assault05.jpg http://mxo.staticsynapse.com/union_sleepwalkers/sleepwalker_assault06.jpg (Oh, and on a side note - those interesting red pill "security forces" that seemed so bent on policing us were, of course, nowhere to be seen when an armada attacked. It makes me question who's behind all of this, and if these programs are in fact, working for them, rather than against them.) Oh, and please pass this next part onto Anome. As much as I enjoy his banter while on my missions, perhaps he should be more cautious next time he insults the overall command structure of the E Pluribus Neo extremist group. As you can see below, their command officials chose to visit the battlescene and provide orders while the action was still going. Despite the fact that the entire first quarter of the war was exclusively fought by members of my team, I was unable to reach any form of Zion military command. Stream detects visual data: http://mxo.staticsynapse.com/union_sleepwalkers/shimada.jpg http://mxo.staticsynapse.com/union_sleepwalkers/shimada2.jpg This is the extent of the usable data I was able to observe. I love the post above, by MorVidEye, because it truly represents the difference between the weakness of the friendly servers and the purity of combat of the Hostile one.
Syntax and Recursion are confusing, cheap forgeries of the Vector experience. They are a childish exploiter's dream-world. People keeping their flags off until they outnumber you... patchers rezing their friends while unflagged. These are not tactics - in fact, in our world, those who even change ORGS (not unflagging themselves, just changing orgs), to avoid combat, are considered exploiters, and are punished by Vector - CSRs accordingly.
I find it ironic that you accuse us of "eluding battle", when you can simply opt-out at will. Maybe if we were as cowardly as you are, playing on an opt-out server, then I would agree with your assessment of our use of hyperjump.
Oh, and by the way. On the whole, I believe the forces of Vector will fall to a barrage of exploits from the Recursion and Syntax players. I know for a fact that I will land in a "clear area" only to have be stalked by carebears until I am sufficiently outnumbered for them to "/pvp". I know that when I call for backup, anyone we kill will be rezed by a unflagged patcher.
Normally, I am quite pleasant to newcommers to these forums. But if you dare question our "bravery" again, you'll see how much more unpleasant I can become. Message Edited by wwWizard2k on 12-14-2005 03:36 PM

It's kinda ironic that people are dropping the SWG-NGE after 20 days (in which, SOE has released 5 major updates with hundreds of content and bug fixes), and yet stay with MxO for 9 months with almost no changes or fixes made (or they were made, broken again, then re-promised).
I don't like meandering in the business of others, but since this is a forum topic :smileytongue:, I'd just say that, if ya liked the game, maybe you should give it some time/another try. They changed **everything** on November 15th (hasn't even technically been one month yet), and myself and others in my guild were having the same problems (things happened that prevented the quest from finishing, and thus, no xp gain, thus no level).
For the first 2 weeks, they stopped accepting tickets because apparently the wait time grew so that you wouldn't be serviced until after the patch anyway. The last 2 days however, I have been submitting actual tickets, and a friend actually got a CSR to walk him through his quest, moving NPC's out of their evade zones so he could complete.
That was on Ahazi, though. (hey, you can join us if ya want. lol)

Hey, a screenshot thread :smileyhappy:
Well, I've taken like hundreds of good ones (most of which never even get uploaded), but there are a few that I put online a little while ago.
[ High Res BMP ] A bug in NPC spawns let me get this one of Tyndall
This is a screenshot of a kinda honor-guard we set up at a party hosted by the Furious Angels on Enumerator, at which Leland and Vashuo showed up.
And to finish it off... a spooky one :smileywink:
I have all these in a really (really) cheap gallery I made before MxO Chapter 2. It's at mxo.staticsynapse.com.

Well, it'd be something we can try.
Maybe we can all make alts (not on the QA, but when it goes live), and see how many level 2's it takes to take down a 50.
I say 86.

Well, it is a combat upgrade... and, as I've said before, a unique opportunity, that to my knowledge has always been dreamed of but never achieved in MMO history.
We have all asked ourselves "I wonder what the best PvPers on <server> would compare to mine". You hear live event coverage, or a DJ say "come <here>, there are 10 machines on <another server>" and you think to yourself "I have a full mission team, I wonder what fighting them would be like".
The hostility between the servers only fuels these basic questions - it does not create the conflict, it only gives it a voice. Nor is it an actual "conflict"....
...I view it more of a "when worlds collide" alternate universe style scenario (or event)
P.S. I think "Worlds Collide" would make a good front banner :smileywink: Message Edited by wwWizard2k on 12-10-2005 12:45 AM

Agreed... I'm actually not specifically unhappy about this. If, and I use a big, big if - they maybe implement some of the good ideas about items we've given them (ie: vary colors, styles, different buff combinations, user defined buff combinations...etc etc).
Plus, to be honest, the entire game mechanics are changing, and SOE is not weak in providing the right items for the right situations (IE: the sparkling fedora is better now, so I'm not crying about re-obtaining it, etc)... so new items are a logical step (the changes being as radical as they are).

Yeah, though, from what he's saying today, it's more like 10 level40's can do it, not 10 level15's...
..Or, it will look like this:
Lvl15ftw's extreme falling kick does 1 damage to you! (insignificant roll VS insignificant roll) Lvl15rock's Precise Speed Attack does 2 damage to you! You activate Health Pill 1.0. Health pill 1.0 restores 3 health to you! Lvl15ftw: "*CENSORED* cheater". Message Edited by wwWizard2k on 12-09-2005 11:42 PM

Vector is one of those interesting places. I personally bitched, whined, complained, and pouted through most of my lower levels. But after 9 (is it 9?) months of playing here, I've kinda found that after everyone killed everyone else for the first 3,479 times, and posted a humiliating screenshot on the forums of it; we developed a kind of "counter-community" based on warfare, which almost serves as a better community than what we started with.

To be honest with you, Eclipses, I do not see how you could be "disappointed" with this thread. It has a strange title, and is simply a public rebuttal to a ... thread of similar "style" (for lack of a better description - just read the first 2 posts and it becomes obvious).
So... with the exception of teaching each other the various ways to spell "ur a noob", I'm not sure what people expect from the forums :smileyindifferent: Message Edited by wwWizard2k on 12-09-2005 10:16 PM

OUT, OUT OF OUR FORUMS! :smileyvery-happy:
Heh, just kidding, your post is the first I actually like from the (dun dun dun) "other servers". :smileyhappy:
Let me be frank, as you just were. I have no idea how the server war will turn out. Ironically, I'm betting the bugs will defeat all 3 servers, but if they don't, we'll all still be learning a completely new system. Some servers will have numbers, others aptitude, others combat experience. Each of those 3 qualities is essential to adapting to new environments (let's face it, that's what we will all have to do).
As for the anemosity, on the forums, it is nonstop. Ingame, it depends on the player. Personally, I despise the word "pwned" and "noob" - I get a twitch when I hear anyone say it, even my allies. The QA is going to be a blank slate, and while I can guarantee you that there will be some ... less mature individuals (on all servers, by the way), I think that most of us have been hardened enough to be humble in victory and respectful in defeat.
See you out there.

To be honest, the only thing that matters in Zen Master is the VD. They want to balance it? Take out every effect from every ability in Zen master except for the +80 VD, and give it to us. Then they can take 3.7 years figuring out which of the (two) attacks to put back, and release it as an expansion.

Well, they have a point. The number of people who have what it takes to play in a Hostile environment, under constant attack, is much lower than the number of people who have the advanced skills required to use their chat box and talk about how much radio stations like them.

I think a new hacker would actually be kinda cool. Like... to be honest, when the game was in beta (I did not get in for the test but did get in for pre-release), I thoguht "hacker" would be like the twins - like you'd be the same hand-to-hand/guns/knives as anyone else, but a "special" attack you'd have (instead of triple front kick or bulldog) would be to do ridiculous things in the Matrix, like phase out for a few rounds (let's say, take no damage, etc).
I was also hoping for awesome animations, according to my rationale above.
So, even though I kinda learned better....I hadn't reflected back on what my original expectations were... but anyway, that's what they were. Message Edited by wwWizard2k on 12-08-2005 02:19 PM

In fact, MxO CU and SWG-NGE are completely different directions of thinking.
SWG-NGE is an interesting twist to a general MMO, and an almsot fanatical push to make the game "easier". They removed the combat log (can't even see who hit who), they removed the rolls, they sped everything up, and essentially made CT meaningless (you hit him if you can see him, not if you outroll him). This takes a lot of the strategy away and make it more "point and shoot"
MxO CU is a refinement to an almost completely combat oriented game (at least on our servers). Frankly, it seems this will make the game harder, or, "more challenging" (thus more "fun"). Just looking at the new descriptions like "well speed attack is a medium defence, medium accuracy, compared to the normal accuracy of power attack yet neither affect contested (con-test-ed) rollout".... well, trust me. This ain't no SWG. This is pretty much gonna make strategy key.
This can actually create our own problems though - there is definitely a learning curve. I am also hopeful that overcomplicating MA won't lead to yet another "let's just play hacker - it's 2 buttons" migration.
(Yes, I know I often play hacker. But to be honest I'm genuinely decent at playing it. Either way, if I can loot, steal, or craft enough clothes to give me max VD, I'll prolly be permanent KungFu GM after CU).

No problem.
Oh, and while I agree in principle with the Birmingham, lets not forget the point of the combat upgrade. If you all look at the developer journal, they are not simply making free-fire melee - they are redesigning the essence of CT (so that many players working together can beat superior players).
So if you are level 30 and depressed from the ganks, do not just take youself out of the running for the QA server. If all the lowbies work together and help each other in Vector-Hostile (or team with 50's) then by all logical predictions, you WILL be able to hit and WIN, if you are skilled enough with the new system.

Sure, why not.
The Matrix Online is anxiously awaiting a Combat Upgrade (CU) which will allow for the familiar Kung Fu / Martial Arts action of the Matrix movies to become more useful in the game. Currently, martial arts may only be used in a special form of "interlocked" combat, which is slow, buggy and ineffiecient (whereas all other forms of combat: knives, guns, pre-school colors, can be used at any time). The upgrade will allow for martial arts to be used at any time, to bring it up to the level of the others.
Any upgrade of this scale requires testing. Testing means a special "QA test server", which will come online for the use of all players. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for one simple reason.
Server competition. Since the game was launched, the lazy and friendly alike flocked to the relative safety of the "non-hostile" servers, where they could dance, talk, and roleplay in peace. The adventurous and bolder players chose a more lively path, playing in a hostile environment, where their existence was essentially a living hell - being ganked in elevators, during events, and in-some cases by their own faction turning red and leaving them behind.
This situation would not have become what it is today were it not for a few developments. Things such as the radio stations ignoring the hostile servers ("too rough for them"), and egomaniacal comments from the roleplaying servers (specifically, on how "evolved" their existence/morals are, compared to us "savages"). I believe it was in fact a player from a non-hostile server, feeling that his months of sitting and /dance4 equalled to our combat skill, who first proposed that the servers fight.
Thus, when the new server comes online, every player across all 3 servers will make a copy of their best character to it. Each of the 3 servers will choose a PvP affiliation organization on this merged environment (Vector has chosen: Machines), and we shall see who wields the true power of combat in the Matrix universe.

It's not a good idea to post these kinds of threads. You'd be better off PMing an Admin or a Mod. Better yet, have Platinum contact SOE as per my point #3.
Before retuning to MMO's, I was a forum administrator for a technical discussion community. I held the position for 4 years.
When I was an admin, I would have agreed that it's always best to PM a mod. But frankly, this is a community forum. The mod's superiors have already made the decision. It's done. But the community does not have to support it, nor should we sign away our right to speak our minds.
If I receive 1, even 1 message from a mod that says "warning: be quiet", then I will abide by their wishes. But until they determine that I am out of line, I will use my rights as a community member as I see fit.

From what I hear, it was EXTREMELY over the top.
But that's why I am posting this, because when an incident this bad happens, my "something isn't right" sense goes off. It's not logical for him to do this. He didn't want to get banned , he's very broken up about it.
But if you look at some of the replies to his threads (particularly the ones supporting AWR) - you can see that some people definitely didn't like him, or what he had to say.
But he was a good contributing member of this community, so I'm speaking up for him.

I cannot disagree with you, from an account administration standpoint. However, if they have evidence that his account was hacked that they are ignoring simply because he has a slight tendency towards overdone humor (like a "support spam" sig - which, by the way, half of vector has used at one time or another), then it sets a dangerous precedent.
Let me tell you, when I was picking out a credit card, I decided to go for a slightly higher monthly fee, for extra theft protection (ie: if my card is stolen and maxed out, I don't have to pay, even though I am responsible for the card). This exists simply because of a new social reality: things get stolen, things get hacked. It's regrettable but it happens.
I wouldn't argue a suspension. Even a 1 month one. But I don't accept a life-ban, you won't change my mind on that.

From the correspondence he receieved (which I can get for you, I suppose), the account was banned for "anti SOE" remarks and spamming. (and swearing probably)

(an open letter to the CSR's of this game)
Hello forum community,
My name is is wwWizard2k. I am a pre-release player on the Vector server, and longtime supporter of this game.
I have no strong opinion on AWR, and yet, it is my sad duty to convey a piece of information to you.
PlatinumPlatypus, first poster in the "Save AWR" campaign, has received a life-ban from all SOE products. (Please do not draw conclusions at this point, or partake in SOE bashing. I am here to give you the facts as I know them).
On Saturday, December 3rd, someone using the PlatinumPlatypus account logged onto all 3 servers and began spamming "F*** SOE", "SAVE AWR" (in big colorfull text, no less). The unknown user also harrassed all players around him using the /tell command. This proceeded to the point where CSR's took action against the account.
I am saying "an unknown user" because, to be frank, the real PlatinumPlatypus was not even home when the incident occurred. I play often with this person - I use Ventrilo with him. During the time of the incident, Platinum was not on Ventrilo - having informed us that we was stepping out for the afternoon/early evening. He returned hours later to find his account gone and lots of confused people questioning him on his actions.
How did this happen? Apparently Platinum was using a very easy password...ie: his name and his birthday. Now, I'd agree with any critic saying that using a password like that is damned foolhardy. He made a mistake choosing his password, and his reputation has been severely damaged for it.
However...
I have seen people swear after each kill, for months on end. I have seen a single person fill whole pages of the Vector forums with spam threads and vulgar language, then be suspended, only to return days later and begin again. I do not accept that someone can receive a permanent ban from all SOE products from one single incident, especially one where the account/player in question is not behaving rationally and has obviously been compromised.
CSR's of Sony Online Entertainment, I am asking you to please rethink your decision in this matter. Cross-check the server logs, find out who was really using this account. I understand that a player's password is his own responsibility, but certainly this isn't the first time an account has been hacked and a players reputation defrauded. It is up to you to weigh this matter fairly and be understanding of the difficulties customers go through in these situations.
I am unsure if any actions will be taken against me for posting this. Feel free to do so, if you are so inclined. Regardless, my opinion is now on record, and my conscience is clear.

I didn't want to ne naked, so until I see some kind of fix on this, I'll be sporting senior citizen's white slacks ( -18% speed, -10 CT, Requires: minimum playtime 50 days) and a plain brown t-shirt (Requires: Brain activity).
